I came here this morning for breakfast & coffee and I must say this place is super cute. I was a little disappointed when it said online and on yelp they served crepes and other food options. My husband loved his coffee even though it was kind of pricey ( $8 ) a cup. It's very big inside so maybe they will serve more food options and we can have breakfast here more often. read more

A much anticipated addition to the Katy coffee shop scene! This place is incredibly spacious and well-decorated, and I love that there are so many plants. The music isn't too loud, the lighting is good, they have free wifi, and there are outlets, which makes this a great place to study. There's also an area with couches - good for groups and socializing. There's also a lot of parking available. The staff is very sweet and welcoming and offered suggestions when I didn't know what to order. I ended up getting the iced caramel macchiato, which was sweet but not overwhelming. They also have really good cheesecake, and I'll definitely be coming back to try the gelato! I think I've found my new go-to study spot when I'm back in town :-) read more

Great coffee, great service - everyone super friendly - great location. Place is clean and has a laid back atmosphere. One of my new favorites! My only complaint, and it's not Kona's fault, is that both times I visited there were screaming (meltdown level) children running around. I despise this at any establishment unless it's specifically for children, and even then it's unacceptable at a certain level. Parents: if your child cannot be calmed within a few minutes, please remove them from the establishment so others may enjoy their time there. read more

This place is super clean, spacious, and cute! The decor is nice and there's a v instagrammable neon sign on one of the walls. The lighting is also great and there's plenty of seating. They also have wifi and really good cheesecake. The green tea latte was good too :) I don't think they've started serving food yet, but I'm looking forward to trying their musubi when they do. The coffee here is so good and the food is nice, albeit rather pricey. There are tables and chairs, or comfy sofas. I had a regular Americano along with tuna salad which was tasty. My companions had tuna salad sandwiches and a croissant with egg and sausage. I have no idea which coffee blend they use for the Americano (I didn't ask) but it was so smooth - neither too weak nor too bold. Just right! read more

The coffee shop located at Cinco & Gaston. I passed by when I was waiting for my car inspection in next door. Store deco is great. However, I was standing in front of cashier for more than 5 minutes with NO other customers. Three servers were showing each other on POS screen without any attention on me. After I brought their attention, they got excuse that inside of shop was too loud to hear! As recommended for sugar free drink, I got this little tiny sugar free vanilla latte for $5! I have been coming here for years, but now that I live even closer than I did previously, I find myself at Kona quite often and I absolutely love it. I was a barista for 3 years so Im quite picky with my coffee and this place nails it. Their cold brew is phenomenal- on its own its not too bitter, but still strong and packs a punch, just how I like it! I'd also recommend the macadamia nut syrup! Its very subtle and sweetens it up just a bit, but doesn't overwhelm the coffee to the point where you cant even taste it. Onto the food- Their musubi's are so awesome, I cant recommend them enough. I have tried the shaggy dog one, but my absolute favorite is the Spam musubi. I have to get at least one every-time I come here (heads up: they fit in the palm of your hand, so if you're wanting to get full you might need to order more than one). I have also tried the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast bagel, as well as the lox bagel and both are pretty good! They only serve food until 2pm though, so be sure to get there before then if you want some of their hot foods. And lastly, the environment and staff. Kona is well decorated, and always clean. The staff are nice but to be honest I have not talked to them too much, sometimes they seem a little serious, but it's not something I personally mind, and don't think that takes away from my experience at all. read more

This is a really cute coffeeshop, with a convenient location off of Cinco Ranch Boulevard. I grew up in Katy and always remembered the gas station at this intersection, and it's kind of weird to see a coffee place right next to it, but the best kind of weird. There's a lot of space inside and a lot of natural lighting (always a winner for me). They have both drink and food options, which is nice, and lots of parking. If I still lived in Katy, I would definitely come here and do work or even just hang out with some friends! read more

1st visit. Love interior decor. Wonder if it was professionally designed or owners did on own, but very nice look. Variety of seating so you can find a table for family/friends, spot for group study, or laptop on own quite comfortably. Beans are Hawaiian, roasted on site. Never had Hawaiian before. Cappuccino a little different taste, not sure I liked the difference, but Flat White was fairly good. Staff picks up customer messes pretty quick so stays nice & clean. Being Cinco in burbs attracts some families with spoiled kids parents don't keep under control so that was pretty annoying (Like the kid pawing & throwing Christmas decorations on the floor and Dad did nothing, or other kid screaming for 45 seconds when mom tried to drag him to bathroom. c'mon Rents!). Hopefully not a regular event. Staff seemed pretty pleasant. Not sure how into coffee they really are, but seemed well trained and diligently doing their job. Plenty of parking and even a few outside tables. About a mile or so west of 99 @ Cinco Ranch Blvd & Gaston. Makes for more of a neighborhood place with some limited food options, but just the design makes me want to stop by again if I'm in the area. read more

This place is gross. Bought a pie my bf said it tasted like a plastic bag. The coffee I bought was gross and I asked for a dairy free milk and I'm pretty sure I got whole milk. Wanted musubi but was told the kitchen closes at 3:30pm which is beyond annoying. This business needs to get it together if they want a long term successful business. read more

I've only been here once and my first choice was the Hawaiian Monster. It was an iced coffee with some kind of sweet blue syrup at the bottom. It complimented the coffee well. BUT it was pricy for the size. I would come back because I wanna try their signature coffee and anything different and similar to other coffee places I've been to. I do have a coffee burr grinder along with an espresso machine so I wanna try their coffee beans as well. I went here to try what the big hype about "Kona" coffee was. It definitely deserve all the hype it gets, because its probably one of the most flavorful coffee and their in-house roasting is definitely adds to the uniqueness of this coffee shop. I tried their Nitrogen mixed cold brew and it has very distinct creaminess and I also had their house coffee IKloud and that was also pretty good. Staffs are very nice and the decor of the shop is very Hawaii-like and very spacious. Will be coming back!! read more

When I first saw this place it looked like another interesting coffee place and I have thoughts of going there. When I first entered there I was impressed by their interior design, where it includes an classy style on the furnitures and the walls which gives off like French look. I also like how it has that room where you can see an employee working on coffee plants which gives an interesting touch to this place something I haven't seen before. The coffee tastes amazing and rich in flavor; the service is great and friendly. Based on my opinion I would prefer to come to this place more than Starbucks due to uniqueness. This place is really good! The coffee is delicious and breakfast sandwiches i have had are super tasty. My only complaint would be- it's a bit pricey. When my friend and I order 2 coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches it comes out to about $20. It's the only reason I'm not there everyday. read more

I wanted to like this place since the interior and location is quite convenient. Staff was friendly however overpriced drinks and the apparent lack of basic coffee knowledge and terminology really but a damper on my visit. When I walked in and asked for a drip coffee, the cashier had no idea what I was asking for. When I managed to get a standard mug of coffee it was bland and flavorless. Unsure why the ratings for this place is so high but after trying a generic cup of their drip coffee for $3 I can't imagine spending $5-7 on one of their "specialties" read more

Coffee is not bad but you have to allocate enough time to get it. This is NOT the place to go if you are in a hurry. The atmosphere is very laid back and I would say it's more of a restaurant or sandwich shop than a coffee shop. I have been several times and each time I regret it because it takes so long to get a drink. I think I would enjoy it more if I just planned to stay and drink it there. Again the coffee isn't bad.
