I bought a pair of Sonoma style shoes (Kohl's Brand) and they fell apart in the first month. I couldn't find any normal clothes that fit or appealed to me. They have cheaply made, ugly, crap, for fat people and that's about it. Mervyn's wasn't all that, but it was good enough. We just downgraded and I hope they fail. read more

I like this store it was real clean and organized! Alot of things to choose from

I'm glad the store is in Alameda to have this as a local option. About the only other thing I could come up with to say is that it is very average. read more

It is not easy to find a Kohls here in the Bay Area. I live in Oakland so this one in Alameda is closest. I went last night on a Tuesday and I enjoyed my experience. The store was close to empty which was nice for me. There are an adequate number of dressing rooms. The parking is super easy I had to walk like 15 steps and I was inside. The store is clean. Downside is the lack of customer service and enthusiasm. The store had a dull feeling, no warmth or personality, organization is kind of funky. read more

They have really high prices but when there is sales, take advantage because they are great! 30-75% of good items! helpful and plentyful staff as well. read more

This store has a large inventory with plenty of brand name goods, but overall; they don't have very good deals. I've looked through their racks plenty of times and found what I was looking for, but upon further research, I realized that it's cheaper to purchase my clothes at Macy's when they run sales and specials. read more

Beautiful and cleanest store, great clearance section.

I am glad we have Kohl's. It's been there for me for last minute child gifts, underwear for my husband and bras for me. The $10 mailer is a bonus. The staff has always been helpful to me there. The women styles are not for me and i don't see other women shopping for clothes here much, seems like a style mismatch for our community here in alameda. read more

Bought $100+ worth of clothes and got $20 in kohls cash. Had to exchange some shorts since they were too big, lady didn't know how to do an exchange so she made a return and purchase on credit. Then when using my $20 kohls cash the next time i went shopping, another cashier said that my kohls cash was only worth $10, since the first cashier messed up on my exchange, it reduced the value of my initial purchase to be below $100, therefore leaving the kohl cash value of $10. also, when buying dress shoes, they only had the left shoe for my size. What happened to the right shoe???? Salesman gave me display model right shoe since he couldn't find the same style in my size in the stock room. when checking out, there is always a long line in the front of the store, while in the back there is cashiers that do nothing. Front cashiers should direct customers to the back for faster check out. read more

Lame. Advertised a door busted diamond bracelet. Not only did they not have it, the incompetent staff were entirely clueless. Great way to lose customers in a tough economy. read more

If you want to find a pants,a jacket for work place in Alameda, this is the one. Look for 70% off tag and bring a coupon, you can get better deal than nearby TJ Maxx and Ross. Usually Kohl's handles better quality merchandize than those handled by the two. read more

Excellent return policy. I bought a pair of pants a week ago which unfortunately ripped on me at work the other day. I didn't have my receipt, but they were able to find the purchase via the tag & my Credit card. They did a full refund. While I wish the pants had been sturdy enough in the first place, they really bailed me out of a jam. read more

I'd recommend going anywhere but Kohls in Alameda. Heck, go to the dump, you'd get the same level of customer service, not to mention a similar atmosphere. Some of the employees are incompetent, and the rest have better things to do than to deal with a customer. This place is seriously mismanaged. Avoid like the plague. read more

A bit to trendy, for my taste. I am looking for fashion over 50. I do not want to dress like my granddaughter My husband loves this store. They are friendly, helpful staff and store is pretty. Would like to see business attire in petite, that would earn you another star. read more

EXTREMELY disappointed with the lack of professionalism Kohl's telephone customer service has. I've spent the past week trying to find out why one of my items was delivered to Alabama while the other items on the SAME ORDER made it to my house just fine. I called on Monday and after over 40 minutes on the phone with them, I was told I'd hear back from them in 24-48hrs. Today is Friday... nothing. No emails or calls.. nothing. I called them again today. After 15 minutes of zero progress I find out the item I want is no longer available now... grreeaaat. Then we get disconnected. I call back and wait another 15 minutes for a manager. She gets on the phone and acts like she can't hear me and then hangs up on me. So pissed right now! I'm usually a pretty patient and understanding person but my patience has ran out with them. #Kohls #dissatisfiedcustomer read more

I don't know WHAT these people are talking about. This store is gleaming, sparkling clean, with fully stocked shelves, perfectly good clothes, friendly, enthusiastic employees, and terrific prices. Oh, and TONS of free parking. I think those who wrote negative reviews don't realize how lucky they are to have this entire shopping center in their neighborhood. I'm from Berkeley, and there's nothing like this there. You have Kohl's, Trader Joe's, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Borders Books, Anna's Linens...this is a fantastic, hidden gem of a mall. Clean, contemporary, safe...I'm hooked. Oh, and at my first visit to Kohl's today I found 2 women's cotton blouses reduced from $28 to $3 each(!!!), and a shirt for my son reduced from $15 to $4. Go to Kohl's! Shop Alameda! Keep this awesome place alive! read more

