I cannot wait until I can cancel my Kohl's charge. They owe me money for a returned item, and they are giving me the run around. I have been on the phone today for about 1 1/2 hours. The credit card company and the corporate office and the store blaming one to another and telling me they cannot help me. The bottom line is: if you are going to shop here, do not use their credit card. If you do not use your card for a while they will cancel your card and leave you in limbo, and hence issuing a credit to a card THEY cancelled and did not tell me when I returned the item. So I got a new card, still no credit. This is the first company I have dealt with that is so very disorganized. Their line is, "I understand, but you need to call.....( another number). I am warning you. FYI, I was on the phone with them for 1 1/2 hours getting the run around. I have visited the store 3 times so far to try to get my refund. I wanted to buy something and use the coupon from my amazon return. However, the one woman at the register this evening was extremely rude. I was waiting patiently with my friend while she helped another person with an issue. She kept acting like my waiting was an inconvenience. When I put my items down on the counter she got annoyed like "I'm helping this customer" I said "no problem, it's just heavy so I wanted to put it down. Then she was on the phone working through the customer's issue and YELLED at my friend that she was laughing too loudly. I really wanted to buy something but I couldn't buy something in good conscience from such an evil person. She needs to be fired. I been coming here since it opened, the whole plaza been renovated to modern and clean appearance. I definitely like the update give it fresh and chic look that encourage patrons shopping experience and spending decisions. I think when it come to Kohls waiting for sale and coupons definitely wise choices if you don't need the items right away and able to take a chance for the items to be still available later on. The downside in my own opinion is there is a lot of fine print on Kohls charge card if you get approved. First when they issue you 30% off there are many items in exclusion list and no double stack on percentages. I understand if so business would make any or much out on profit and almost like pay customers to shop on their expense indirectly. And when they send you dollar amount coupons also come with many exclusions which so disappointed because it hard to get approved. For the introductory period I think is definitely a bonus and bring a big smile on cardholders and have a good record on their books also! The store is like other store cards can definitely build credit if you start from the beginning with minimum to no credit history. That's something to look at. This particular location doesn't carry Adidas women clothing if anyone looking forward to get their hands on with the card. I was told because of the limited space in store. Apparently Kohl's has partnered with Amazon for returns. So this review is regarding that. If you didn't know you can return your Amazon merchandise at a Kohl's store, you would never know. There aren't any signs posted. I understand Amazon is a separate company from Kohl's, but you would think there would be some kind of signage. When we got there, we waited in line to check out. We got to the cashier, and they told us they don't process Amazon there, and we have to go to a different location within the store. I asked the Amazon associate if they knew no signs are posted, to which he responded 'you can try contacting Kohl's corporate to see if they can allocate resources to purchase and install signs'. I am sure I am far from the only mother with a son around Wild Child's age who has the same encounter, if not with Spiderman, then undoubtedly some other Superhero of current notoriety. So today, in this brand new shiny Kohl's store, we managed to acquire: Spiderman swim trunks Spiderman underwear (shows up really well when little guys wear them under their white little league baseball uniform pants!) Spiderman socks Spiderman flip-flops Spiderman pajamas Spiderman tee shirt Spiderman sunglasses I'm sure if they manufactured Spiderman bow ties, suspenders and cuff links, this Kohl's would no doubt stock them and I would, without a doubt, be asked to buy them... Where to begin.....? - Employees that stare at you with a b*tchy expression when you try and ask them something.... (.. I'm a Kohl's newbie--this is only my 3rd visit to any Kohl's I had heard from friends that Kohl's is similar to my RIP Mervyns. It is and it isn't. I found 3 cute tops and son of Rinky found zero. Didn't really check out the men's apparel so I can't comment on that. They have a huge women's section including Petites. The prices seemed a little steep but most items are marked down. With my Kohl's discount coupon I ended up saving $200, I ended up buying a pillow, a twin bed sheet set, several hand towels, bath towels, washcloths, three blouses and a few other items. I love that they have shopping carts with a high hand rest. Since I have mobility issues having a cart to lean on and walk with is huge help. read more

