Chicken pad Thai was bland, didn't taste much like pad Thai. MORE importantly: I choked on a long piece of string/rope that had been cooked into the dish. When I showed them, the owner offered a 20% discount because "you had eaten most of the dish" and "accidents happen here in the kitchen all the time" When I said "I hope this doesn't happen all the time" she came back with "this never happens" and "you didn't get hurt, it's just rope" WTF? I know accidents happen, but offering a discount based on the percentage of food that's left is absurd. I had to ask twice and she was still pushing back, and very dismissive. The shrimp udong was perfect! Probably the best I've had in Corvallis. Great flavor, not too bland and not too salty! I just wish there would be more than two shrimps in it! Living in Lebanon, there isn't any Korean places nearby, so I have to drive to Corvallis to get my fix. I didn't really know what to expect when I first came here, but I would say I expect good things now. Koriander is a decently sized restaurant with a good sized menu and a gelato bar. The items they have on the menu are what you typically expect of Korean restaurants. When I came, I ordered the dukbokki and pork katsu curry. I never had the dukbokki but it's pretty much these chewy rice cakes that come wth a red sauce that isn't really spicy, although it looks that way. The pork katsu curry was more food than I had expected, but that's a good thing. It came with rice, japchae, salad, and potatoes and other fixins that are out in the curry that is out on top of the pork katsu curry. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back here soon. read more

Koriander has decent food. For my shrimp udon, the broth was perfect - not too salty and not too sweet! They even included an egg in my soup, which is something that many restaurants leave out. Portion size was also very decent. However, the soup wasn't perfect. My soup was scalding hot when I got it. I used up all the ice from my glass trying to cool the soup down. Even after all that melted ice, it was still too hot to drink directly from the bowl. The service could also use some improvement. Service was a bit slow even though the restaurant wasn't full. Excellent Korean food. Service could use A LOT of improvement. I ordered a Kimchee Stew that was served still rapidly boiling and steaming in a ceramic or cast iron pot on a wooden base. The waitress gave no warning of how hot the pot was, though it was obviously still VERY HOT. Forgivable. But the meal also came with a metal container with a lid. I had no idea what it was, so after she set it down on my plate and left without a word about it, I tried opening it. But I found, to my surprise, this VERY HOT, too hot to touch without a napkin. Several other people around me ordered sizzling dishes and I heard no warning not to touch the very hot plates. What if I had burned myself, or if a kid had burned himself or herself, by grabbing something the waitress knew was piping hot but said no words of warning? This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Anyways, the Kimchee Stew was excellent - great flavor, perfectly cooked tofu. I wish there were more ramen noodles, but it did come with a side of rice that was sufficient. The stew stayed really hot for a really long time. I needed a cooling drink but the waitress did not come to check on me. She finally refilled my water, but she didn't ask me how everything was. I had to ask her for a Thai iced tea. She was very helpful once I got her talking. I wanted a cold drink without dairy, so she said she could do the Thai iced tea without the condensed milk. Great service there! But it did not make up for her inattentiveness all the rest of the meal. I would come here again to eat more really wonderful Korean cuisine, but I hope the service is better next time I come. read more

This is my favorite Korean Restaurant in Oregon. Comming from Atlanta, GA, I do have a really high authenticity standard for Korean food and Koriander really meets the expectation. Have been here for more than five times and never been disappointed. Portion's really huge! One dish can easily feed two people. My favorite is Kimchi Omurice and Cury Katzu. Decent place and ok price and ok food. We have been there twice after our first experience was good. But second time, they messed up big time with my wife's order. Though we told them clearly that we are vegetarians, they served Shrimp tempura which my wife didn't realize until she ate half of it. They didn't even mention on their menu that they would serve shrimp! On complaining, they had nothing to say and didn't even offer to replace the food. We were in Corvallis from The SF Bay Area to attend an Oregon State's orientation and were really happy to find this place. It was busy on a Wednesday evening at 7:30 but not overcrowded and loud. Our food was excellent. We ordered bibimbap and agreed that it was better than the bibimbap we get at home. We skipped the gelato but plan to go back for it again before we leave.
