Avoid this location. Man was trying to sell me on 10 sessions with 2 free. Told him that was out of my price range. He says buy 5 and I'll give you 1 free. When I tried to redeem my 6th session he says "there's no notes on the system. That promotion was for last year" he was the one who sold me the 5 sessions! I told him he lied to me and he said "I think you're lying to me" READ THE REVIEWS! At some point they have to take accountability. Try elsewhere. read more

I have been using this particular location for more than two years and the service and equipment is excellent. The nicest and the friendliest staff is always at hand. The place is always kept very clean and organized. I have been using the red light therapy and it is very helpful in my recovery from back trauma. I recommend them very much! went out of my way to come get a membership here on a Monday at 9am and they were closed. it says open at 8:30am on Apple Maps and their site (pictures attached), so I left a voicemail for them about my confusion. they proceeded to leave me a voicemail saying "nowhere mentions 8:30am"..... hahaha. not to mention I called about memberships about 2 months ago and they also told me the hours were opening at 8:30am. these hours are pretty hard to deal with if you have a job with normal hours thats outside of Glendale. hate leaving bad reviews anywhere but don't like the disrespect they gave me. also if you scroll through the reviews, the owner (or manager not sure) leaves naaaaaasty comments back to the negative reviews like trying to argue with them?? any person thats ever been through school and taken PR/marketing classes knows that thats such a horrible look for a business lol. read more

I was specifically told that the sessions did not expire, so I was surprised and disappointed when I was later told my package had expired after 4 sessions. Jack equips and maintains his beds with the highest quality UV bulbs available. The workers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the benefits their beds provide, I wouldn't go anywhere else. God bless this place. They don't do a hard upsell, but they do seem like a drug front. You're getting a deal because they don't offer goggles for free (or deodorant or any other amenities). They do have nice beds that have fresh bulbs. Limited selection of tanning lotions, which is fine, I bring my own. The kid working the front looked confused but was nice enough. A friend of mine recommended this place for their red light therapy, so I decided to give it a try. Overall the place was very clean, and the aesthetic had a beach vibe to it which I thought was pretty cool. I was greeted by a friendly smile at the counter and I explained that it was my first time and she was kind enough to give me an explanation about how it works then she guided me to the room and showed me how the red light bed itself works. The actual therapy experience in itself was great. I guess I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. I've been using tanning salons for over 40 years and I am completely impressed with their knowledge of their beds also their bulbs strength and effectiveness. Very reasonably priced as well. The red light therapy bed has been a lifesaver. I had a motorcycle accident some years ago and live in chronic pain amassing some 40 plus surgeries. I have chosen not to take prescribed pain meds any longer, so this is turning out to be a perfect alternative not only for physical well-being but noticeable mental well-being. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune virus about 6 years ago called pleva. I had some extensive tattoo work done with red ink and although the tattoo artist advised against the red ink I was young and didn't listen. After about 8 years with the tattoos my body decided that the red ink was a virus and started attacking my skin usually where the tattoos were. I went to several doctors and finally after multiple biopsies they diagnosed me with pleva. It's not curable but one dermatologist advise I start doing light therapy at their office but it was super expensive and time consuming so I did research and turns out red light therapy at a tanning salon has very similar effects as the dermatologist recommended. Going to Sun Works Tanning has reduced the sores on my body by at least 60%. I'm not a doctor but I used the research and it has worked for me and my situation. Outside of the benefits for me and my autoimmune virus the staff there is super sweet and makes the whole experience amazing. Pleva is not curable but it can be controlled. read more

Posted closing time is 9pm. On the website and on Google maps. Website says they 'take their last tan 30 minutes before closing time' I drive all the way down there and arrived at exactly 8:30pm. I don't mean iparked at 8:30, I mean I'm standing in the lobby talking to the receptionist at 8:30 who tells me she can't take anymore customers because she already closed out her receipts, confused I ask "so what time do you take your last tan?" And her response is "we lock the doors at 8:25." What a waste of time and money to drive 20 minutes to get there, and 20 minutes home for no reason. I don't think I'll be coming back. I was a new customer but it really puts a bad taste in my mouth when things don't run as posted. So bummed I wasted my time. The two stars are for the other girl who rang me up and explained everything the first time I went in, she was great. EDIT: Just responding to the response. What do you mean? You take your last customer 30 minutes before closing, and that's literally when I walked in. I had my phone in my hand so I know exactly what time it was. Been to many tanning salons in southern California. So far, Sunworks has everyone beat. I love all the additional therapies that they offer. I have only tried UV tanning, and their heated spray booth. All are exceptional. I usually go for the top end bed wherever I go and the one they have is "The Best." They hardly ever have a wait and no appointments necessary. read more

