Not usually one to put up a review right after I finish a meal but I didn't want to forget since this place deserves high praise. As soon as I was ready to order, I was pleasantly greeted by Mohammed who showed a high degree of professionalism & was so well spoken. I ordered the 4 piece chicken dinner which comes with one side & a biscuit. I asked him on a side recommendation & he recommended Cajun fries, onion rings or coleslaw. I really like that I could pick any side & there was no up charge for certain ones. I chose the coleslaw & added a order of the fries. I was told that it would take 15 minutes & as I waited, I watched him work like a pro. He would ask the kitchen how much longer for certain food/orders then would update the individual. My order was ready around the time he said it would be. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised at the size of each thigh & drumstick (they only serve dark meat). The coleslaw is larger than a typical side at other fried chicken places & there is a good amount of fries. The chicken was tasty! Skin was crunchy and the meat juicy. I did get it spicy but it's still on the mild side for me. The fries was cooked to perfection... crispy and full of Cajun flavor. I really liked the biscuit too. I got 4 piece for $13.53, and I got it spicy, what I really liked about this owner they were super kind and they said they were going to make a fresh batch that is why it took a lot a bit of time. The chicken was so juicy, and the spice was really good I would say it is one of the best fried chicken I have ever tasted. This place is one of the best fried chicken spots in markham. I wouldn't waste your time with popeyes or those chained restaurant. Every time i come here, I'm surprised at just how juicy the fried chicken is. There are other fried chicken places that have pretty good fried chicken but if you are looking for something like popeyes or kfc or even churches chicken, i would rather come here instead. Fried Chicken! Enough said right? I finally tried Krispy's Kajun Chicken, and I am soooooo glad I did. The owners, Shahnav and Riaz were former owners of Popeye's Chicken, and have been in the restaurant business for over 25 years! Shahnav is such a sweet lady, and I could see how hard working they are. Humble, appreciative, and so kind - they have definitely gained a new customer! Dine-in is not available right now, but the food was laid on a tray so I could take a video and pictures. I had to control myself to drive home slowly and safely! I arrived just when they opened, and had to wait about 15 minutes. No problem for me, because I knew I was going to get a fresh batch! The chicken pieces are large (no skinny pieces here)! The chicken was crispy, moist, flavorful, not too salty, or heavily battered. The fries and onion rings were perfect sides, and the biscuits, I have to say, are better than Popeye's. This place is basically a cheaper version of Popeyes (probably since they don't have to pay franchise fees). Overall, this is a decent option if you're in the area. Had a 1 piece & shrimp dinner, Cajun Fries, Tenders & Coleslaw. The chicken (mild) was decently crispy & tasty, but the flavour did not penetrate very far into the flesh. The batter was not very thick (thinner than Popeyes), which some people may like. The tenders were not very crispy and were less crispy than average for tenders. Though I ordered them mild, the flavour was also mild (significantly milder than the chicken) - it was still alright, but robust-tasting seasoning (you know, like Kaju... err, I mean Cajun cooking is known for) is possible without spiciness. They also could be moister. The fries were slightly rawer & less seasoned than at Popeyes. The shrimp was overall decent in texture & taste, though at times it was slightly mushy (probably from the batter). Both shrimp & tenders were served with sweet & sour sauce, which was a little strange, though the sauce was ok. The coleslaw here looks rather ugly, probably since they don't throw in stuff to keep it fresh-looking, but it was somewhat refreshing and had some crispness. The biscuit was a little dry. It was crispy, which was odd. Nonetheless, it tasted pretty good and dryness aside the crumb was decent. So the owners of this standalone chicken joint actually used to be former Popeyes owners. Now they kept the unit and became their own chicken shop with a little bit of added secrets that they've put in to the food! Since Popeyes is literally one block down the road at Mccowan, this place can't afford to lose a step. I've gotta agree with what Ruby A said. The chicken, fries and onion rings are almost identical to Popeyes (all the chicken pieces are nice and big here whereas Popeyes sometimes give you these tiny malnourished chicken pieces). Where they DO differ is the biscuits. I think Church's chicken makes the best biscuits followed by Krispy's and then Popeyes. Krispy's was flakier and slightly more moist than Popeyes biscuits. They also have daily specials similar to Popeyes and they're actually listed on the store window and online. The pricing is better than Popeye's due to not having to pay franchise fees. I chose to give this restaurant by Markville Mall a try after a long day of shopping as I was tired and hungry! Overall, the spicy flavoured chicken was not spicy at all, but rather had a more distinct and strong flavour than the normal spiced flavour. So I would definitely get the spicy flavour next time, as the normal spiced chicken was not as flavourful. Regardless, the chicken was extremely juicy, and the chicken seemed to have a little Indian spice to it which I loved! The chicken was also fried when ordered, so it came out fresh and hot! The only downside is that the 'normal' spice level flavoured chicken did not taste as good, and that the side of mash potatoes were quite bland. Small little restaurant with very friendly staff and tasty food. Our order was made fresh so it took about 10 minutes. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted cozy. They use a ciabatta bun rather than brioche for chicken sandwich. It felt as though it was about to be too much, but it was not and every bite was a good one! We are stuffed and happy. read more

