Unlike the Kona Reserve locations popping up around town, the Kona Roastery is the lab where many of the beans are roasted. It also happens to be one of my favorite places to sit down for a little caffeine, a little snack, and lots of laptop / WiFi action. There is plenty of parking and the decor is most definitely on point. For a pseudo flagship roastery location, it still 100% has the relaxing cafe vibe and it's a space that is ideal for meetings or a little downtime to fill the daytime void. Their food items are only available till 2pm daily. They include a lot of Hawaiian specialties such as nice variety of musibis ($4-5 each), pastries, bagels, and croissant sandwiches. Their gelato is a special treat for the warmer weather days and not something I'd expect to find at any cafe. Speaking of WiFi, it's super fast. It's the kind of speed where the HD rarely lags and 4K is more than a reality. This alone makes it extremely appealing to work from here and I always end up spending more time than I would have allotted here. As for the roastery itself, it's an interesting space that is situated in the middle of the room. While most of the time it's remained empty, it is always a treat whenever there is someone working to give folks a behind the scenes (#1) look at some of the work they do. It's just another wrinkle that makes this an awesome destination in Katy. ___________ (#1) Or on display?

This coffee shop is a true gem, serving as the ultimate study and work haven. You can expect a positive experience thanks to the friendly and accommodating staff. They've got an a great coffee menu with refreshing smoothie options too. But some of their Signature drinks are a bit too sweet for my taste, so I always ask for less sweetness. My favorite is the Kailula Latte with oat milk and 50% sweetness. The place is perfect for working, with its bright and airy space and lots of seating. It's my go-to spot for a great cup of coffee and a productive work session. So glad you exist Kona Roastery!
Discovered a new remote work gem I stumbled upon this place while looking for new spots to work remotely and I'm so glad I did. There's plenty of seating, much more than most coffee spots I usually visit. The greenery and ambiance create such a calm, inviting vibe. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. I do wish there were more food options but overall it's a great place to get things done. I had a vanilla latte and absolutely loved it.
My matcha latte and croissant sandwich were excellent. I fell in love with the interior and the ambiance was so soothing. I'm truly a sucker for a beautiful space while enjoying delicious food and drinks. The matcha latte was creamy, not too sweet and perfectly earthly. I inhaled my croissant as it was delicious. I couldn't have chosen a better place to get some work done.
Cute coffee shop. Has a Hawaiian theme. They sell baked goods, coffee, and some savory food. It was our first time here. They had some lattes that we had to ask about because we weren't sure what was in them. My husband tried the Shakelatto with cream. He said it was a very strong coffee flavor. I tried it and it was too strong for me. I tried the Kalie latte. It sounded good - cinnamon bun, brown sugar and vanilla. It was too sweet for me. Maybe half the pumps of syrup needed. The staff was friendly. I wish they had the descriptions of each latte easily shown. I'd go back to try something else. And I wouldn't mind trying their food.
Very confused on why this has a five star rating nearly. Ordered a flat white to go and it took about 20 minutes at 10 AM on a Saturday morning. The flat white had such a subtle flavor. You can't even taste the coffee and they used way too much oat milk. Their proportions are incorrect for what a flat white should be. There was absolutely no care put into the coffee itself. My husband ordered a latte and there was no care into the latte art or the way that the milk was steamed. There are much better coffee shop options in the area.
First impression walking in, I thought the place was really cute! I really liked the plants that they had! It was pretty quiet, lots of other customers doing work or chatting amongst themselves. The barista recommended we try the Kailua and Aloha Lattes off the specialty menu that's what we got. Both of the lattes were pretty good! The Kailua was like a sweet oat milk cinnamon latte and the Aloha one was pretty close to a white mocha. This coffee shop was pretty quiet and chill so I'd really recommend if you want a nice place to go and do work or study! We didn't get a chance to try any of the other things they offered but we definitely wanna come back and try some of the musubi and the smoothies!
Hawaii cafe in Katy? Yes please! I love how airy the vibe is with their high ceilings. Great place to relax, hang out with family/friends, study, coffee/tea date, etc. is it quiet? No. Moderate voice volume where you can still focus. I specifically enjoyed their Kona Club sandwich. Aloha latte was good but I wish they would indicate what coffee/expresso has tree-nuts for those with tree-nut allergies to stay away from on the main menu on the wall or at least on their website. Vietnamese iced coffee was meh. I can taste it but it wasn't done correctly. They honestly need to perfect it or just take it off the menu. Service is always friendly. I saw an older lady giving one of the girls a hard time about a ceramic mug cup vs to-go cups but they handle the situation in a friendly matter. Good amount of parking spaces, shared with Shell gas station on a corner.
Unique experience embodying the best of coffee, you can get a delectable, complex, fruity bean (volcanic soil, Kona Hawaii duh) that's been FRESHLY roasted before your very eyes WHILE you drink it, so pretty much the highest quality you can get anywhere and it's done proper with a taster making batches to each level (light medium dark) on the spot, so they have the local accuracy in small quantities to actively derive the maximum potential from each bean live, and it shows if u just try a cup, there's a beyond subtle difference even over other specialty local coffee shops because of this painstaking effort. Yes it's 'expensive' but only slightly more than a crap cup you'd get anywhere else and it's way more than worth it. This side of town I know where I'm going for good coffee. Yes they have nitro and yes it's amazing here, I'm sorry I like my cold brew, as shallow as that makes me about coffee, I just love the smoothness & low acidity which to me brings out a diff flavor profile unmatched by hot, and more caffeinated thank u. For many years now I've made this a regular stop, do try!
Lavender matcha oatmilk latte - 10/10 - $8 - Absolutely loved both the matcha and lavender flavors in this. I got it with half lavender and it was a perfect amount. The oatmilk made the drink creamier. This spot has lots of seating, great for doing work or studying! The prices for the cup sizes are a bit high (which is normal these days) but besides that I loved this spot!
Nice ambiance. Our go to place to grab a cup of coffee with friendly staff. But what happened? Breve and white mocha lattes are usually beautifully presented and flavorful. Recommended this place for friends and family to try yesterday and they said both were lacking flavor & aromatics. "Tasted like a Rookie latte." Maybe new staff in training? We've always enjoyed Kona Roastery so I hope they could maintain their quality.
Kona pour over is all you need to know! Makes me miss Hawaii . Lots of parking, lots of room to lay about and WiFi. No loud music

