Been coming here for over 10 years, I usually come 1-2 times per year, but some times I'll come every month near summer time. I didn't come as much during Covid, but I was ready to start a new package today. I went in today and apparently they no longer give eye protection for you to use while tanning!? Not sure what that's about??? They want you to BUY eye protection. There's no way I'd remember to bring them every time I come in, so I'd have to buy them every time. No thank you. read more

This is the best tanning salon in the area, IMO! Lauren, the owner, always goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Their stand up bed is super powerful and worth the upgrade from the base level. They also have a mystic spray tan machine, custom spray tans, and a red light bed. The only downside is that the Mystic is one of those older ones that doesn't dry you off with warm air after, so it can be kind of messy. COVID PROTOCOLS: Staff wears a mask and does a good job of keeping the place always looking clean. It is BYO goggles and towels right now, although they have goggles available for purchase. Pro tip: If you purchase a new package before your old one runs out you get a free tan! read more

Highly highly recommend this place. An amazing experience at Tropitana. I had never gotten a tan/spray tan and wanted to try one out to even out my tan lines. Don't be fooled by the appearance of this place. It's old, I think they said it was around since the 70's? But you'll love the product. The owner answered the phone when I called to ask about pricing, how it works, etc. Right from the getgo, she was AWESOME. Was super patient and helpful in answering all my questions about the spray tan experience, Mystic vs Airbrush, or the tanning beds. I decided to go with an Airbrush tan, as I wanted something more natural. My tanning experience went great, she taught me how to prep my skin before, what to expect from the tan, and even texted me after to check and see how I liked the color. Great no frills tanning salon. I've only used the "Super" stand up booth but it gives me a great tan in just a few minutes and the bulbs are never dull. Good pricing and packages are available. Owner called me personally to rectify the situation. She apologized and wanted to really find out what happened. I explained her staff behavior and she did two things: 1:) called out the mystic tan service agent to check the machine to make sure it was working properly 2:) provided a package of tans to give her business another chance. I have then since used the package and found the staff to be more helpful and the machine to be back working in proper condition. I really appreciated the owner reaching out to me personally. I went here to get a mystic tan the day before my wedding. I didn't know what shade I needed for that slightly bronzed/toned look, but Lauren was super helpful. She explained that there are 3 Tan Levels, and recommended Level 1 for me since I'm fair-skinned. It worked out great and came out natural looking in photos. The facilities itself were very clean. And if you're like me, you're paranoid about a Ross situation happening to you. It doesn't help that the booth is pretty much identical to the one he used. But fear not, there's a very obvious pause to indicate when you need to turn! I'll pray for you in case though. Tips: 1. Come 1-2 days before your event for the optimal tan. 2. It's a pretty quick process so no appt necessary. 3. You can't shower for at least 6+ hours after, so wear dark and comfy clothes. 4. Listen to Lauren's wise instructions exactly and you'll be fine! read more

This place was recommended to me by a girl in my workout class. She's used the tanning beds and the Mystic Tan. She likes both and has a nice even tan. Although I think her Mystic Tan got messed up because it was kinda white by her foot. As for me, I went in for the stand up tanning booth. I wanted to even out my tan as my arms and face were darker than the rest of my body. They have stickers for free that you can put on so you'll have a tan line in the shape of the sticker. This was my first time tanning so the bright tanning lamps and the loud fan kinda freaked me out, but it was fast! I was only in there for 7 minutes and now I've got a pretty even tan all over. The tanning booth is in a dressing room and the booth itself has a small compartment with a stool that you can undress in. They provide you with goggles which you must use! So, you can tan nude or with a swimsuit on. I don't really burn, but after just 7 minutes my shoulders felt a little burnt. If it's your first time tanning or you burn easily, don't do the full 9 minutes. One more thing, they have relatively low prices and the girl that worked there was really nice. I might come back and try the Mystic Tan sometime. I went back maybe a month later and got the Mystic Tan. I was pleased with the results. I just wished I was more generous with the lotion on my hands and feet. If you don't put a lot of lotion on your hands and feet they'll turn out too dark and look funny. read more