If I could choose NO stars, I would have. My roommate and I drove all the way to this Kohls in Alameda because she was sure it would have the best selection. It was Sunday afternoon on Labor Day weekend and it wasn't too busy. She really wanted to buy a dress and I wanted a few things for work. First of all, the place was a huge mess and you couldn't find any consistency on the racks as far as styles and sizes. If I was a Kohl's designer, I would have been really upset and pulled my line! What a disgrace. I was trying to find something cute and trendy that didn't come from the Miley Cyrus collection and not from the Old Maid section either. I found 2 shirts to try on - only 2 shirts! It wasn't worth it to dive into the mess that was this showroom. There was no one in the dressing room to help us so we just took whatever we wanted in and I could have easily stolen anything I wanted at that point. I kept hearing over the loud speaker that they needed more checkers and everyone in the store seemed to be checking because there was no one to help us in any other department. My roommate never found a dress because they only had about 3 in the entire store. I tried to find the price of some home accessories but never could get help. When it came time to check out, the line was so long and the staff looked so tired and unapproachable, I decided to go over to the jewelery counter and just see if they could help me with purchasing one shirt. We stood there for a while while the two ladies behind the counter chatted with each other while the guy they were waiting on seemed to be waiting as well. I finally asked, really nicely, if they could help me with my shirt and the older lady, Pamela, barked back at me, "I'm not helping anyone right now, you just have to wait." and went back to bitching to the other about about a customer she waited on that she didn't like!! This pissed my roommate off because she works two retail jobs herself so she responded, "Excuse me? That's no how you should talk to a customer." Then Pamela, said, "I'm not taking any customers right now, you just have to wait! If you don't like it, report me!" There were a few other exchange of rudities from her and then we left to the regular check out line. I would have called up a manager to report her but I honestly couldn't distinguish one person from another in that store. At that point I didn't want to give them any of my money so we went over to Old Navy where I spent $200 and got fantastic customer service the entire time!!! Bottom line, DONT go to Kohl's in Alameda. The Pleasant Hill one is much better and more organized! read more

I have been shopping at Khols for years and this locations have the very worst customer service. - I purchase towels and house items here and spent over $100.00. On my receipt it shows I purchase a jewelry, but when I came home, it wasn't there. I came back and told them what happened. And they took over 30mins to come back and tell me that the jewelry was in the bag when they "supposedly" checked the camera. The jewelry was only $8.00 I don't mind if they would just give me a credit but they didn't. Why on earth would I lie about $8.00 where I purchase way more than $8.00. I tried to order something online from Kohls and they would not process my order, then tried to convince me that this was a fraudulent charge and that the card belongs to a 27 year old male in Illinois. First of all, I find it extremely offensive when people assume that I'm a male because of my name, and second of all the half dozen people I spoke with were all incredibly rude and unhelpful. All of this after being on hold for an hour and a half and giving them my information over a dozen times. Worst customer service experience ever. These people are terrible. All I wanted was to order a vacuum online. It was not available at a location near me so I tried to buy it online for convenience. This was anything but. Not only was their customer service atrocious, but I was spoken to like this is my fault. There is something wrong with their system and the fact that these people are so unwilling to help is ridiculous. It is doubtful that I will ever shop at a kohls again. I used to shop at Kohls all the time, but in the last several years they have gone down hill and this was just the icing on the cake. I went to this Kohl's and got in line. The manager was helping another customer who was upset that her Kohl's credit card balance was wrong. The manager told that customer "We can't fix that for you." The customer got MORE upset and the manager (!) said "Someone else here might be able to help you, I don't know." What? Seriously? The manager then grabs a trainee, and has him ring me up. He had some little postcard