I found Konnubio on the Michelin Guide and noted that it was a quick 5 minute walk from our hotel. It was an easy find on a smaller side street. The restaurant was so pretty! It was modernly chic but didn't feel snooty. The lighted tree was a nice touch to the overall decor. Service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, and the food came out at a good pace. Appreciated how the server, who took our dishes away, asked how each one was like we were comparing notes with his favorites. I will go as far as saying that I had the best meal during my entire Italy trip. The food was excellent from front to back. I had the pleasure of trying the following: - Cuttlefish Ink Tagliatella - Molloscs and crustaceans on potato cream and scorpion fish broth - Saffron potato tortelli - Codfish - 24hr short ribs - Triple Zuppa Inglese - Dark chocolate mousse, vanilla crumble with hazelnut chantilly and passionfruit ice cream There was no dish that I didn't like, and each one kept getting better than the next. Konnubio is my favorite restaurant in Firenze in terms of variety, flavor, creativity, and value. Instead of opting for the Tasting Menu which required everyone at the table to get the same menu, my friends and I ordered various items on the menu to share -- almost like creating our own Tasting Menu. The only reason I dined here is because it was the complimentary breakfast spot coordinated through the B&B I stayed at. It is not on a main Ave, but does yet a lot of foot traffic of people coming to the main square. The buffet setup is quite nice given Covid at all. Each morning I would have some eggs, cured meat, crossaints, and some jam. Once seated with my food I get some coffee and orange juice. Great, expansive breakfast buffet (@ 12 Euro, September 2018), includes 1 espresso coffee plus unlimited café Americano from carafe. Can't go wrong with that, and it's a very pleasant, roomy area for breakfast. Located just around the corner from the Duomo. Note that some Yelp reviews mis-identify this as a vegetarian or vegan restaurant. Perhaps it was previously, but in it's current iteration, it's not. It does have vegetarian and vegan items on the menu, although the menu probably changes frequently, and the night we were there, there were not many vegan choices. We also stopped in for dinner, and it's quite a different place. If you do want vegan, I can recommend the Seitan "Burgher" (large seitan chunks marinaded perfectly, served on a bed of rice) very highly. We found the staff to be almost too "high energy," but that's okay. What really matters here is the chef, Beatrice Segoni, who is putting together re-interpretations of traditional dishes - entirely new imaginings that reference back to the originals in subtle ways - try the Moussaka, for example. The Finocchio salad is excellent, too - with oranges and olives, it's a great idea. Excellent wine list, by the way. We'll be back. read more

Was excited to try this place based on the reviews from various sites and being Michelin recco'd. The space was beautiful. The starters were delicious. The first and mains needed some serious seasoning, they were extremely bland. The service was atrocious. Our male waiter who took our order raised his voice many times, told us NO repeatedly, and basically treated a table of adults like we were kids. We were splitting plates (not a difficult thing) and mentioned the starters after he took our main meals. This made him lose his mind where he crumpled up his writing paper and stomped away. It felt like the waiter was doing a bit in how ridiculous he was acting. The other waitress was amazing and kind. You can skip this place and find another great Florence place to dine. We'll have a core memory of the rude waiter but the food wont be remembered. read more

I was looking for a vegan-friendly restaurant in Florence for my husband and I to celebrate our 5th anniversary, and I came across Konnubio, a place that has vegan options but wouldn't alienate my not-yet-vegan husband. First of all, it's gorgeous. The restaurant is heavenly, with soft lighting and earthy decor. We sat by the large window and watched the world wander by. We wanted to order the tasting menu, but then we were informed we'd have to both eat the same dishes. That wouldn't work, so instead we ordered two dishes each. To start, the chef treated us to a small, inventive dish that tasted like deconstructed bruschetta. It was amazing, and our favorite dish of the evening. The menu has since changed from when I was there, but my meal was good but kind of weird. My appetizer was nice, seemed to be Asian inspired stuffed cabbage. My entree was beet spaghetti with tofu ragù (ummm...spiralized beets with cubes of tofu). Again, good, but weird. The presentation of this was lacking. I expected way more for a nearly 20 euro dish. We ordered a side of roasted potatoes which were simple, but perfect. It was also a big portion and helped round of my meal of mostly vegetables. We skipped dessert (the only vegan option was fruit and sorbet) in order to get 2 euro gelato elsewhere. This was our most expensive meal of the trip, nearly 150 euro for two people (five dishes, two glasses of celebratory prosecco, and a bottle of wine). While it was a nice break from the carbo-loading I had been doing, I wasn't blown away by my limited vegan options. Having said that, the menu changes! I'd consider returning, if only because the restaurant is so beautiful and I'd gladly come back for wine and a small bite, if nothing else. read more

