They are conveniently located near the airport making it a cinch to pick up donuts for your favorite people back home on Oahu. But just be aware, everyone else on your flight has the exact same idea so give yourself a little extra time. The drive through line may look pretty long, but the one inside will probably be longer since everyone in line will be enchanted by the yummy donuts in the showcase and probably take twice as long ordering. Tried the coffee glazed (since it was a limited thing) and it was okay... nothing that great. On island for the day so figured I'd try this out since people always fundraising it on Oahu. Here's a riddle for the locals... Q: How can you tell if someone just flew in from Maui? A: They're carrying a box of a dozen or more donuts from Krispy Kreme. Maui is the only island that has a Krispy Kreme and fortunately, it's near the airport so that's typically everyone's last stop in Kahului before heading to the airport and I'm no exception. Krispy Kreme is so smart to put their shop right outside the airport. During my last visit, someone took a wrong turn from the car rental going back to Kahului airport to pick up the family and I was like, let me get some doughnuts because we are already here! This was 8pm at night but I was super excited to go in and buy half dozen of the assorted doughnuts. The "hot doughnuts" light wasn't blinking but those original glazed doughnuts still tasted amazing. Before flying back to Honolulu, we made another stop to bring doughnuts home. This place was much slower than I expected but it was later in the day, so that must have been why. While pulling up to this easy access location, I felt like a kid in a candy store. Walked in and there was no wait and I was able to order two dozen doughnuts really quick, it felt like I forgot something. This location showed how they make the doughnuts through a clear window and it was more simple than I thought. The ambiance was definitely old school and the inside was clean. Wish I had bought more being that I was taking this back to Oahu but I didn't want to carry too much. Had no problem bringing on and off the plane as well. Don't get me wrong, I love Krispy Kreme and am so glad that my Maui peeps gets to be the first ones to have them in Hawai`i. After we dropped my dad off at the airport, we swung by here to try the pineapple fritter that they do not offer on the Mainland. I have to admit that I have been spoiled by the "hot" light being on quite often at the one at home so the glazed is often still warm. But even in comparison to the other options I have had that are not just freshly baked, I felt that the pineapple fritter and the salted caramel special tasted like it had been sitting out all day. This review is based solely on my experience on Monday, 7/20. Every time I come to visit Maui, my friends and I always make it a point to buy a dozen or so doughnuts to bring back to O'ahu since we have yet to get one on island. This just so happened to be the first time (and LAST time at this point) that I had to get 6 dozen for my family. On this very last visit, I nearly flipped my fricken' lid. We went to the store at about 16:30, and it wasn't too crowded inside. I noticed that no doughnuts were being made on the belt, so whatever was in the display & racks was left for the day. When it was my turn to order, I told the worker that I needed 5 dozen glazed -- and it was at that moment she pissed me off. Before I could even finish my sentence, she rolled her eyes, put the folded box back down, and walked away to look at the racks of how much doughnuts was left and started to make herself all hūhū by making loud remarks of "ahhh that's all of it already, no more, that's all, tell 'em no more already." All the other workers started to chuckle and congregate by the worker who was supposedly helping me, except for one Filipina who was still really nice to me. I made sure to tell the Filipina that I wasn't done ordering, so she took the rest of my order and had the original girl prepare it. I wish I saw Miss Sassypants' name tag so that I could put her on blast, but just know that she was a local sister, heavier set, and she must've been a lead or manager cause she didn't wear the same thing as the other workers. When we got on the shuttle bus, after dropping off the rental car, the driver said "Hawaiian?". He laughed and said "Yeah, it's as good as a boarding pass" (that you are going to another island). $15.65 gets you 2 dozen Original Glazed Donuts. Keep them in the fridge (if they last that long) and reheat them in the microwave for 8-10 seconds just before you're ready to eat. It not as good as a donut right off the conveyor belt, but it's the best us Oahu folk can do. You know, growing up in da 808 is truly the melting pot...........so many different types of ethnicity that bring their customs, & great foods to da islands. Had to go check it out on National donut day. Driving by KK a few times when heading to the airport, we finally stopped in. When we walked in the conveyor belt was empty, it was late afternoon. I guess no more fresh glazed donuts..no biggie. The line wasn't too bad and they were passing donuts out pretty fast. At first I was gonna get the original glazed donut. But when I got to the counter the sprinkle donut was calling me. It was sweet and melted in my mouth from every bite. I should have ordered a coffee with. The employees were quick and friendly. Only Krispy Kreme in the state. Smart people put the shop on the way to / from the airport, which is less than a mile away. Really in a hurry? There's a drive-through! They can pack your order in boxes for the plane so they don't get smushed and they they can pile the boxes of your golden rings of happiness in bags with handles. (Everyone at the airport is familiar with these bags.) Kids of all ages have fun watching the donut conveyor belt, when it's going. There are places to sit inside and outside. This Krispy Kreme is located really close to the Kahului airport ... making it so convenient to stop by and get goodies to take home! So far, during both of my recent trips to Maui, the visit always concluded with a trip to Krispy Kreme. It's the ideal destination whether you're just getting off the plane or hopping on one. The line at this location has never been that long (at least, not during the times I've visited) because the workers are really fast. The lady that helped my family during our most recent visit was good about honoring the current promotion (we were able to get a dozen donuts free) ... not all workers were in the know about it (my cousin's family wasn't told about the promotion, and they were there at the exact same time as us). But, all the workers were speedy and were great at packing our donuts with care, as we were taking them back home to Oahu. My order tends to change with every Krispy Kreme visit, depending on my mood. Here are some of my favorites: Glazed Donuts: This is the staple for any Krispy Kreme order. The fresh, light, original glazed donuts never cease to satisfy. As much as I love the filled donuts and sprinkled ones, I have to get at least one original donut in any order. It's an extra bonus when these donuts come up piping hot during your visit - I've been to this Krispy Kreme several times when these donuts came out fresh; they seriously cannot be beat. Chocolate-Stuffed Donut: I'm a sucker for filled donuts, and this chocolate filled one didn't disappoint. During the time of my visit, it was around Christmas, so this donut looked like a Santa belly (red suit and all). The festive décor made it even more fun to eat, and the donut was stuffed generously with lots of chocolate filling. Sprinkled Donuts: When I was a kid, I always loved the look and taste of sprinkled donuts because of the added crunch and texture from the sprinkles. If I'm getting donuts for my cousins (who love Krispy Kreme), I always get the glazed strawberry donut (it has pink frosting) with sprinkles. If I'm getting a sprinkled donut for myself, though, I opt for the one with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. Cookies and Cream: I'm not sure if this is the actual name of the donut, but one of the donuts here are covered in OREO cookie crumbles and it taste like cookies and cream. OREOs are one of my favorite cookies, so I appreciate it in donut form. There's a lot of cookie crumbles on top of this donut. Chocolate Cake Donut: While I prefer yeast donuts, once in a while, I'll get a cake option. When I do order a cake donut, without fail, it's this chocolate one. I know cake donuts have a reputation for being dry, but not the ones at Krispy Kreme. I love the hardened glaze on top of this cake donut, and I love the chocolate flavor that's still there. read more
