Back again for our 2nd anniversary weekend. Came by last year for the first time ever, on a whim,…read moreand instantly named this our favorite spot in Geneva or anywhere else in the FLX area. And for the 2nd time (well, 4th technically - we came back multiple times over each weekend), we had a terrific experience. The staff are SUPER nice here. This time 'round we had Ellie as our server, who gave us great suggestions on the specials and main menu items - and also Justin when we sat at the bar on another evening (super talented drink mixologist). They're just really great at making you feel welcome, you're taken care of every step of the way. The food comes out quick, you have just enough time to relax and chat between dishes but we've never felt like we had to wait long - despite how packed the place always gets (popular spot, for sure). But yeah aside from the terrific service, the main reason we keep coming back is the quality of the dishes they consistently put out there. This trip we got to try the "Friendship Fries" as a moderately spicy, super flavorful appetizer, and then we split a whole branzino in a delicious horseradish sauce. And because we heard great things about their burgers, we came back just now for another dinner and split one of those too - predictably great, barely any condiments needed really. Juicy, well-cooked and tasty as heck. They have a super extensive wine selection from FLX, France, Italy and all across the U.S., but we tend to order from their cocktail menu - just tried the "Ship of Theseus" today. Unique flavor and delightful to sip on. We kinda wanna find another spot in Geneva just so we don't get overly attached, and end up spending most dinners here from now on, whenever we're in town. But so far nothing else has really come close.

5 stars for the service, 3 stars for the food…read more We visited for dinner on a Sunday evening and, thanks to our reservation, were seated right away despite the restaurant being quite busy. The service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly, polite, and attentive throughout the meal, making the experience enjoyable. The food was good, though it wasn't particularly memorable or outstanding. We both love poutine. The fries was good but the gravy was a bit too salty and it definitely need more cheese curds. Overall, it's a great spot for dinner with friends or family, especially if you're in the area and looking for a pleasant dining experience.

The staff are excellent, we had a server who was super charming and checked in on us all evening. Easy process to book a table, helpful people all around. 2.The place itself is snazzy and upscale, but not excessively so; we enjoyed dressing up a bit for a nice dinner there, but didn't feel like the vibe was overly stuffy or anything. 3. The appetizer we split (mussels in a slightly spicy broth with focaccia on the side) was excellent. Easily the highlight of our meal, would order it again in a heartbeat. The downside, unfortunately, is that the main part of our meal was nothing to write home about. I'd found this spot online and booked a table for two specifically to really "wow" my wife and enjoy an excellent meal together, and was really looking forward to some good food after reading all the stellar reviews here on Yelp. It certainly has high-end prices for the FLX (spent over $250 for dinner for two, without a dessert or more than a glass of wine each), which in general I'm happy to pay - if the quality is there, that is. But our entrees were just unimpressive, and actually slow to arrive. Took them a solid 40-45 minutes to bring out our mains afterwe finished the appetizers, but worse was the fact that both dishes (rack of lamb for myself, and short rib gnocchi for her) were simply bland. Best part of my dish were the mashed potatoes honestly - the lamb itself was unseasoned, and the sauce was watery. My wife's gnocchi weren't terrible, but the sauce had an odd, almost burnt aftertaste that neither of us cared for. For a regular restaurant, with more regular prices and reviews, we wouldn't have minded honestly - but because this place is kinda marketed as one of the better restaurants in Geneva, and priced as such, having a bit of a mediocre meal left us fairly disappointed. Again, great service and fun spot just to be in, and _some_ of the items like the appetizers are pretty tasty (I'd happily come back for another taste of their mussels and focaccia). But we likely won't be coming back anytime soon, particularly as we live out of town. Hope it was just a fluke and that they bounce back.

And Stonecutter's Tavern is a neat fixture in an already-fun, gorgeous spot. Once you've visited the Winery, toured the lawns in front of the castle, and maybe stopped by Edgar's (the last of which I'm kinda ambivalent about, truth be told - nice staff there but the food's nothing spectacular), I highly recommend stopping here at Stonecutter's for a good, simple meal. They have a bar area that you can order their signature Wine & Ciders at (along with just about any other drink you can think of), and you're allowed to take those drinks right outside to the Fire Pit they turn on during the evenings (you can even see the stars as you lounge outside, really amazing little spot). Beyond that though, it's a regular, casual dining spot. My wife and I have tried several menu items over the last couple of years, and our recent meal of Chili + Fries next to a very tasty grilled corned beef sandwich with sauerkraut & melted Swiss cheese was perfect for a no-fuss lunch together. Staff are super accommodating and polite, day or night. We actually showed up just after closing on Sunday night, but they still fixed us up with a couple of drinks so we could go outside and sip by the fireplace. Definitely recommend a pitstop here for anyone touring the Seneca Lake wineries or anything along those lines.

However, after waiting 30 minutes for a table in Stonecutters we finally got a call and headed to get a table. When we got to the hostess stand there was no one there for at least 10 minutes while we waited again. As we waited at least three parties queued up behind us. When the hostess (with a very bad attitude) finally reappeared she pointed at a table and told us to go sit down with no menus. I had a feeling right then we were in for trouble but my husband was just happy to be out of the house. So we sat, and sat, and sat, and finally she brought menus. Then we sat and sat and sat again waiting for a waiter who showed up about 20 minutes after we were seated. We were ready to order but he just wanted drink orders. He wrote nothing down and remembered even less. Then he brought us a lemonade which neither of us ordered. The weed gummies must be good in this part of the country. We ordered drinks and soups. The soups didn't show up until dessert time. Waiters who write nothing down should be jailed or flogged. We're undecided which. I ordered a turkey panini that allegedly had cranberries on it. My husband had a patty melt. I ordered a salad on the side. I got fries instead. We waited forever for the main courses and when they finally arrived there was no ketchup or mustard. We asked for it but it never showed up. My turkey panini was bland as hell with no discernible cranberries anywhere. And the fries I didn't order were gross and soggy. But I didn't dare ask for a salad knowing I wasn't going to get it. We are currently driving home wishing we had gone to Applebees or Denny's instead. The waiter was pleasant but totally unaware of how slow and frustrating he was. WRITE SHIT DOWN. And move like you have rent to pay please. Even still he had the confidence to ask for a tip. Good for him. It was a bold move after having to apologize every time he approached the table. My husband tips everybody way too much all the time. But this time he looked this guy dead in the eyes and said "10%" with no hesitation. I've never been more in love. If you want to witness the worst service and mid food in the country, definitely go here.

I recall the soft-shell crab appetizer being one of my favorites from my previous visits and I had to opt in for it. I found this time around; the soft-shell crab was of a smaller size and clumsily presented. As for the Blue Mango Tuna, these were tasty and we had no complaints there. For entrees, the girlfriend opted in for the Teriyaki Steak Bento Box. The steak was tender, and a huge highlight was the tempura. Hot, crispy and perfectly fried. As for my Sushi Deluxe, I was a bit disappointed. The salmon tasted off, and as much as I don't personally like tilapia, even by tilapia standards, these weren't good. I did however enjoy the yellowtail since it was a cut from the belly section and the sweet shrimp (a la carte). We found our server to be on the dull side. He came off as if he hasn't gotten sleep in a few days and didn't seem too happy to be there. This is just our observation and definitely affected our entire revisit to a favorite restaurant of mine. We can also overhear a man at the host stand teaching a young girl mathematics and can overhear her frustration with it. Our Asian Sandwich came with no tempura flakes on top which states it does on the menu. This wasn't the great experience I've had over the years, and I'm on the fence whether to return or just make the drive to Rochester and visit one of the Japanese restaurants there.