So, I guess this "Steak Fiorentino" is just a steak . . . and potatoes. Nothing more. Add just the right amount of salt, and you've got a dish. To be honest, I can make the same steak, and my roasted oven potatoes are way better as the little gems at Konnubio were dropped in the deep-fat fryer and served without much, if any salt. I think the words I had heard on the street were, "anywhere" that serves the steak is good place to get the Fiorentino. So why pay the high price I paid today for just an 'ok' steak? It was good. Our absolute best meal in Florence! We stumbled upon Kunnibio wandering the streets and later found out it was much closer to our hotel than expected. The restaurant decor is super modern and has an elegance to it. I especially love the flooring and lighting. I am impressed every time I eat here. The menu changes every season and I always find something I love. Two years ago was the tuna steak that I came back three times in one week for, last year was a pear ravioli and also a rabbit risotto I fell in love with. This year I had the risotto with lamb ragout and the bistec. The steak was cooked great on the inside, nice and raw, but not seared on high enough heat to create the crispy outside crust I long for. I will continue coming here till I am old and withered. I always try making a reservation the day of and they tell me they are fully booked. It's bullshit. I always stroll in around 8:30 or 9pm and get seated within 10 minutes on some of the busiest weeks of the year. I am usually just a looking for a table for 2-4 people. Love at first sight, love at first bite. This sums up my experience at Konnubio. A love so real, I had to return for dinner just two nights later! If you're vegan: they have you set with really delicious options that are clearly marked. If you're a vegetarian: have at it with the upscale/creative Tuscan-inspired concoctions that involve dairy. If you're an omnivore: (according to my dining companion) you are so very lucky because you have an entire menu of options that are sure to set your taste buds on fire (such as wild boar pasta). I love restaurants like Konnubio because they accommodate everyone quite well. The atmosphere is upscale/classy/romantic and this is not the norm for vegan dining in the world at large. In New York City and San Francisco, yes, of course you can find atmospheric veg restaurants, but otherwise you're used to dining in a brightly-lit joint decked out in lime greens and blonde wood, complete with uncomfortable chairs, the distinct scent of wheatgrass permeating throughout. Not that I mind this if the food is excellent, but come on! Let me get my fancy on sometimes! /rant We discovered Konnubio at the end of our visit in Florence on a Wednesday evening (though they serve until 11ish, I wouldn't expect to come in at Midnight for dinner, so these hours listed are incorrect). No resos, but they sat us immediately in the candlelit dining room off to the side of the bar. God, it's gorgeous here! Referring back to the menu that's online, I see it's not up to date, so this must mean they change it seasonally, which of course is a great thing. I'd go ahead and order whatever seitan dish that's available, because they do magical things with the wheat meat. On my second visit, I had the vegan eggplant parm and it was tasty, but not as good as the 'real' deal (I cut my teeth on eggplant parm and I've yet to find a vegan substitute that's just as good). Going with their creative dishes rather than vegan versions of classics would be my advice. But I daresay you probably can't go wrong here! I absolutely adored both ladies who served our table. They were so helpful and sweet, plus one of them went out of her way to give us the Florentine version of what we call "lagniappe" in New Orleans (ie, a little gift) at the end of the meal (sweets, limoncello and Del Capo, a Calabrese apertif that she insisted we must try and I really did love it). There you have it. I love Konnubio to death. You may be thinking I'm prone to hyperbole, but that's only because I do my best to convey my love for places that deserve your business. read more

