I purchased a safe with this shop via Amazon at the end of February, but because I'm a goof, I didn't know there was a message center where I could receive messages from a business. I also didn't know vendors are restricted by Amazon as to how they can contact customers...this is not great because it ended up that the safe was returned by the shipping company back to the store in Simi Valley. Luckily after some running around trying to find out what happened and that apparently I'm the weakest link, I was able to get the safe reshipped at no extra cost to me. And then...I was scheduling delivery and the wonderful lady who was helping me at Daylight Transport mentioned that the safe was 300# (!!) and I basically freaked. They don't offer white glove service so basically, I'd have to lug the thing into my house, which is on the second floor of an apartment building with no elevator (some of us still live in units that are affordable lol). She suggests I contact Dean Safe to see if they have a service available. So, I call Dean Safe and after explaining that I've only competed in strong man competitions in my dreams, Amir, a very friendly chap, said that they do have a service, I'd just have to pay extra. I told him, "no worries", but that I'd have to contact the delivery company to return the safe yet again. Amir didn't realize that the safe was already in transit. Yikes! It seems we were in a bit of a jam, but Amir told me that he'd put his head together with a colleague to see if they could find a solution. I waited for a bit, but had to catch a class and they don't get reception at school. Anyway, I call back Tuesday and Amir explains the options to me, which are basically, "you should have hit the gym harder for the past five years" or "do you even lift?" Kidding. Even though I was pretty frustrated at this point, Amir suggested I could rent an appliance dolly at a local Home Depot and hire a couple of real men (my phrasing, not his). I'm pretty sure even even looked up the info while we were chatting to confirm (awesome sauce!). And he also mentioned that the safe actually weighed 230#. Still a little frustrated, but with at least one viable option in front of me, I rented said dolly this morning and I thought...I weigh about that much and I was just able to complete a few pull-ups back to back. Why not give it a shot solo and if I really can't do it, I can always go back to HD and pick up a helper or two. Well, the driver was gracious enough to help me with the safe off the street and up to our walkway and I figured, "what the heck" and gave it a shot. Nailed it! I would say that there is something to be desired from this transaction. I think the best bet is to order from this store directly because you will get more hands on service at a more reasonable price. I would have paid more for the white glove service, but it would have saved all this running around. I also really appreciate Amir, who was so helpful and patient with my bonehead. I think that Dean Safe would probably be better off selling their safes directly and finding better avenues than Amazon to market because that is the one major factor (aside from myself) that made this experience less than 100%. Cannot recommend. Sent my questions to them using their contact form on their website. I sent my questions on June 30, 2024 using one form for some questions and another form for other questions. (last page at the bottom on the right) states 62 lbs. Which is correct? Please advise. Thanks. Dropped in to see Kelly a few months back. She quickly answered our questions clearly explaining the pro's and con's of their numerous offerings. She provided contacts for post-tension slab cable detection so that we could safely anchor to our slab. The guys came out, quickly marked off the areas so that the safe could be delivered and installed. The installers came on-time and quickly but carefully setup the safe, exactly as we 'd asked. They answered all of our questions, showed us how to set the codes and cleaned up all installation materials. End-to-end could not have asked for more, excellent! read more

To the crew at Dean Safe Just under a year ago we purchased a safe from this company. Top notch service and truly pleased with our selection and service. I should have left my review a year but now it's time to truly show how well this company is. I had an issue with a door lock and a tech came out to address and fix it about 4 months ago. After 3 months it happened again which was beyond shocking to all involved. Amsec tech and Mary worked together for a solution and I suggested I wanted it replaced by Amsec. Ley's just say after explaining my issues and concerns and mentioning the cost of a locksmith to address would probably be less or same as a replacement and install, Amec safe agreed to a replacement. After all parties agreed, Mary and Amsec worked together in harmony to replace the safe because they