Bait and switch pricing. They remove all visible pricing from the items and displays, replaced with "Buy one, get one 1/2 price" signs, and gouge you at the register. I was just there to buy my son a pair of Levi's jeans. I figured with the "BOGO 1/2 off" signs posted, it would be better to cost adverage my purchase, and buy 2 pairs, as I've been through this before. At this point I still didn't know exactly what the price will be for he initial pair, although I figured since I had been purchasing Levi's jeans since 1976, I had some idea of the value. When the kid at the register rang up my order, and I saw the first pair was $69.50, I was in disbelief that they cost as much as they did, and said "it's $70.00 for a pair of jeans", and the kid behind the register says, "they are Levi's", like I'm so out of touch with the value of clothing, that I was insulting them for suggesting that they were charging too much. As soon as I got home, went to the Internet to clarify what I already knew. Depending on the style, you can purchase Levi's jeans from anywhere for about 1/2 the amount Kohl's charges. For example, both pairs af jeans cost me about $105.00 before sales tax, I could have made the same purchase at the Levi's store for about $70.00, or less, depending if they were on sale. From this point forward, I will not be shopping at Kohl's for any reason, as there is no way of knowing what you will be paying until it's too late, and ultimately, it costs on an adverage 35% more to shop there. read more

I usually like shopping at Kohls but my experience on Kohls.com has turned me off. I waited for a black Friday purchase that was supposed to be available Nov. 20th. The advertised price for a Christmas tree (page 24 of the black Friday booklet) was $79.99. However when I clicked to purchase the price is 149.99. I even called customer service and was told it was $149.99and not the advertised price of 79.99 a big difference. I was interested because of these and price. I felt this was a trick and false advertising. read more

I live near this location and have a CC with them. I often get great service at this location but about 2 wks ago I was in there and encountered the worst customer service experience ever! I work in retail and know how important it is to get great surveys. It is very hard to get someone to write a positive review but people are more inclined to write a complaint because that's just human nature---we need to be heard when we are upset. I was shopping for shoes for my daughter and couldn't find a size. I saw an associate assisting another customer in the shoes department. I approached her to ask simply if they keep any stock in the back. Because she was with another customer, I waited for them to finish. This associate, named Roslyn turns to me and snaps "can I help you?" Holding up the shoe, I asked "do you have back stock of shoes? I need a size." She snaps back, "don't got that one in the back". I'm glad you know your product so well, but speak to me in a professional manner! She acted as if I was bothering her. This is your job, maybe someone should explain to her her job responsibilities. read more

I was trying to get a raincheck for a pair of shoes that were on sale, the problem was there was no box, which meant no code. I was referred to Customer Service, the associate, Lydia went out of her way to try and locate the needed information. After checking with Kohl's on-line and being told they were not in stock, Lydia called another store and located the shoes for me. Great customer service and done with a smile. read more

1st time there on 5/27/09, why are there no price tags on or around their merchandise? I found several things I was interested in, however, Kohl's wants you to guess the price? I'm not a big fan of the Price is Right and due to no price tags I am not a fan of Kohl's. I will not be going back. It's a shame they have some good stuff there. read more

I decided to go try on couple of pairs of cheap jeans one day there and the store was absolutely disgusting. It smelled bad, and the dressing room actually had a giant puddle of urine in it! Like someone's kid didn't know better and went right there on the floor and no one did anything to clean it up. A lot of the clothes had rips and holes in them. Probably from being tossed all over the floor. This place is a mess. Be sure to check your merchandise over before you pay. read more

Very clean store. The service is great. The store has a a great selection of clothes. Great layout.

Kholes is a water down version of Macys! This Kholes has a small selection on just about everything and the staff was not available. Nice once I got help but obviously understaffed for sure. I came back to return a pack of under ware that I had mistaken for my size and just because it didn't want to exchange they wouldn't honor the refund. I even told them I would take store credit but they said without the receipt they could not do anything for me. Sucks! read more

My expectations were fairly low (e.g Ross in Emeryvillelength of lines, level of service, and organization) based on the other reviews. I was looking for jeans for my 15 year old son and if possible, dorm room items for my daughter. We got 2 pairs of jeans and 2 shirts for $71 dollars (including discount for new credit card) and there was only one customer ahead of me in line. Much better than I expected, even though the selection of dorm-type sheets was not great. read more