5* food; 5* ambiance; 5* server Micael. The two items I ordered from the antipasto section of the menu were so OMG good; I wonder if the other items on that list are equally good. This section of the menu has small appetizers that are several bites of food for 2 or 3EU each. I had dilled herring (didn't care for the pearl onions) and mustard-marinated salmon. I crave both of them. The spinach walnut raspberry gorgonzola salad was satisfying. It was so tasty that I forgot to add the raspberry dressing I ordered on the side. It would have been even better with the dressing. My favorite dish was the fresh fruit dessert served with pear sorbet. The fruit included pineapple, apples and a few others and the sorbet was delicious and perfect texture. Eating healthy and low calories never tasted this good. Good pinot grigio by the glass. My only complaint is that they wouldn't let us sit in the room that had padded seats. When we arrived, they were only using the smaller room. By the time we left, there were diners seated on the padded chairs in the second room and both rooms were mostly empty. Ok, this place is NOT vegan, I just want to make that clear. We had beef and fish tartar just to give you an idea, and it was NOT the mock kind. Looking back, I think this place WAS vegan and then changed, Good: The restaurant itself is very lush and beautiful, so grab your camera for Instagram. I've read so many good reviews about this place and was inclined to trying it, only to find out it's not even vegan. We received an awful tuna tartar dish that was unfresh and straight up nasty. Since the waiter never came to check on us, we kind of took one or two bites and just abandoned the dish. When our waitress came to clean the dishes, they asked if we want to take the tartar to go, and we've politely let her know that the tartar is not good and not fresh. She was nice enough to remove the tartar from our bill, which was very nice on her part (I understand it's not her fault) Bad: Don't get that tuna tartar, get something else instead. Bottom line: There's way better restaurants in Florence if you're going to be spending good money. I would pass, it's not as great as what people here have hyped it up to be. read more

We had an incredibly disappointing meal here during our time in Florence. We had seen the restaurant listed on a reputable online list and decided to try it out based on the diversity of their menu (we don't eat much beef or pork, which we realize makes dining in Florence a bit challenging!). We did the tasting menu and were totally underwhelmed, from the flavorless amuse bouche, to an octopus that was cut so thin you could hardly taste it, to a dry and strangely smoky gnocchi. All of the dishes just tried way too hard to be innovative, but there was just too much going on in the dishes, allowing none of the flavors to stand out, and masking any quality of the ingredients (which seems like the opposite of good Italian cooking). The cost of the tasting menu was also incredibly high compared to all of the other dining options. The space is nice and the wines were good, but avoid this place. read more

There is plenty of shops nearby to explore up there. Many places will offer A shuttle to where Your might be offered a chance to take a boat ride around Positano. Ouch. Recommended by the Concierge Nicholas at Hotel Cerretani Firenze, I expected delicious Tuscan Food with a modern twist. What I received was the opposite. At check-in you are offered a free glass of Prosecco while looking into a beautiful dining room. But beware, this dining room is not for you! If you drink the free wine, you are diverted into a tavern to the left with hard wooden benches. After feeling obligated to stay from the free wine, you choose from a traditional Italian menu which includes many vegetarian options. We purchased a seafood ravioli, a crab pasta, and a side plate of grilled vegetables. All failed. The seafood ravioli was over cooked, soggy, and a mess of flavors. It was garnished with an over cooked prawn. The crab pasta was served with a crab cracker and pick for no reason at all. The tiny legs were soft as if they had been cooked days ago, and the soupy sauce was not good. The grilled veggies were old. Soft, cold potato slices, unseasoned zucchini and eggplant, and other unmemorable additions. There are many other options in Florence. I recommend you do not go here. read more

That's a perfect place for a romantic night. The room is beautiful (admire the lamps above the counter), the waiters are classy, and they keep giving you free food / drinks inbetween courses (scored the night we went: a complimentary glass of prosecco, a free and delicious peppered vegetable soup as appetizer, free biscuits and a free glass of liquor at the end of the meal!!) As for the food, it is a bit uneven, which explains why I didn't put 5 stars. Definitely go for their €10 house spaguettis, very very good. Great meal with wife and kids (4 and 6). Attentive service and a nice three pound steak did the trick. The server was very nice to our kids and made good food suggestion. We for a free aperitif as we waited for the table, kids got orange juice in champagne fluets which they loved. Amazing service - a splash of prosecco for us and juice for the kids as we enter, really engaged staff - conversational, delightful, attentive. My daughters (3 and 6) were dancing to the music and the bartender and manager joined in. It is a joyful atmosphere. Excellent food - consistently delicious Florentine flavors gently intertwined with global influences. We've eaten here four times so far in two weeks and everything has been great. They also have a children's menu that doesn't undermine children's desire for flavor ;-) Beautiful! Elegant and still family friendly - The space is gorgeous - wood, welded metal, glass and concrete. Comfy couches around low tables and large farm tables in the back so it's great for groups or an intimate dinner. I couldn't recommend this place enough. We looked for a new place to try in the city after looking around online. Konnubio seemed promising, so we went for dinner. The atmosphere initially was nice and low-key until we noticed the music, a really cheesy blend of lounge-Mediterranean-lite tracks. There was no wine list offered for glasses of wine, so I ordered a glass of prosecco that had been sitting out for awhile - it was room temperature, not at all cold and definitely not worth 7 euro. Portion was undersized compared to other restaurants. Our waiter seemed disinterested about the wine and about the food. Why is he working there? The only saving grace was the food - I really appreciate innovation in a city so bound by tradition, so for a restaurant to have vegan plates and a delightful codfish appetizer cooked in 3 methods was a welcome change. I had the monkfish with tomato which was a bit undercooked for my taste, topped with lettuce that seemed arbitrarily chosen. The tartare was very nice and tender, could have used more seasoning. + points for creativity, - points for service and atmosphere. Many restaurants decide wrongly that any kind of music is better than silence, which I vehemently disagree with and will argue against anytime. read more

