I saw a deal for five 50-minute infrared body contouring wraps from Groupon. I had never tried anything like this so naturally I was interested and bought the Groupon after checking out Kool Rays on yelp. Their review were really good so the purchase was easy. My experience at Kool Rays has been really good so far. The girls have all been sweet and informative for the most part and the place is really clean. Initially I thought body wrap was having each of your limps wrapped, kind of like a mummy, but it's basically a heated blanket they wrap you in...more like a burrito lol. They also have a TV in the room with Netflix to make the 50 minutes pass quickly. Would I get additional body wraps? Probably not. It's basically the same as going in to a sauna, which my gym offers. However, I am thinking of getting tanning sessions since summer is around the corner and I'm PALE! And when I say pale, I mean glow in the dark pale lol. They have different levels and price options. Monthly memberships with a minimum of 3 months, and regular unlimited as well as per session options. I'll write another review at a later time to go over my tanning experience. This is by far my favorite tanning salon in all of LA. They are always very friendly and the location itself is always very well maintained. I've tried many other tanning salons and they are never up to par with Kool Rays. The beds available here are top notch and pricing is very reasonable. I usually use the Ergoline beds and I love it. I've also been airbrushed tanned many times and I've had really good experiences with all of the girls who have sprayed me. Lately, I've been coming often for the body wraps. I think the body wraps claims to help with a lot of different things but I use it solely for relaxing my musles if I'm sore from my work out or my long distance running. It feels like being in a sauna, only I don't have to deal with not being able to breathe. I get a spray tan monthly, unfortunately both places that I normally go to where unavailable for this specific day! I found this place on yelp and gave it a shot! I really dislike giving bad reviews . However, to save anyone from embarrassment , for a special event! I do not recommend this place for a spray tan! I looked like a pumpkin all weekend and now dealing with the major blotchy spots all over my body! I have never experienced this before! My toes, feet, heels, chest, ugh! I look horrible and have been trying to scrub it off and nothing has worked! For one the color is terrible, secondly even though I applied lotion on my hands, feet, elbows, I still got this(see picture) and why didn't they give me pads for my feet to not turn orange? I have been to this place for a 3 wrap package. It was okay but definitely not the best. The ladies who work there are nice but they definitely do not go out of there way and can seem a little clueless. I had to cancel an appointment I couldn't make and twice Nina kept telling me to call back "she was really busy" - I'm not sure if that was because she was annoyed by my cancellation but if they are busy they should just call you back like they would at any other salon instead of continuing to tell you to call back. The walls in the rooms don't go all the way up, so you can hear the TV in other rooms when you are getting your wrap and that can be distracting. Some locations have a more relaxing vibe but this place looks mostly like a tanning salon (which it is). So it's got the bare basics and worth trying out. Not the best wrap spot I have ever been to and don't expect the best customer service. read more

