This was our favorite coffee shop during our stay on Maui. The interior is very cute with lots of decor and it's fairly cool inside. Lots of coffee gear on the wall: you can tell they're coffee enthusiasts here. They also sell a few varieties of coffee beans and pastries. Iced latte with oat milk: Smooth, well-balanced, with distinct coffee flavor and the milk doesn't overpower it at all. Pour over (red rooster beans): delicious. I don't normally do darker roasts, but I appreciate the depth of flavor here and the pour over (they used a Chemex) is very well executed. read more

Drinks are worth the treat! The Ka'u drip coffee was amazing! I had it black and you could really state that it's not any regular coffee that you're having. Enjoyed it to the last drop! The mango lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet. It was a perfect non-caffeinated drink. The service was fast and friendly. Really glad we were able to visit this spot! I've heard great things about the coffee here. We stopped by on a weekend afternoon to wait out the rain, and it was a lovely environment. It was relatively busy, so there was a nice chatter in the air. The decor of this coffee shop is so cute - the walls are covered with beautiful paintings. There was also an inflatable dinosaur hanging near the entrance. This shop definitely felt like it had personality. The coffee tasted pretty good - I'm admittedly not the biggest coffee person, so I couldn't tell if it tasted any different from other coffee drinks I've had before. The shop has a wide variety of drinks to select from, as well as beans and other souvenirs for purchase. There's generally a line here but it moves quick. The ambiance is pretty cool inside and service is good! While I think the base coffee and its flavor was very good, the flavor was slightly lacking for my flavored drink which was a Chickory Maple Latte. Came here twice during our visit to Maui, so it's safe to say we enjoyed their coffee. It wasn't hard to find this place (thank u Google maps, LOL!). There's plenty of parking in the plaza as well. It was crowded each time we went, but the awesome staff do their best to ensure everyone gets their drinks in a timely manner. They have cool decor on their walls, as well as, some merch inside for sale. Bathrooms were super clean too (always plus points!). We ordered an Americano and a latte, and both were quite satisfying. Most of the staff were friendly, but one female employee left me a bit disappointed. When I asked her about the coffee bean price, she didn't say "just a moment" or anything -- she simply stayed silent for about 10-20 seconds as if ignoring my question, and then suddenly told me the price. We come here mostly for the Breakfast Bagels. The Ham, Egg, Cheddar Cheese Bagel is our go to and shareable. My son likes to order cream cheese on the side to add on. I get the Bagel and Salmon Schmear if I want a lighter option. There are also a variety of pastries to choose from. Mocha, matcha, green tea, coffee and many other options to choose from to drink. What a great find to grab some coffee after an early morning flight to Maui. The staff are very friendly and professional. We always stop here before leaving Maui to buy bags of whole bean coffees to take home. I'm not sure if the process was changed, but usually we go at the back counter and someone will assist us. But we have been standing there for awhile and few workers passed but no one acknowledged us. So I decided to go in the line instead. Quite the gem for a local coffee shop! I came here every day during the rest of my stay as they had hands-down the best coffee and bagels in town. I always did to-go orders, and the service was consistently fast and smooth. The staff was super friendly, which made the experience even better. Sad to say, Service and food quality has been deteriorating at this place. 3 consecutive visits we've had here, staff would make mistakes on our order, forget to prepare an item or 2 from our order, and we hardly get any, apologies or "thank you for your patience". I don't feel any Aloha from them. Food wise: The eggs Benedict was dry and bland. On our last visit, My friend ordered a decaf with almond milk, no sugar, but it was too sweet. Do they use sweetened almond milk? I asked if they had affogato (coffee with ice cream). The staff answered "we're out of avocados " (for a coffee shop, I think they should know what affogato is)? My sister asked if they have ice cream. The staff said they don't have ice cream, but they have GRANITA. She explained it was ice cream with coffee. (But they have no ice cream?) Some confusion here. Finally we ordered 1 granita, 1 latte, 1 decaf w almond milk, and 1 espresso. All the coffees came without the granita. After waiting 5 minutes, we asked if the granita was coming. The cashier looked blankly and and said "OH". So I said "that's OK, I'll wait, is someone making it?" She asked me "HAVE YOU PAID FOR IT?". I said YES and had to show her the receipt! She didn't say anything, so I assumed she was on it. We waited another 5 minutes, and later I noticed a cup that looked like ice coffee on the counter. I looked at it, saw the writing under "granita". So I took it. Our name was never called, how were we to know? My friend was so disappointed with the service, she went to talk to the staff to say how unhappy we were with the service. All the staff said in response was "What do you want us to do about it?" My friend said : "maybe an apology, thank you for your patience and understanding, hope you enjoyed the coffee?" The staff just shrugged. This was truly non Aloha, the staff here doesn't seem to care about their customers. SORRY TO SAY NOT RECOMMENDING. NOT COMING BACK HERE. read more

