Small store across the street from my workplace. The food is really good and owners are very friendly. We had the range of dishes 1) yuk gae jang -spicy soup 2) soon doo bu - tofu spicy soup 3) mandoo gook - dumpling soup 4) kimchi jigae - kimchi stew All of the dishes were very good. It's a little mom/pop restaurant. Many of the Korean restaurants are like this in Eugene. Very homey. I had the shrimp fried rice for lunch the other day (not necessarily an authentic Korean food) but it was quite good- much better than what you get Chinese restuarants - IMO. read more

Korea House was the most delicious Korean restaurant I've been to. We got the chicken teriyaki, bulgogi beef, and beef teriyaki specials. All were delicious. I couldn't taste much difference between the beef teriyaki and the bulgogi. The all-day specials are about $8 each--a good deal consisting of a bowl of light soup, a serving of white rice, a serving of mung beans, and the delicious meat. They also have a lunch special from 11-3 that costs only $5.95. I liked the simple and humble atmosphere of cafeteria-style tables, ordering at the counter, self-serve free drinks, plastic food trays, and menu posted on a whiteboard. There were other Asians eating in here so that is a good sign. The lovely young Korean couple running the place recommended we check out Multnomah Falls. Thanks to them for the suggestion--it turned out to be one of my parents' favorite places on their trip. I would definitely stop by again on the way through Oregon. read more

If I could give this place a 4.5, I would. Their spicy pork is like no other place in Eugene. Possibly, the best spicy pork i've ever had. I'd easily call this the best korean restaurant in Eugene because all the other ones don't compare in taste or customer service. The owners are really nice. They've expanded their menu to include meat jun, which i'm really happy about. Menu expansion is something I really admire in restaurants. It was difficult for me to decide between 4 stars or 5. They're now able to take credit cards, which is really helpful. However, their prices are a little too high for my convenience. This place is an indulgence I really enjoy. read more

Yummy!!! I've been dying to find a good Korean restaurant after moving here and I am so glad to have found this place! This restaurant is not a fancy shmancy restaurant, but more homey in its style which I have no problems with! I'm definitely reminded of my mom and grandma's cooking back home.... As soon as you enter the restaurant (or room?), you can smell familiar Korean cuisine aromas that I was immediately intrigued. My party ordered a kimchi hot stone bibimbap, seafood tofu soup in a level 2 spice, and kimchi pancake. Let me start by saying... You MUST order the kimchi pancake!! I feel guilty saying it, but I think it tastes better than my grandma's... and my grandma makes bomb Korean food. I think they fry it in oil rather than panfry it? I don't know but it's so bomb. The tofu soup was good, but we probably would order it at a 4 or 5. The two wasn't spicy enough and we enjoy a spicy hot tofu soup, but the soup was really good in flavor. The seafood made the broth very "fresh" and "refreshing" (I'm attempting to translate a Korean word into English when describing broths). The bibimbap was okay. I enjoyed it, but I've had better elsewhere only because the rice was a little watery for my taste. I would recommend leaving it in the hot stone without mixing it for a bit to make the rice more dry and crunchy on the bottom!!! Sooo good when mixed with the hot sauce. I stopped with friends at Korea House after driving nearly 900 miles from California on our way up to Seattle. Eugene was to be our only proper meal stop on the trip, and as I was craving some kbbq, Korea House was to be the spot. The restaurant itself is small, and it seems set well for takeout. Eating in was fine, but I gathered getting some table space might be difficult once the U of O started back up. I had a bulgogi plate, which was appropriately sweet and had just a tinge of spiciness. The price on the menu is five dollars more than the advertised price for Bibimbop alone. That is false advertising and very misleading. We went out of our way to go there specifically to try their bibimbap based on reviews and pricing but when we got there and saw they were actually misleading customers with that online menu pricing, we left. If I could give this place zero stars, I undoubtedly would. The employees were unfriendly and spoke to me and my family as though we were unfamiliar with a restaurant setting. If you're looking to eat here, expect to do everything yourself: getting water, silverware, napkins, etc. The tables are extremely dirty as well. As for the food, I was extremely disappointed. Eh I went here a while ago and got food for my work and wasn't very impressed. I dunno, it's hard to find real quality Korean food around here. I ended up getting 6 dishes for me and my coworkers and reviews from them weren't stellar, which sucks because I had high hopes for the place. Being Korean and having been to Korea maybe I'm being too picky but the Kalbi I got was $15 and was not worth it. I could buy 3 lbs of sliced ribeye from Sunrise Asian Market and spend another couple bucks and make my own, which is far superior to what I got there. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere isn't that bad but I really wouldn't recommend it unless you need a close place. read more

I've been looking for a great korean place ever since I moved to Eugene and I finally found it here at Korea House. Noodle Bowl gets a lot of publicity for some reason even though the food wasn't that great and the service was even lousier. This place is about as authentic as it gets - sweet husband and wife team that take your order and cook the food. No frills, nothing fancy, just great food. You order the food from a large wall menu. You take an order number and wait for the food. Any silverware or water you need is at table off to the side as well as a few beverages you might want in the form of soda and snapple. I've been here twice and got the Beef Bul Go Gi both times. I will say the prices are a bit high for the portion size which is why this place gets a 4 out of 5. I paid 7.95 for the "small" which is pretty small. Go during the lunch special hours between 11-3 where you get dishes for 5.95. More bang for your buck. The Bibimbop here is very good and they have excellent Korean food. Like others said, the owners are very nice. One time I went and I noticed the owner saying "Good Job" to the young people who finished their plates. It reminded me of home. Anyhow, I hope to do a good job and keep eating here. The family that owns it is really sweet, the food is absolutely delicious, and it feels so cool to be sitting in a place where you can see the food being cooked by the same person everyday and it comes out served on all these cast iron serving dishes and platters looking like a feast when it is done. I've come here twice, first time trying the dumpling-and-rice-cake soup and the second time, the pork bulgogi lunch special. After both times, I must say that I'm not a fan of the garlic-y soup. I realize garlic is sort of a staple ingredient for Korean foods, but as far as broth is concerned, I'm looking for something more savory and complex-tasting. For that reason, I wasn't a big fan of the dumpling-and-rice-cake soup. The pork bulgogi, however, was so so so yummy. I must confess; I am a fatty. So, I quite enjoyed all the sugar, salt, and fat bits of pork. The rice underneath was also some of the best I've had at a restaurant, so props for the quality. They serve great Korean food at a reasonable price. You have to order and pay before you get your food. Many dishes you can choose the spiciness between 1-5. My only issue is that when you pay with a credit card, a little tablet asks you how much tip I want to give. Well, you go to the counter yourself to place an order, and, go fetch your own food when it's ready, then, take the dishes to the bin after the meal. What part of this process earns gratuity?
