Ordered fish and chips and it was terrible. Two pieces of fish that were cooked in motor oils and burnt to a crisp. Not sure how they managed this but the top of the bun was covered in sauce from the coleslaw. It was so bad other members of my party thought I ordered blackened fish. BBQ heaven. I went to support Kenwood HS senior class at a food truck event and decided to get Kommie Pig. I got the porky fries and they were amazing. The bbq sauce was delicious. The pork was great too, perfectly cooked and seasoned. And just the right about of cheese. If I had to nitpick at all, I would prefer that the onions be cooked and not raw. Also they could have put a tad more pulled pork on top lol. But aside from that it was good! My BF got the Chernobyl sandwich with fried and Mac and cheese. The sandwich was so so good. Actually I was jealous that I didn't order it lol. The fries were decent, but the Mac and cheese had no flavor and the sauce was too thin in my opinion. I've had ribs from Kommie Pig 4 times now and overall, I'm impressed with how tender and delicious they are. I also quite enjoy most of their sides, including the greens, baked beans, and potato salad. The ribs are legit. Decent barbecue. Worth visiting again. I recently got the spicy chicken barbecue platter which was the sandwich with two sides. For $12, it's not a bad deal. It wasn't a lot of meat, but they didn't skimp either. It has a light kick, but I wouldn't call it super spicy. I would probably get just the sandwich next time, because the sides were very average. Mac and cheese is decent, with a slight smokiness. The fries had such potential; they looked like boardwalk-style fries. Unfortunately, mine were pretty dry and some of them burnt. Not very tasty. The food came out quickly and the folks in the truck were friendly. I think I'll stick the mains next time; maybe try those ribs everyone else seems to be raving about! read more

I am only giving 4 stars because of the sides, which seemed to not be from scratch, but the ribs were superb! I got a half rib platter when Kommie came to my job for a food truck event. The platter came with two sides, I opted for the Mac n Cheese and Collard Greens which tasted like they came from the can and box. The ribs were delicious in spite of, tender and falling from the bone. The sauce was mouthwatering and the ribs were beautifully seasoned. This is a fun, no frills BBQ truck. For under ten bucks you can get a rather hefty sandwich (though I wish it came with a side) or for 12 you can get it as a platter with two sides. Either way, expect a bit of a food coma. If you're on a budget, the sides are really good and could be paired with a hot dog - which are good, but pretty standard hot dogs. The Kommie Pig is a staple at local food truck events, but I've never tried it until this past weekend. I got the pulled pork sandwich platter with mac and cheese and potato salad; the potato salad was DELICIOUS and creamy, and so was the mac and cheese. The pulled pork was pretty good, but it was a pretty regular sandwich. I loved that the truck had a little condiment bar, and I really liked the options on the menu. However, the wait was pretty long to get the food. I understand that only having two people running a food truck makes things hard, but we waited almost 20 minutes for our meals with only one person ahead of us. Pretty hefty of a wait for a food truck! I did really like the food though, and I'm definitely down to get some more Kommie Pig the next time I need BBQ! read more

Our office in Burtonsville isn't really a hub of food truck activity. Imagine our surprise (and delight) when one stopped on by last week and took a chance on our complex. I'm so glad that they did! I had the Chernobyl sandwich with two sides. The sandwich is aptly named, because my mouth is irradiated with delicious porky goodness and smoked meat awesomeness. Pulled pork, bacon, ham. Yes, yes, and yes. Tiger sauce, more yes. So tasty. Spasibo! The sides were solid, as well. I tried the smoked Mac n' Cheese and Collard Greens. Both were really good, and very filling. I couldn't finish everything. If I had to complain, the meat is so juicy and tasty, that it makes the bun turn into a sauna pretty quickly. Hardly a serious complaint, as I just flipped it over and let the juice very slowly try to seep into the top instead. Much slower absorption that way; win for ingenuity. I'm definitely a fan. I stopped by Kommie at Hopkins on b'way on a thursday for lunch. Lots to choose from including specialty dogs (nathans hotdogs with bbq meat toppings), ribs, pulled pork, chicken, etc. and BBQ sides. Here's what I ate: #SMOKED BBQ RIBS: a little bit disapointing. Nothing special, but not bad. Didn't have a strong smoky flavor and ribs didn't seem like they were cooked slow enough to get that great fall off the bone texture. Smothered in bbq sauce. #Side 1: I got the bbq smoked beans: these were some of the BEST bbq beans I've had. Unlike the ribs, the beans had a strong smoky flavor with large specks of black pepper which elevated this ubiquitous side. #Side 2: Also tried the chilled potato salad which also deserves my praise. Had the chance to try the Kommie Pig at the Halloween parade in Patterson Park. Got the pulled pork sandwich and the fries with pulled pork and cheese. The sandwich was meh. Sauce was on the sweeter side. Pulled pork didn't taste like much other than the bbq sauce. Bun was soggy. The fries were better though! Smothered in sauce and cheese with a good serving of pulled pork. Fries were crispy but soft on the inside and it all went well together. Overall, not bad. read more

