I live near this Kohl's at Valencia and McBean and I am always drawn in by their "too good to be true" prices in the L.A. Times Sunday flyer. When I go to the store for a specific advertised item I am usually reminded that "not all Kohl's carry advertised merch" -as told to me by an employee. To date, they have not once had the item that got me there in the first place. Most often disappointed by the apathetic and "crafty" employees. Last time I was there I was successfully ditched by an employee I had to run after to ask a question- she lost me somewhere in house wares. I am giving two stars only to my amazement, on my last visit an employee by the name of Adam had pity on me and found my merchandise and put it on hold at another store. He kinda looked at me with that "sorry dude, I know this place sucks" look. read more

I think their security is impeccable . They can nab shoplifters quick as I used to to work next door to their business and Cop cars are there almost like twice a week before. They offer brand names like juicy couture, jlo, marc Anthony and more. Reasonably priced especially if you have coupons. I suggest thought not to get their credit card because I had a identity theif nabbed my social and there was this investigation that ensued. Just got done shopping at Kohl's on Memorial Day. I needed socks and my daughter wanted to get a swim shirt to keep her warm for swim lessons. A very rude cashier named Leah told me that my daughter was not able to buy a swing shirt using a coupon she had because she was not a customer. She said that only adults are customers. When I told her that was not fair and it was age discrimination she said I'll give you the deal this time. If that's a rule why can she go back on the rule. Amazon is now allowing returns at Kohl's. I entered thru the main door of Kohl's and stopped at the first register. An older woman is sitting on a stool, I ask if her register is open, she says yes. I show her my Amazon return and she says "Go to the back of the store." and sits back down. So I stroll to the back of the store and find the service area. Wait in line only to be told the return for Amazon is at the front of the store, in fact it is just steps away from the first register I stopped at. Wouldn't it be nice for Kohl's employees to know where to instruct customers to return items for Amazon? I did receive a 25% discount to shop at Kohl's for returning items from Amazon, and the young girl at the counter was very friendly; so I decided to shop. Store closed before there said hour !! I will no longer shop here the lady at the door was even rude and nasty about it.... Also came to get a set of pots and Pans it said 40% off however the pan set had one price and the life had another seemed liked they hired it not to make the sale to low. This Kohl's always looks out of order and tired, but I do tend to find what I need despite all that. I think Kohl's is just a place where things get out of order quickly. Don't get me started on the toy section. Didn't have a coupon and paid with my card; at other locations, they'll automatically give you the 15%. Not here. I don't even think I got any Kohl's Cash (but that may be a company-wide thing). Suffice it to say, if you're in the area looking for a Kohl's, opt for the one on Golden Valley Road. Large parking lot, but they're in the very back of the shopping center. Seems like a long walk across the lot to the front doors... They have a couple of entrances. They seem to have a decent selection of clothes for women, men and children...and some housewares, vacuums, bedding, kitchen, etc... But you need to sign up for their own credit card so they'll send you discount coupons from 10-30% off your purchase. Otherwise you have to wait for their weekly ads to get any other discounts. They don't always have your size in stock, or some of the prints on t/shirts aren't available at their store, etc. I think they also have a kohls cash program for frequent shopper, which I'm not. Maybe it's just me, but I thought Mervyns was a better store in terms of selection and price... But, they're no longer around. This is the next best store. read more

In this frantic holiday time driving home from San Francisco this particular Kohls was the only store that had helped me with EVERYTHING. Customer service here is incredible. Ryan the manager had helped me out over the phone (hours before) He was a man of his word. And the cashier was super nice as well. She scanned a coupon for us that we didn't have. Love it for the prices and it is the only place where I can find pants that fit. Specials and coupons help with the prices. Hate it for how crowded the isles are and the amount of time it takes to check out. I want easy in and out of a store and I seem to need to wander around to find what I am looking for. Very rude customer service. The old ladies working there act like they are being bothered when I asked them (plural) for help. I asked one of them for an item and she goes "it should be right over there where you saw it on the mannequin" so I told her I didn't see it there and that is why i was asking. So she asks another old lady and the other one just screams from where she is " it should be right where you're standing" so another old lady standing near by goes "i think this is it" and gives me an item and when I tell her " i don't think it's the same item" she puts it back and keeps on putting items on the rack ignoring the fact that I am still right next to her without even trying to help or look for the item I asked for. So I stand about a minute watching her and I ask "do you think it would be elsewhere?" She goes "I don't know maybe the other side". I understand we all need a job but these old ladies act like they don't want one or they are bothered by people asking for help to buy items that help them keep a job. I did my shopping at Kohl's but my second experience for the day was not pleasant.I went back to purchase toe products for my daughter.at check out I ask the cashier that I do not have Khol's credit card with me she ask me if i can provide my ss# which I did and she check my ID to make sure that my name and adders match, after few second she said it look like the same adders I ask her why she is asking me twice when she checked, She got upset quickly and told me that she does not like my attitude, and she told me if she get the Manager to solve the problem, What Problem ? I think she was a bit RACIST to word me all I was doing is to purchase the product and paying her wages It got me very upset and I would not return to Khol's never ever again, they can take their Credit Card and shoved up where ever they like. NOT HAPPY WITH KOHLS ... I purchased four workout type shirts yesterday and when I got home I realized two of the shirts were the wrong size (my fault I went by the size on the hanger). When I went to return them I was told I had to pay an extra $20 because the shirts I exchanged them for were a higher price... IT WAS THE EXACT SAME SHIRT.. then I was told the shirts I was trying to exchange them for were "tall" so they were more expensive.. I asked why that is not stated on their price monitor like it is with other items. The cashier told me someone must've put that shirt in the wrong rack. That upset me because there were about 20 shirts on that display (are you telling me all those shirts were wrongly placed on that display?). I consider this FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!! read more