This place is so cute! Heavy Hawaiian influence, which is what makes this place special. The coffee isn't anything special but I liked it, wish I tried something else. They serve much more than coffee though! The location is questionable too...but that's okay. The service is great, and a great place to study. Got a lot of work done here. I will be coming back once this whole crisis is over. read more
The coffee: I ordered the cortado, which is off menu. The espresso really packs a punch. It has very bold flavors, tasting sharp on the tongue with a good amount of bitterness. It's hard to describe the flavors though. It's a bit savory. I wouldn't recommend this drink to anyone who doesn't already really like very dark roasts and minimal extra stuff. It definitely shakes you up, but it's not something I would want to casually sip on regularly. The shop: It's very spacious. I like the cute Hawaiian theme. They have nice plants, good wall art, and a big neon sign that I'm sure people love to take pictures of. There are plenty of windows to let in done natural light. They're open early and close relatively late which is awesome, and they offer free wifi. My only complaint is that there aren't that many outlets, which is minor but means it isn't that great to do work if it's busy. The staff: Very friendly. They greet customers, explain different menu items, and engage in small talk well. They asked me how I like my drink, and offered to re-make it if I had any issues with it. Overall: This is one of the only places offering Hawaiin coffee beans, and it's nice that the experience is enjoyable. If you don't know what to expect as I didn't, the espresso drinks are very strong in flavors that might not agree with everyone. I think the atmosphere and customer service make it a worthwhile visit though. They also offer smoothies and some food items including musubi, sandwiches, and ice cream. read more