Shopped at Kohl's yesterday and I must say wow!! And not in a good way. Never in my life have I shopped at a store and saw a manager talk down to a customer, its like who ruined your day lady. If you don't have the item on the floor then take it off the floor, don't keep it on the floor and not only that but put a price tag on the floor model. Just to turn around and get mad at the lady because she wants to buy the floor model because clearly it HAD A PRICE TAG ON IT. I rather go way outta town than to deal with a manager like that. I was told her name was Kathy from an employee, shame on you Kathy. Don't like you job quit, that simple. read more

First of all let me start by saying that "Julie" in the Customer Service dept. is the most professional and experienced employee I have had the pleasure of conducting business with at all the Kohl's stores I have shopped at throughout the bay area. I love Kohl's for their awesome variety and sales. I mostly shop online but love to shop in the stores when time will permit. I lived closer to the San Leandro Bayfair store but I just get negative attitudes from the Customer Service desk most of the time and the Manager there is not any better with (HER) attitude about returns or exchanges. She actually wanted me to go home and look through my banking and bank statements to see about a return that I had ordered online and had the receipt along with my Kohl's credit card that was as plain as day but the register for some reason wouldn't accept. I was fed up with incompetence and willingness to help and their willingness to go over and beyond the call of duty to help a paying customer so I went to Alameda and the same thing occurred. The difference was exceptional because "Julie" was working there and had the patience and courtesy to let me explain and took it to the next level of overriding it and putting the money back on my credit card where it belonged. Awesome is what she is and the store is so pleasant unlike Bayfair where their attitudes need adjustments to remember without us customers there would be no store or need for them. Shout out to Alameda and "Julie" in Customer Service. Thank you for always making my shopping experiences memorable and pleasurable. read more

I DID NOT HAVE A CHOICE, BUT IN FACT I CAN SAY THAT I GIVE THIS STORE A MINUS CERO STARS -0-0-0-0-0-0. I don't give even one star to the racists, proponent managers and attendant of this store in South Shoreline. I was humiliated bad treated, bad spoken to and treated like garbage. They make me feel that I was stealing something and that I was a liar. There are two so called managers, who when the staff asked them something I was requesting, the bitter lady screamed that "she is in her coffee break" and after she began shouting through the walky talky. It was so sad seeing a Latino girl using bad language to an old man who apparently was her boss at the store, sadly in front of the clients that were entering the store. The treatment receive by this two individuals was worst than I could ever receive in any country I lived in. It feels that I was in a common street market. There was a old man that also was called "Manager"that as soon as I saw him, I felt that he was going to tell me to get out the store only because I have dark skin and I have an accent; but he did it with his disregard treatment. They believe that they are doing a good job, but what they are doing is DESTROYING and UNDERMINING the reputation of that company, which I assume it does NOT give training to them on important subjects like public relations, good manners, good client service's practices whatsoever and a little bit of culture and geography. I saw them threatening another person, with disdain and disrespect.. I am so sorry for KOHL'S, it used to be a good store with good employes, and now with this kind of ugly people, they going to the drains, like JC Penny and Sears, but in this case, due to the bad persons it employs. Pety, pety, pety to employ people like this. I guess it is time to cancel my account. Bad people, bad manners!!! read more

this is an ok store, but you have to know what you are buying. most of what is sold is Chinese junk, but that is prevalent everywhere. what ticked me off is I wrote a one-star review for a particularly bad item I purchased 3x before they got it right AND THEY DELETED MY REVIEW! Kohls stated it was the only review and they rejected mine for that reason. WHAT ?????? that's the kind of folks they are. read more

For those who don't realize it, if you book on Kohls.com from the Pacific or Mountain time zones and want to use any coupons or Kohls Cash, you must book by 10 pm or 11 pm respectively since Kohls computer is in Central Time Zone. I recently started making a purchase at around 9 pm CA time. First, it wouldn't take my password, then I had problems with the site, and then it wouldn't take my coupon. I tried for about an hour, and finally decided to complete the order and call the next day. They agreed to apply the coupon. The next day I realized I should have received $20 Kohls Cash. They refused that because the purchase order was timed at 10:04 pm CA time. They said it was posted on their website about the time zone, but I couldn't find it. They eventually sent me the link. Who would ever take the time to find that info. This is the only company I know that use their computer location as the cut off time of sales and specials. read more

REALLY BAD SERVICE! He said oh well, call back. I called back, told the gal what happened she says that was the right dept and she will make sure he'll help me. Transfers me again, waited on hold for 5 min and 49 sec. I hung up and called back and this time I asked for a manager and asked the gal how long is the wait for the manager, she said she's not sure. I told her this was my 3rd time calling and no one had answered yet, she didnt apologize, she just said she'll make sure someone will answer and puts me on hold again! well. the phone just rang and rang, I waited a few more minutes, no one answered. I hung up. So disgusted. read more