I was nervous to update while I still had my membership but now that I'm officially done I can update. 1-the girl who works all the time is possibly very friendly just not to me and her facial expressions make you feel like you're constantly annoying her. 2-got talked in to the gold level because I had been tanning for months. I got progressively whiter until I went to my old salon in OC. They reminded me that UV-B is the part of the tanning beds that tan you. Apparently the gold level beds have little or none of this because "it's bad for you" disclaimer: TANNING BEDS ARE BAD FOR YOU. We sign consent for the risks. But why pay for a bed of light bulbs that doesn't get you any darker. I started going in the silver beds and quickly got my color back but I had already wasted 3 weeks in beds of light bulbs. Still gave two stars because the beds seem fancy and they were always clean and I never had to wait. I feel ripped off and the attitude received means I won't be back. I've come here for years for the Infrared detox wraps (it's a great way to sweat out the toxins!) Happy to see they are following all of the health guidelines due to COVID-19. Been a customer of Kool Rays for a couple of years now, and although I don't tan as often (maybe a few times around summertime) I love coming here whenever I want to get a little color. The place is always clean, employees are always helpful and nice and they have variety of tanning beds to choose from at fair prices. :) After 2 years of no tanning, I went in recently and purchased a package for 5 tans, in the Saturn stand up bed and I absolutely loveeeeed it! I love this place for many reasons. They have plenty of beds and a lot to choose from. I never have to wait, it's always just walk in and walk out. And it's always clean! The workers are all sweet, especially Nina (If I recall correctly her name)! One day I walked in super late, I didn't realize last call for tanning had already passed. Nina was kind and generous enough to let me get my tan on anyways although it meant she would have to stay in longer after closing. I really appreciated her gesture for that. I had an amazing experience here! I came here for my first ever airbrush spray tan and from making the appointment to the tan itself I could not have been more pleased. The location is clean and very professional and everyone I talked to was very helpful and accommodating. I was very satisfied with the efforts they made to keep everyone safe from COVID 19. Erin (sorry if I didn't spell it right) was my tan stylist and could not have been more helpful and answered my 1 million questions and also gave me great recommendations for aftercare and tan extender. I burn really quickly so I decided to get tanner so I won't burn when I go under the sun. I decided to sign up for a month of unlimited tans on their lowest bed. Which was a great deal because I also got a discount for signing up during my birthday month! After the first 2/3 tanning sessions I already noticed that I am getting darker. These beds work great! I highly recommend going to this location! The lobby area, the rooms, and bathrooms are all very clean. The service I received was amazing too. Ok, I'm going to have to admit something. Underneath all the beard and chest hair, I'm white. Like WHITE white. I realize there are variations of white -- silky white, milky white, opaque (?) white ... basically, lots of different shades of white. I, on the other hand, am translucent white. So, when faced with the imminent departure to Havasu, I decided I'd like to try and look a little different this time. I'd like? A tan. So I consulted with one of my sisters for a place she'd recommend I go. She referred me to Kool Rays in Glendale; which was perfect, because I happened to work a block away. My sister recommended the airbrushing as the quick fix solution. Based on all the reviews, I'm sure they do a good job most of the time. But since these reviews are meant to be subjective, and my personal experience was nothing more than a 1-star experience overall, I can't help but to give it nothing but that. I usually don't go the extra length to voice my dissatisfaction with anyone's service because, quite frankly, I'm never really experiencing it And on the rare occasion it does happen, I can usually brush it off. But it seemed pointless to pay the amount that I did for something that just completely didn't work. Not even for a day. So I gave them a call, informed the lady who answered the phone what had happened, and she took my name and number down. She said she'd have the manager give me a call -- a call that never came. It wasn't worth it any longer to follow up with it; I really just wanted to move on and write this review. Dear Sun, I frankly don't have time to wait around for you to tan me with all of your glorious rays. I have a career, family, friends and a very busy schedule to manage. I don't have the time, to the beach in this horrible LA traffic. WTF is up with that? Why is it so traffiky on the weekends? Ugh! I don't have the 5 hours to sit around waiting to get dark. Love, Boozie H. ***** Out of all the tanning salons that I have been to in Glendale, I really like this one! And, I've been to about 3 of them. Cool Rays is clean and the staff is very friendly. I have been coming here for a few years, tee hee. They have all kinds of different beds and a spray tanning booth. Bed types: Ultrabronz, Ergoline (my fav), Stand ups, and Sun Dash. I always found the workers here are nice and helpful. They have this really cool computer system that lists what you have done there, when and for how long. It will even tell you if you have purchased a lotion! Be sure to ask the people there any questions you have. They will even recommend how long you should tan for, so that you don't burn! THAT'S A BIG +1 STAR! I usually buy points (it's cheaper that way). You can buy like 10, 20, 50 points. Each bed or booth has a different cost (in points). I believe the ergoline is 4 points. So if I buy 20 points I can get on the Ergoline 5 times. Remember that really high tech computer system? The system finger print scan you to make sure no one is using your points. +1 star for that too. If you are into accelerating lotions, buy them somewhere else. They are pretty expensive at Cool Rays. Yup, their beds are clean too. I always see someone wiping them down after each use! +1 star. Park on the street (meters). They have a back lot you can park at but it is TINY! I am so happy to have found this place. I bought the Groupon deal for the slimming wraps and I was a little nervous since I had never done it before. But the young lady I had spoke to on the phone was so pleasant and explained everything to me and told me about her experience with it. When I arrived there the lady at the front was very sweet, I had forgotten socks and they had some available for purchase which I bought, but if I didn't want to spend money the young lady offered to wrap my feet with towels which I thought was very nice. The wrap was fine, it wasn't super uncomfortable, it just gets hot. I do recommend thick pants and maybe a towel under your butt and double socks. Make sure when you remove your jewelry you put it in your purse! I left my gold earrings and ring there which I didn't realize until hours later. It turned out the girl that took care of me, found them and put them in an envelope with my name on it. I was so happy for the honesty. Thank you! read more

I love this place, I feel comfortable here and trust the employees with their suggestions most of the time. Every other tanning salon I've gone to has the most stuck up bronzed attitudey girls behind the counter, which actually turned me off from going to tanning salons for many years after. I really like this place. I am an experienced tanner that hasn't been tanning in awhile since I switched jobs. I am always really iffy about trying a new salon, but I really didn't want to drive out to West Hollywood to the place I was tanning at since I never had any other reason to go out there. And traffic out in the west side is just terrible and I avoid it. So I researched a few places out in Glendale and chose this one to try out first. I am so glad that I did! The staff here is extremely nice and helpful! I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff here, everyone is very friendly, they don't try to oversell or push anything on you, and they honestly make you feel really comfortable and welcome. Another thing I noticed was how clean this place is! Super impressed by that! Everything from the floors, the beds to the towels, nothing is ever dirty or out of place, which is impressive. They don't even have footprints or water on the floor on days that it has been raining, which can be really hard to keep up with if you are busy! The prices here are average, ranging from cheap monthly packages to expensive monthly packages for the higher beds (depends on what you go for, i generally do a medium to high strength bed anyway). So nothing to even complain about here, its definitely better then some places that I have seen on the westside, where you have to give up your first born and take a loan out just to tan for a month. So far I have done beds, spray tan, and body wrap here, and I will continue doing all. Thanks guys for being awesome! read more

This is my go to tanning spot!!! I have been to majority of the tanning spots in the Glendale and Burbank area in the past and this is by far my fav!!! I refuse to go anywhere else and their prices are reasonable. I pay for the monthly membership and in my opinion it's worth it. I love to maintain my color and I always get compliments on my skin tone since I'm not snow white anymore lol the staff is very friendly and always on top of everything. I went here with a Groupon to try the infrared body wrap. The wrap was 'meh' at best- in fact, the only good thing that happened during my experience was the girl at the front desk was really sweet and helpful. The wrap is kind of like rolling yourself in an electric blanket for 50 minutes. You just sweat while you watch some TV. I'm not sure why I paid for that when I could get the same benefits from an electric blanket or a hot bath. Also, there was some construction or something going on, so the sound of hammering and buzz saws never stopped while I was there. Extremely annoying. Did the body wrap work? No. But I only gave it one try. I will say that the place is very clean and that the staff is really passionate and helpful. read more
