I recently came across this salon on yelp. It is a big and clean place. The prices are reasonable. The reason for deducting two stars is that they have a promotion of receiving one free tan on yelp. I was surprised the second day I came in to redeem the free tan it was not honored. It does not state that it must be the first visit. It's actually strange that the salon would deny a free tan to a returning customer. I may just drive the extra five minutes to the tanning salon where after years of being a client they honored a free tan on yelp. It should be stated clearly on the yelp offer that it is for first time visits , it is not so it is deceiving. It just asks to check in and write a review. read more

This place is definitely a must to try out especially if you're looking for indoor tanning! I think they have other locations also, but I went to the Glendale location. Met the owner once and he explained in detail the different types of tanning beds and expected results. Not only are the tanning results amazing, but this place is very well kept and the cleanliness is impeccable, especially during this COVID time we're going thru. The individual rooms and tanning beds all look super shiny and new!! Extremely happy today that I went because I was able to purchase their platinum tanning package at a great price! Girl at counter this morning was very helpful at helping me choose the right tanning package for my specific needs. Overall, very happy with this place and the excellent customer service! read more

I moved here a year ago and had been looking for a new tanning salon that could match my old place. After going to three other options in the area, I came into Kool Rays, after my nail appt. and I was greeted by Jenny who made me feel so welcome! She explained the beds, lotions, and prices, and even took me to the rooms. I became a member and have appreciated the customer service from all the staff (I'm sorry I'm forgetting the other woman's name I usually see, but she's great too). I have watched this team manage very high volume times, staying in great communication with clients, and always doing their best to make sure everyone's experience is pleasant and seamless. If you're going to sign up, just do the Diamond package - that bed is AMAZING! read more

If your like me, busy a lot, Irish and somewhat social , then you know, when we goto a pool party we get Red, to Pink to White again.. sad but true and I dont know about you, but i don't like glowing when I take my shirt off. So I found Kool Rays about 3 years ago and found the answer. 12 min a couple times a week and its as if I'm now a golden bronze magnet to all that want to see. The staff is awesome, very friendly and the price for a monthly membership is just alittle over $100..that's 3x a week or 12 x a month for only 12 min..check out Kool Rays at 211 N.Central in Glendale and mention my name, Jason Terry, you and especially your other half will not be disappointed. read more

OK. I have to admit that I am a tanning snob. My expectations are really high since I have been tanning for years. My friends have been going to Kool Rays since the 90's (I guess they are one of the first tanning salons in Glendale) and they always been raving about how great it is... so I decided to try it for myself. Wow ! The salon is absolutely beautiful and they truly set the bar up when it come to a tanning experience. The girls at the front desk been so nice and helpful, making sure that I feel very comfortable and all my questions are answered. Their tanning beds are so advance (much more impressive then other salons in the area). Their "Matrix" bed look like something from a futuristic movie and the results were incredible. The place is probably the cleanest salon that I ever seen in all my years of tanning (and I have seen some dirty ones) and it truly felt like being at an upscale spa with the quality of service to match. And the best surprise was the prices !! they have a pretty wide range of prices and specials that they run all the time. The girlie was so helpful and knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect package for me within my budget (I got their monthly membership for only 25 a month) and I absolutely love my results since I started. Over all. I can see how they have been in business for over 20 years by maintaining these high standards. I guess like my friends, I became a Kool Rays fan myself. It is my favorite salon and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Best salon, great staff and amazing results. Can't ask for more. Thank you Kool rays !! read more

My favorite body wrap spot !! I went there last month and purchase few of their infrared body wrap treatments. First of all the place looks beautiful and truly feels like being in a modern spa. The girl at the front was super friendly and knowledgable. She explained to me the whole process, the benefits and the preparation for the treatment. She really took her time, answer all my questions and made me feel very comfortable since I never tried this treatment before. The body wrap room was beautiful, very soothing, spacious and clean and on top of that they have a tv in each private treatment room - so I got to watch my favorite show on Netflix !:) After few treatments I already notice such a big different and I got so many complements !!! Just love my new look :) The only advice that I have - make sure that you maintain a healthy diet if you want the treatment to be very effective. Great place, amazing customer service...look no further !!:) read more

I called last week to get some info and pricing on memberships, the girl that helped me over the phone misinformed me on prices after I went in everything changed. Didn't tell me that they charge membership fee on top of monthly charge and tax which was way more expensive than what I was told. I told her I was upset because I waisted my time going in and out of nowhere she started talking about their competition salon down the street and that how rude they are and don't give prices over the phone basically she was bashing them because I was upset about being misinformed. Very unprofessional and awkward in my opinion. I didn't sign up I left. They need to be honest when giving prices over the phone. read more

I think it's actually Kool Rays. I have been going here for five years. Not all the time, infrequently and for special occasions. The establishment is large with many rooms and is very clean. I rarely have to wait. The employees are all very friendly and know what their talking about. They won't allow you to go in too long and risk burning. The beds are well maintained and there is a variety including a mystic tan. There are many different options for payments, one time tans, packages, points system, membership...there are enough options. I work a lot and rarely get to the beach or anywhere to tan, this place is convenient in Glendale and never lets me down. read more

