Love this place to shop! I was just here last weekend and hit the clearance racks...I walked out of there spending $38 and some change and got 4 pieces to add to my wardrobe--1 dress (Jennifer Lopez) marked on clearance for $12--1 pair of trousers (Apt 9) marked on clearance for $4.80--1 top (Derek Lam) marked on clearance for $4.40--1 blazer jacket (Apt 9) marked on clearance for $14...I couldn't more happy with my purchase! This is my go to place for JLo shoes too...Love her shoe line! The South Shore location is nice...Its only one floor so it doesn't have a huge selection of every department but it has enough! I love shopping at this location as I grew up in Alameda and this spot used to be the old Mervyn's spot but has been upgraded since to be much more modern... read more

No Kohl's can ever compare to the one in Muncie, Indiana, so I'm super biased here. Just wanted to be upfront about that one. Any department store should have a wide variety, and boy do teenagers get that. The women's department, on the other hand, seems to carry a lot of the same stuff, only by different designers. No necessarily a bad thing, just kinda bland. But hell, it's a department store. My main reason to even review it is that the people are super nice. I come in here just cause I live nearby and get bored in my house alone (I think I need roommates). I wander and shop, usually not buying anything and sometimes forgetting to take off my sunglasses, but the kids who work here never judge me. They smile and genuinely ask if they can help me, and when I say yes they don't seem annoyed. That's HUGE for a retail worker. When I worked in retail I hid in the back room "stocking" as long as humanly possible. These guys seem like they might actually enjoy working there. Like others said, it's clean, bright enough for sunglasses, and the clothes are good quality, not fall apart on your way home, clothes. A good spot for a meandering shopping day. read more

If it was built further away I think with the distance, I'd enjoy it. I live across the street and during construction were sbjected to dust, late night construction and witnessed a pedstrian seriously hurt (jay-walking but still!). The fashion I can live without, even as a single mom...i'll tough it out at TJ Max. But! for bedding, bath and the occasional kitchen gadgetry sales.... one could guess, I"m sorta a fan? (perhas Black Friday Sales too) read more

This place is alright, I guess. There are always employees walking around so if you are in need of assistance, it should not be an issue to find someone. To some that is supremely helpful, while to others it's rather encroaching, and sometimes intimidating. Some things they need to fix: The clothing/intimates sections are a mess! I see a picture of something I want, or a sale of a title and the clothing directly below it is not anything related to what is placed above. For example, if there is a bra I want I cannot find it even if it says that is where it should be placed. It is so annoying. Actually, expect all the clothing areas to be unkempt... just expect it. The dressing rooms only have three rooms. Awkward. This place could use some of those price check devices, so I can check the price of an item instead of being surprised at the cash register. I hate being suprised at the cash register. read more

I placed an order online. When entering the credit card info, the system asks if the "Shipping Address is the same as the Billing address" I marked it for YES. They shipped my items to the incorrect address. I was able to intercept one package and have it sent back to Kohls for a refund but was hoping I could just pick it up at the store. Nope! they couldnt do that. They are refunding the money so I can purchase again and have it "Shipped" to the correct address. The items are more in cost now than when I ordered the first time. BS. Then the second package was actually delivered to the incorrect address. I don't live there and do not know who does. Kohls suggested I drive 100 miles to knock on the door and 'maybe' they will give it to me. "Tough luck" kohls implies. I called customer service many times only to be told there is nothing they can do and I have to just eat the fact that they messed up and I cant have my product or money back. This is BS and I have shopped here many times online and in store and they wont even try to help me. When I spoke to the MGR ISMAEL #13750, he said wouldnt even try to help me. I guess they think Im trying to get over when its really them that took my money and wont honor what I actually asked them to do. "Ship it to the Billing address". I will never shop here again and I will not stop until something is done about this. Im livid because I did my part and I work really fuckin hard for my money to get everything I own Legally and respectfully and companies like this can do people dirty and get away with it. NEXT STOP BBB! read more

I usually find something here. I like the Daisy Fuentes and Apt. 9 brands. One time I went there, though, and seriously, the women's room looked like an ex-employee had taken revenge on their toilets. I'm not saying that's what happened, but..... it was a NIGHTMARE. Gross!! Sometimes I hear the managers barking out I guess what is supposed to be " motivational" orders to push their store cards or whatever. I used to work retail, and I hate that. read more

I went to this Kohls today and the first thing I did was use the restroom! It was nice and clean, had lots of stalls and whatnot. And then I went to the shoe sections and I was asked if I needed help finding anything. Unfortunately, they didn't have my shoe size for the color of sandal I wanted so I ended up buying something different. The wait in line was short for me. Overall, I really liked this Kohls . read more