I was in yesterday and I had THE ABSOLUTE WORST experience. I went in specifically to look at the makeup. I knew exactly what I wanted. The associate Danielle came over and asked if my friend and I needed help in a very cold demeanor. I said no as I knew what I wanted to buy. I brushed off her attitude thinking maybe she was just trying to help and continued to look at the samples they had out. We swatched a few. Mind you, we both did so in a respectful manner. We weren't making a mess, we were genuinely testing out the products to buy. The entire time she was glaring at us. Not in a helpful way either, in a way that made us uncomfortable. We continued on to clothing and there she was - glaring our way. She asked what item we decided on (also in a rude way). Her stare followed us all the way to the register. At that point I felt so degraded. Did she think we were going to steal these items? We would never - I work retail, that is my job at hand. Don't they have loss prevention anyways? At that point I was irritated. As we waited in line, I debated on talking to the manager but I brushed it off thinking maybe in some twisted logic that was her way of being helpful. As the line grew longer, Danielle came to the line and offered to ring us up. We were just trying to escape this girl, so we told the customers behind us that they could go ahead. Then she rudely asked "why don't you want me to ring you up?" We told her we didn't mind the wait. But then she accused us of knowing the cashier (whom I've never even seen before, even at Kohls!). She went off about some friends and family policy. I was in shock. It wasn't enough that she made us feel like thieves, but now we were liars to? Did she not understand that we just didn't want to be around her? At that point I was livid. Mind you, I am very, very understanding with mishaps that happen because I work retail. I am very patient. But enough was enough. We asked for a manager and found out SHE WAS A MANAGER. I was in shock. How could someone with such horrific customer service be a manager? We asked for another manager. And Susie came out. As we were voicing our concerns to Susie THERE SHE WAS AGAIN. "Is everything okay?" In her rude tone. We didn't even have respect for our privacy or her fellow co worker. Luckily, Susie handled the situation very well. She was the complete opposite - as sweet as can be with exceptional customer service. The cashier, Brianna I believe, was very nice and helpful as well. If it weren't for them, I would never step foot in this store again. It was a horrible experience. Not only did Danielle's awful customer service almost lose her an $80 sale (and let me be honest, I would probably have spent a lot more if I didn't feel rushed to get out of the cosmetic department) but she also almost lost my business for good. I do love Kohls - they have great deals and selection, and I shop there often. But, that experience made me want to get out of there as soon as a could and never come back. In all honesty, I will probably not even step foot in cosmetics as long as Danielle is there. I am thankful for the associates like Susie and Brianna who are able to turn bad experiences around and remind me that just because one associate lacks customer service skills does not mean that's the standard. This place doesn't deserve one star. I always come for the deals, but even that doesn't make up for the bad attitude of the staff and overall disorganized store. My boyfriend and I came by today and sure enough nobody on the sales floor asked if we needed help ever. The clothing is always on the wrong size display hangers. So we proceed to checkout where we wait in line forever while a cashier named Melody holds up the line by flirting with a married dad shopping with his little children. Of course she was more than friendly with him, but for some reason couldn't even smile or let alone acknowledge us. She asked if I wanted to open a kohls credit card. I said I would if she would offer me the discount wether I was approved or not, she said she couldn't do it. Even though every time I've shopped here they give me the discount regardless. She scans a pair of shoes that came up higher than the advertised price. When I mentioned it she didn't even bother having someone check, so I simply told her to take them out of our purchase. No thank you or goodbye or anything from her, maybe because she only likes attention from male shoppers. Anyway, we go back to the shoe department and grab another pair from the clearance. As we go to checkout, the price is higher than the clearance sticker. The cashier calls over a supervisor named Susy who came over with a bad attitude from the start. Susy than proceeds to imply that we put the shoes in the box so we could save a few dollars, says she can't honor the price, and walks away with no apology. No wonder the staff has no customer service. The manager is not a very good example to the staff. After all of that we decided to buy some shoes elsewhere. I will never give my business to this store again. Repeated bad experiences with the staff and management. No customer service whatsoever. And completely messy store. Never again! read more

Have been coming to this Kohl's for over 10 years. I come here for the selection because I can find clothing here for every member of my family. Especially helpful when my kids were younger and I could one stop shop. The greatest thing about Kohl's is the great deals that can be found and that they allow you to apply coupons to already discounted items and even at times use multiple discounts at the same time. You can really save. Because you do get things at very reasonable prices, I often don't expect great customer service. You aren't going to find employees on the floor (for the most part) offering to help you. It is more of a serve yourself type situation. That being said, I have never had an employee be rude to me there and I have never had problems returning items. I would also say the store stays pretty organized and clean looking. On a recent trip here, 3/16/17, I was really impressed with the cashiers. I watched one of the cashier's while I was waiting in line explain to a customer multiple times that a coupon she wished to use was not good because of the date. Although she had to repeat herself several times she remained calm and professional. The young man that rung up my items was also very pleasant and professional.