wanted to see the issue and the install team was truly amazing. Our wood floors protected at all times, they cleaned up and even went above and beyond to make sure we are happy. Pricing on the safe was great but everyone know service cannot be measured when you buy a safe. It's after the purchase when you can truly see the colors of Dean Safe. Mary communicated everything to us and the follow up to make sure it was installed and the replacement is now working like it should be. Amsec did the right thing by taking action to not just fix it again but replaced it and gave us a new warranty. Beyond happy and I don't believe we will have an issue since I think they said 1 in a 1000 is the error rate. I can accept when things go wrong as nothing is perfect in our world. But when it does, the company did the right thing by taking responsibility and that is how you know that price is not everything. Service today is priceless and I give 10 stars for the entire team. Customer service was great, Mary was so nice. But it didn't end so well. Dean Safe is expensive and over priced. They claim the Liberty Fatboy JR. extreme safe is $3,899 but they have it for $3,149. But other retailers and even the Liberty website has the safe at $2,799. I asked them to price patch and they said yes. Which was good. DS website had in home delivery at $150 but they were charging me $324. They lowered the price on the safe to its original MRSP but increased the delivery fee. So much for savings. Liberty had a 10% additional savings and free curbside delivery. I mentioned it to DS and they did will validate it but delivery fee went up to $350 and told me I wouldn't be able to get the Liberty rebate offer that is going on. In the end, I ended up at MODLOCK in Pasadena. Frank, the owner, was great, gave me all the discounts Liberty offered plus the rebate. Do not waste your time with Dean Safe. If you do, Do your research on pricing on offers for the safe you want. read more

I ordered a safe from these folks. Paid an extra amount to have FedEx deliver to a location inside my home as it was quite heavy. Received an additional bill for 135.00 from FedEx after delivery. I called FedEx, was told to contact an email address, the usual runaround. I called Dean Safe, explained the problem, and Kelly treated me with courtesy and promptness. Problem resolved. He helped me to think through scenarios in order to pick out exactly what I needed. He probably spent two hours with me. I buy everything over the internet. Every once in awhile you get something that has a problem & in the back of your mind you think "this is gonna suck". I received a 75lb Gun Vault from Dean Safe Co, the packaging was fine and after a couple of days I got ready to install it. When I opened the box, DAMAGE. In the back of my mind "THIS IS GONNA SUCK". NOT SO FAST!!!!! I sent off a few pictures & within 1 hour I had a phone call from Maggie: "I'm sorry for the inconvenience a replacement will be dropped shipped to you in 2 or 3 days". I went to Dean's Safes last week, and was very impressed by the amount of safes on offer, as well as the good sales for the Post Father's Day Sale. Mary was very helpful and gave demonstrations for the safes I was interested in, even though I already had a rough idea what I wanted. For a safe, it is something that I would prefer to buy in person, so that you can examine the dimensions and see for yourself exactly what it looks like, things which you don't get in an online transaction. Before I went to Dean's Safe Company I thought all safes were created equal. Turns out I was way off. After I walked in and saw the amounts of safes and price ranges, I realized that this would be a more complicated purchase than I thought. Luckily for me Mary was there to greet me in the show room and was as knowledgeable as one person could possibly be. She made the entire process of discerning which safe was the right one for me as easy as possible. I realized how just because something is called a safe, it doesn't mean that everything in there is actually safe. Not only did I leave with an education on how safes are made, their options, actual safety factor, and various other points, I most importantly felt good about my purchasing decision. So much in fact I ended up buying 3 safes. The delivery of the safes was top notch. I was worried that they would have problems bringing these safes up stairs without damaging things. This was far from the case. Their delivery guy, Brandon, was first rate. I was amazed at how easily and carefully he was able to get the safes to the proper locations. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is considering buying a safe and wants more value for the money. I called and spoke to a Moses and he told me to send him photos of my safe as I needed to move it from one garage area to another garage area. I sent numerous emails as he requested and never Received a courtesy response.
