this is the best place to get a tan in the SGV. I recommend it to people who tan frequently but even more so to people who might just need a bit of color before an event; because the quality you can get from just one session is beyond any other places! I recommend the Matrix or the UltraBronze, for around $30 you get enough color for a whole week. I also like the UltraBronze because you lay on a clean white sheet (the bulbs are only above) and you have to turn over. color is massive from this bed! The Giant is also very good for less money, and I use this one the most. Bathroom is very clean and so are the beds. their hours are also fantastic - they open really early and close pretty late. Come at 7:30 am and your the first one in a nice cool bed! love it!! read more

I am soooo happy I found this place and it's so close to my house. Gabby is literally the sweetest ever and she remembered mine and my boyfriends names after just meeting us one time which makes the experience feel more personal. The prices were in the exact range I was expecting to pay and I was even able to get my boyfriend a membership as well. The beds are great and I love that they offer a free upgrade once a month to the stand up or spray tan! If you're like me and can't afford $50+ a month I do the basic beds and I have gotten plenty tan for $25 a month! Sunworks Tanning is one of the best tanning salons in the area! The staff is extremely friendly, they are very helpful when it comes to choosing beds and lotions. The tanning beds in this salon are always clean and updated. The staff is always cleaning the salon and taking their time to make sure everything is sanitized and ready. I have been coming here for a while now and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I use the high pressure Ultra bed and have never had a problem with the results. It doesn't burn at all and you can see results very fast unlike other salons. Sunworks has great packages and are always improving their prices and their packages. If youre looking for an afforable and clean tanning salon this is it. I love to use the "GIANT" bed because it always gives me an amazing bronzed look especially when i use my lotion bottle. The girl was so nice she discounted the bottle for me and even gave me a free session since I bought a pack of 5. The girl at the front desk knew nothing about spray tans and the spray tan machine was broken - so the entire left side of my body is a different color from the right. Sun Works has to be my favorite place to go on my free time. Not only do I obtain the best tan in all of Padadena, the entire staff there are awesome. Im actually friends with a few of them and they make me feel right at home. There are about 12 tanning beds and they range from lay down to stand ups, even a spray tan. The owner just introduced a new sweat machine. You sit in it for 30 minutes and sweat out all of your bodys bad toxins. I bet you loose a little weight too. Just saying.. Thete hours ate awesome, so flexible. The even open at 7:30 during the week for us hard workers. Thete is nothing I could possibly say bad about Sun Works. It's the place to tan. Sunworks is the bomb.com for tanning salons. Jack and his staff are friendly and professional, the prices are fair and the beds are always up to date with new bulbs when needed. I have been to several tanning salons throughout my life and this one is top of my list for sure. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!  Both big beds matrix and sunboard make me 3 shades darker in one tan if you are looking to tan fast for a vacation definitely check that bed out. I have recommended several friends there and all of them still go for tanning and red light therapy I was going on vacation and wanted to tighten up and tone up a bit so I did a week of red light therapy with combo of matrix bed it worked. These people have no clue about what they are doing. TANS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO LOOK GREEN! Sad fact: I am very fair. But I like to look all nice and tanned sometimes so I've been to many tanning salons, only for Mystic Tans. This is important to note, because it means that I know how the process works, what to do, and what not to do. I recently tried out Sun Works and bought two Mystic Tans when they price-matched a deal from another Pasadena salon. First tan: I always choose Level 2, No Bronzer. About 7 hours after I did the tan, I still had almost no color, so I raced back to Sun Works (since I had an event that very night) and showed the girl at the front. She agreed the color was really lacking, so she let me jump in for a quick redo with the bronzer turned on. She apologized and suggested the problem may have been caused by a new bottle of the bronzer-free solution that wasn't mixed properly (?). Okay, fine. Note to self: go with the bronzer formula next time. Second tan: I went in the morning when I had a special occasion that night (but allowed myself enough time to fix any possible f*ckups). This time, Level 2 WITH Bronzer, just to be on the safe side. I came out of the booth and