This review is long overdue but my appreciation must be shared. I've been a client for 2-3 years now, and will forever remain one. Katie (who owns and runs her own business - admin, marketing, sales, etc...) is remarkably skilled and extremely knowledgeable about the products she is using and why she is using them on your specific skin type. She is also a wonderful human who genuinely cares about you. Her pricing has always been transparent and fair IMO. You can add on small services as needed but she'll never try to upsell just for the sake of it. The space is welcoming and relaxing, she's thoughtfully placed lights and hung uplifting quotes around the room. Going to Katie before COVID was great, and going to Katie during COVID is great too! Booking online is a breeze, but I recommend you do it quickly because Katie books up a few weeks out! The system shows you all the pricing options and sends you additional information about the location, protocols, etc. Her pricing is so reasonable, with lots of add-ons available too. Mayday's current location is in Burbank near Porto's, with plenty of parking available all over. The space is clearly very clean and spacious! Katie is both fully vaccinated and following protocols thoughtfully and finding creative solutions (i.e., no steam but using hot towels instead). That said, she was always so thoughtful about sanitation and hygiene even before the pandemic, so I'm not surprised! The services themselves are so, so wonderful. Katie has a gentle hand--even though extractions are generally not comfortable, she makes them tolerable. Her products are all high-quality, organic offerings, and she offers them for sale too, but I've never felt pressured to buy anything. I went to see Katie and immediately fell in love. Her space is decorated with inspiration and empowerment that started off our session on the right foot. I got the expert, 90 minute facial. The hardest part of the facial was trying to stop laughing, as Katie is the most hilarious human on earth. I also got a lymphatic massage which was a double whammy of a dream. Not only did I love the feel, I also got the benefits of it! I got my facial in the evening, so she didn't put sunscreen on. I went home and went to bed. She will expect a tip from you. Yes, she is the business owner. My total came out to $201 for a facial that was done in under an hour and a half. I walked in there knowing the price of the facial I had picked and did not anticipate having to pay additional for a tip to the business owner. I always go to self-employed nail techs, estheticians, barbers, etc. and have NEVER had this happen. It is extremely rude. It really left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be back for that reason. read more

Wow, what a relaxing experience. A friend of mine recommended Mayday Skincare to me. I knew I've been way overdue for a facial, but I was so nervous because my last experience years ago (not at Mayday) left my face sooo red and in pain for days. Katie is by far the best esthetician I've ever had a facial with. I'm super awkward and self-conscious, so going to get a facial always made me super anxious. Katie made the entire experience as comfortable as can be. I loved the products she used (and even purchased a couple), and how gentle she was. There's a pretty extensive facial menu and you can max out your relaxation with some fun add ons (hellllllllo scalp massage!) As for the facial itself: one of the best I have EVER received. I started seeing Katie almost a year ago at Glow and followed her to Mayday. She is warm and inviting (as is her treatment room) and she has a very calming energy. When I used to get facials, I just accepted that my skin was going to look worse for a few days after, but Katie has completely changed that!