I went to Kool Rays Tanning last week for an airbrush session. First of all the place looks very chic and modern, very well designed. Truly makes you feel like a pampering experience. The place was very clean, something that is seems that is very hard to find in other salons. The most important thing is that their staff was so professional and informative, they made me feel so comfortable and answer all the thousand and one questions that I had about airbrush tanning. The results were amazing ! I loved how my golden tan looks and all the great compliments that I got on it. I am definitely going back for more ! Thanks you Kool Rays Tanning for the amazing results. read more

Out of the numerous tanning salons I have been to, Kool Rays is my absolute favorite! The second you walk in, you are greeted by one of their WONDERFUL and helpful staff members. You can tell the place is very well kept and organized. Before I started tanning, I was pale and right after the first tanning session, which I went for 12 minutes, I could see a darker result. Other places I had to go a good 3-4 times before realizing I'm getting any darker. The rooms are as clean as it gets and it just makes me feel so comfortable. Thanks to Kool Rays, I will never tan at another tanning salon. read more

I came here for a spray tan before shooting a movie and I was nervous because people always joke about how spray tans make you look orange. I did the custom airbrush and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't orange and it looked very natural. The girl who sprayed me gave me some pointers to make my tan last longer and she even contoured my stomach, calves and arm muscles. I've never had that done before. I was so happy, it made me looked more tone on camera! So anyone who has a photoshoot or a film they are shooting I highly recommend getting a custom airbrush tan. read more

I had such a wonderful experience! Everything was extremely clean, well-maintained, and felt very safe and professional. The equipment was spotless, and I was especially impressed by the high-quality professional creams and products they use. The girls at the front desk were absolutely lovely -- so kind, welcoming, attentive, and helpful. They made the whole experience even more pleasant. I felt comfortable and well taken care of from the moment I walked in. Highly recommend this place! read more

Been coming to this location for yearsssss and simply never wrote a review and I really don't know why but they deserve these 5 stars specially after today's visit and the lovely receptionist Bella's approach to my visit. I was offered a different tanning bed, she listened to my concern and understood my needs and she was such a great help. I don't think I'll ever switch my tanning spa. Thanks everyone. read more

I recently came with a friend who is a member with the salon. I was interested in what services they offer, so I tagged along to get some info. Lynette, at the front desk, was so sweet and explained everything I needed to know. She also sprayed my friend as I waited and it looked amazing. I will definitely come back to sign up for a package and also get a spray with Lynette before my trip. read more

I really wanted to love this training because I chose it specifically because I wanted to learn…read morefrom someone with experience and leave feeling confident doing spray tans on my own. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I spent my savings on this training because I genuinely believed I was investing in myself and in starting my own business. That made the experience especially disappointing. There was very little information provided overall, and a lot of the classroom portion focused on their products and the brand itself. I understand that learning about the products is important, but I was expecting much more education on the actual techniques, equipment, setup, troubleshooting, and practical knowledge needed to confidently start doing spray tans. When it comes to the hands-on portion, you should be aware that you get very limited one-on-one time with Isabell, and most of the hands-on instruction is done with her other employees. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her employees helping with the training, but I do feel this should be clearly advertised and explained beforehand. I specifically signed up because I wanted to train with someone experienced, so my expectation was that I would be getting substantially more hands-on instruction and experience directly from Isabell. I only had the opportunity to practice on one leg and one arm, and even then, I was being guided by having my hand held through the process. For me, the hands-on portion was the most important reason I chose an in-person training. It was also difficult to watch the other students because computer screens and phones being used to film the Zoom portion were frequently blocking my view. There were also many basic things I expected to learn in a professional spray tanning training that were not covered, such as how to set up and unfold the tent, how to properly clean it, what type of fans to use, different types of spray guns, how to load the gun with solution, different solution options and when to use them, and many other practical aspects of actually doing this as a business. I also wasn't told that I would not be receiving the spray gun until I emailed to ask. What really stayed with me is that during the classroom portion, Isabell talked about taking a training herself that left her feeling like she didn't know what to do afterward. I remember hearing that and thinking that she, of all people, would understand how important it is for students to leave a training feeling prepared, confident, and supported. If I could tell her something honestly and from the heart, it would be this: **I wish that experience had made you want to provide an even better experience for the people who come to learn from you, because unfortunately, that's how I feel I am leaving this training. And I know I'm not the only one.** I understand that there is plenty of information online, and I am completely willing to continue educating myself. But that's not why I paid for a professional training. I spent my savings because I wanted to learn directly from someone experienced and leave feeling comfortable and confident enough to actually start my business. What has been especially disappointing is the communication afterward. I have been going back and forth with them regarding taking another class to "make up" for the experience. I never asked for another full class. **I only asked for the hands-on portion that I feel I did not receive during the training I already paid for.** I don't think it is unreasonable to want the hands-on portion of a hands-on training to actually be hands-on. I went into this with high expectations because of the brand and the experience I believed I was going to receive. Unfortunately, I left feeling like I still have to teach myself many of the things I specifically spent my savings to learn. I am still determined to make this business work, and I will continue learning and practicing on my own. But I wanted to share my honest experience so future students know what to expect and, hopefully, so the training can be improved for others. I truly hope this feedback is taken in the spirit in which it is intended. I am not trying to tear anyone down. I simply wish I had received the experience and hands-on education I believed I was paying for.