The more I see this store the more I miss Mervyns. This place is always a mess, especially the toy area, on a Tuesday morning so it's not like the night before would have been rough, but th elace looked like my nephews and their freinds threw a party. The staff is jsut oblivious and the prices are way too high for what you are getting. Remember when South SHore had Mervyn's and JC Penney? Not to mention Toy Town and lots of other cool shops other than the empty shells it has now, man those were really good times that the current South Shore makes me feel sad missing. read more

Beware of hidden sur charges, bad customer service and NOT being able to cancel an order. Customer service is horrible, after placing an order for over $1200.00 with free shipping I notice there was a sur charge for shipping, crazy, I called them and was unable to cancel my order. It has not been shipping why can't I cancel? I can not return it, since the sur charge will still apply. I called 5 hours after placing my order (since they were closed at 2am) Customer service was rude and had very little knowledge of the sur charge...... Future purchases will be made from Amazon, they care about their customers and truly have free shipping read more

I used to really like the quality of Kohls but they don't have quality anymore. Today I wore a top for the 2nd time. A seam on the side came apart it wasn't even sewn in. When I took it off to look at it I could see in the front there is a little hole in it also. This is the 2nd time in the last few months this is happened Also A Vera Wang top The lace shredded . I left here almost crying because HALF THE MERCHANDISE HAS ITS PRICES HIDDEN and it is all the most expensive merchandise. I picked up two pair of workout shorts that were on a rack that said $30 each, 2d pair 1/2 off. Okay, $22.00 each. Not bad, not great. I got to check-out and they were $40.00 each. I went back and there was almost identical looking shorts, same brand, and right next to each other on two different hangers. The $40 each price was in fact printed on the second hanger, but really like 18 pts high, while the cheaper prices was 10X bigger. I noticed the same pattern throughout the men's clothing. Cheap prices were huge, expensive prices were tiny or not displayed at all. I still have no idea how much their jeans are as the prices are hidden everywhere. THIS IS CLEARLY A STRATEGY. Hide the real prices and hope people don't notice. I left buying nothing, frustrated, and swearing I will never return. And, so many many of the clothes look so cheap, even when you can't find the prices. read more

I went to Kohls on 9/6/12 to find business blouses. Sorry, but they lack customer service skills. 1st rep pointed me to the to a machine. Then store superviser was trying to help but was so distracted by the the mic and trying to keep an eye on the front registers. The most helpful in the store was Lisa in the dressing room, she is definitety has Customer Service Skills and was very friendly. If it wasn't Lisa I would be giving this store a 1star. Lisa is a valuable asset to Kohls. I have to say I was asked if I need assistance as soon a walked in the San Leandro Store on 9/7/12 and located all the business blouses needed. Luisa read more

For me KOHL's is the best and reliable site! Every 2 weeks i visit their site looking for what's new! Some people says that they are not good in making deals but in my own opinion they are really good. 1 time i bought 1 pair of unisex sneakers and there's no hassle and the price is cool not to expensive. The best thing to do if you have a problem to buy in KOHL's don't be afraid to ask their Customer Services because they are open minded willing to help you. By the way you can get more discounts on this link couponchief.com/kohls they are really amazing because you'll just save your money. read more

One of the better retail anchors at Alameda's premier destination for retail therapy, South Shore Center! It used to be a Mervyn's department store, as I recalled while growing up; but since 2008-ish or so, it had closed due to the retailer filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, and was replaced by the now popular Kohl's, as the "main" department store/retail anchor at the bustling shopping center. This store is only one level, but its selection is bursting to its seams! Very organized and neatly-stacked displays, this Kohl's offers so much for the whole family. Excluding appliances & other knick-knacks, this Kohl's offers apparel, footwear, housewares, jewelry, small electronics/appliances, even seasonal goodies that awaits for you to purchase them. They also offer a great rewards system, where you earn points for every dollar you spend! In addition, one spectacular aspect, is the $10 "free money" that Kohl's mails to your households on an occasional basis! It literally pays for you to visit by using their coupons you get from the mail; as a bonus, if you subscribe to their e-mail, you'll get coupons instantly! How great can that be?! Kohl's may not be your first choice to get clothes/shoes, but having a location in the island city of Alameda is as good as it gets! Highly recommended! read more

Kohl's is a great place to find all your kids clothes. Plus if you use the Kohl's discount you can save even more. And Kohl's cash is given when you spend $50. Sometimes there's a special on Kohl's cash. Whatever you need for your kids Kohl's is the place for you. They have men's and women's clothes, shoes, purses. You will definitely find what you need at Kohl's. Kohl's has everything you need. read more