In response to managers message back to me: *edited review* Summery : I followed instructions, machine malfunctioned and double sprayed me, I politely asked receptionist what to do, was polite, smiley, said don't worry as the girl seemed apologetic but I thought a refund was fair, spoke to manager to get his advice on how to make this come out the best way possible then asked quietly for refund, manager was rude, said it was my fault, refused a refund, was condescending from the start... is now still blaming me and making excuses. I'm orange and $35 dollars down AND being blamed and being called strange now on the internet. In response to managers reply - just so the public are aware. Again you are placing blame and highlighting the issue at hand. And called me strange! I don't kick up a fuss about anything, seeing this your reviews, you are clearly is a certain way with customers as you have had several complaints of a similar variety. I don't care about getting the money back, I care about the attitude. Go ahead and ask your receptionist about how I was, I was calm, smiley and polite. I said, 'do you think it would be ok to get a refund' - so please don't invent a separate storyline in your head to display to your yelp viewers. I am simply trying to warn people about the business etiquette you run. I took four of your vitamin drinks because that's the least I deserve for paying to be orange, implying I was lying and not accepting any responsibility. Again, ask your receptionist - I called to pay for those drinks after my fit of rage even though I feel I deserve way more than an exchange of vitamin drinks, I shouldn't have done that - just because you are a rubbish human, doesn't mean I have to be one in return which is why I called to apologize for that particular behavior and pay. That's the only act of anger I displayed during the entire process. It was a kind of 'fuck you' to be honest, which I didn't even commit to. Please stop coming up with excuses for your mistakes. It's irritating and and I'm not going to be criticized for getting an absolutely awful service from all angles. I'm sure you're fine to some of your other customers but you weren't to me. You can make me out to be an enraged, strange person that wasn't listening to what you were saying but I Listened, stayed calm and was perfectly reasonable up until you implied I was lying and blamed me. End summery : I paid for a tan - Machine didn't work as promised and resulted in me being a very bright colour- manager was overall rude and blamed me for some reason, implied I was lying continued to be rude just because I asked for a refund and is now taking time out of my day to respond to his excuses publicly. I have spent today (I'm performing - on stage) covered up and embarrassed. You have your $35 and nothing lost AND just seen your review which is continuing to blame me. It's very annoying. Received message from manager asking me to come in and prove my tan is terrible, I have informed him I am away in Colorado performing (the event I wanted to look nice for) so I'm sure he will respond with something accusatory. Even if I wasn't bright orange - which - I definitely am. The refund should have happened after your machine worked incorrectly and sprayed me double the concentrate. I didn't want to be sprayed twice, if I had been the cause of this, I wouldn't have even kicked up a fuss. Anyway, this is a tiring and pointless argument as I don't even care about the money. Just recommend you don't go here in case something goes wrong. I can recommend many more salons that have fantastic customer service and have left me more than satisfied. I didn't actually use a bed. I was on a hunt to find a good tanning salon in the area. This place is completely underwhelming. The girl was on the phone when I walked in. I waited while she talked casually. Once I was able to ask questions she didn't have answers to any of them. One answer she told me is "I'm not sure my manager just told me to say that". I asked if they have lotion that has DHA. I don't expect everyone to know that's what is in spray tan but I do expect someone who works at a tanning salon and sells lotion. You know I've been a member here for years now. I am truly satisfied with the 3 locations this business owner operates. The staff is always ready to great me with a huge smile. The salons are clean and tighty and the beds are well maintained. If you have the top level membership you can tan in all the different beds they have so you don't plateau. And let me say the bulbs are strong! They also carry a great variety of lotions from Designer Skin. If you need a tan or if you just want to get some natural vitamin d this is the place to be. I prefer the Glendale location, yet you can use all three with your account. Unfortunately the tanning booth was really uneven, one of my arms has no color at all, and the areas that do have tan the color is not very suitable for fair skin which means I'll be fixing it myself tonight. I did have a long chat with the front counter girl and we discussed using the lighter tone etc but it just didn't work out which was disappointing.
