Met up with friends here over reunion weekend, and it was my first time back in years! The staff seemed a little overwhelmed, but we were patient and it all worked out great. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and was pretty satisfied with it. A huge shoutout to Rena, our waitress--she was so friendly and incredibly helpful! (I don't know why the other waitress when we only asked if we could sit down and we knew it could be awhile for our turn, she was rude). I know this place has gone through a lot of ownership changes lately, so I really hope they keep the food quality up at this level. I don't believe I have ever been to a restaurant with carpet flooring, but this place was a first? We were seated quite quickly given how packed it was during the night of Cornell's parent's weekend. There is complimentary fresh bread and salad, which were good (can't go wrong with good bread). I got the baked ziti. The ziti looked pretty good with the melted cheese on top, but the pasta itself was overcooked, and the tomato juice seemed to separate from the rest of the sauce. Needless to say, I should not have eaten the whole dish as my stomach churned for the rest of the night from the sauce. Overall, I'm not sure I would come back and especially not have the baked ziti. However, portion sizes for all of the dishes looked quite generous for the price and the menu looks pretty extensive so you will get a variety of choice here. Every time I went with my buddies in a small group, I've consistently had a B or B+ experience with solid/good food and usually solid service (although wait times can be long). However, the times I've come with a big party, the food that we've been served was not even mediocre in quality - the meatballs tasted unfresh, the chicken parm was average, and the pasta + marinara sauce felt microwaved. I'll give Souvlaki credit with their breadsticks, however; they're great. In addition, I feel like their menu is too expansive. Cute friendly place on Cornell's Ithaca campus, this place serves greek and italian food. We got the aurora pizza which was okay but not that great, the shrimp fettuccine which was pretty decent, the lamb platter which was decent as well, and another pasta dish which I didn't try. The dishes came with a starter salad that reminded me of Olive Garden's salad. Overall, staff is friendly and ambience is homey so I would recommend Souvlaki, especially given the lack of other restaurants around town. The one thing is it is quite expensive! Date of Visit: September 27, 2021 This was the first restaurant we ate dinner on our arrival to the Finger Lakes. Most restaurants are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in the area. We used Yelp to help us find this one. We were the only "old" people in there among all Cornell students. That was fun as I love young people! The meal came with one of the best salads and bread sticks ever. Served in a large salad bowl to share. We ordered a lamb dish and also the Souvlaki House special with sausage, meatballs and eggplant with mozzarella and marinara sauce. The meatballs were moist and flavorful and the entire "casserole" was amazing and more than enough for two people. My husband ordered the Souvlaki plate with pieces of lamb and homemade tzatiski sauce. The lamb was actually hard to cut and chew. We put it aside and ate the pita with the tzatsiki which was amazing. We told our server at the end of the meal about the lamb. She spoke to the owner and they took it off the bill. An Ithaca institution for over 40 years, I'm not sure why it took me so long to try it. It's not fancy but the food is solid and service was attentive. We ordered a chicken pita, a falafel pita, and a side of fries for lunch. At $8.50, the pitas are a great deal and stuffed full of protein and veggies. We added tzatziki sauce to both which elevated the flavor even more. Most falafel I've had is dry and flavorless but this one was hands down the best I've ever had. Souvlaki House is one of the best places to eat in Collegetown. Especially if you split many of their larger portions with friends, you truly get an awesome meal for a good price. When you first walk in, there is a very warm home-y feeling that many restaurants in Ithaca lack. The servers are all extremely nice and willing to help answer whatever questions you may have. The breadsticks and salad was so so good. Breadsticks were flavorful, crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The chicken parmesan and beef were also very good, nothing terribly special but still flavorful and satisfying nonetheless. After putting it off for so long, I finally went and it honestly exceeded my expectations (although they were pretty low to begin with). I've heard from friends that it was really mediocre food, so