I'm not okay with this. For years, I was able to avoid the lure of fried chicken. I just wasn't that into it. I never craved it like I craved other things. I had it maybe once a year, and only because someone brought it to a potluck or something. Recently there's been a shift in the tides. Within a month, I've gotten Krispy Kajun's twice. What is happening? It all started on Valentine's Day, when our ideas of a romantic gift to each other was to indulge in a food we never let ourselves indulge in. Fried chicken seemed like a reasonable choice. We'll just get the coleslaw to make ourselves feel like it's a balanced meal. "Hey, this place has good reviews and it's close by. Let's get take out! Oh great! 8 pieces with biscuits and a side for $20. Sure beats a steak dinner haha! Wow, this chicken sure is crispy. I never expected it to break apart all flaky like that. Damn that's good. The meat is so juicy too. Wasn't fried chicken always kinda dry? Damn, I don't remember fried chicken ever tasting like this". And with those thoughts, I was hooked. The next time we had a party, we ordered take out from Krispy's and everyone slid down the slippery slope with us. Along with the chicken, they serve biscuits and a bunch of sides (e.g. fries, mashed potatoes, onion rings, rice, corn). The cajun fries make a great companion to the fried chicken. To be fair to myself and my attempt at self control, I tried to order rotisserie chicken once. Krispy's advertised itself as doing both. It's still on their menus in the store AND online. Fries were delicious, some of my favourite I've had, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with amazing Cajun flavour. only complaint, which brought down the quality of the whole meal, was the bun. Really really enjoyed the chicken here. Every piece was juicy and tender. Maybe my wife and I got lucky that day but we did not have a single piece of dry stringy chicken. I also love how they have daily deals. It kind of reminds me of mcdonald's good ol' days. Anyway, the place is quite small and only has a handful of tables. I assume people mostly take it as take out, so saving money on a smaller space is cool. I honestly will be visiting soon.. Can't get enough! I think the chicken here is better than Popeye's. Went with girlfriend for a late afternoon fast-food around 3 pm. Spontaneously, I thought maybe we can have some fried chicken. I thought of Krispy chicken immediately. They had an advertisement for 7 pieces that's cost $13.99, very good price compare to Popeyes. They also allow you to have half spicy and half mildly spicy, I believe they also serve Halal chicken. The chicken did not disappoint, very crispy. Very delicious. I would have this everyday if it does not raise cholesterol levels, lol. This is a family run business, friendly service. I got a four piece fried chicken here, two thighs and two legs. It came to around $9 with tax. Total wait time was around 20 minutes. I did not see a spicy option on the menu so I was given regular. My order did not come with any sauces or gravy. Chicken was freshly fried. The breading was crunchy and crispy (true to its name) and the meat was fresh and juicy but I thought both the breading and meat were bland and lacked flavour. The chickens are big, probably double the size you get from KFC, slightly bigger than Popeyes. The meat is tender and juicy despite the size.. not even a little dry! The skin is crispy. We were greeted very warmly by the staff there and we ordered their 2 chicken sandwich Sunday deal for an amazing deal! Small and clean. Ordered a 12 pc with rice and beans + mash + biscuits. Got home, let my son try it first which loves chix as well and told me that it just taste like it was only seasoned with salt, tried and agreed, daughter and wife as well. Dont get me wrong, its good food, I just expected a lot more bec of the reviews. Hate comparing it to big franchise chix place but I cant help it. It could use more spices to up the taste. A former Popeyes chicken establishment, they've been able to retain the same type of crispiness and taste (mild and spicy!) that I was hoping wouldn't change. So good! Right across Markville Mall, this fried chicken spot owned by sweet couple who used to own a Popeyes, blows their old franchisor out of the water. The best part of this chicken is the crispiness. The crunch basically echoed in my condo after I got their takeout family sized meal. Came with two sides and we ordered fries and rice. 12 pieces of chicken, 6 biscuits, which were perfectly crumbly on the outside and soft on the inside, and all for a very reasonable price. Cherry on top was that we placed the order for pickup, and the thoughtful lady waited until we got there to do the side order of fries so that they didn't get soggy for us. Would have been perfect, but the only thing I could even say remotely in terms of criticism is that the "spicy" chicken wasn't that spicy. It still tasted great though! I came here after reading all the great reviews. It is located right across from Markville mall. At first glance, you'd think that it's some small chain fast food restaurant. The interior of the place is quiet old, with a few wooden tables & desks. However, the server was friendly and welcomed us into the store. They have daily specials that are all below $4. Sides can be purchased with any order for an extra $0.99. We ordered the 7 piece meal with one Monday special, which came with 3 tenders. So for a total of 10 pieces of chicken came up to $14. Not bad at all for its value. We also added the Cajun fries to our order. The chicken tasted a lot like Popeyes chicken, but juicer & bigger. The fries were outstanding ! I only realized after ordering that it's a Halal restaurant, but that's okay. Better for my mom though whenever I take her here! We ordered the Tuesday special, which is two pieces for $2.69, add 99 cents for a side. We ordered two of them, and had the onion rings and cajun rice as sides. The thighs and drumsticks were probably some of the juiciest chicken I've had, miles better than KFC, Popeyes, and Coney Island. The cajun rice was decent, while the onion rings were okay as well, but nothing too spectacular. We ordered a third Tuesday special after finishing two and the cashier gave us a breast and a drumstick. The breast was a lot drier, which I guess was to be expected. I'd recommend spicy taste chicken coz I bearly taste it spicy but the chicken is more flavoured than the original(white).