Saw this truck in Towson once a few years back. When the (now) wife and I were planning our wedding, we wanted to go with something people would remember. We had a quick ceremony, and opted for food trucks instead of the usual buffet catering spread, and I remembered this truck. Our wedding guests were split half Korean and half random-mix-of-whitefolk, so we wanted both sets of food represented. These guys were awesome: from coordinating with them beforehand, to BSing with them during the event, to the quality of the food itself. Word got spread around the in-laws' church last minute, so we had a last minute influx of attendees. Andre and Rob were more than accommodating for this request, and the event went off without a hitch. With the wife and I walking around schmoozing with guests, they even brought us carry-out containers of food so we had an excuse to shut up and eat for a second. Our guests raved about them, and even my dad (who smokes meat like it's his job) enjoyed their stuff. They cleaned up their area, and hung out with us for a bit after the 2 hours of food service had finished. Really enjoyed this, because it showed that we weren't just another number, and they weren't all about trying to get in and out as quickly as possible. A small group of us ordered some lunch here. Two of us got dogs and said they were pretty good, some interesting varieties to choose from one the menu. And two of us shared a 1/2 rack of ribs with fries and collard greens. The ribs were pretty good, but did not seem to be cooked by the "low and slow" method. And they had more sauce on them than necessary, perhaps using that as a crutch. I would recommend them tinkering with the preparation of the ribs to get to get better. The fries were in fact very good, those were consumed fast. And the collard greens were also OK, but the owners may want to tinker with the seasoning and/or add bits of pork to them. What helped was the fella taking our order, maybe the owner. It`s nice to see some food trucks infiltrating Baltimore and I wish them luck. read more

(7/22/2016) Kommie Pig made a surprise visit to work (their money maker is Wednesdays at Charles and Baltimore Streets, people are cheap at State Center). Bummed no Smoked Chicken (too late in day, they pull the chicken for sandwiches so it doesn't dry out). Got the KP Cuban. Was more like a Cubano-inspired sandwich, it's not on pan suave, but on a kaiser roll. Pulled pork is moist and seasoned with what tastes like pickling spice (found some whole coriander and black mustard seeds), ham is a nice thick smoked slab, tart kosher pickles, and plenty of yellow mustard. Overall, very tasty sandwich, I heartily recommend a visit if you see them. Crestfallen that they only visited us when their usual location was under construction. read more

Yesterday Hopkins had a small food truck gathering so I decided to try out @kommiepigbbq. I got their 'KP Stacker' which was an all beef hotdog covered with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and deli mustard. First thing I noticed was the distinct flavor of the pulled pork. It kind of had a wood smoked flavor with a hint a spice. It was very good and complimented the hotdog well. About that hotdog, it was so small as skinny. You can't even see it in the picture lol. Moreover, it wasn't grilled it tasted like it was broiled. Honestly it probably would have worked better with a Polish sausage. Another gripe I had was with the bun they used. They used a cheap hotdog bun the broke apart easily from the weight as moisture of everything. I think if they use that type a bun they should toast it to help with the strength. Now in saying all that, I definitely enjoyed it and would get it again. With those little improvements the KP Stacker could be 10/10 sandwich! However, with my experience I give it an 8/10! read more

Met up with this truck at the most recent gathering in Station North and although I didn't have to wait in soviet style bread line all day I was less than amazed with the pulled pork sammich. We usually only get about one food truck per week at my office and today Kommie Pig came. I was super hungry, but didn't want to get too full, so I opted for the 2 sliders, one pulled spicy chicken and the other pulled pork. They had just the right amount of BBQ sauce on them and the meat was really tender. For sides, I got the mac and cheese and cole slaw. The mac and cheese was not too creamy and I liked the touch of old bay spice on top. The cole slaw was just okay, nothing to write home about, but added a nice crunch to the meal. I think next time I will try the baked beans. If only I could have gotten three sides! Anyway, I am sitting here, pleasantly full and feeling the effects of comfort food. If Kommie comes back, I will definitely be getting some lunch again! read more