After visiting several places on the island in search for coffee that suits my taste, I can finally say Maui Coffee satisfied my expectations. Coffee arrives hot and there's no bitter aftertaste when the coffee cools down. My husband and I love the cookies! Chewey and full of flavor! We'll have to go back to try the other food offerings. On the menu board is listed sour-dough bagel for $2.75 and that was what I ordered with my coffee. They were out of those bagels so she offered me other options. I chose an "everything" bagel. She rung it up and it was going to cost me $7.75. I asked her why so expensive? Reason was that it was "locally made." So I asked for a regular bagel instead, not local, not organic, nothing special. This one cost me $5.25. Even though the menu board listed a bagel for $2.75. So what gives with the attempt to sneakily up-sell and not honor the menu prices? Who knows. Husband is a coffee connoisseur. We were recommended this place by an airport employee.. Boooy are we grateful she suggested it. We flew in Thursday and headed straight here. Hubby had the salmon on an everything bagel. I had the bacon and egg croissant and it was delish! I tried the lavender iced coffee and it had the right amount of flavor. Hubby had regular house coffee and it as up to his liking. The customer service was more than we expected. Beau (the cashier/roaster) was great at sharing his knowledge of coffee. I didn't get the other ladies name, but I presume she was one of the owners and she was beyond great at taking care of us. Service was horrible and food had gone down HORRIBLY. Loved the place because it was a cute spot to sit and the coffee itself tastes good. Kept trying to come here with a smile on my face and friendliness even though each time i feel like me just ordering is bugging the staff. I would legit rather order at a damn starbucks, thats how bad my experiences have been over here. I said my order very clearly and yet somehow it still came out wrong with certain things missing. I tipped very nicely, like I always do in hopes staff will be kinder but theyre still rude and standoffish. After I made my order I sat down and watched as these girls were only kind to the male customers and older folk. Gave me an icky feeling. While waiting I ordered a canoli that was around $8, canoli had to have been at least a day old due to the fact the cream was sour and the shell was soggy. Since they missed something on my order and I didnt get a receipt printed out I went ahead and reordered the missing item without saying anything because I didn't want to make a fuss, didn't tip due to the fact I already tipped on the first order (that came out wrong) and as soon as the girl finishes ringing me up she seems immediately irritated. A coffe run that shouldve taken me 20mins max took me 40+ minutes. Never coming back, I've tried numerous times to give this place the benefit of the doubt but these workers seriously need to learn either some kindness or some self esteem bc they are just miserable. read more

If I could give zero stars I would... Unfortunately today was my last time going to Maui Coffee Roasters and moving forward i'll be spending my money where basic customer service exists. I just left the store about 30 minutes ago and the experience left such a bad taste that I had to create an account to share. This also wasn't even close to my first time, as I regularly buy whole beans from here since I live close. The situation; a couple in front of me placing an order, no one else is in line but me. When they finished up, a new couple walked in the door and went right up to the counter completely disregarding me standing there holding bags of beans waiting to pay (had been standing there the entire visit in-store as I only buy whole bean bags right in front of counter) and the girl behind the register made eye contact with me but said nothing only to then start helping the new couple that came in and started ordering like they owned the place. I gave a "huh" look to her as I was confused what was going on but then I felt completely disregarded and to top it off, intentionally. Never once was I greeted by any of the other employees walking around or behind the counter. The low/depressing energy, off putting vibes and the customer privilege i witnessed was loud enough for me to put the bags of beans back on the shelf and walk out. After reading other 1 star reviews about similar customer service issues amongst other complaints about food quality, prices, employees etc, it seems to me that management/ownership just doesn't care to address it. Maybe they don't see a problem as long as the money is coming in. Who knows. But it's becoming increasingly harder to support your local businesses when they show they really could care less about having you as a customer. Quite sad really and hope they get it together, but regardless this place will never see another cent from me. Aloha read more

I have been here several time. I like the coffee a lot better than the big chains plus I know this is a local owned business. The prices are decent and they use better quality coffee than the big chains. The food is always fresh. This time around we ordered a flat white and a cold brew for drinks, had the ham and cheese everything bagel.the food was tasty and the service was quick and friendly.this place definitely has more character than your typical cookie cutter chain.