I decided to order the bikteki as a classic Greek dish. Although the main dishes took a little while to come out, I thought the beef was seasoned really well. It was very much just beef patties with fries, so can't really go wrong. Came for the Mr's college reunion, and he and his friends HAD to come here to reminisce their past time here. They said the owner still looks the same, and besides a new paint job everything was still the same! And what struck me as a pretty bad ass was the fact that they cut their pizzas here with a machete! Lol We got the standard pepperoni pizza and the popeye (feta with spinach). We also started with their large Greek salad. I liked it, although I think you kind of have be a pizza gourmand to appreciate the fine quality and presentation. ;-) I also got their baklava, I would not recommend that if you like your baklava crunchy because it didn't have the crunch factor. Very happy we looked to yelp for greek food. Found this place and took our chances. My wife and I both ordered the chicken Souvlaki (gyro). Wonderful ! I like it, it's definitely above average (and I'm a picky eater) and for a collegetown restaurant, AMAZING. The portions are good (definitely a family style sharing kind of restaurant). The food tastes pretty good, pastas, pizzas, Greek food, it's all good. The prices are a bit... eh. So collegetown has all these overpriced restaurants because we don't have any other options. But, it's not like Souvlaki House was super overpriced, I'd say it was fair. The atmosphere was good, definitely laid back, casual. Great family restaurant to eat at. To start the meal off, they brought over a huge bowl of Greek salad. The amount of feta cheese they put in it is very generous and it tastes great. As far a pizza goes, this is the best you're going to get in Ithaca. We tried the Cascazilla pie and it was excellent. The crust is cooked to perfection and definitely makes the pizza. I also tried the gyro platter which was solid. Finally, on the way out, I saw one of their calzones and it was the size of a football. The restaurant is pretty cramped and dated but, in my opinion, it adds to the charm of this place. Overall this is a restaurant worth checking out with great food and great service. My first taste of Greek food. I haven't been there in a while but here's what I remember: Their house salad comes out in a big bowl and has huge chunks of feta cheese in it plus a couple kalamata olives and tomatoes. It's dressed with red wine vinegar, olive oil, and oregano. It's simple, but awesome. Very tasty! I could never get enough of it! They also serve complementary piping hot garlic breadsticks with butter. These were good, but nothing special. I remember always getting their Lamb Souvlaki plate ($11.95) and being very full afterwards. The lamb is charred to perfection, it's very juicy and tasty. I recently got their Moussaka ($11.95) and it was pretty good as well. Their Spanakopita ($9.95) is also very good. Everything here is tasty and is all served for a very reasonable price. Good for groups or a date. Next time I'm back in Ithaca I'm definitely hitting this place up again! read more

Well... I'm giving it 1 star for effort. The "breadsticks" are literally heated up hotdog buns with some oil/seasoning on top. Literally: hotdog buns. The garlic bread is also a sandwich hero bread - cut open, heated, with oil and garlic seasoning. Minus two stars (and I'm being generous) The food itself was fine. Wont kill ya, but wont taste like much. I got the chicken souvlaki wrap. It was literally just pieces of chicken, a handful of romaine lettuce, a few tomatoes and onions in a pita. That's all. No sauce, no seasoning. It was boring, dull. Minus one star. Also I'm convinced the pasta sauce was store bought - like Ragu's or something like that. The pasta was just spaghetti with bland sauce. Nothing more, nothing less. Service was OK. We definitely felt played after we stepped out. $35 for 2 people - and the food was not worth the price. Never going back. I came here with a few grad students and I decided to order the moussakka. I have had authentic Greek food so I was expecting something similar. It definitely didn't meet expectations. The cheese topping was non existent. I like that they give you bread, although it is just hot dog buns, and salad. I can understand why students like this place since the value is so good. I love everything about Souvlaki House. In my opinion, it's some of the only good Italian food in Ithaca for its price (of course there are more expensive places that have good Italian, but Souvlaki is very affordable). Food is consistent, portions are generous, friendly staff, and price is right. With many orders, they give a free side Greek salad and breadsticks. I never want them to close.
