The cheesesteak featured the steak, onions, green peppers, mushrooms (?), American cheese, and mayonnaise on a hoagie roll. The roll was amazing, tasting fresh and nicely grilled. However, given how large it was, the roll overwhelmed the meat and vegetable fillings. We particularly would've liked for the sub to have more vegetables. The French fries were okay. They arrived hot, with a sufficient but not large quantity and with a lot of small pieces. Overall, we felt that the meal was a good value, especially if you consider that we split the meal and had enough to eat. Service (4/5). We only saw two workers who alternated between taking orders, manning the grills, and bringing the food to the counter for pickup. Our order was a bit slow to come out but we could only blame ourselves because we allowed two sets of patrons to pass us in line as we reviewed the menu. Staff were efficient and neither friendly nor unfriendly. They got the job done. Ambiance. (2/5). This isn't a date night kind of place. There are functional booths, but no real decor. The fountain drink machine wasn't working but you could order canned sodas at the counter. We were able to access water from the aforementioned broken machine. The place is small (about 6-8 tables) and all the drinks (water, soda etc) are bottled. The owner, Gus, came out and told us he could make anything on the menu any way we wanted. Unusual. He was alone in the kitchen as Casey took over the front. There were one or two tables occupied and it was obvious they were doing a robust to-go business as well. I'm going to start by saying I'm so glad we weren't in a hurry. We'd have missed out on not only amazing food, but great conversation with Gus and Casey. We started with the Clams Oregonata. These are not the baked clams you normally know as Clams Oregonata. Call them whatever you like, they were amazing. At least 30 clams came in a rich yellow broth with minced clams all over the top. It was a meal in itself. We also ordered a thin crust pizza that everyone at the table enjoyed. I then got the Greek Isle salad, which consists of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, Kalamata olives and a hunk of feta in this amazing dressing. Everyone at the table went crazy for this. I could eat it every day and said so. By then we were full but dinner was coming. We had a chicken cacciatore, the scallops over sautéed spinach instead of pasta, the chicken Venezianna, and I simply told Casey to tell Gus to make me something but I didn't want pasta or potato. Out came a pile of scallops and shrimp over sautéed broccoli. I wanted to cry because it was exactly what I had in mind. The scallops were tender and flavorful, as was the shrimp. Everyone loved their meal and we all took home boxes because the portions are huge. Then Gus brought out some baklava on the house. OMG. The best thing I've ever had. It was simply amazing. They do have outdoor seating behind the store but, in 90 degree heat, this was not a very appealing option. In the event, we were fortunate to claim a freshly vacated table and so our evening began without a hitch. This is a Pan-Asian tapas store that does offer larger plate options but the small plates variety and flair makes tapas the obvious choice. We were greeted by Andrew, and Englishman who made his way to the Finger Lakes and chose not to return to Bedfordshire. His service was attentive, punctual, and he offered insight into an interesting if unusal assortment of Asian fusion offerings. Our evening began with Hendricks extra dry Gibsons up before transitioning to the Argiano Winery Super Tuscan which is a delectable blend of French Cab and Merlot with Tuscan Sangiovese. It conveys dark cherry, raspberry, and plum with an earthy underbrush before yielding to a velvety finish. Argiano has made this a staple of their cellar and it never ceases to satisfy. Moreover, when confronted with a bold menu such as Mia's, this full bodied wine has more than enough muscle to stand up to Thai, Chinese, and Indian tapas. At Andrew's suggestion, we selected the Prawns in Kerala curry with Japanese eggplant, Thai sun-dried beef with sticky rice, braised pork belly in a star anise and ginger soyu, and sautéed Asian greens with a mushroom garlic soyu & truffle oil. This blend of tapas complemented each other perfectly and more than sated our hunger. Having said which, their limited yet thought-provoking sleection of desserts was compelling and we finished with an Asian twist on Creme Brulee with double espressos with a twist.
