The presentation on the food is consistent and extremely appetizing. Food comes out hot and usually on their red and black designer bowls and plates. If your table orders several sushi rolls they have these decorative platters (some shaped like a wooden boat and some shaped like an ornate disc) that are almost too beautiful to eat. I say "almost" because there is no way anyone could leave a single grain of rice unattended at our table! It's definitely a breath of fresh air from how overcrowded other restaurants in the area can feel. My husband had their sirloin bento and I had the tofu hibachi bowl. I just moved from NYC area and wanted sushi. Went here and was a bit surprised at the LACK of fresh sushi but this is getting a good review for the creative and delicious rolls. This is not the place to go. I asked for Uni several times. They don't have it and I have accepted that they probably never will. However the PAPA ROLL is my favorite and I can say I go there for pick up 2-3 times a week. Although I must say the Rock Hill Konnichiwa is more generous with the portion of the crab salad that goes over my roll. I have been going to Rock Hill more for that reason. It's a fun Asian restaurant. Good for safe sushi. Not a lot of exotic RAW fish but decent for the staples (tuna, salmon, etxc...). The rolls make up for it completely. I recommend. read more

I was finally able to bring my 2 boys here for our New Year's Eve dinner...and here's the deal. As anticipated, the place was quite busy...and I feel they were short-staffed (at least by 2 waiters). Our waiter did his best, but it was obvious he was overwhelmed. Still, the problem really wasn't the service...but the foods. First of all, I've always liked the foods at this chain...and I've been to several Konnichiwa locations throughout the states. Sadly, on this special night, everything we ordered was utterly disappointing. Both my husband and my son were underwhelmed with their orders. Not quite sure what I thought of my son's Chicken Hibachi Bowl...but from what I saw of my husband's Chicken Katsu Bento Box, the Chicken Katsu was very minimal...like maybe 6 small pieces?? Generous with the rice and the veggies though. Unlike the small portion in the bento box, there was a generous portion of Chicken Katsu in the Chicken Curry Katsu bowl...BUT, here's the shocker. This had to be THE worst Curry Katsu version I've ever seen!?! The Chicken Katsu was just passable at best, but the thing is this...the veggies were mostly sliced Onions and Carrots. No potatoes and no greens. I've never seen a Chicken Curry Katsu bowl with so much ONIONS! Also, the curry sauce was nearly tasteless! This was a pricey bowl too...and they couldn't manage to add in some potatoes?? UGHHH....terrible!! To be fair, it was my bad in choosing this item...in that I didn't fully read the ingredients. Needless to say, I regretted ordering this. Then, this sushi we ordered ("Hadouken") nearly stunned me...with its near-gross presentation. I actually saw a very appetizing picture of it from Konnichiwa Charlotte location...and assumed it would look about the same. WRONG! This looked nothing like the nice version served in Charlotte. Thank God, it tasted O-Kay (not exactly a hit with us on that front as well)...we nearly asked them to take it back, but decided not to. I've eaten here at least twice before this occasion and liked the foods...so I was a bit surprised how each and every dish we ordered was a let-down. Well, actually, the only thing we all liked were their Shrimp Tempura appetizer. Good thing we ordered 2. I will say that I've never been impressed with the sushi presentation here. Unlike the Charlotte and the Charleston locations, the sushi presentation at this Fort Mill location is sloppy at best. It's like NO EFFORT was made in making the sushi look halfway nice...even for their priciest rolls. The sushi rolls taste good enough, but their presentation skills are basic at best. It's a shame. This place is located so close to my home...but I've lost faith in them somehow. Who knows...I may try them again in the future, but I'm not rushing back anytime soon. read more

I used to love this place and came here every week. I always get the Bang Bang chicken bowl. Originally it was such a great deal...around $11 for a bowl that I could get two meals out of. But this restaurant keeps raising prices at a ridiculous level so I won't be back. First they raised it to around $13 but when I went today it was over $16!! Absolutely crazy. The server said well the prices of the ingredients keeps going up. If they don't find a way to get their suppliers to lower the costs you will lose customers. Also today it took forever for my food to arrive and I had to take most of it to go because my lunch was over. Please lower your prices back to where they were or I won't be back. read more

The food was great. The service we received wasn't the best. It was our first time here and yes it was on a Saturday night but someone took our order but I don't think they were our server because they never came back. The wrong food was brought to our table but that's okay, mistakes happen. When we are done eating we sat there for probably about 10-15 minutes waiting on whoever our server was. Someone who I'm guessing was our server came up and asked if we needed boxes but other than that after the food was brought out no one ever checked on us or even refilled drinks. read more

I'm guessing they don't think the clienteles would desires the unique drinks menu. I wish they would at least give it a try.. Owners may be surprise.. Konnichiwa, means hello or greeting in Japanese. Welcome to Fort Mill in the former space that was Zaxby's near the Harris-Teeter at Hiway 160 and Pleasent Road. Only open for about 10 days they are newly open and finding their way. They still don't have a sign up, only a temporary one. Their menu is outstanding and the service and professionalism is exceptional. They have an amazing assortment of sushi and seafood as well as steaks. My server was Alit, also the General Manager. He was very friendly and professional. The Japanese culture is a 'welcoming' one in general and everyone one on the staff spoke and smiled as I arrived and left. I had the Salmon Bento box which was outstanding, The fish was grilled and cooked to perfection. So many times, I've had it undercooked but no so this time. It comes with fresh broccoli and carrots as well as fried rice. It was all excellent and quite a meal for lunch time. I would highly recommend this place.
