Ordered $72 + tip worth of a variety of handrolls to-go. Both Rainbow Rolls were missing the avocados (only had small ground portions of tuna and salmon). All rolls had way too much rice (like 75% rice) I could barely taste or feel the texture of the fish. Blue crab was a bit fishy too. If the fish is ground it should be a significant ratio above the rice so it doesn't just drown in rice like a condiment. Our whole order was basically seasoned rice handrolls. Wish I could get my money back but we live too far to drive back. Disappointing because staff were nice and they hand decorate their to-go bags but will not be returning, unfortunately.

The service and pricing is amazing here at Koko Roll! My husband and myself went out of town to visit Mount Wilson Observatory and came across this wonderful place! Some of the best hand rolls my husband and myself have ever had! And the service was top notch!!! We will definitely be coming back!

Driving down to Universal City was a harrowing experience when you have your 2 nieces in the back…read moreand expecting the worst (fighting, arguing, pulling hair????). But these two angels were great and happy to hear the suggestion of Hawaiian food for dinner. We went straight to Aloha Kids (not even stopping at our hotel before hand). The restaurant is so well decorated to me. I loved being in their space! The patio was their catering pick up (next day was Thanksgiving). It was busy! There was a constant stream of people coming and going. Inside Aloha Kids is smaller and narrow with few places to sit. They have a shelf with merch and I recognized some artists from the Bay Area in there! The person helping us told me they like to support small businesses and they were definitely doing so. Now, on to the most important part: the food. I ordered the Kalbi ribs, my husband ordered the loco moco, and our nieces ordered the chicken teriyaki and a spam musubi to share. The ribs were super tender and so good. I almost didn't want to offer my husband one. But I did and he really enjoyed it. He loved his loco moco so much, he barely spoke a word to me while he was eating. Our niece also really enjoyed their food and polished off their plates (just like us). My husband also ordered a side of their kimchi and it was DELICIOUS. The only thing we noted was the mac salad needed a little something, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. If we're ever back in the area, we're definitely coming back and trying other things on their menu!

I have to say I am extremely disappointed…read more 76 dollars for 3 plates. SMH. And before I go on, mochiko chicken is the only dish worth eating here. Now let's begin. Walked into a restaurant where you don't get greeted upon entry, the girl walking around just smiles at you with no words. No hello, nothing. Not even an Aloha! I've been to the big island, there's endless praises everywhere. You did not get the vibe here. First time we came here we were wowed by the food. Portions were great at first. Once we got our orders yesterday, I knew our time had come. Cant support places that over charge for no apparent reason. Plain and simple. Chicken thighs are 2-3 dollars a pound, beef is like 8-10 dollars a pound. I use to be in the food industry and to see the portions of food here the second round. Either it shows they are hurting bad, or the chef "was having a bad day?" I just don't believe that. And I can assure you they are not using halal nor organic meats for them to justify portion to pricing. Back to my first remark like I mentioned above, mochiko chicken is the only dish I recommend if someone is coming for their first time. Soft tender chicken bites sprinkled with some nori like seasoning. Rice scoop and the infamous sad Mac salad. The Mac salad needs love. Serious revamping. I make an authentic island style Mac salad time to time. Far better than this recipe. I also ordered the Galbi which I did not appreciate the bait and switch. Since I've ordered it before and this time it was not cut into strips. Last I checked with the numerous photos posted here on yelp. The version we received just wasn't it. Everyone gets a decent portion of meat. Nothing chewy or even with bones. I even said to my mother in law she is going to love this dish. And she hated it. They still had the bones of the sliced short rib on, VERY FATTY, very chewy. Such a let down. And last the Dinosaur ribs. I asked about them and was given a hand comparison to sizing. Not gonna lie this wasn't it either. There was almost no meat. Was the cow taking ozempic? Google Dinosaur Ribs. No seriously Google, Dinosaur ribs. I mean you guys need some help if you think what I got was dinosaur ribs. Definitely gotta 86 this item or give people what they actually deserve. If you're going to serve a dish and call it dinosaur ribs, atleast provide a dinosaur portion of meat on them. I mean poor execution. Flavor was decent, but having to chew the bottom connective tissue was unappealing and far from appetizing. 68 dollars plus an 8 dollar tip was too steep for this lack luster rendition of what Hawaiian food is and should be.

While I was staring at the menu deciding whether I wanted to get anything, several people came and went with their orders and everyone told me to get the fried chicken. So, I went inside and got the fried chicken with macaroni salad. A few mintues later, I added a katsu musubi to the order. This is not fast-food. The wait is real. About 12 minutes. I then had probably about 10 minutes of driving before I sat down to eat. The fried chicken is delicious and has a great crispy/crunchy skin. There is a faint sweetness that coats the chicken. The meat was not super plump like some national-chain places (I think those places brine-injected the chicken). Depending on your preference, this might feel too dry to you. Their dipping sauce for the chicken is very tasty. If they just sold that in bottles, I'd come just to buy that for use at home! Speaking of preferences, the macaroni salad is also well made, but it's simple and might be disappointing if you're expecting some kind of flavor kick. I liked it very much, because it is in the style of the basic macaroni salad -- someone described it as going home to Hawaii for them -- and I think that's what it is. Portions were enough to split into two meals. So I had half of my chicken and the mac salad. I had planned to also only eat half of the musubi. But it was delicious and had a nice crunch which I'm sure would not have held up being kept in the fridge. I really enjoyed the musubi on its own, but also enjoyed taking turns with bites with that sauce added on. I stored the rest of the chicken and mac salad in the fridge and then had them for dinner 6 hours later. Despite being in the fridge, the chicken still had a bit of a crunchy bite to it - it wasn't a mushy soggy mess. Very friendly service. This is not a sit-down place you go to for a dining experience - just a solid place to get food to go that will be delicious. Now that I've had the fried chicken that everyone seems to recommend, I'm looking forward to trying the rest of their menu.