type things by his register and I pick it up to read it. She grabs it out of my hands and says, "You don't get that promo. It has to be EARNED so YOU can't use it!" Wow. OK, I get that she was just dealing with someone who was yelling at her and it's really, really hard to not let that get to you but do NOT yell at me because I'm looking at something that's right in my face. I doubt I'll ever go back to that store. If that woman is the person who's running that store, I feel really sorry for everyone else. I like coming to the Kohl's in Alameda as the staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I don't normally shop here, but when there's a rebate or cash voucher in the mail, then I go to redeem or use it. Today, I went with my Mum as she asked me to bring her there, and she asked me to chose a few things for her as she went off and did her own shopping. There was a box of serving items that was not on display but on the shelves, so I asked a staff to open and show me, and he did without hesitation. That was nice. Also, a lot of the items that are at Kohl's are mis-priced... IN YOUR FAVOUR as there are sales and the labels do not reflect the updated pricing. So when in doubt, take the item and scan the label with the barcode to see if the item is on sale. There are a few of the scanner machines located throughout the store, so it's easy. Also, if you join up for their Kohl's email list, they send $5.00 off for your first purchase, and then additional 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, and other discounts that you can use on ANYTHING in the store. Other department stores don't allow this and have restrictions... but at Kohl's, you can use on ANYTHING in the store... EVEN IF THE ITEM IS ALREADY ON SALE/CLEARANCE/REDUCED PRICE. AND, if you go when they have a Kohl's Cash Promotion, you get US$10.00 for every US$50.00 you spend, and these vouchers are good for ANYTHING in the store as well. So you can get perfume, cologne, electronics, gadgets, or anything you want and ON SALE or FREE if you have enough vouchers. And the discounts can be applied to the items that you pay with the KOHL'S CASH rebates! Double Dipping here is AWESOME! Today, my Mum saved more than 46% with all the discounts, additional discounts, and rebates applied to the purchases. Almost 1/2 off everything she bought! Even the Infrared Convection Oven she bought was less than US$78.00 but normal price is like US$169.99 so she got a really great deal! I am happy there's a Kohl's here even though many people don't like it. I am sure if it were to go away, would they be happy with a Marshall's, or TJ Maxx, or some other lower end/reject place to be the anchor tenant at this mall? Heck to the No. And yes, I know it's in the old Mervyn's locale, but it's not the same. Was checked out by a salesrep(?) named Coco at the register yesterday midmorning. She, in my opinion, went about her job in a manner that every employee should attempt to emulate. She helped me to utilize my Kohl's credit card with efficiency and made sure that my experience there had been adequate. Her mind seemed to be very centered around customer service. I also noticed that at any given time, she was paying attention to being considerate to not just me, but to other employees and customers in line. The woman had a gift! I got most of what I was looking for in the store, and have probably never been more satisfied with my visit there. Side note: Kohl's has excellent discounts for good clothes! I always enjoy coming to this place... great prices, good selection, and a friendly staff. The store is usually very well organized... not the the pigsty Ross'es and Mervyn's usually are. I purchased a pair of khakis and shoes for work and saved a decent amount of money. At the register, the cashier offered their Kohl's financing... 30% off the initial purchase and 15% off all purchases for the next two weeks. I don't shop at Kohl's, yet they try to kill me every week. I'm talking about those advertising circulars, loosely wrapped in plastic, that Kohl's and other businesses that no one really wants to patronize inflict on the public nearly every day of the week. They're not quite illegal - yet, kind of like spam and advertising circulars stuck onto your car. But while the spam is mostly just a waste of bandwidth and the ad on your car is mostly litter, those ads that end up on my front walk or steps have a good chance of killing me. Am I the only one who looks at that glossy paper, wrapped in plastic and think that if I unwittingly stepped on the thing, I'd probably go down hard and break my head? I don't think so. My overall point of view of KOHLS is not pointed at any particular location. ALL the stores are set up the same. At least you can compliment the consistency and I've visited 5 stores . #1) The stores have no greeting sign at the door nor overhead sign directing a customer to the RETURN/EXCHANGE counter. #2)The women's pants sections are in constant disarray with folded pants in wrong section stacks and sizes. #3) It's very difficult to find floor help. They are expert at hiding. #4) Let's make is stupider. You can only buy on line using a KOHLS credit card. This business model could tank AMAZON, PAY PAL, SAFEWAY, WALMART. read more