HORRIBLE customer service due to the complete lack of employees to help. I'm needing assistance in men's suits so I walked around the whole store, couldn't find one employee on the floor. I guess they wouldn't care if I stole something... read more

This is my second contact about bad store experiences at Alameda Kohls. The first negative experience I had here at Kohls, the manager at Kohls did nothing to provide satisfaction for me and instead he let his assistant manager David emailed me and nothing happen. David offer me $10 off my next purchase and some discounts, but I was never given them at all. Basically, they did nothing to regain my trust for Kohls ever again. Today, I witnessed an Asian older woman in her 40s helped by Kenia in the customer service department and she was not treated with respect at all. Kenia raised her voice at the Asian woman for being confused about why she paid this much amount for an item in cash but got only partial back. Kenia did not efficiently explain the situation and instead she just said she couldn't do it. I was helped my Anna and I told her that if she could ask someone else to help the woman because Kenia treated her as a customer poorly with bad customer service skills. Not only did Kenia raised her voice, sigh at the woman, roll her eyes, and gave an attitude to the woman, she was overall unable to communicate to the woman and explain to her in a nice manner. I felt that I had to give that woman justice because there is no way you can treat someone and talk to someone like that. Anna came over to help Kenia to see what was the problem and in the end, a supervisor had to help resolve the situation. I asked David if we knew what was going on and he said he was not aware of it. Kohls need to be on point with their customers and if you see on Yelp reviews, this Alameda Kohls have bad reviews for customers service. If Kohls corporate and business manager are aware of this problem maybe Kohls should train their employees for better customer service skills then maybe they would gain their customer loyalty back! I have many many bad experiences at Alameda Kohls and I wished for better customer service here but it has been going down hill. read more

The store clerks roll their eyes when you ask for direction and assistance. They even charged me full price for items that are on clearance. Luckily I caught them. What's worse, I bought a clock and actually found rat droppings in the box!! Above all, female shoppers watch out for perverts. The store manager, David, has wondering eyes and is often caught looking at females in very uncomfortable ways. I feel horrible for female store clerks. Maybe that is why they behave so rudely in front of customers. read more

Rude and lazy cashiersssssssss on a Saturday! Hire Ppl who enjoy their job! Slow service......I should say No service!

Check your items before you buy it. I bought about ten items before my vacation, never wore them but when I noticed they all had holes in them and even my Nike sports bra I bought. Had strings that were coming out the strap and soon after the strap had a huge hole that looks like it will detach soon. read more

I rarely write reviews for clothing or department stores but I felt motivated to write one after the horribly rude customer service I received today. I had a return to make and went to Customer Service. Besides my return, I picked up a piece of Godiva chocolate on the way to purchase. When I approached the counter, I informed the associate that I had an exchange to make (since I now picked up the chocolate). She took back my original item, completed my transaction and then said and "Now what did you want to exchange?" I was confused, did she not just hear my original request? I told her I wanted to exchange the original item for the chocolate and just receive the difference back as a refund- in my mind, I didn't think this transaction was that difficult to understand or process. Without hesitation, she replied "OH NO- no purchases can be made here thats only at the front," then she quickly turned her back on me and her fellow associate gave her props on "telling off the customer like it is." Since when did helping customers and doing your job turn into an opportunity to be a b&%^@? Not sure where Kohl's finds their employees- but clearly, they need to do a better job in hiring people who understand everyday, polite manners. RUDE. read more

Go the extra 8 miles to the San Leandro Kohl's. A bigger selection, better customer service, and front row parking. It's mid-August and there were absolutely no shorts for toddler boys... not even in the clearance section. Infact, the clothing section in general (for toddler boys) is about the size of a Pepsi can. This is California. Sure, it's the Bay Area, but 80 degree heat still calls for a pair of freakin' shorts. After I couldn't find anything for my son, I went to the Juniors section to find something for myself. No maxi dresses, no shorts, no capris. Sweaters? Really? It's AUGUST! I always get those $10 off cards and I couldn't even find anything to use it on. BOO! Kohl's SUCKS! read more

I love Kohl's because of their great return policy and their coupons. However, some of their employees are haters and need to put a smile on their face and not give so much attitude. Regardless of that, I shop here often knowing if I'm not satisfied with something, I can always bring it back. read more

Kohl's. Now that's really reaching for the fashion Pie in the Sky - way to go Alameda Towne Centre. And here I thought we'd be getting something a little more upscale than the schlock that Mervyn's brought to this town. I was horrified to see the "coming soon - KOHL'S" sign. Ugh. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing my fellow breeders wearing the same uncreative outfits and soccer-mom get-ups that they all wear. It all came from Mervyn's and now we get Kohl's. If only some of this ample Alameda law enforcement were the fashion police...Kohl's is just another Mervyn's, and equally underwhelming. read more

