Always a great place to go for some quick and easy sushi. They've got good prices and I like watch the train and seeing what I can try next. Service is fast and waiters are quick with requests. The only thing is I have an allergy to shellfish and with the train sometimes it's hard to tell what has shellfish in it like a lot of them have crab. Sugoi Sushi is one of my favorite conveyer belt sushi restaurants! Conveyer belt sushi restaurants usually have poor variety and quality, but Sugoi is much better! They always have a lot of sushi on the belt, and you can see their chefs constantly preparing fresh sushi. While the quality isn't amazing, it's still really good- much better than other conveyer belt sushi places in Corvallis. They have a good variety of popular rolls. You can always ask the waitress or chefs to make a specialty roll if it's not on the belt! Besides the rolls, they also offer non-sushi items, like noodle dishes and desserts. My friends and I loved eating here while I was in college. You can really fill up for a small amount of money. I usually spent between $10 - 15, and I was STUFFED when I left! Even the guys with really big stomachs were able to fill up with $15 - 18 worth of sushi. The restaurant has plenty of booths and tables- great for small or large parties. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating for me and my friends. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant! read more

Wide variety of Pretty decent sushi with an Innovative way to deliver it. I had seared and peppered ahi tuna, sashimi tuna, crab sticks, cucumber salad and sesame balls. This place is good and solid. We went during lunch and it was easy to get seated. There was hardly anyone there since I think they just opened so the atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. Our server was well-spoken and explained how the plates worked and what the prices were. After that, we began taking food from the revolving conveyor belt and were pleasantly surprised about how good all the food was. You have your basic rolls like California Roll and Rainbow Roll but they had their own twist on things like a shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, etc. Very yummy. read more

This place used to be a solid 10/10--well-priced, generous portions, and a fantastic menu with plenty of options. But ever since it was bought out by a chain, things have gone downhill fast. If you're not into spicy food, you're out of luck because almost everything on the menu now has some level of heat. They've scrapped most of the old favorites, leaving only a handful of rolls. While some of the original staff stayed on, the new team has been consistently rude. The woman who took our order over the phone, who I heard is related to the new owner, comes across as entitled and dismissive. Service from anyone not part of the old crew has been terrible. To top it off, prices have gone up by at least a dollar per dish, which makes no sense given that the main clientele here is broke college students. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if this place goes out of business by the end of the year. read more

This was my family and friends go to sushi place in Corvallis. However the second we sat down and saw the new menus we were sooo disappointed. Most all the original employees were gone. Not only did the prices go up yet again but some of our favorite staple items that we go here for like udon and spicy salmon were taken off the menu. We were very sad to find out the owner had sold it to a corporation. And thats the beginning of the end for us. The corp doesn't seem to have any knowledge of what actual sushi is. Classic sushi like yellowtail is being served with minced RED ONION and some other topping on it. I love red onion but it has no place on these items! You're completely taking away from the actual sushi which is the whole point. This is some clueless white washed concept changing classic items with flavors and seasonings that have no business being on them. There's weird red spicy seasoning on the spicy tuna and other rolls that's not good or complimentary at all. And what was probably the worst thing was this creamy coconut syrup that was put over one roll. We thought it was kewpie Mayo or something but nope! It was spit out your food bad. It tasted like weird flavored sweet icing on your sushi. The Mt Hood roll was changed to have the weird minced red onion toppings etc and it's now cooked salmon instead of the raw. Everything that made it what it was is gone. This roll including a couple others with the cooked salmon were super dry. Most every roll was disappointing and seemed to be altered. The vegetable tempura was primarily just small pieces of onions and a few pieces of broccoli for $11 so basically just onion rings. Most of the sushi on the conveyer belt was your basic bottom line rolls of just different california variations, salmon/cream cheese and the fake crab sushi for like double the price of what they use to be. Before we were always pulling plates off like every few min. They would have unagi, albacore, yellowtail, different salmon sushi, tuna, mackerel, salmon roe...but we sat there for a good 10-15 min not grabbing anything bc there was no real variety and the toppings or seasonings made them unappetizing. I just don't get it. What they did to these classic items was a bad call and not justifiable at these prices for any real sushi lover. Save your money for something more legit. Fortunately the original owner still has his other sushi restaurant called Oishii Sushi in Springfield! It's basically the OG Sugoi menu so we will be going there from now on. I will be surprised if this place lasts. This seems to be just another investment to add to this corporations portfolio and by no means do they know how to make this an actual good sushi place. All they had to do was leave it the way it was. The prices, the menu and how the sushi was served. That's what we all came here for. U might as well go to a regular sushi restaurant now. The price was $30-$40 over what it usually is for us and we got half the amount we usually do. So long Sugoi we will miss the old you! read more

