The Boutique was PERFECT! Colleen was working that day and, again, helping ladies who came in looking for "just that little something". She greeted me and asked if I was looking for anything in particular and I told her a pretty dress for a reunion. They had SO MANY beautiful, bright colors and fabrics hitting my eyes from every corner of the store. Not that the racks were crammed, but the store is laid out beautifully, with displays and sections of different styles and curated pieces, making everything SOOO tempting. BUT, I needed JUST ONE DRESS. Colleen acknowledged she was working with a couple of ladies and invited me to look around and feel free to ask any questions. Quickly, my arms were filling with selections. I was so happy to see they still had a large selection of Summer items at the end of July, when other stores were already displaying Fall fashions. Colleen got me set up in a booth and the try outs began. This became such a FUN day of dress up! Normally, I find clothes shopping a drag, but this boutique has acquired a following of loyal shoppers and each lady in there was supportive and encouraging as we tried on and received/gave opinions about each other's selections. About an hour and 8 outfits later, Lisa arrived and joined in the "find this lady a dress" collaboration that was afoot. Both Colleen and Lisa were talking inventory and any other pieces they wanted to see me in. Each item was pretty special, but I kept coming back to one dress in particular that just made me feel happy and confident. EXACTLY what I needed! Ok, so yeah, that ONE DRESS turned into 4 items, much to Colleen's surprise. She never pressured me, or gushed praise, she gave her honest opinion, but thought I just wanted ONE dress. Well, what can I say? The prices are fair and I believe these to be well made items that will last for years with my care. My total came to ~$225 for the 4 beauties I brought home. In my nicely wrapped, reusable shopping bag was a cute little note, thanking me for my purchase and stating their return policy. I believe it was w/in 2 weeks with tags on or store credit if not. My wedding gown was custom made for my body and already fit extremely well. It is also a very simple gown with no lace, beading, or complicated detailing. The only alterations I needed were a hem and a single bustle. At my first appointment, Susie told me she would hem the dress and add the bustle. I specifically asked if I should bring the bridesmaid who would be helping me bustle the dress on my wedding day to my next fitting so she could learn how to do it. Susie told me yes, so my bridesmaid made the trip and came with me. When we arrived for that appointment, however, the bustle hadn't even been done. Only the hem was completed, so there was nothing for my bridesmaid to learn and she had essentially come with me for no reason. What made the appointment even more uncomfortable was a comment about my body. Susie noticed some bunching around the hip area of the dress and told me that this can happen when people gain weight, then asked if I had gained weight since my previous fitting- which had only been two weeks earlier. I told her no and that, if anything, I had lost weight. She then said maybe she simply hadn't noticed it before and started looking for previous photos to compare. Regardless of the intention behind the comment, the way it was brought up and communicated made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and self-conscious about my body right before my wedding. The slight bunching had never bothered me before and appeared to simply be part of how the dress sat on my body. The bustle wasn't done until my 3rd and final appointment. And unfortunately, after all of that, the single bustle broke during my wedding. For $600, I expected a much smoother experience and better workmanship for what were ultimately a hem and one bustle on a simple gown. Between the unnecessary appointment for my bridesmaid, the uncomfortable comments about my weight, having to come back a third time, and then having the bustle fail during the actual event, I personally would not return or recommend this experience to another bride.

So, when I inquired, the nice store clerk showed me some white dresses and then some short black dresses. Neither would do, so no luck. But the store was neatly arrange with some cute ensembles, the clerk was friendly and there's plenty of free parking. Recently, I had the chance to go in just before Valentine's Day. They had lots of red and pink items featured, both for adults and for kids. Their displays were colorful and appealing, put together with flair and whimsy. I did find a couple of gift items for a friend's birthday, so that was a score. I love that they carry hats; one of my weaknesses! The cashier and her manager were both very friendly and offered to help me find anything that I hadn't already discovered on my own. I appreciated that going-the-extra-mile spirit. Prices seemed to be fair for the type of items that I checked out. I like looking for small accents for the kitchen, and they usually deliver. We have a coffee bar, which I like to change out the decor accessories on seasonally. Little 6 inch decorative plates fit perfectly on a mug holder and serve as a place to place mugs while adding sweetener and creamer, saving the mat underneath from spills. I've found really cute ones at HomeGoods, always for a great price versus other options online or around town. Speaking of coffee bar needs - HG carries many options for flavor syrups, as well as other gourmet goodies. I usually go home with at least several items from their specialty food department. Prices reflect a good savings over retail establishments. I usually check out their seasonal kitchen towels. I like that they stock lots of 100% cotton ones. Have picked up some cute mugs for the aforementioned coffee bar. Come to think of it, the large metal mug holder came from HG, too. Just before Christmas I stopped in for last minute shopping. Picked up a few items for our son-in-law's bar, plus cute nutcracker-themed wrapping paper and gift bags. I was able to find everything I needed to round out my shopping list. Mission accomplished! Although there was a long time at checkout, it moved pretty quickly. They could have used at least two more cashiers. It might have been break time when I was there. The woman who helped me get my items scanned was still sporting a smile though it had to have been a long day for her and it was five days till Christmas.
