One of my family's all-time favorite donuts. After years living in Orlando and having them close by, moving to KC put us on a hunt for great donuts -- but something about Krispy Kreme still feels like home. So we make the trip to Merriam whenever we get the chance, which isn't as often as we'd like! Loved that the red "Hot Now" sign was on when we arrived -- fresh glazed donuts handed right before we even ordered. That's a win every time! Our girls wanted to try the Girl Scout cookie flavors so we got the Thin Mints and the Coconut Caramel -- both were amazing! If you love those flavors, go try them before they're gone. We also grabbed some of the summer lineup and that Lemon Bar donut is calling our name for next time -- it looked incredible. Nothing better than those hot, right-off-the-line glazed donuts though. I love Krispy Kreme. After ours closed, every time there's a Krispy Kreme, I stop and buy donuts. Well the donuts here at this location were plentiful and fresh. The staff? Not so much. I did buy 2 donuts but not once did I see a smile, a welcome or anything that would hint they were happy to have me as a customer. I felt the employee was rude. Also I didn't feel the employ was clean or happy to be there. I know what, next time I'm in the area of this Krispy Kreme, I will take a hard pass. The donuts were fantastic. read more

I happen to take a drive-through for this place one of the things that I actually didn't know that they had a drive-through, but then as I pulled inside, I didn't find a lot of options there they were really nice people inside. They were kind and nice. I took half a dozen off Krispy Kreme and I took one chocolate Boston cream. We got back home the chocolate Boston cream had really bad liquidy texture. As soon as I opened it something was dripping out. It wasn't a cream. I was extremely disappointed what I found in there. I'm sure the original glaze donuts are amazing but whatever ever was there in that chocolate cream doughnut was awful. The ambience of this place is amazing because you could you get to see the fresh maid donuts all the time. I've been to this Krispy Kreme location a few times recently and it's disappointing. The donuts are not fresh, they have the texture as they've been sitting a day or two which is very unfortunate. Not only that but they are often sold out of basic donuts ex the raspberry filled or sometimes even chocolate with sprinkle. I hope they can do better in the future but I will be taking a break from this location as it is not worth the money. Krispy Kreme holds a special place in my childhood memories and this year on my birthday I decided to relive those memories as well as, grab my free 3 glazed doughnuts (from my birthday reward on the Krispy Kreme app). And since it was Valentines Month, the special doughnuts were heart-shaped and absolutely adorable. I'm not a huge fan of cream filled doughnuts, but the one with chocolate candy bar coating on top was by far my favorite. Sure, there are many more local and higher quality doughnut shops around however, the nostalgia is still there and the original hot and ready glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut will always reign supreme in doughnut land. I would love to give a 5-Star review as this has post does not reflect the quality of the donuts, but rather the attention that the company and management lack in delivering high standards in their customer experience. The hours on Yelp indicate the location is open until 11:00 PM, but actually the business is closed. There are discrepancies on other sites, e.g., Google, indicating that that are open and they are closed, e.g., closes at 5:00pm, but the location is not open when arriving before the posted closing time. I understand that changes occur with business operations, but it does not seem that any effort is being demonstrated in creating customer loyalty and consistency in the service provided. read more

Stopped by the drive-through at this Krispy Kreme location on a Wednesday night at 8:10. Store light on, menu board fully lit. No response at the menu board. After a few minutes I proceeded to the window. Two employees visible putzing around in the store. One looked at me, turned away and went about her business. My son with me checked the website. It indicated the store closed at 8:00, but the drive through was open until 9:00. I blew the horn. The two employees didn't even look in my direction. No closed sign or store hours sign on the menu board or the window. I understand that businesses close, these days earlier than in the past. I also understand that staff can forget to turn out the lights. I understand that website information can be inaccurate. However, a human being approaching your business is a present sale and/or a future sale. Simple respect would indicate a communication at the menu board to say "I'm sorry. We closed at 8." Failing that, opening the window to say "we're closed now, please come back tomorrow." A sign with updated store hours at the window would be appropriate. Staring at customers and ignoring them with obvious intention communicates that the business does not care about its customers. No business is strong enough to treat its patrons shabbily and survive. Seems like a weird system. If they're just going to sell the product you paid for then it shouldn't be an option to preorder. Mondays are rough. A friend asked me to stop and get her some donuts since there isn't a Krispy Kreme close to her. I decided just to go to the drive-thru. The lobby is always closed and if you go through the drive thru their menu is literally a piece of paper taped to the menu board (which is completely torn out) with maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of their actual menu. Being pregnant and seeing people constantly post about donuts, today I finally got my fix. If you've never been to Krispy Kreme you will find the donut making machine running and tons of glazed donuts being made. You are able to ask for a sample of a hot fresh donut if you haven't tried any before. The counter has a variety of donuts outside of the original glazed. You can get glazed chocolate cake, glazed blueberry, glazed sour cream, chocolate frosting glazed donut, some filled donuts and since today was Superbowl they had football and Valentines Day themed items. A dozen of original glazed is about $7.69, while an assorted dozen is $8.69 My favorites are the chocolate cake which if you take it home and heat it up slightly it would be soft and yummy. Original glazed is best eaten hot, since it melts in your mouth and can disappear quickly with just a few bites. The chocolate frosting glazed, can be overly sweet if you are used to regular donut store chocolate frosting over a regular plain donut. Overall yummy donuts, IF warm or hot. After it is cold it's relative to the eater. Not something for everyday as diabetics should most likely stay away I'd worry it's not going to help given the amount of sugar probably used. Also, if it's eaten frequently I can guarantee your waistline will suffer and a trip to buy larger clothes will be in order. read more

The area this Krispy Kreme is located is a dying area, in fact I think this is the only still functioning business on that side of the street. We ran in for just a quick coffee and donut at 10am. The coffee (M) ran $2.87 which I thought was outrageous but they did not have any hot glazed donuts ready so I got a strawberry frosted. I hate writing bad reviews, and I usually give a place the benefit of the doubt first. But I've gone to this particular location for a few years, and it's usually on Sunday morning before Church when there is usually one person (maybe two) ahead of me. There's always one or two workers in the drive-thru, one working the counter, and one who seems to be working in the back just putting boxes together or something meaningless. It is that person that always annoys me because he or she will see that there are several of us in line who haven't been acknowledged, and the worker will continue performing the meaningless task. It's just painfully slow. There doesn't seem to be any attempt on the part of the workers to get us through the line at a decent clip. I've tried the drive-thru, and if it's the guy who's working, he will make me repeat my order two times AT LEAST. One time, I repeated my order four times. If I had to repeat it a fifth time, I was going to drive away.This Krispy Kreme has become more of a farce to me, in terms of the experience. And because there is no donut place on the way between my house and church, I'm stuck with this place. Bleh. LOVE the original glazed in the mornings. Hate them when they've been sitting around. This is the standard Kristyn Kreme. Service was pretty quick and we received an extra dozen glazed for a buck. It was a promotion so good to maximize those types of deals. We had a guest with us who had never been and the kids took advantage of watching the whole donut making machine and the free hats.
