But wow this store has been on a steady decline the last 8 months. The staff member with the blue hair is so unfriendly, I have interacted with her on at least 4 shopping occasions and all have been unpleasant. She's not friendly, makes rude facial expressions to her coworkers when working with customers and thinks nobody notices. She has never greeted me. The really friendly customer service staff have never lasted here, but all the unpleasant ones remain which is usually a good indicator that management is lacking. Now when I go to the store I just keep to myself, I'm too nervous to ask for additional sizes due to so many unpleasant experiences. It's not just the girl with the blue hair, but she does seem like the worst. Too bad, it's a beautiful store styled well and in a great plaza.

Okay, I'm gonna start off with the bad stuff and then work my way into the good…read more I went here a few months ago, looking to buy an Overwatch shirt (which I wasn't sure if they carried but I looked anyway). The store was empty of customers, and there were three employees at the counter who seemed to be engaged in some sort of argument. They didn't really notice me. So I looked around until one of them came up to me asking if I needed help. I was like "yeah I need an Overwatch shirt" and the dude was like "fur sure" so he showed one to me, and I walked up to the counter to buy it. There were still two men up there arguing. I stood there until one of them turned around, and the first thing he said was "what?" I was pretty surprised because usually at Hot Topic all the employees make an effort to seem really chill and incredibly pretentious, just like me. But THIS dude looked like he was about to rip my arms off. I was just like "um, I'm just gonna buy this" and he audibly sighed before ringing me up. The guy behind him then mentions a promotion thing where it's a 'buy one get one 50% off'. So I was like "ok dope" so I picked out a bath bomb next to the counter because I really didn't wanna spend any more time in there looking around. Keep in mind that I'm still the only customer, and these employees are glaring daggers into my skull. I felt like I'd walked into a third grade classroom and all the kids turn to stare at the door for about 30 seconds straight looking to see if you're anyone interesting but they just get disappointed because it's only you. Anyway, we're almost done with my transaction when I mention that I have a rewards card. This dude literally rolled his eyes and asked for my card so he could scan it. Basically by the end of the entire thing I had to actually control myself so I wouldn't punch the guy in the face and run out screaming. It was a very uncomfortable experience. So you're probably wondering why I gave four stars. That's because there's this one guy that works there (or used to anyway) that has a map from game of thrones tattooed on his back. It's pretty sweet.

I had the most embarrassing and uncomfortable customer experience I have ever had…read more After reading other reviews, I am honestly concerned to see that similar complaints appear to be recurring. What is going on with the customer service training at this store? An employee not only created a scene in front of other customers, but aggressively approached me, swatted at my cell phone, and either attempted to take it from me or knock it out of my hand. In that moment, I genuinely believed she was about to lay hands on me. She then told me I was not allowed to use my phone in the store and refused to provide her name when I requested it so I could report the incident to corporate. She laughed, appeared completely unconcerned by her behavior, and seemed very confident there would be no consequences. The level of entitlement was shocking. From start to finish, I was treated with disrespect. Initially, I even questioned whether my age or appearance played a role in the unfriendly treatment I received. The employee spoke to me in a rude and condescending manner, raised her voice, laughed at me, and giggled with other employees at my expense. Even after a misunderstanding was clarified, there was no apology, no professionalism, and no remorse. I left feeling humiliated, shaken, and embarrassed. I am still mortified by what unfolded. I spent the evening crying. I do not want retaliation against this employee, nor do I wish to negatively impact her future. However, I firmly believe this behavior must be addressed so that no other customer has to endure the treatment I experienced. No employee should be empowered to bully, belittle, or intimidate customers. The fact that this behavior occurred in front of other employees and customers only makes it more concerning. This reflects poorly on the store, and I hope management takes this complaint seriously, reviews any available surveillance footage, and ensures that appropriate customer service standards are enforced moving forward.

The employee greeted us and let us into the store, but the moment my husband tried to enter the fitting room, she immediately stopped him and said, "You can't try anything on, I'm cleaning right now." Excuse me? Then why did you let us into the store in the first place? What did you think we came in for -- to look at the store and admire the clothes? Obviously, we came to shop and try things on. If you are not allowing customers to use the fitting rooms 10 minutes before closing, that's fine -- but tell people BEFORE they start picking out clothes and spending their time shopping. Instead, you let us walk around, choose the items we wanted, and only then told us we couldn't try them on. I politely pointed this out to her and suggested that next time, she simply let customers know upfront. Instead of acknowledging it, she gave me a terrible attitude and made a face at me. Absolutely unacceptable customer service. We were treated as if we were inconveniencing her by shopping there. This was such a disappointing experience, and after this, we will not be coming back.
