The best doughnut in the whole entire city hands down. This place opens like at 5 AM and I see donuts sell out by 7 AM. The only downside to this restaurant/donut shop is that they only make enough for the day and they accept cash only. These are some of the best donuts in town! Their glazed is by far the best. They are best nice and warm. Literally fluffy and fresh!! The best part is that they are very affordable. You can get a dozen for less than $10 bucks and assorted two dozen like the one in my picture for mess than $20. This donut shop does sell out fast so it is best to go early. Let me preface this by saying I'm no donut guru. I associate donuts with occasional Fridays in an office or those rare mornings that I wake up too early and am out of the house. My latest donut adventure came on the summer solstice, when I found myself wide awake at 5 a.m. on a Sunday. Some dude in front of me literally orders up every good looking donut I could see and skips back to his card leaving me wondering if this is really meant to me or not. The selection was SO paltry and the sun had just come up. I couldn't believe that they didn't have more, and I communicated as much to them. At this point, my easy Sunday mornin' was turning into a one or two star experience. Then something changed - I'm talking with the woman running the shop who had been in since 2 a.m. and she shows me miles and miles of donuts that are packed and ready to go for Father's Day. Oh yeah! So it's not typical for them to be down to their last dozen at 6:45, they've just been busting their ass all night to make sure the orders were covered. Makes way more sense. So I'm thinking three stars at this point, and I grab a single glazed and head out. Sensing my frustration, the owner grabs me a warm one. They do a different flavored old fashioned each day of the week. My favorites are the orange and cherry. The glazed donut is one of the best things I've ever put into my mouth. It's fluffy, yeasty, sweet, a little crunch from the frying. And their chocolate frosted long Johns are amazing. Every time I am in town visiting family we always make a trip to get donuts. The best part is you can call them and leave a message of what you want for your order and they will have it ready for you the next morning! That is the best way to ensure you get what you want. There have been times I've gotten a craving and I walk in around 8:30 -9. And they are about sold out. This small mom and pop style donut joint puts a smile on my face every time I talk about it. There's nothing fancy about it. And that's what makes a good donut, IMO. Prices are reasonable but make sure you HAVE CASH! I do not know how long it has been there, but judging by the pictures on the walls, at least 20 years? They don't even have a sign, it just says "DONUTS" and when your product is that good, you don't need to waste money on a fancy box either. Thia place is old school all the way!! I go just for their cinnamon twists (they run out by like 8 on weekends) so be warned. You also can't beat their prices, which is good because it's CASH ONLY, so keep that in mind.
