I have purchased now a grill, grill accessories, seasonings, butcher paper, fuel (pellets, wood, charcoal), turkey brine kits and more. Majority of the staff I have encountered has been helpful and friendly. Recommend checking out one of their big yearly events. This review is for the service and delivery, not the product: I placed an order for a $6,000 Blaze Marine grill for a clients beach home. The property has approximately 8 stairs to get to/access the back patio. I placed the order after clarifying that during delivery someone would be able to assist me in getting it to its final spot up a few stairs. I was informed 1 person makes the delivery (Peter) and he cannot go up stairs alone with a grill. I then asked if I was at the property to assist, can we get the grill to its spot on that patio? I was told (by Peter) that would work out if I was there. Operating under those instructions, I planned a delivery day and made the 1 hour drive to be at the house to help complete delivery. Upon arriving, Peter looked at the stairs and said it's curbside only and the grill weighs a couple hundred pounds. I said there is a communication issue within the company as I addressed this when I placed the order as I would have arranged movers to meet us at the house. Peter acknowledged I spoke to him and it's curbside only, he will not be lifting the BBQ to the patio. In a BBQ retail business, I think it's important to deliver on the entire order, not leave a customer at the 5 yard line for delivery. If stairs are an issue, it needs to be very clearly stated at the point of order and payment. I also think a company such as this should always offer a white glove delivery option for a surcharge. I would have gladly paid for an additional person to come who is ready to travel up the stairs I specify when I ordered the grill. I also requested a cover for the grill at the time of order, and Peter forgot it. He said 'he would mail it to me' and promptly got in his vehicle and left knowing the awkward situation he had placed me in. read more

I like coming here because they have different types of pellets available and I like the Knotty Wood pellets because different types of wood pellets. They are a great source for BBQ products that you normally don't find at the big box stores. They are more specialized and are knowledgeable. Customer service has always been great all around. My wife and I actually came here during their annual sale back in May and she actually won the Old Country Brazos offset smoker. I was able to coordinate with Andrew to have the smoker delivered to my home. The morning of the delivery, Peter called me 90 minutes prior to delivery. He was nice enough to place it in my patio in the back yard with no issues. read more

The best place to go for all BBQ needs. The staff is friendly and helpful. We can exchange recipes, talk strategy and they are knowledgeable about their products including sauces and rubs. I would not use them to special order a part. I ordered some grates and a griddle, it took over a month to get, they had nothing but excuses. They do however have a nice selection of high end smokers and accessories, would go there for those. Order you extras direct from the factory, you will be much happier! read more

First off they lied about delivery, cost me another 1000.00 to get it to my house. Once I opened the create the smoker looked like it had been in a war. The left front leg is bent, the door has a hugh dent in it, the paint is coming off. I had to fight with them about delivery so I knew it would do no good to talk to them about the damage. I just took my loss and learned to stay away from them. So please don't waste your money, buy from someone else read more

Eric and his team keep stepping up the game between bringing in more new grills, accessories,the best wood and pellets, plus rubs and sauces that you can actually taste before you buy. They have a great line of the best meats too. They have also have stared to bring in national events like the Steak Cook Off Championship. we even entered the first one, what a great time that was. These folks also love supporting our community with their own local fundraising events to help others. If you ever come here for any event you will not leave hungry, if you do your doing it wrong. Eric offer cooking classes on "how to" for different cuts of meat, so if your new to the 'Q" or just want to know how to make an amazing pizza, oh and they sell pizza ovens for win! BAZINGA! I have shopped here for years and have always been impressed until today. Upon going here today with my son we purchase our item and tell the gentleman think Peter or the new manager then that we also have a phone number and military discount please. He replied we don't do that anymore because it is causing inflation. Then promptly told me after replying, "wow a military discounts cause inflation". He replied if we want our prices to stay low which they are not by the way they need to end the military discount. Just disappointed after supporting them and the fact they use to be so military friendly I will be searching for another local business to support instead. read more

I wanted to purchase an offset smoker and I was tempted to order it from Texas when I remembered The BBQ Hq from YouTube. I reached out to Chris at BBQ HQ, in addition to the smoker purchase itself, I needed a short delivery window because this was a gift. The Company in Texas quoted me a 10 day delivery window, and after talking with Chris, I was able to get the same smoker that I was going to purchase and it was delivered in 2 days! Chris and the Hector, our delivery driver, went above and beyond to ensure that the surprise went off without a hitch. I could have purchased the smoker from another dealer, and while I would have received the same smoker, I doubt any other company out there could have provided us with the attention to detail, and customer service that the BBQ HQ demonstrated. Will continue keeping my business local and hopefully this was just a hiccup. **** I tried contacting The BBQ HQ via Instagram to try to get 4 Dry aged ribeyes ordered (about 2 weeks in advance), and zero response. I went in last week to place the order in person and an employee apologized that they "have 3-4 people running their Instagram." I said no big deal let's get these ordered for pick up next week and they took down info and said it'll be done. My parents were coming in from the east coast so it was a special occasion. I walk in today and the order is not there, no idea what I'm talking about, no apology, just that they have ONE. read more