It is a small, unassuming little place with a free parking lot. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly, and I have to say, the service was great! The lady at the counter was super sweet and made small talk with me. I got my order which came out to $17.12 after tax. Food-wise, the fried chicken was indeed delicious! I loved the batter: it was shatteringly crisp. The chicken was tender and flavored well, but I loved the sauce that came with it! For the mac salad, I thought it was just okay. It tasted a bit plain from other mac salads I've tried, but the noodles were cooked perfectly. For the price, the portion size is okay, but I'm not complaining since the food was good. Overall, the friendly service and fried chicken is what makes me want to come back again! I definitely want to try their other offerings too. Would recommend!

One employee asked if I'd like crab and seaweed salad. I said yeah. Crab is probably imitation crab. I like that the crab and seaweed salad are free. I don't think other poke bowl restaurants serve them for free. I like how the sauces and toppings are labeled on the display cases or glass. I didn't see the trash can so I asked an employee where I was supposed to place the tray and bowl. He said he could take it. Employees were kind. One employee said I'd be paying with cash since I had a $20 bill out. There are at least 4 tables inside. Music played through the speakers. Chairs were stools. This place gets really busy once school let's out! I mean for $4 onigiri, on a student budget,…read morethat's a great cheap eat for an after school snack before dinner! I got the 5 HR set just so I can try out all my favorites 1. Negitoro - so good, not fishy at all, rice was nicely seasoned. 2. Blue crab - slightly too much mayo but otherwise pretty good, sweet and fresh 3. Yellowtail - there are some scallions in here as they should. Nothing to complain about, but the fish wasn't exactly top tier, just good. 4. Salmon - very slightly fishy likely not cured enough or at all? 5. Spicy salmon - the chili they use is quite strong in flavor so you couldn't taste the fish. Yama sushi still makes my all time favorite spicy tuna. I also got the yuzu miso salmon onigiri. Had the filling not been so salty, I would've complained that there was far too much rice. With that said, it was a delicious and balanced onigiri, but I personally would prefer more fish to rice ratio of course. You can taste that they use very good sea salt or at least it definitely wasn't basic table salt. The rice ball was very lightly packed, so it did start to fall apart as I ate. And I accidentally bite and ate a piece of the paper or was served on lol. Edamame tasted very plain with a lot of salt sprinkled on the top only. If you are sodium conscious, I guess this would be good as you can ask them to leave the salt off. However, I wish they boiled it in salted water so at least the flavor is penetrated into the pod. Pineapple yuzu lemonade - this was fine, not as refreshing as I was hoping it would be, but that's my own fault for setting expectations. It was slightly too sweet so we did water it down half way. All the men working there were amazing and would go above and beyond when serving and delivering your food. There was one older lady there I would consider to be more "lazy?" She would only go to the counter and call out the names. Even if you were seated against the wall where it was difficult to get out, she would not budge to deliver to your order too the table. The other two men on the other hand would deliver your order and hand you your meals directly if they noticed you in that situation. Also, maybe I'm just extra irked because she didn't give me utensils and I had always gotten back to my seat against the wall having to inconvenience several ppl having to get up out of their seats for me. The only other con here is the nori on the HR. I wished they would've roasted the seaweed so it's at least somewhat crispy when you bite into it. That would've knocked them out of the park!!! Instead, you get soggy chewy seaweed to bite thru

This is not an unfamiliar practice in many restaurants that cater to service that offers both eat in or take-away. And yes, the restaurant has minimal staff, but I have never felt that my wait time was long and I have always found the person at the register to be familiar with the menu and fully able to explain what some of the foods were that were unknown to me. I started out with the sweet and spicy chicken wings which was in my opinion the best out of all the other food we ordered. They give you house bread complimentary but it's basically just plain toast. My wife got the Grilled Alaskan Salmon with the freshed creamed corn. She also got their soup but didn't like it. I got the 16oz New York steak at medium rare with steak fries. I got the house salad that came with my entree and my wife didn't like that either. Our food didn't take long to come out. My wife did not like her food at all, her salmon tasted more burnt than anything else that just ruin her appetite. My New York steak texture was bad, it tasted more rough and dry. There wasn't a lot of taste on it either so I would not recommend it. Maybe the blue cheese and crispy onion strings are suppose to help but I don't like that so I asked for them on the side. Customer service was alright, we didn't have any issues with our waitress. It was just the food that was not worth it in our opinion and the price.