Waited 10 minutes to be seated in a mostly empty restaurant but that was fine. Once we were sat the server (he didnt have a name tag) didn't come back once. We ate 7 plates of sushi between the two of us in 40 minutes from the conveyer belt and he still had not checked in to even order our drinks. We also wanted to order specialty roles but never got the chance. The plates we did have from the conveyer belt were ok, nothing was bad but we also didn't get to order the rolls we wanted. I was getting very thirsty so I thought maybe we were supposed to get our own drinks from the machine since it isn't behind a counter and so I got up to fill up a cup of water. The server immediately came up and told me I wasn't supposed to be there it was a health hazard, and I said "I'm sorry I thought since you haven't brought any drinks this entire time, or asked us if we wanted any we were supposed to get it ourselves." He told me he would get the waters. Well another 5-10 minutes goes by and he finally brings us 1 water. Not even 2 waters for 2 people. I asked him politely if we could have another water and he said yes then never brought us another water. I've never sat through an entire meal anywhere and not been able to get a drink. We didn't get to order any specialty rolls or drinks because the server was that inattentive. The place wasn't even full. read more

I was very happy to see Sugoi spring back from the ides of COVID, but I must remark that many of their staff appear quite sullen of late. It used to be such a welcoming place. Now, Lucy is the only decent waitress left. And the chefs always seem to be in a grouchy mood. One waitress, I am not sure what her name is (long dark hair, kind of pudgy, glasses), has my vote for Worst Server in Town. Total opposite of Lucy. Very pushy about telling you where to sit and even though the restaurant was generally vacant took FOREVER to get our order. I mean, we were sitting there staring at her for five minutes, and instead of taking or order, she kept rearranging place settings and other inconsequential tasks. Finally, she saunters to our table and says: "so, would you like to order something?" No, I came here to get my car fixed, baby. Then when she does come back with my yakisoba, eons later, she slaps it down in front of me like roadkill. At the end of the meal, we have to stand and act like we are leaving in order for her to bring us the bill. I wouldn't care if it was Taco Bell. But $50 bucks on sushi is significant enough that you expect some goddamn service with your meal. The management out to encourage Lucy to give this girl some tips on conviviality and comportment. Overall, the sparkle at Sugoi is fading and Lucy is the only thing keeping it alive. Managers take heed! read more

I really like this sushi place, especially now that the boat is back open. The sushi is always fresh and the staff does a good job with service. The boat is always full, even during the busy dinner rush. You can always order off the menu as well if your dish isn't on the boat. My only gripe would be that the iced tea is not always available, but it's not enough to lose a star. read more

The Miso soup was terrible. Bland and cold. The takoyaki was gummy. But all the rolls were tasty. We had the Mt Hood, Mountain, Alaska, New York, Fireball, Salmon Hand Roll, Veggie, Dragon and Tempura California. My daughter absolutely loves the sesame balls. My roommate and I usually have a great experience coming here. However, tonight, that changed. There was a minor misunderstanding with seating arrangements, and then the waitress (her name was Lucy) starts talking badly about us very loudly RIGHT in front of us and to the kitchen staffShe said things like "I hope they try to order something because I'm not taking their order," and "I don't know why they're being so f***ing rude," when we weren't. When I confronted her, she called me rude and said I had an attitude which was supposedly a valid reason to talk about us for 10 minutes. She and the other girl working were extremely unprofessional. I said that we didn't want any trouble, and even apologized for the misunderstanding. She proceeded to talk to me like I was dumb. The sushi is affordable and good for the price. I used to come here when visiting my friends quite often but now we only order online because of the questionable service. While one or two of the workers are amiable, the majority of the staff here take their misery out on their customers. I have been witness to and also have experienced multiple times where waitresses were snappy or simply rude, which is completely unacceptable in the workplace. Decided it best to try the sashimi plate rather than take a chance on what had, presumably, been spinning on the carousel for the last few hours. We have visited this conveyor belt sushi spot twice now. The first time was for lunch, and another for dinner. There's plenty of seating, with both booth and conveyor belt options. Staff looks like mostly OSU students, which means friendly and pretty chill atmosphere. During our visit during lunch, we didn't have to wait for seating, and for dinner we waited about 7-8minutes. The first time we went, we were stoked for cheap sushi! Two full bellies for $23. Quick, fast, and easy. However the second time, we realized the sacrifices that must be made for quick, fast, and easy sushi. When we were sat, the area felt very unclean and smelled of a dirty dish rag. The first time we didn't have to order anything, and simply waited for the dishes to come around. During dinner you pretty much have to order due to the scarcity of plates circulating. That being said, at some point we did witness a tamago roll circulate for 10 minutes. It doesn't seem like they have a system to pull food off the conveyor belt. Which means you just never know how long that sushi has been making its rounds... With ordering the sushi, it take about 5-10 minutes to be prepared. Upon the arrival of our Salmon Skin roll we hilariously noted the substitution of carrots for cucumbers. No one told us they were out of a specific ingredient, they just kind of switched it up without any heads up. We got a real kick out of that Most of the rolls are imitation seafood, tempura, deep fried, and saucey. The actual seafood rolls aren't bad when combined with soy and wasabi. If you're looking for quick and cheap eats then this is a good spot for it. However, we think two times was enough to make us steer clear. read more