Disappointed with their customer service: They had a really good deal on the smoker that I was looking for, but the unit that I bought from them was malfunctional. The adapter to run the smoker through a wall plug didn't work and when I called them they told me that they couldn't replace the adapter or the unit and that I would have to call Green mountain grills to have them send me any replacement parts. They were closed for the holiday and my wife and I were on a camping trip so if I wanted to use the grill that I just bought on our trip I would have to buy an adapter from Amazon with next day delivery. I called the barbecue HQ back afterwards and ask them if as a courtesy they would allow me to come by and pick up a bag of pellets and they said that since the warranty isn't their proble they couldn't do that. read more

This was an easy five stars for me. Stopped by this place to get a fuse for my pellet smoker, and was thinking it would probably be this little small corner shop that only had a couple smokers. Boy was I surprised. I've been doing barbecue for 25 years and have had everything from trailered offset stick burners, to large commercial pellet smokers. So I have been to a lot of bbq shops, but none of them have even come close to having the amount of gear that this place has. On top of the selection is just how friendly the people there are. They are super willing to help out. Didn't have much time to spend there but I will definitely be going back because if you are in to barbecue this place is Nirvana. read more

Purchased a Fireboard unit from them. Also but RTD ambient probe. Found out the RTD ambient probe is not working and verified by two other probes. Asked to have a replacement sent and they told me I had to deal with Fireboard direct on this. I purchased the probe from them and they are giving me the run around for a $15 probe. Will no longer buy anything from this store. Stay away. Better service from many other on line suppliers. read more

Fortunately we had enough to make it through but a barbecue store that doesn't have charcoal briquettes??? And then finally the rules change at each competition. This area has needed a place like the BBQ HQ and Eric has delivered. It's not a big box store with a bunch of Chinese made grills you'll end up leaving out on the curb in a few years, and that's a great thing. Eric carries high-end stuff (Yoder, Memphis, MGrills to name a few), has a great selection of pellets at very reasonable prices, a good selection of rubs, and other smoking/grilling accessories. This was my first GMG purchase and to be expected it was a little different then the traeger I was used to using. I am not one just to throw 5 stars out for a business. Today I went in to Simi Pellet Grill in hopes to purchase a new grill. I am a first time buyer of a pellet grill and have only done my research online. I talked with Eric, the owner, who was extremely helpful and friendly. I strongly recommend The BBQ HQ, here in Simi Valley, in Ventura County, near the San Fernando Valley. I recently purchased a Weber grill, a big five burner model with a dust cover and other accessories. Andrew, my salesperson, was courteous and knowledgeable about the many grills, features, etc., for sale, and I was confident I chose the right grill for my family needs and budget. (This service sure beats any big-box store and the price was still competitive.) Their after-the-sale support was super. There was one part that apparently had been damaged during shipping, and after I called Andrew and texted a picture of the bent part (underneath a side-shelf burner) he ordered a factory replacement, texted me to schedule a time and then came to my home and installed the new sheet metal part. Eric is awesome! I had purchased the Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone with WiFi soon after it became available in December 2014. I had only used it once or twice just to check it out and couldn't wait for the promised firmware update to allow connection to my home WiFi network. The firmware came about but I became frustrated with being unable to update the firmware. GMG must have been very busy because they did not answer their phones nor return my messages (which is unusual they are usually pretty easy to reach). Adding to my frustration is the problem with imprecise temperature measurements (when compared to a Maverick wireless remote thermometer). Spoke with Eric who calmed me down and after listening to my problem recognized the problem right away as a control board with inadequate WiFi reception. He arranged for a new one to be sent to me and suggested getting a bigger antenna from Amazon which should take care of the problem. Changing the control board was a snap and Voila! Firmware downloaded and now I can connect to the GMG Daniel Boone! BTW Amazon has a SMA antenna from TP-link (TL-ANT2408CL) which is huge (like Tim Allen Tool TIme huge) and works great! It is only $6-8. Customer support is the sort of thing you don't really recognize as being important until you need it. I get the impression that Eric sells a lot of units for GMG and has a good relationship with them. Thankfully, Eric is one who stands by his customers and the products he sells! read more

So yes, I do give 5 stars, mostly because I'm am writing about someone or someplace that is worth writing about. On the other hand, I will write about someone or someplace that should deserve 0 stars, although 1 star is the least you can give. Eric at Simi Pellet Grills deserves 6 stars! First impression is he is a nice guy. He is a fireman and also sells motorcycle parts out of his motorcycle shop. So business man, firefighter/saves lives and property and loves to BBQ. I can see why he is selling smokers and accessories, its not for the money, but the love of what he does in his life. Eric dropped off my Yoder YS640 W/ comp cart in January 2015. He even gave me 4 or 5 bags of pellets to start with. He gave me several other things and didn't charge me (Didn't hear that from me!). I don't know too many people that go out of their way anymore to do something for someone, but Eric will be at the top of my list. He dropped by several weeks later to bring my Tappecue as their were out of stock when I ordered it. He would have dropped by again to deliver my cover, but I beat him to it and went out to Simi to pick it up. Now my house and Simi Pellet Grills is 60 miles away. I was out at our sister company right down the street, so it was easy for me to walk over to see his new showroom. Oh BTW, his showroom is no longer at the motorcycle shop so make sure you get the new address and make sure he is going to be there if you visit. I got lucky and he was there this time. Now I'm thinking instead of purchasing pellets online, I will probably just drive over and pick some up, or he also told me that his buddy in Glendora (much closer to me) also stocks pellets. Almost as cheap as purchasing a pallet full! Where am I going to keep 2000 pounds of pellets anyway?! read more