I'm not sure if I want to say that I was discriminated; but I did not feel safe shopping with my daughter today. I was trying to find a number of items, no one in the store asked if I needed assistance so I was searching all over the store for my items. I kept on hearing the associates talk about "that lady with a child is trying to steal." They kept on laughing especially when I was paying for my items. Needless to say that they had me waiting for about 10 minutes for them to "print" my receipt. I love this location, but never will I take my daughter with me to witness other people bashing me while I shop. read more

I'm a big fan of Kohl's in general but I had a very tiring experience here trying to exchange an item. No one knew where to find my item in the store and told me it was probably discontinued. Wrong. I went to customer service in the back and the item was not discontinued, this Kohl's just didn't have it. I was handed a phone to call Kohl's HQ so I could just order it from them. Very disorganized. read more

I love Kohls its a great addition to alameda:). First lemme say i love the layout it like a big square and i never get lost or confused. The clothes are amazing its very unique and yesi still shop in juniors bcos the adult clothes are still a lil bit big. It may not be designer but its still stylish and hip LOL. They also have bed stuff and cooking stuff and other household stuff too. Theres always also seems that a sale always going on. I have one concern and its the workers. There just seems like there only like 5 in the whole store. Like everyone seems to be at check out stands and theres only like two people working them and the lines are crazy and the checkout process takes over. theres also like only 2 other employess helping around the store.and i can never find them. And when i shop i always ask questions aha. Great store just needas more employees. read more

I love this location BUT there customer service is awful. I walk around the store with my daughter and there employees will follow/ stalk me around the store. Not asking if i need help just to see whats in my cart. I find it very rude to be treated this way and its not right i spend a pretty good amount of money in this store and to be treated like a thief is really uncomfortable. And check out service is bad to they all act like they couldnt be bothered with you. Also in the womens department there is this awful smell im not sure if im only smelling it but its pretty bad its really bad in the front corner closest to the doors but holy crap it smells BAD like they just threw moth balls all over the clothes. I bought a cute jean jacket from there and the smell was all over it i even washed it and the smell is still there!!! Bleh read more

Horrible!!! I don't about anyone else but I have nothing but bad service at this Kohls. I now and will not buy anything at this store and have told others about them. When trying to make a payment there they would not take it, I went to customer service where I thought I was supposed to pay at and the women told me to go pay at the register. The person at the register told me I had to go to customer service, needless to say I walked out. When I called someone on this they hung up on me. I have email them and they said someone would get back to me that was back in November, this is BAD costumer service to say the least good luck to those who try to pay. read more

I love kohl's and always shop here. There are some employees here that are nice especially Coco. But today at around 6:04pm I made an even exchange at their Customer Service. An African American employee with big golden round earrings assisted me, well not really because she never smile or said hi and after the transaction just handed me the receipt. I even said thank you and all I got was nothing. If you are working in retail you must deal with your customers in a good way, right? Is it really hard to smile? Kohls.com - ordered an Arizona State sweatshirt from Kohls.com for my sons birthday present and received a Minnesota Gophers sweatshirt. (I have a photo of the label showing AZA ST - bar code 88150 75901, closed in plastic and you can clearly see its a MN Gopher sweatshirt). I called Kohls "Customer Service", received an apology and was told it would not happen again, miss-picked and did I want to order another one with $5.00 reduced price. I said yes, because there was still time for me to receive prior to the birthday get together. Once again, I receive a MN Gophers sweatshirt with the exact same bar code on the plastic. Only this time the plastic bag is torn and the NCAA label pulled out, as if confirming the correct sweatshirt (?). I called "Customer Service" again, told them they had again shipped the wrong sweatshirt and that had a photo of their label. I was asked to read them the barcode number (above) and was told the correct sweatshirt was shipped. And did I want to order another one. They didn't want to see the photo of the label, nothing. Just did I want to order another one. What ??? Why would I possibly want to order another MN Gophers sweatshirt ??? No corrective action taken, simply place a third order. This is just about any other Kohl's store. I mean you go to Kohl's to get cheap clothing. The clothes are organized and neat. Reviewing Alameda/South Shore store: Positively the worst customer service I've ever seen at a dept store. Zombified employees will walk right by you, no interest in helping whatsoever. If you do find one and ask them a question, prepare for a deer-in-the-headlights look, as in "OMG, an actual customer is talking to me. What do I do?"