realized I was GREEN. Started the toweling off process-- yup, the towel was GREEN. The worst of it seemed to towel off, but there was still a strange green cast to my skin. I immediately asked the front desk girl about it. She explained that it was normal; their special bronzer formula looks green to counter/prevent orange tones. UH-HUH... She saw my skepticism and said I could do it again without bronzer. What, are you kidding?!? With irritation and resignation, I left and decided to hope for the best. NOPE. By the time I was dressing for the event, I still had a greenish tone to my tan. The situation was salvaged only with my own self-tanner lotion, bronzer, and big fluffy brush. I WAS PISSED. Sun Works, you almost ruined my look on a big night. I want my money back, because both tans here SUCKED. read more

Holly crap! This place is ridiculously expensive! I'm new in the area so I decided to browse around and I stopped here. I walked in and wasn't even greeted by the girl behind the desk, she was too busy texting and didn't even realize I was there till 5 minutes later. She was trying really hard to sell me a bottle of lotion but I wasn't interested because I usually tan better without a bronzing lotion. I purchased one session in the low pressure bed for almost $20. She tried to put me in for 20 minutes and I refused because I knew I'd burn. I am ashamed of myself for not having written this review sooner, so here it is: (Oh, and for the record I am no tanning salon virgin, I've tried em all and seen em all, so if ever there is a time you contemplate taking my advice, now'd be it. ) I can say, without hesitation, that Sun Works is by far the best tanning salon I've been to. For starters, there is ample free parking in the lot behind the salon and also free street parking in the front. Im already irritated as is that i wasn't blessed with some natural glow and therefore feel compelled to take my ass to a tanning salon, so not having to drive around in circles looking for a parking space is a definite plus in my world. The salon itself is gorgeous, its clean, its inviting, and the very best thing of all is that the AC temperature in this place is always set to perfection. Let me explain...tanning makes your body temperature raise, hell, you may even break a little sweat, so if you have to tan at some salon thats hot and stuffy and or their AC "doesn't work", the experience will undoubtedly be less than pleasant, mark my word on that one. Everyone that works there is absolutely wonderful. The girls at the front helped me decide what bed would be best with my given schedule and budget. Never once did i feel "forced" into buying something and they were so patient with me in answering my many questions. I have been using their matrix and giant beds, both of which have given me amazing color!! It is very obvious the owner takes pride in his company because the bulbs are always new and working, plus, and this a huge plus, the beds are always CLEAN!! I have read several other reviews that make note of their "expensive" prices, yet please keep in mind, paying a few more dollars to tan your semi naked ass in a SANITARY environment like Sun Works, is worth every penny! ( Side note:their prices aren't that much more than any other salon in the area, so do your research before you bitch people.) At the end of the day though, you will always get what you pay for, so go, go be cheap and lay your ass on some dirty old tanning bed and see how great you feel for saving a few bucks after that tanning session is over. ha! The staff is extremely friendly, they are really helpful especially when you aren't sure what tanning bed to choose. The tanning beds are kept and updated very well. It's extremely clean and sanitized which is always important since there are all kinds of greasy sweaty people sliding all over the machines and leaving who knows what behind. I use the matrix bed and have never had a problem with the results. It doesn't burn you at all and you finish with a nice tan color, perfect if you need a quick tan because you see results in one session. Omg! I absolutely LOVE this place. Its so sparkling clean! Ive read that people say its really pricey but mind you I pay good money for my maintenance. And they have amazing deals. I started coming here a year or so ago and I moved away for like 6 months and when I came back my sessions were still there which is surprising because other salons expire and theirs never do! I loved this place then and live it more now I was adviced me that the place is under new ownership and the place seems better then ever! These beds are so awesome. What a great experience I have had being a client of Sun Works Tanning. First the staff is knowledgable and customer focused. Secondly the equipment is state of the art and I am able to fully utilize the benefits of each of the different treatments because of the wonderful explanations of each of these by the staff. I was always a tan and go client until I came to understand the way to manage the equipment to the betterment of both my appearance as well as my health.
