This is my very first review and I am not a person to write them, but seafood is my favorite cuisine so I must write this. I ordered the 'Snow Crab & Shrimp' platter and even though it looks delicious, it is far from that. I ordered a blend of Cajun and Spicy and was completely underwhelmed with both. I was born and raised in Southern Louisiana (Baton Rouge / New Orleans) so my taste buds are trained in Cajun and this was not prepped in that style. Seasoning DOES NOT go on top of seafood, it goes in! The flavor should be inside of the meat instead of tossed on top like decoration. No flavor inside the crab whatsoever. My tastebuds were waiting for the seasonal vehicles to arrive and they never came. The shrimp were nice size, but once again, the outside was pretty but the inside was not. I have no idea how shrimp can taste like water mixed with half-a** seasoning. It was like my mouth was getting the spice... but with no flavor. It's like I dabbled a pinch of salt in a cup of water and that was it! Nothing popped out that spoke Cajun or spice in this platter. Hopefully you guys read this, take a trip down to some real southern style, Cajun blazing, spicy nicely places in the heart of Cajun country and learn how they do they thang! All love, but come on! I ordered with door dash, the food came earlier than was expected. I got the original flavor, it was great, but just be aware that they season with a little heat. This was my boyfriend's and I first time trying the restaurant. I am an avid seafood eater so I know what GOOD seafood is supposed to taste like. This is NOT what it is supposed to taste like! Let's start with the outrageous prices.. for a pound of crab legs, a pound of shrimp, and 4 pieces of catfish was 80 dollars..... The catfish was very bland and undercooked because the outside was crispy, but the inside was not done.. as if it was rushed. The sauce for the shrimp and crabs were very oily, dusty, and tasteless if that makes sense. There was so much seasoning on the outside that didn't taste of anything and you could tell the seafood wasn't seasoned well at all because the crab meat and shrimp were super bland, although we ordered "spicy." There was also a smell that Im trying to think of the words to describe but it didn't smell like any seafood that I have EVER had. All in all, save your money and go to JJ's seafood on the southwest side. I'll never betray them again after this UPDATE: Samuel responded to my review that everyone has different preferences and the prices reflect their quality. Obviously they do not if I am writing this review! I have spent way more on seafood of better quality and the fact that his response is that everyone preferences are different is not what a business owner, as myself would respond as. Looking at the review you should maybe fully staff the location or you yourself work there for a week to see what's wrong because there are OTHER reviews that state similar things I have mentioned! I've reviewed before but this is my final visit. I ordered and was asked what car I would be in and told my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later. Since there was no parking directly in front I called to let them know I'd arrived (since they asked the type of car I'd be in). The biracial employee answered- I told her I was here and she hung up on me. Like really. How I know it was her.....this isn't the first time she's been rude. Let's start on the fact that when you call they never answer. I was able to finally get an answer placed my order and she said that orders over $40 would have to be paid by phone or else they wouldn't start the order until I arrived. That was irrelevant because my order was less than $30. I placed my order by phone, show up, pay, and THEN she barely put my order in. So I had to wait extra time. I even asked if the order was placed and she lied and said yes. Then I heard her go back and give them the order. What's the point of call ahead ordering? Smh. And the employee wasn't even nice. They have 3 levels of spice, we liked the cajun. I enjoyed the hard boiled eggs mix. My mannnnnnmn y'all this is some good ole food. Man when i tell you for $50 we got 3 clusters of snow crab, a bunchhhhhhhhh of shrimp, sausages, eggs, potatoes!!!!!!!! We had so much food we took half of our leftovers to my mom and still had an entire carryout tray of food. Dang man I love it. Decided to give this place a chance since I heard such great things. And I was not disappointed! From the staff to the cleanliness to the food, everything is A-1! Really closer to 2.5 stars. It's pretty average. We ordered the #1 to go which is 3 snow crab clusters, shrimp, etc. It came in one of those foil baking dishes. There was literally an inch of butter in the bottom. I dont get that. Absurdly unnecessary and not cost effective. The flavor was what you would expect from food drowning in butter and garlic. The sausage wasnt unique, the shrimp I'm pretty certain were frozen prepackaged type, and not much you can do with snow crab legs. A couple hard boiled eggs are in there which is....odd. The price isnt awful. Pretty consistent for the area. The restaurant itself is pretty meh, plain as heck so no real reason to dine in. I'm a little surprised they didnt do more for a grand opening. I saw the sign go up a couple months ago but didnt even realized they had opened till I saw reviews here I wish them luck but theyll likely need to make some changes.