I have to agree with Heidi R. This place is clean and well kept (and should be cuz it only opened this year). But still kicks Mervyns ass, which was a mess. That said, it's not that exciting and not my first choice to shop. My main reason for reviewing is the FAMILY RESTROOM. (Look for it, marked "Family Restroom.") It's spacious, has a standard-size toilet AND a kid-height one. Plus the kids' toilet seat is in some fancy shape with fluted(?) edges like a seashell. Anyway, my 5-year-old got a big kick out of it. When you are a parent with 2 small children, these details make a big difference! (see my review of Borders Books' foldout step stool.) Only other mini-size toilet I know is at Alameda Main Library. So I'd say 3 stars for the sterile, middling retail experience you'd expect plus a bonus star for the kiddie toilet! read more

Found a pair of jeans, but not in the right size. Used their computer kiosk and was able to to order it in the correct size. Made the order on a Saturday, delivered by mail on the following Friday. This store is OK but it's a hit or miss for me. I'll come here to look for houseware stuff, clothes for work (I work in a warehouse setting so I need casual clothes I don't care too much about) and great sales. I usually will find something here on a really nice markdown so that helps. Quality is definitely not the same as Nordstroms, Macy's or stores higher end then Kohls. Materials are many times not as soft. Sometimes things don't wash as nicely; they kind of loose it's shape. But for the price and again, "warehouse clothes" it works great. If you're on a tight budget, this is a good place to shop. They have large variety; it's just whether or not you're going to find something in your taste. THIS STORE, in the words of the younger crowd BLOWS. I will NEVER shop here again. All I wanted was a nice, tasteful dress to wear to mass. They had about four dresses. There is no section for women in their 20's. You either go to the juniors sections or the section for the fifty year olds. There is no in between. -NO ASSOCIATES ON THE FLOOR TO HELP -THE RACKS WERE PACKED SO TIGHTLY WITH ALL KINDS OF SIZES THAT I COULDN'T LOOK THROUGH THEM -I EVEN PRESSED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE BUTTON AND WAITED 4 MINUTES AND NO ONE CAME. TRUE STORY- I had been in Kohl's a few times before, and didn't really like the store but figured I'd give them another try. I also had this $10 off card that I got in the paper, so I figured what the heck? I went in, tried to find some pjs for the nephew, and couldn't even maneuver the pjs on the rack they were packed so tightly. I searched and searched for an associate but couldn't find one. I asked the person at the register if someone was working in that Department, and she said they were short staffed. I bought the pjs from somewhere else, but went back the next day to give them another chance. I walk in, look for the dresses, and find none for a twenty-ish woman. I placed an order online. When entering the credit card info, the system asks if the "Shipping Address is the same as the Billing address" I marked it for YES. They shipped my items to the incorrect address. I was able to intercept one package and have it sent back to Kohls for a refund but was hoping I could just pick it up at the store. Nope! they couldnt do that. They are refunding the money so I can purchase again and have it "Shipped" to the correct address. The items are more in cost now than when I ordered the first time. BS. Then the second package was actually delivered to the incorrect address. I don't live there and do not know who does. Kohls suggested I drive 100 miles to knock on the door and 'maybe' they will give it to me. "Tough luck" kohls implies. I called customer service many times only to be told there is nothing they can do and I have to just eat the fact that they messed up and I cant have my product or money back. This is BS and I have shopped here many times online and in store and they wont even try to help me. When I spoke to the MGR ISMAEL #13750, he said wouldnt even try to help me. Beware of hidden sur charges, bad customer service and NOT being able to cancel an order. Customer service is horrible, after placing an order for over $1200.00 with free shipping I notice there was a sur charge for shipping, crazy, I called them and was unable to cancel my order. It has not been shipping why can't I cancel? I can not return it, since the sur charge will still apply. I called 5 hours after placing my order (since they were closed at 2am) Customer service was rude and had very little knowledge of the sur charge......