I first read about Beatrice Segoni during the exhibition of Pontormo at the Palazzo Strozzi in March 2014. Beatrice was one of the great chefs in the book of Pontormo's Table created by Art Historian Annamarie Tossani and Italian Food Journalist Annamaria Tossoni. I soon learnt that she worked with Italian master chef Gianfranco Vissani for more than three years. At the time the book Pontormo's Table was published Beatrice was the head chef at Hotel Lungarno, Borgo San Jacopo. Followed by a short time at Convivium Firenze to finally arrive at Konnubio. Konnubio's perfect setting of contemporary and traditional style makes you immediately feel at home. The professional friendly staff are attentive and accommodating. For lunch I chose the fish tasting starter, first course and second course. The fresh tuna was top quality, the hand made small gnocchi was too perfection and the monkfish was outstanding. Mario had the Seitan Carpaccio and Diego enjoyed spaghetti Ragu'. You can find a large selection of Vegan and gluten free products. The wine list is also excellent. All round I will certainly be adding this restaurant to my list of Florentine favourites. read more

Delicious dinner, convenient location, and wonderful ambiance. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and made the experience outstanding. I only like to write reviews when I can give 5 stars, and this is not an exception! We had grilled octopus and beef tartare to start, risotto and tortellini for our first, then braised veal cheek as our main. The octopus starter was one of the best I've ever had; it was perfectly grilled, seasoned, and perfectly tender. Also, I'm not a huge fan of bread, but the bread here was amazing. I gorged on it and by the time the main was out, I was struggling. Thankfully, the veal was so tender and delicious that I found my second wind and was able to finish like a champ. This isn't a super fancy restaurant (no tuxedo needed!) but it's not a cheap local pizzeria, either. For the amazing meal, reasonable prices, and the casual beauty of the restaurant, we found it to bethe perfect way for us to end our stay in Florence. We went right as it opened for dinner on a Sunday, and it was about 50/50 tourist-types and locals in-the-know. Do yourself a favor and have a meal here. You won't regret it. read more

I was traveling in Florence with a vegan friend of mine who is more into kale juice than wine and had serious trepidations. I argued that we had to have at least one beautiful night with some actual Italian food instead of making a tour of California-style raw vegan cafes. As I am the kind of person who enjoys their drinks and loves a good beef tartare or braised rabbit, this place was my gift from god. Everything on the menu looked good, but in addition to the regular list there was a vegan selection in the back - we ended up sharing the fried zucchini flowers with caponata (a vegan dish) as a starter and it was amazing - very crunchy and hearty flowers and the caponata I am trying to recreate at this very moment. I really appreciated that the vegan options were actual Italian dishes, although maybe leaving out the cheese where it would normally have been featured. Basically, everything we ordered was exactly what we wanted, the house wine was better than any other house selection I had tried in Florence, and they even gave us a little "amuse bouche" at the start and biscotti at the end with our coffees. But for me, atmosphere is of equal importance to the food - in a part of the city overloaded with touristy spots just begging for you to waste your money, this place is very tastefully decorated. Cool, without trying to be too trendy, just toeing that line between being welcoming and sophisticated. It's a large restaurant, but with each area broken up nicely, so you don't feel either hidden away or in the middle of the ballroom floor. The wait staff give you your space in the Italian way, so you can have a nice leisurely dinner, but you're never left abandoned and they're very friendly if you have questions. Also, I don't know exactly why the Americans have never understood this, but the noise level was also perfect. Meaning I can't remember what music was playing. My friend and I could talk easily but I was never aware of it being quiet, even though we had a very early dinner (7:30) and there weren't many people there at the beginning. read more
