I've had one coffee beverage that was a fall seasonal and it was really good. They had some really nice sounding drinks but I opted not to drink one due to it being a little late in the day for me. The donuts are alway good. They do have a limited supply so depending on demand, you get what you get. But they always seem to have several options. My favorite has been the Bavarian filled donut but the cranberry mochi seasonal donut was a definite contender. Mr. D's is my local little coffee shop. The staff is always quick and friendly. And they have some of the best to-go coffee in this area! The donuts are some of the best I have ever had. Reminiscent of Daylight donuts back in the '80s! I am a glazed donut guy, so I don't get too fancy here with the jelly-filled or rice-floured. I also prefer the puffy dough to the cake... so no real judgement on those either. That said, this place can make you feel that small-town feel. What a donut and coffee shop should feel like. Waiting on an appointment so I decided to run into Lenexa Marketplace and get a small latte. I ordered a 12 ounce hot oat milk latte with sugar free caramel. The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. There is a variety of seating in the marketplace to choose from and midday on Thursday it was not busy at all. We ended up at the Lenexa Public Market on a Sunday morning around 9:30 am. I was a bit surprised that it was more busy, but wasn't going to complain about the short wait for coffee and donuts. I ordered my typical maple bar and opted to try the honey dip donut latte. I was handed a donut immediately and only had to wait a couple minutes for the coffee. The donut was perfection. It was soft and pillowy and covered end to end with maple glaze. The coffee was good. When reviewing coffee I usually comment that I love when it's not as sugary sweet as some of the big name coffee shops, but for this either the espresso was a little too bitter or it was just a bit short on the sweetness. I was pretty stoked to find out that KC had its own mochi donut place. I'm Taiwanese, and I've had mochi donuts before from Mister Donut (a popular chain in Taiwan and Japan). The Ube Mochi Donut I had today ($2.50 each) at Mr. D's was great! The texture was PERFECT. I feel like the ube flavor could have been stronger, but that tends to be a common issue with ube-flavored foods. I am VERY interested in trying their other mochi donuts and yeast-raised donuts. I'm not trying to throw shade on Mr. D's but they wouldn't even crack my top 10 for donuts / bakeries in KC. The glazed and cake donuts were very dry and blah, the apple fritter a touch better but not amazing. Lenexa Public Market has a lovely local vibe and it's easily the most family friendly spot in Lenexa. It's spacious, outdoorsy and now proudly serves the most delicious cappuccino via Mr. D's coffee. Mr. D's opened up after Roasterie closed down and I had begun to worry about where to get our coffee cravings fixed. Not anymore! Why? Because I just had the most delicious cappuccino of my life here a few hours ago. I simply enjoyed every sip- it was a large, perfectly sugared, creamy, frothy, spot-on hot and so very delicious coffee. I selected the round raspberry raised donut and it was delicious! The donut was just the right amount of chewy and had a great texture. It was coated with sprinkles and the icing was a little too sweet but the bun balanced out the sweetness and made it into the perfect donut ever! I went in with absolutely no expectations and came out smiling because the server was extremely sweet. She was very polite and gave me my space to make the selection. I don't think I've ever been a regular at any coffee shop but I think it's time to put on my glasses and head to Mr. D's for a chocolate long John and my favorite, their cappuccino almost every other day. read more

I had no idea this location existed. It's like a food court with different restaurants but no mail and I like it. The only bad side about this location which makes me prefer the other is that it's hard to park. You tend to park far away to come inside. The donut was great I got the cinnamon sugar mochi donut. Would I go back to Mr. D's if I was in the area, absolutely! The doughnut was freshly made and had a light texture, with a perfect chewy bite from the addition of rice flour other than traditional gluten flour. So, gluten free eaters rejoice these fluffy pillows of doughnut goodness can be enjoyed by all.
