I went to Raissa at Work Face & Body for 2 chemical peels and have been very happy with the results. 1st peel: Since I'm Asian (so more prone to hyperpigmentation from procedures) she started me on a lighter peel. The visual results were small but I didn't experience major break outs in the 4 months until my next peel (aka a miracle). She described light peels as "chipping away" at the problems (for me, milder acne scars and hyperpigmentation and larger pores). 2nd peel: We went for a medium peel and I certainly peeled! Which was great. The results were more obvious (but still subtle), with less texture and smaller pore in a patch of skin with acne scars. I can see that some of my dark spots faded a few shades. Raissa is a lovely, warm person and very competent at her work. I've been seeing Raissa for 3 years now, so this review is way overdue. I have acne prone skin that is on the sensitive side. I have never had good skin but it was especially awful after I had Covid. I reached out after having a mediocre bleh experience with a new skincare line that left me with a bunch of clogged pores right before an important professional conference. Raissa fit me fairly quickly for a facial and got rid of nearly all the clogged pores with gentle extractions. While I was a bit red (understandably) after the facial, none of the extractions flared back up and within a week I looked as a good as new - ok, even better. My first time going to Raissa and it was worth the wait! (I saw all her fantastic reviews last year while I was visiting home for the holidays but unfortanatly wasn't able to fit in an appointment on my very short visit). My biggest insecurity regarding my skin is my enlarged pores (oily-skinned girl here). Raissa KNOWS her stuff. I signed up for a Diamond Dermafile to smooth out the layers on my skin. I've never done a diamond dermafie. So she started betaking my make up off me. She was gentle bc I have issues with people pulling on my skin. So she was gentle. Then she started doing the extractions of the white and blackheads and they hurt like a mofo but you gotta take off the oil cloggers. It was great! Then she did the diamond dermafile and put warm cloths on me. Then she put lotion on my face. My skin felt so smooth... Inflamed from the extractions but still... Smooth. The great thing about Raissa is she'll give her new patients a free follow up to understand your skin. My skin actually reacted badly to the diamond dermafile and created dry patches on my chin and red dots from the extractions. So I went to see Raissa and she did a soothing mask to calm my skin and moisturize it. My skin felt SO much better. It's a lot smoother than before and the dry patches are gone. I wound up getting the dreaded Adult Acne fairy visiting me lately, which blows as I'm in my 30s now. Raissa is the most amazing aestetician. She has a zillion good Yelp reviews for a reason. First off, even though appointments are hard to get real quick and you pay a little more for the service, it's completely worth it. She is not trying to make a quick buck. She totally relies on repeat clients and frankly is a busy girl. I love that she too had poor skin once and totally gets it that I feel like poo b/c of my acne sometimes. She completely empathizes with you. Also, she doesn't push products on you at ALL. If you get the All Business facial with peel it does tend to get sorta scary (scabs at the epicenters of breakouts) but you'll turn out lovely if you just wait. Huge! Monstrous! Is that a second nose? Seriously! those were the words to describe this huge cystic zit that had been growing on my nose these past two weeks. I had even tried to get it injected but sadly the dermatologist office I had gone to had a fairly new PA and I'm thinking she didn't inject enough meds or didn't administer it deep enough. In any case my zit got bigger and bigger and all my picking, squeezing, and poking at it was only making it worse. I finally went on yelp and Raissa had the most stellar shining reviews. I only hoped she would be able to help me. I texted her and she got back to me right away. Her schedule of course was booked. I then explained how this zit had been on my face bugging me and despite how busy she obviously was she agreed to squeeze me in between clients that same day! Sweet! I arrived at the designated place which is a small Victorian house next to the healthcare facility. It looks like a regular residential home but once you walk in you are transported to a haven of soothing smells and calming peace. I waited a little bit before being seen by Raissa as she was with another client but I didn't mind. If she could heal my nose I'd wait overnight! Lol Anyhow when she did see me her warm friendly demeanor made me feel like she was an old friend. Once I got settled in she proceeded to ask me about my skin care routine, and gave me some good education of why the cyst wasn't healing even after the injection. Afterwards she talked to me as she applied a peel solution to remove the hardened tissue on the cyst from my failed extraction attempts and poked it to get rid of the nasty plug which had kept it from healing properly. All in all Raissa had spent a good 20-25 minutes with me. It was such a great experience that I immediately booked her next available facial appointment. Not once did she ever push products or other services my way. Her passion and drive is amazing bc you can tell she really does care about her clients. I randomly found her on Yelp and noticed that she works out of Cote d'Azur which is a spa located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Pasadena (the convenient parking is definitely a plus). I only see Raissa once every 2 to 3 months because I generally don't have any problems with my skin unless I'm extremely stressed out. My skin always looks great a few days after my facial, the extractions heal and my face looks renewed and fresh. I usually get the "All Business" which is a basic facial with thorough extractions. I've also tried her peels and liked the result. My skin is never irritated from the products that she uses but I would see a difference in texture and clarity. I've been going to see Raissa since March 2012, at 2 month intervals. I started a new job and thought it would be nice to start taking care of my skin. I'm in my mid 20s. I am thoroughly content and thankful for Raissa. Granted, I haven't been to other aesthetician before, but why should I go somewhere else when my first and current aesthetician is 1) very knowledgeable and experienced, 2) honest and blunt (in a good way) about what I need for my face and health, 3) a wonderful person herself, 4) not trying to be a salesperson and sell me unnecessary items/packages, 5) is personally vested in building a great business as well as investing in her clients (I feel like I can actually talk to her as a person and not just the person providing a paid service)? That sums up how I feel about her personally and professional. As for results: after using her recommended product (and mind you she didn't push me to purchase buy supplements or watever, she just asked me wat my daily regimen was and recommended adding a exfoliating toner) and getting treatment every 2 months (she said I really didn't need more than that), I've had very little to no break outs! And when I do get a break out, they are gone a lot more quickly now. My skin wasn't too bad to start out with, but I think it's even better now!
