Everyone needs some 'self care', whatever forms that come in: it could be shopping, being outside in nature, meditation, getting your nails done... you get the idea. One of my top self care choices is indoor tanning. This isn't just for vanity purposes but because it is my time to try to lie down, relax and de-stress (I have A LOT of stress and anxiety). For over a decade I was a client at Sun Tans to Go in Sherman Oaks, 3x a week, every week. Unfortunately for me, the owner retired and sold the shop to a corporate tanning chain who is unbearable and awful (that's a whole other story and review) and I made the decision to look for a new tanning salon. That's how Tan Lines came into my life. Tan Lines holds corner real estate in Burbank on Burbank Blvd near the Pass Ave intersection (free parking on the side of the building) and is owned by the wonderful Dan. I say he's wonderful because he truly is but he also had to put up with the likes of me who made this is into a mega enterprise. You would think I was buying a house! But to be fair: I would be spending a lot of time at my potential new tanning salon so it had to be perfect. I initially called Dan to get information about the salon and explain why I was considering joining. Dan not only patiently listened to my over-explanation of the situation; but also answered all my questions with clarity and immediately made me feel like I was welcome and that he 'wanted' me as a client. He certainly has that professional but local business family personality. To make things even more dramatic, I then went to Tan Lines to take a tour and see everything in person. And let me tell you: Tan Lines is NICEEEE!! The initial lobby is spacious and airy with high ceilings and large windows providing ample natural light. This opens to a main hallway with several branches of hallways (Tan Lines is much bigger than you would expect!) where the individual rooms with the tanning beds sit. Each room is comfortably-sized with a built in seat, shelf and hanging hook aside from the beds. They don't have mirrors in the rooms; but mirrors are available at the end of the hallways. The bathroom is also gorgeous - yes, I called a bathroom 'gorgeous' - being large, modern and spotless. In fact, Tan Lines overall is Mr.Clean level! Tan Lines is immaculate! You won't find a crumb on the floor or a speck of dirt anywhere! My OCD approves! If all of this doesn't sell Tan Lines - their services and pricing will. Tan Lines offers various beds from basic which are still very nice with built in fans and radios to higher-end models that look like space ships/air hockey tables. They even have a bed that is for your legs only! Pricing is also great with several options to consider. I went with the unlimited basic bed member plan that is $29.99/month (plus 10% tax) that is auto-deducted monthly and allows you to cancel every three months. Dan also understands that life emergencies happen so he does allow for a limit of freezes to your account. Disregard the other review that said something about having to put $60 down. That isn't a thing. I have now been going to Tan Lines for two weeks and I absolutely love my time there. Dan is so friendly and gracious and already knows me by name, knows that I like a towel, etc. He treats me (and every client) like they are VIP. The energy is just great and very relaxing. I honestly should have come here YEARS AGO! I also enjoy that Dan owns the business but also works EVERY DAY. He doesn't just bank and make others do the work but actually works himself! Kudos! There isn't a single negative thing to say about Tan Lines and I am so pleased to have become a member of their family. Tan Lines is definitely the salon to join for tanning needs in the East Valley area if you, too, need some self care. read more

I went in before a really important wedding and wanted the perfect tan, but I honestly didn't know much about tanning levels, tones, or what would work best for my skin. The staff was so knowledgeable and kind. They took the time to explain all the different options and levels so I could choose what was best for me. They stay up to date with the latest tanning technology, everything felt modern, clean, and super professional. They also recommended lotions I could purchase to enhance my tan, which was easy to apply and I loved the results. I felt completely taken care of and never rushed. My results were natural, even, and glowy without looking overdone. From the moment you step into is chic oasis you can feel the energy and dedication of the owners. It spills into every light fixture, the relaxing color pallet, all carefully chosen and arranged to make you feel like this is where you deserve to be. I always leave feeling refreshed and it's always a treat to chat with whatever lovely person is working that day. Lots of changes happening at Tan lines and not just aesthetically. First and foremost the lobby is so much more calming an appealing. Kudos for switching up the vibes. But also lots of tech upgrades happening. They recently upgraded a bed to red light therapy and they have a more intense red light therapy bed coming mid June. I cannot be more excited to give it a try. I did a combo of the converted red light bed and the matrix tanning today and I feel great, my skin looks a lovely bronze and feels less dry, which is also due to adding the triple threat lotion. For sure a winning treatment. Definitely going to make that a regular thing. Highly recommend coming to tan lines, everyone is super nice and informative. read more

He and his wife recently decided to retire and they sold the business to a good friend. His name is Rocco. He has completely remodeled the entire salon and is bringing in red light therapy as well. The staff is nice and they have really fair prices. Also the membership only requires a three month commitment and has great perks as well (cheaper lotions and spray tans). It's a family run business and the customer service is fantastic. The facility it's self is SO clean you would think you were in a fancy hospital. They have TONS of beds to suit all tanning needs. This review is long overdue. My first time coming in, I was greeted by the owner Dan. Mind you I hadn't been to a tanning salon since high school prom I avoided them for so long because I would always break out with a horribly itchy rash. I shared my past experiences with Dan and he took the time to really explain some valuable information with me. He explained to me about different lotions, different tanning beds/bulbs etc. I am naturally so so pale and was terrified of burning. He gave me genuine advice and pointers and suggested I started with small increments of time and build on that. Let me just tell you, I NEVER burned. Not once. Never got that horribly itchy sensation. Just tan I decided to sign up for a membership and I mostly use the Matrix bed, but on occasion I'll do the stand up bed. Dan and his staff are so kind & professional. They greet me by name and I'm amazed every time because they have so many customers. They are on top of cleanliness as well which is a big deal for me. Very clean beds and a very nice staff. Easy street parking on Kenwood or along the West side of the building. Monthly memberships start at $29 a month, to $49, and $99 based on the intensity of tanning bed you want. I chose the middle option and my bill is $53.90 with taxes and stuff. A little on the high side but nothing can beat the friendliness of the staff and the comfortable, clean tanning beds. read more