Came in for the first time today and ordered a hot choco and a signature hand drip. Kona black sands was recommended by the barista and it was good. It was dark and smooth. The hot choco was ok but my 10 year old said it wasn't very sweet. It might be suited for older pallets. I had a nova lox bagel that was excellent. Over all the atmosphere is hip and there is a lot of seating. This makes it louder than some of the other coffee shops around. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. I would come again if I was in the area. read more

Cute yummy coffee shop. Location is great. Stopped to get gas next door and didn't have to get gas station coffee before heading out. It's close to all the neighborhoods. Only thing I'm not a fan of, is all the little kids that run around touching everything.... I like a chill coffee shop and not have to worry about stepping on someone's 3 year old that they can't control. The mother in line behind us did not care that her son was dragging the wet floor sign all over. Employees are great! This is a shop I would probably just get To-go because of the kid thing. read more

This is such a beautiful coffee shop and I love how much pride they take into sorting their own coffee. The only reason That I gave them 4 stars is because the sushi snack that I had was not the best and flavor they should re think of something else, that is better quality. read more

Keep it up! Been coming for a year 2 or 3 times a week and is consistently awesome. The best americano coffee around. Don't mess it up with cream or sugar. Just enjoy coffee the way it should be. Good place to get work done as well. read more

Cute place in Cinco Ranch! I had the Mashed Avocado w/ boiled eggs on a croissant. It was yum! Nice place to study and get some work done or just hang out! read more

Everyone was super nice and helpful which made the experience really cool! The egg and sausage croissant was pretty enjoyable as well as the cold brew! Wasn't the biggest fan of the cold brew but it was still enjoyable for it being my first time here. read more

There's a Kona reserve right infront my neighborhood not sure if that one is like a baby version of Kona roastery?! but I wanted to come here bc I saw they had lox bagel on their menu! Overall it was ok, it's just missing cream cheese! They barely put any on there! I'd go back bc it was good and I like the coffee but I'll def have to ask them to actually put cream cheese or maybe give me some on the side?! Not really a lox bagel without cream cheese! read more

Cool coffee shop!! Definitely my favorite in Katy. Love all the Hawaii decoration and the large open concept space, great for studying. The service was extremely friendly, answered all of our questions. The musubi was delicious!! Would definitely come back! read more

Been here twice now and I love it! Good drinks and a relaxing atmosphere so you can get some work or studying done. It's not loud and crazy so you can actually concentrate. I'm not a coffee person I'm more of a tea person but try their lemonade; it is ace. Think I found my 'usual' spot! read more
We came here later in the evening so the place was pretty empty and quiet. The space of the coffee shop is quite large with lots of tables and chairs, bigger than your average Starbucks. The barista was very friendly and attentive. We asked for a green tea latte and a flat white. The green tea latte was just the right amount of sweetness with the matcha and milk. It was warm enough to drink right away without scolding your tongue. I really enjoyed this place and hope to come back to try some of their food items like the mashubi. read more

Found this gem here several months ago showing my out of state client places for vehicle auto inspection while I was here in the area for oil change. Been coming here every now and then but then kept on forgetting to check in. First star-friendly staff always with smiley face brighten customers day. 2nd star place is amazingly clean! 3rd clean restroom 4th-great cup of latte for me when I need it. 5th consistency with the same tidiness and clean every visit. This place just made my day!! Great customer service and the coffee was on point makes me miss Hawaii just a little less now that I can get fresh Kona Coffee right down the street. Coffee lovers will love this place. The origin and the quality of the coffee beans are legit! Service is great. The employee surely knew their products well. I got Kona Peaberry pour over, it's pretty smooth. And I tried the spam musuri. I really like this place!! read more

So I just bought a blueberry lemon muffin from Kona haven and I'm on a dairy free diet...I've looked at the website and I can't find if these muffins contain dairy...do they?
I believe it does contain dairy. But you might want to double check with them by calling. Hope this helps