Kommies Pig was at the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire House food truck night the beginning of October. The spare ribs were awesome. They were literally fall off the bone tender. The sauce was not too sour (vinegar base) and not too sweet. It complimented the ribs perfectly. They have a decent choice of sides. Would have liked to see maybe applesauce as a side. Its pretty good BBQ around here these days, considering that my last few trips to Andy Nelson's and Mission produced some rather dry sub-par pork BBQ. The pulled pork and ribs are both done well here: Never dried out, moist, and seasoned a respectable Carolina style. The few sides I've tried are as follows: Slaw: exceptionally good Potato Salad: exceptionally good Collard Greens: standard fare Board Walk fries: sub-par. Too greasy, and limp as a result. Really unhappy with my one and only experience here. I don't understand how this truck has such a good reputation because I have heard such good things but I'll tell you my experience. My friends and I ordered food at an event that was pretty busy so I expected some wait of Course but we each only got the chicken sandwich so it isn't something you expect to wait an hour and thirty minutes for. When I asked them why so long the owner who was somewhat decent apologized and said do you want your money back however with a little bit of a condescending tone to which I replied no I'm just wondering how long in going to be standing here considering I missed the last hou and half of the concert and I'm not even including the time standing in the line this is after we ordered sandwiches we waited an hour and a half. I used to work on a food truck and if our wait time was ever even close to that we would have been fired and the kommie pig food is already made we had to cook raw meats to Order so how they take that long to make sandwiches and put ribs in baskets is beyond me. After arguing with the owner because of the way they acted to a customer one of the other guys on the truck mumbled something about me being an a**hole which again I would have been fired instantly because maybe I was a little irritated but with every right since I had been waiting that long and not to Mention I asked them how long and I said it's not a big deal I'm just wondering the guy says two minutes and we waited another 15 long story short will never go here again the food wasn't anything to write home about anyway wasn't terrible but definitely wasn't somethig I'm craving read more

Bangin BBQ, friendly staff, quick service, and fair prices. What more could a girl ask for in a food truck? I scooped up their pulled pork sandwich last week for lunch, and it was immediately clear that portions wouldn't be a problem with this place. A heaping mound of tender smoky pork atop a hamburger bun that trembled beneath the magnitude of meat was delivered into my eager paws. They gave me some BBQ sauce on the side, but this baby didn't need it. The sandwich alone had me veering towards a food coma, so I can't imagine downing that AND a side of fries...but I'll damn well try the next time I come across Kommie Pig around dinner time...and can make a beeline for napville post feeding. read more

The food isn't bad for the value and the fact that it's hard to find some good BBQ in Baltimore makes that fact even more important. The issue is that you can never find the truck. I first tried them when they randomly appeared outside University of Baltimore, presumably for an event. They messed my order up and gave me completely something different, which I didn't discover until I had walked back home. I walked back and they corrected it with a "give me that food back and I'll give you what you bought". As I said the food was good when I finally got it. Enough that I didn't want to judge them by one bad encounter. Subsequently when I've been in the mood for BBQ I've looked at their schedule to see if they were going to be anywhere near me that I could grab lunch from. Three different times I've seen that they should be somewhere, walked all the way over to where they said they'd be, and the truck was nowhere to be found even after checking nearby areas. read more

We ordered the Nathan's Hotdog with Chili & Cheese ($3.50): As usual Nathan's hotdogs never disappoints. The chili was hearty and well seasoned. We really enjoyed this hotdog. It was delicious and price appropriate. In addition, although we did not try the other things on Kommie Pig's menu, we were very impressed with their prices. All platters with two sides are $7.50. This is an extremely economical dinner for singles and families. Kudos to Kommie Pig for their extremely tasty hotdog and for providing affordable meals on the go. This truck is often downtown and today I finally decided to give it a try for lunch. I had the spicy chicken sandwich, collared greens and baked beans. A sandwich by itself is $8, include two sides and the platter is $12. The spicy chicken sandwich lived up to it's name...it was spicy, too spicy for my taste, but I realize others like the heat like that. The sandwich was prepared with a generous portion of chopped, moist and tender dark chicken meat. The greens and beans weren't bad, but weren't remarkable either. One thing they should reconsider is how the food is packed. It's a food truck, which means your customers are always going to be on the move with their food. I had a very short walk from the truck to the office and unfortunately my bun got soggy from the greens and beans spilling over the container's divider. To alleviate this I think it would be best to place side items in small separate containers and foil wrap the sandwich. This truck offered a good selection of menu items and I am definitely willing to order something else from them. read more
