Finding foods that had flavor was a real struggle, we tried all the recommended top dollar seafood and steak places. They were over priced with nice locations, but not what we were looking for that great flavors that would bring us back for more. Then we finally gave Noodle Cafe a try. It's been maybe 1.5 years since we met Lisa the wonderful owner and first time since we moved here that we started really enjoying eating out again. The food here is always the freshest of ingredients, with flavors that is unmatched and delicious that makes us eat here 4-6 times a month. A lot of places in Oregon that you dine in at can leave you with buyers remorse, my wife can honestly say that is never the case while dining at Noodle Cafe. I promise you if you've never tried it, you will not be let down. read more

Delicious food and so many different choices. Lisa, the owner is so sweet and engaging. We ordered different dishes. Ramen which my kids enjoyed. I had the red curry which tasted pretty good. We shared the chicken fried rice which was tasty. We had a few other dishes that were flavorful. To sum up our experience - it was definitely a lot of food, fresh and tasty. Also, the Noodle Cafe is probably one of the best Asian restaurants in the area. read more

I had a pretty good experience at Noodle Cafe. We got the Mongolian beef and it was super good definitely my favorite part. The noodles were solid too. The only thing I didn't really love was the shrimp, it had kind of a weird taste. I had the Jung Bong, similar to Korean jjamppong, but with a different soup base. I didn't find the broth in this version as much to my taste as I'd hoped, but did enjoy the mix of seafood (1 large scallop, 3 large shrimp, 2 mussels, and some fish) and veggies. And, of course, the noodles were great -- seemed fresh, and wonderfully chewy. Service was excellent; prompt and very courteous. Wait time for the food after ordering was less than 15 minutes. read more

The food tastes home-cooked, they make REAL Asian food in a town full of clam chowders. Not like the Express. There are big shrimp in the seafood pancake, taste fresh and delicious. I really liked the Jung Bong spicy seafood broth, great flavor with lots of fresh seafood, variety of veggies, and delicious noodles, big portion too! Lisa is an interesting person with great personality, she is strong and funny! We enjoyed talking to her listening to her unique experiences. From the outside it looks like a bland, Americanized, Asian restaurant. But, the reviews said we had to try it so for our first evening out in Newport that's what we did. Inside, it's a little odd. There is seating on both sides of the main entry but for some reason the packed us in like sardines only on the right side. This gave everyone a great view of......the expeditor in the kitchen. Not really sure why, but other than feeling slightly claustrophobic it didn't take too much away from the experience. The hostess must be new, she's young and very exuberant. Not a bad thing, she's very excited to do her job and he smile reached her eyes behind a mask so she was great. She is obviously new, she needs experience in panning the floor after helping someone before she heads back to the kitchen. It took a few times to get her attention, but to be fair it was also pretty busy. The older Korean woman was just amazing. Her smile was infectious and she was sweet and pleasant the entire time. Going out of my comfort zone, I tried the Jung Bong Ramen. It is a spicy broth with Ramen noodles, a plethora of seafood including scallops and mussels, and an assortment of veggies including zucchini. I'm not a big fan of zucchini in soups because it's usually mushy, this was very well cooked and still firm and toothy. The array of flavors made my tongue do a jig and I couldn't help but rave the entire time. The shrimp was overcooked, unfortunately, but it didn't take away from the dish really. My wife tried the Prime Rib Pho. Also out of her comfort zone, she enjoyed it quite a bit along she preferred the meat to be a bit less rare. The sprouts, basil and sauce come on the side so you can flavor to taste and she liked that as she didn't like one of the sauces at all and was glad it wasn't already added before she got it. It was her first Pho experience so she really had nothing to compare it to but she would try it again. The portions were huge! Both of us took half of it home for lunch the next day, making the $20 for each dish well worth the price of admission. If I could give a half star I would give a 4.5, but the odd seating and some tiny little errors wouldn't allow me to round up which is why I gave a 4 star instead. We will most likely eat here again, I'm curious to what their fried rice tastes like next! read more

Before going, I was a bit skeptical. We love Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine but have never been to a restaurant that serves all three and does it well. Now we have!!! This place was so good! My son had the Pho. It was yummy! My husband ordered Kung Pao chicken that was full of flavor with tender chicken and vegetables cooked perfectly. I ordered the bulgogi once I discovered they no longer served bibimbop. As much as I love bibimbop, the bulgogi did not disappoint. In fact, I'm craving more! This small family owned restaurant really has some great food and I was impressed with the quality of the food and the care and attention to both its presentation and flavor that they deliver, Curry noodle dish was spot on delicious and several of my colleagues who joined me also rave about their menu choices. This is a nice find. The veggies are fresh , the portions large and the menu offers a selection to cover most individuals' palates. They are also good at allowing menu substitutions . The staff is so friendly and the place is always full. It seems most are locals who regularly dine there as I have seen the staff recognize the patrons and address them by name. However, when first time customers come in, the wait staff is so helpful in making sure the customer is ordering something they will enjoy. My to go orders are always steaming hot, and delicious . The curry dishes are amazing, no matter which one you select. This restaurant sits on a side street so you might have to look for it and the front is a small door but don't let that stop you. Probably gonna catch some heat from locals for this, but I don't care. Wildly overpriced. $6 for a plate of edamame? Unless the table across from us got it for free for some reason, I was able to see the portion of it and yeah. Overpriced. $5 for miso? You'd better make it from scratch, because I know packets of miso paste are like $.25. Our party of four got our food all at different times, my wok-tossed udon coming out first and my man's shoyu ramen coming out 10 MINUTES LATER. The food was alright, maybe four stars if you like Asian food without any real identity. The seafood in my udon was tasty and fresh, but the flavors in the sauce were super basic. My partner liked his ramen; it tasted like they spent a long time on the broth. My friend didn't like her rice, as it was incredibly oily. And her partner got Szechuan chicken and it was way too salty and the portion was really small and there were WAY too many chilis in it that are completely inedible and while I know that's part of the dish, why should we have to spend half our meal picking chilis out of each mouthful of food? You can't even chew them. We asked three times for chopsticks and only got 2/3 sets of them on the fourth request. I'm glad they're so busy and I was between 3 and 4 stars, but I fell back on my old method: if I don't want to go back again, go a star down. Sorry, Noodle Cafe. read more

UPDATE 03/02/2023: I've been wanting to come back here (for my fifth or sixth time) and they were closed recently for vacation. Luckily I decided to come by today and they were open. This restaurant is an oasis in Newport. There's something that happens when you walk in these doors. The owner works very hard to make your dine in a spectacular one. Today I experienced that (once again). I started off with the pork dumplings and ginger tea (hot & fresh). My entree was the classic tonkatsu ramen. All of it was made amazing. I heard someone talking to the owner about their kimchi so I asked to order it. Not only did the owner give it to me for free, she brought the table to my left a small plate of it as well. Such wonderful ethic followed by quality. Following that, I had finished my ramen and there was broth still in my bowl. When the owner came to clear my table, she offered to add white rice to my bowl so I could finish and enjoy the rest of the ramen broth... Unreal. I have never been to a restaurant that has been so welcoming AND delicious. read more

Every single dish was delicious! We had the pho, tonkatsu ramen, tofu lo mein, dumplings, and crab wontons. There was an unexpected spice in the lo mein that was so good, and the tofu and noodles were crispy and perfectly cooked. The wontons were fat and jam-packed with creamy filling.. The pho didn't have basil due to the season, but it didn't seem to be missing anything--it was incredibly flavorful regardless! It's a good thing I don't live in this town, because I would eat here all the time and spend all my money on this delicious food. read more
