They have Sapporo on tap which is nice. Also had the edamame as an appetizer. The server wasn't super on top of her game so the sushi boat sat for quite awhile before I finally said something and she realized it had been ready. Not the end of the world but definitely a training opportunity. The sushi was good--not great. But it was also priced in that range so no problem. Good portions making it a good value. No complaints and everything was within expectations.

We've been going to Sugoi Sushi in Corvallis for over a decade. We appreciated the value - both in…read moretime (it's very fast) and cost (reasonable pricing). The sushi was never the best, but it was better than grocery store sushi and didn't cost $200 for a family of four. About two years ago, Sugoi changed hands. It has been a steady decline since then. Most of the rolls now have fried shrimp/cooked fish or cream cheese - both of which I avoid. There are never enough servers to take orders or sometimes even bring water out. And last night, the whole place was so disgusting we felt dirty after eating there - the belt itself had sticky fingerprints and old splashed soy sauce all over. And it looked as if the train was corroded, with white powder between the belt links. It felt like cleaning had been neglected for ages. To boot, I got sick this morning... Likely from the food there. I pains me that we've lost another fast, family-friendly option in Corvallis, but I recommend avoiding Sugoi Sushi.

First time here, some friends & I came in for an early dinner and it was not busy. We were really…read moreexcited to see they had Korean BBQ and all ordered meats we could grill. Turns out we could NOT grill them, but this was not explained to us when we ordered, and then had an extremely weird & uncomfortable meal. A man working at the restaurant came over with the raw meats, stood there the whole time, grilled it, wouldn't let us do it ourselves, which was weird enough, but then proceeded to tell us what to dip things in, how much salad to serve ourselves, what to eat the meats with, what not to eat meats with, and was generally bossy. Supposedly this is due to customers coming in not having done Korean BBQ before and not knowing how long to grill meats, however we had all been to Korean BBQ joints before, and knew how it worked, but were not asked. We just awkwardly sat there in silence as none of us felt like continuing our conversation until the guy was done and left us alone. (3 different meats we ordered, one cooked after another, no say from us on how or when) Staff were friendly enough and food was good but this was weird and I won't be back.

On such afternoons, I often find myself wandering--letting instinct guide me rather than intention. It was during one of these aimless drives that a simple word, "Gelato," caught my attention. Curious, I stepped inside. The experience unfolded with quiet efficiency. After noting our names on a modest waiting list, we were seated within minutes. Seeking guidance, I asked about the house favorites--always a telling measure of a kitchen's confidence. Soon after, a freshly prepared, steaming dish arrived at our table. It was immediate, honest, and deeply satisfying--proof that even unplanned moments can yield unexpectedly refined pleasures.

We ordered fried calamari, slow cooked beef short ribs, and the slightly spicy, shrimp ceviche, marinated in coconut milk base with various other spices, with fried wonton chips. The food was above average, but I felt like the ceviche could have had more fresh herbs to complete the dish. The beef short rib had nice flavor, but was slightly tough to cut, especially when all I had was a butter knife to attempt the task at hand.
