I'm not a donut kinda person....I know so sad. So when my son asked if I wanted anything from Krispie Kremes since he was going to be on a layover from Las Vegas before coming home to Oahu. Let me start out by saying the only problem with Krispy Kreme...is they're not on Oahu. (Lucky people on Maui, grrr) It has some of the greatest donuts I've ever had. Their glazed donuts are like eating cotton candy in a donut form. Tasty and very light. Of course after downing a few dozens, that may not be true for you. LOL! They have a wide variety of filled donuts, donuts with various toppings, etc. Easy to find (across the street from Costco, another favorite hangout of mine...) and the restaurant is always well kept and the staff is helpful and courteous. For those in a hurry, they do have a drive through window to speed things up. Yes, they do have bags for boxes of donuts that can be handcarried on the flight back to Oahu. (Thank goodness!) I eat Krispy Kreme Doughnuts quite regularly. I mean, it's kind of a go-to in offices, potlucks, etc. and really who could resist those delicious, calorie filled original glazed donuts? I'll happily eat a few in one sitting, just don't remind me how many calories I've over indulged in, please! Hehe. Anywho, we'll go through the drive-through every once in a while and on even more rare occasions, we'll actually step into the store. On my most recent visit, we went inside the store; mostly because I wanted my son to see the donut production line which he was REALLY excited for. I don't blame him. Haha. This last visit I went particularly for the Halloween themed donuts and they didn't disappoint! My favorite of these was the trick-or-treat donut which is an original glazed donut dipped in salted caramel icing and topped with pieces of snickers, twix, and M&M minis. I die, I die. Get it, try it! We ate a few of the donuts inside and I was surprised to see so many people coming in after us. I guess everyone had the same idea. Seating is plentiful inside though and I loved the retro theme. Good place to stop in to enjoy a sweet treat for sure. They even have fresh brewed coffee, frozen lattes, hot chocolate, & drinks. This Krispy Kreme is shady af. They used to accept credit card, but all the times we went in the evening , suddenly the card reader is always broken, they said they are cash only. But it's been like more than half a year, and the card reader is still broken? Doesn't make sense. Sounds more like someone is trying to avoid taxes or workers in the evening pocketing cash. We came one evening, and they said cash only so we said okay and tried to get $45 worth of donuts with $100 bill, and they replied with they don't have enough cash for change. How's it that you are open all day and cash only, yet you don't have to cash to give as change? A must stop for me when in Maui. Why? Just because you can't get it on Oahu. I usually buy the two dozen special since it's cheaper. I get one dozen of the original packed in two 6 pack boxes so I can give them to friends. There's an unspoken rule that if you are visiting Maui, you must stop by Krispy Kreme before heading back to the airport. If you don't bring a couple boxes back to share with your friends, you'll never hear the end of it! Each one of us picked out a donut for ourselves. Luckily they were having a deal on two-dozen boxes, so we added those to our order. I got the chocolate sprinkle donut and it tasted pretty fresh, although we weren't lucky enough to get one just off the belt. (They didn't start on a new batch until we were leaving.) I noticed there were signs everywhere that said their coffee machine was broken, so they couldn't make most of their drinks. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'm sure some people would be bummed that they couldn't get a coffee beverage with their donut. Everyone was outrageously excited when we returned to Oahu. We came to search out the Hawaii only special of pineapple fritters and it did not disappoint. Krispy Kreme isn't usually my number one go to because they are super sweet, but we had to stop in here. The manager even offered to put a dozen freshly baked on the next Mokulele flight to HNL! Wow! This use to be my favorite place to stop while in Maui but after my experience today, I was so disappointed in the service that my friend and I received. The donuts were delicious as usual but Trisha the employee who took our order was nothing but rude. She expressed no ALOHA what so ever and rolled her eyes at me multiple times while getting our order. I usually come here because my son looooooves donuts (ok I kinda like 'um too). I have only come here early in the morning before 6 am (they open at 5am) because I'm either picking up donuts on the way home from the gym or picking up donuts on the way to the airport to take home to O'ahu. In the earlier part of the am when I go, going inside has always been faster and the customer service is always great (whether it's drive thru or inside).
