The equipment here and the knowledge of the equipment is amazing. All beds are top of the line and extremely effective. My favorite is the hybrid bed since you can set it for different skin tones and it also contains red light therapy. It also has air conditioning making it very comfortable. Have to mention the new medical grade LED red light therapy bed. This particular bed is life-changing. It helps immensely with chronic pain conditions, muscle recovery, wrinkle reduction, complexion enhancement, and promotes a sense of well-being, mood elevator, something you can't put a price on. I am beyond beyond disappointed with Jack and his staff at this Tanning salon I've been going there for so long even though the tanning beds are sometimes dirty. The floors are dirty , overall not pleasant but I still went because I like how hot the beds are. I recently bought a month unlimited and wasn't able to go after six times because my skin is getting too dehydrated so I called Jack and asked him if he can transfer it to my daughter because I no longer am able to go And my daughter will just use my remaining month, He said no! That he will lose money that I already use six sessions and that she has to buy her own. Mind you I only went six times within the month and I have almost 2 1/2 weeks to go but he still wouldn't allow my daughter to take over what's left of the month. He's a con artist and he's a liar. One of the best tanning salons you can go to! I have been going here off and on for well over 15 years. Always friendly help and love the beds. And always clean. My old favorite was the ultra bronze but that was replaced by the sun-board which is still one of my favorites! They did get some gigantic new state of the art bed that you must try. Wow! I've gone here several times and bought packages but last summer the owner tried to act like I didn't have any sessions left when I knew I had one because he gave me a bonus session when I bought a package. So he gave me the session. I came in a few days ago and paid for one session the girl at the front was great and I left. When I went in today, the owner again tried to scam me and said "oh you have a balance" to which I said what are you talking about I just tanned the other day and I always pay before I am allowed to tan. He came up with a story that someone before me went to the bathroom last time when I tanned in August of 2024 (almost a year ago) and the gave me the credit from that person so I owe money. I literally laughed and said what is my balance I'll pay and I won't be back. He said you don't have to pay you can just leave. Beware of this guy he will have you double paying and selling you packages and not giving you full credits. The girls that work the front are great but he is always trying to scam people out of their sessions or to pay for another session in addition. Don't trust him! read more

This is an excellent tanning salon! It may not look like much from the outside, but the inside is very clean and I have never had any kind of issues. Being in a "college area" some may think that it would not be as nice, and also given the fact that the pricing is so reasonable. Parking is easy and available. I am a veteran too many tanning salons in the area and also just around Los Angeles. This really is one of the best. It's simple, and there is rarely a wait, unless, on occasion for one of the high powered beds. The towels are always very clean, the trash cans are never full, and the floor is well swept. I've been to several tanning places, super cheap and expensive, and by far this is my favorite. Their prices vary at times so it's hard for me to give an exact amount since I always buy a package of 6, which literally cuts the price in half. My only criticism is that I've been coming to this place for over 3 years and I still have no idea who any of the girls are. There is always a new girl at the front desk so there is definitely a disconnect. My relationship with the girls is what they put on my profile in the computer. Nevertheless, the place is super clean. For the service and price they provide, I'm surprised that they're not busy. But I'm not complaining here because I can do walkins anytime and get to pick the machine I want, except for the Matrix, which I've never had to make an appointment for in the past until now. It was 35$, so grossly overpriced. I was in the area and needed to tan ASAP so I said whatever i'll do it. WELL if I knew how dirty this place was, I would have never stepped foot in there. First it's advertised as 29.95 but that's only if you sing up for 3 months so it was 60$ then my membership was up today and I called yesterday to make sure I could still come in because it was still apart of my month and she said it was fine. Today I showed up and the lovely girl at the desk called her boss I'm assuming and told me I would have to renew my membership. I have been going to Sun Works for quite some time and have always gotten the MOST gorgeous color. They make sure to change out the bulbs often and they are so cautious with how much time they allow when the bulbs are new which is awesome so you don't fry yourself! I have been coming to Sunworks tanning since I was 14 years old (I am now 19). I absolutely love it, reasonable pricing and the matrix does wonders for a tan. I would definitely recommend getting the monthly membership as it can be costly to do tanning without a package (as it is anywhere you go). One reason that makes this place stand out besides the amazing tan the matrix bed gives is Gabby at the front desk. Ideal employee who is friendly, professional, knowledgeable about the services offered, and overall has made me renew my 6 month membership with Sunworks. The facility is clean and nice looking inside. Everywhere I go I get compliments that I am "glowing". Additionally, if you're going to get a spray tan definitely do the pura sunless. When I called I was told that was no longer a special. Yet, the website also states, "will match any competitors' price. I went here last year as they were clean, affordable, and all around nice. I was unable to continue my contract with them due to child care issues. While I thought I had canceled the contract correctly, I found out months later I was still charged and while I was not able to get the money returned for reasons out of their control, they were really wonderful about giving me store credit. So does this place objectively deserve one star? No. But it certainly doesn't objectively deserve all of the five star reviews it is getting, so if they're gonna game the system, then some vigilante yelp justice is in order. Dear Owner of Sun Works, Whatever possessed you to have a sign at the front desk that blatantly offers free services for five star reviews? Did you think your business isn't great enough to warrant great reviews without you having to pay for them? That alone speaks volumes. Even so, quid pro quo doesn't just damage your reputation; it damages the reputation