I'm a tanning newbie and I can't say enough about this place! I have very fair skin and burn easily and every summer I end up with burns so I decided to get a base tan. I read great things about Tropicana so I checked it out. The owner is SO NICE and knowledgeable. She showed me everything I needed to know to get a tan going without burning. She dialed in the time just right and we built up a nice even tan with a regular bed and frequent sessions with lower times so I wouldn't burn. It didn't take long for me to have nice glow. I used the cool free stickers to see how my tan progressed (always putting it in the same spot). I wish I had a before and after photo to share. Best of all it really helped me not burn when I got more sun out in the real world than I planned for. I try to wear sunscreen outside but sometimes you find yourself outside longer than expected. I was out of town for a week and went to another tanning salon a few times and it REALLY made me appreciate how great and clean and friendly Tropitana is!! Update : The tan looked best about 48-72 hours later and faded pretty quickly despite no scrubbing during showers. Continued to rub off during drying so pat yourself dry. Back to my normal color by day 6. Original review : My first ever tanning experience was pleasant but the results left much to be desired. I tried the red light treatment before a Mystic Tan. I tan very easily, five minutes in the sun and I'll have tan lines already. Given that, my results may be different from others( in addition to my Asian skin.) I was recommended the #2. Did everything as instructed but I am looking quite a bit orange today 24 hours after the treatment. My face is splotchy too. I used the foot cream and hand cream as instructed but my palms and soles are quite a bit spotty orange. I don't really mind it because no one really sees it but the orange color of my tan is very obvious has a fake tan. Also the machine spray is on your front and back so my sides didn't get as much color so I look like an ice cream sandwich. Maybe I'll try the regular tanning bed for more natural results. Was hoping to avoid the UV rays though. read more

I like the red light booth. I'm into it, tightens your skin, gives you that fresh, relaxed look. For a hundred bucks a month, which is a decent deal, but a little chunk of change, I expect all of the bulbs on the machine to actually be working. In the beginning of the month I mentioned to one of the employees (the dude) that three of the long bulbs were out on their red light therapy machine and they looked surprised, but said they'd take care of it. A few days later I went back, still out, and this time I informed one of the girls at the front, and she also seemed surprised but said she'd take care of it as well.... Long story short: I did my month, and not only were the bulbs not replaced all month, but no one ever mentioned it again. It sort of made me feel like I was looked at as the annoying one for mentioning that they needed to be replaced at all...they're just like, hey, what's the big deal, it's just a few bulbs...get over it!! read more

Red light therapy is the way to go for beautiful glowing skin, I avoid tanning at all costs but the RLT is really the reason why I discovered this wonderful gem located in Pasadena. They have amp parking so there is no need to circle around this location for hours to get a parking space. Let me start this review by saying that I've been a customer for over ten years and I can't ask for a better place to tan. Management changed in the fall and the changes that they've made in such a short amount of time is amazing--and a major improvement. The new owner is amazing and she's hired a staff that actually know what they're talking about when you have questions about products and give a consistent, high quality level of customer service. She's also started to carry paraben free products and makes sure that the place is always immaculate. Other local places I've tried haven't always had a consistent standard of cleanliness or sanitizing, which is disgusting and why I will never go anywhere else. The bulbs are always high powered and changed regularly, which some of the other places in town can't say that they do (I'm looking at you sunsational tan with your bulbs burned out in some of your beds or with your facial lamps that are out). And their high powered beds work better than some of the other places that charge up to $50 a session. (I'm a tanning junkie, I've been around). The mystic is always a good bet if i need color within 24 hours and I've never come out orange or streaky...just brown and even. Bottom line, you can't beat the prices and there's never a wait, which is the most important thing for me.
