Deana is absolutely fantastic and uses high quality lashes that look super natural, and uses great glue so that you can maintain your look as long as possible. I can't even begin to tell you the countless amount of compliments I have received over the years and all of the referrals for first-time lashes I have sent her way. I just got my first facial here with Cynthia and -- wow -- what a good investment it was. I love that the space is a quaint little house that's been transformed into a studio. It makes the entire experience feel extra-peaceful and cozy. Cynthia is down-to-earth, polite, professional, personable, and knowledgeable about skin types/issues. I've always been told that I have an oily T-zone and dry cheeks (combination skin), but Cynthia pointed out that all of the peach fuzz on my face means that all of my skin is oily and needs consistent extraction work in order to stay healthy. Look at that... almost a year from when I wrote my last review. What a coinky-dink. So what's changed since then that I feel like I need to write an updated review? Well, let's see...I still go get my facials from Dionne and my skin has honestly never looked better. I've always had "eh" skin. The kind of skin that isn't terrible, but by no means, does my skin 'glow'. My skin has come such a long way from before Dionne. She really understands skin...never overworks it, never 'over-chemicalizes' it, and never ever pushes products on you. I, still, to this day, use my bought-at-Target Cetaphil. I don't have to use any anti-acne kind of harsh products anymore. The sheer combination of Dionne's magic fingers and great suitable-for-me products (some I've bought from her - i.e., Dermalogica, some from Target - i.e., Cetaphil) that Dionne has recommended, my skin has cleared up and just doesn't need any of those crazy chemicals anymore. I can't sing enough praises for Dionne! Woo! But now, I also go to Deana Mariee for my eyelashes. I first got them because I was getting married and was considering wearing false eyelashes for the big day. My cousin, who was doing my makeup, suggested I look into getting extensions for the day. Because I was already going to Dionne, I knew Deana Mariee did extensions. Seemed super pricey. But when I really thought about it, I didn't want to take a gamble with extensions - considering I love my eyesight, and all. Plus I had concerns about getting extensions (I had heard your real lashes fall out, etc). So I talked to Deana Mariee about my concerns and told her what exactly what I was looking for. Deana Mariee reassured me that all that talk of lashes falling out - it's due to technicians who don't really know what they're doing and pile on the glue...causing your real lashes to fall out (clogging up the pore, glue gets heavy so your lashes fall out, etc). She also suggested that because I had never gotten them done, to come in a good 2 weeks before the wedding, just in cases I had some weird allergic reaction. I did just that and I absolutely loved the results! Two weeks later - before the wedding - after I realized there was no allergic reaction, I went and got a touch up. I loved them so much, I keep going back and getting them touched up. It's been quite some time now since I have had my lashes done with Deana Mariee and guess what? She's right...no signs of lost lashes! And I literally still get compliments on my lashes at least once a week! Fantastic!! And I can't stress enough..just like Dionne, Deana Mariee is sweet, funny, and really cares about what she does. She won't give you products that just won't work for you just because it will make her more money (too thick of lashes, etc). She really cares about the end-product - so once, when I asked for really dramatically thick lashes for an event, she definitely beefed them up, but refused to do anything too heavy and thick, knowing that the weight of the too-thick lashes would drop my real lashes down and they'd start looking wonky. Sorry for the long review..but I honestly can't say it enough... I LOVE MADISON 101!!! read more

Just had an eyebrow and bikini wax from Melinda. It was great! (Kind of masochistic to say it was "great" about a wax job...) My eyebrows were shaped EXACTLY the way I wanted. And the bikini wax was not as painful as expected. It has taken me a LONG time to decide to get another bikini wax because the last time, the little old lady at Olympic Spa nearly made me pass out from the pain. Prices are reasonable: $25 for eyebrow, $30 for bikini. Location is great, right on the corner of Marengo and Bellevue. If you're familiar with Pasadena, it's in one of those cute 1920's bungalows in the residential section. I am now considering eyelash extensions from Deana Marie. She took time to explain it to me on her day off, which was nice of her. But it's pricey - $250 for the application and $79 for fills. YIKES! This was my first facial ever and I found the experience very pleasant (despite the extractions!). The space is very relaxing. In the waiting area, there's a nice comfy couch with a good selection of magazines and a nice airy feel to it that puts you right at home. The room itself was also very calming. The bed/table was extremely comfortable and there was a nice fluffy duvet that kept me nice and warm while some light background music played. I was unsure what to expect during my first facial, but Cynthia helped guide me through the process: First, she prepped my skin, looked at my skin under her microscope and then decided that I could use a light peel and extractions. The peel was spicy, but Cynthia was very good about checking in to see what my irritation level was and also helped fan my face to minimize the spiciness of the peel. After wiping off the peel and soothing my face with a gel of some sort and also with a warm towel, she prepped my face for the extractions with a humidifier. While my face was warming up, she gave me a shoulder massage AND a foot massage which relaxed me even more. The extractions were next and I was expecting the worse (after all, how comfortable can it be to be squeezing blackheads out of tiny pores on your face!) but Cynthia made the process as quick and painless as possible. Final bit of cleaning, moisturizer and sunscreen and I was good to go. I had a really good experience with Cynthia, loved her demeanor, appreciated her knowledge and experience and how that translated into the feeling that she really cared for my skin. 3 days later, my skin still feels very smooth and clean! I had my eyelash extensions put on by someone who obviously wasn't the expert she claimed to be. My eyelashes were falling off the day after I got them. They were so stiff they felt like quills and were painful when they bent because there was so much glue on them. Thank God for Deana, I called her panicked and we arranged to meet.