of Yelp and the people who trust in Yelp to provide honest, unbiased reviews. Your unethical behavior in this area is liable to make people think you are unethical in other ways. And is that how you want to run your business? Especially a business in an industry that raises health concerns? Are you cleaning and maintaining your beds properly? Why do I ask? Because if you're trying to game the system in one area, it casts a cloud on your entire business. I don't get all high and mighty about being a Yelp Elite. But it is a privilege that Yelp bestows on reviewers who maintain a high level of integrity. Yelpers (hopefully) trust our reviews. And as of today, you have two reviews from Yelp Elites, both giving you a single star. Yikes. And the way you replied to the other one-star review (Tara C.) was poorly handled. Yes you did offer to address her complaint, but you then ended the encounter with words "also I wasn't able to find you in my system." My hunch is that you said this in order to suggest that she never really came to your salon. Maybe she wasn't in your system, that's true, but that's probably your mistake given that your employee couldn't find me in your system FORTY MINUTES after you took down my information on the phone. Even if you don't care about ethics, surely you care about your bottom line. Providing free services for good yelp reviews is not just an ethical problem: it's a tactical one. These five star reviews raises expectations, and then when someone comes and receives less than five star service, they are even more disappointed than they otherwise would be. And trust me when I tell you that disappointed customers will definitely hurt your bottom line. What sort of disappointment did I encounter? Where to begin? I came here three times, and two of three times your employees forgot to write down my appointment. So I had to wait. Not a big deal, except why go through the charade of having appointments at all if they're not going to be recorded? The first time I came here, your employee bad-mouthed the tanning salon across the street. That's just tacky. And then she couldn't explain why you charged a tax for your services. I happen to know that it's because of a provision of Obamacare, but only because I looked it up since it's so unusual to charge a sales tax for services. But your employees should know this, because it's unusual, and they should be able to explain it to your customers who ask. The second time I came here, your employee asked me about my "nationality." Well, I happen to be American, but even if I weren't, I hardly see what my nationality has to do with anything. Maybe she was just trying to make pleasant conversation. Except she wasn't pleasant. I've met sea urchins with more congenial personality. I'm a middle aged man (alas!) and I don't take kindly to being treated like a jr. high school-er by some 20 year old Heather/Mean Girl/human velociraptor who has no business being in customer service. She then proceeded to lecture me about why I needed a $100 indoor tanning product, yammering on about melanin and epidermis, like she was some sort of dermatologist or something. I'm pretty sure she hasn't conducted a double-blind scientific study or even knows how to read a medical research abstract, so she should probably ease back on the scientific claims. In all fairness, the third employee I encountered was an absolute joy. She was amazing. Personable, knowledgeable, cheerful, funny and all around fantastic. Look, I get it: it's tough to find good help when you're paying minimum wage (plus commission, I imagine, given the Gestapo tactics they were employing to try to get me to buy retail). But if you treat your employees with the same lack of integrity as you treat your yelp reviews, then it's no wonder that you're reaping what you sow. You know, I feel sorry for you. I really do. Because you probably don't know the first thing about running a business, and now you're losing money and you're so desperate that you have to pay people to say they like your business. Sun Works is a delightful salon well worth 5 stars. ...that's all. No but seriously. The prices are unbeatable. Tanning is not cheap, which is why attending a great salon like this helps you get your money's worth. I like soft, natural looking tans so I purchase a stand up and I maintain it with the level 1 uv beds. I would recommend making sure to get it like this because there are level 1 bundles to buy, which is more affordable than buying it individually. I've actually never had an issue with service either. The ladies are sweet and usually very helpful. This salon is one of my favorites because they have 3 locations. It's convenient and we'll priced. Been going to Sun Works for a few years now, always been a pleasant experience. I use the stand up bed, and I get positive results every time. The customer service is very friendly and the atmosphere is soothing. I have met and spoke to Jack, the owner, and he seems to be a very friendly and knowledgable individual. He went into detail relating to the tans and their differences and gave me the best possible package when I first went. Since then, I have become well versed in how to tan properly without burning, since I have a fair complexion. Also, the employees are very kind, very nice and sweet. The parking is good and the layout is professional and clean. Not sure how anyone can speak badly of their service, as I personally have never had issues and the multiple times I have gone, I haven't seen anyone else treated in any way shape or form that wasn't fair or super friendly. Talk about a great tan! This has yet to be the best tan I've ever had in such a short period of time! Susie, at the front desk was knowledgeable and sweet. She showed me all the beds and went over the differences between each of them. I told her I was going to be in a wedding the next day and that I wanted a tan, but DIDNT want to get burned. She recommended the Sun Gate - High Pressure Bed, known as the "GIANT". I guess this bed is great for quick tans because it doesnt have any UVB rays and doesn't burn. The bed also has seperate lighting for the face, so need to cover your face! Aside from that, it's location/parking is so convenient and all the rooms are very clean! Cost was $22 for 10 minutes! this is the best place to get a tan in the SGV. I recommend it to people who tan frequently but even more so to people who might just need a bit of color before an event; because the quality you can get from just one session is beyond any other places! I recommend the Matrix or the UltraBronze, for around $30 you get enough color for a whole week. I also like the UltraBronze because you lay on a clean white sheet (the bulbs are only above) and you have to turn over. color is massive from this bed! The Giant is also very good for less money, and I use this one the most. Bathroom is very clean and so are the beds. their hours are also fantastic - they open really early and close pretty late.
