Amazing food. My husband is a big fan of the beef bulgogi box. I get the veggie bibimbap. I prefer their Korean food to their sushi. Some of their "fancier" sushis have a heavy sauce on them, that I'm not a big fan of. But all of their food is great value and delicious. read more

This place looks like nothing special from the outside...I met a friend for lunch here on a Friday afternoon and when I pulled up thought, next, but she raved about it so in I went. Sooo glad I did. I got the lunch box with Chicken Teriyaki with the Hurricane Roll. The lunch box includes a soup, salad, a few fried things (shrimp, onion ring, carrot), rice, the chicken and orange slice (I think that is it but, there could be one more thing). Anyways, I got two salads instead of the soup since I was not a fan. The Hurricane roll is phenomenal and I can't say enough about it. I think the price is rather reasonable...$20/each with tip and a drink. You get more than enough food too. I have made this a spot that I must stop in at at least once a month (and I live about 35 mins from the location). Seating is limited so try to get there early. The only problem is the lunch box is only available M-F during lunch hours. I think they have something similar at dinner time but it is more expensive. Too bad it is not available on the weekends or it might be a regular stop for me. read more

This sushi place had one of the best sushi I have ever tried. I don't eat raw rolls that often but at Kodori I can eat it for days. The waiter I had recommended the black dragon roll, which ended up being my favorite roll on the menu. They have other food on the menu but I can only speak for the rolls. This used to be a great sushi and Korean food spot! We knew something was wrong when we got there at 8 pm and it was empty on a normally packed night. But things have changed for the worst. Gone are the friendly servers and cooks. I'm guessing new mgt. Everyone there looks lost and the new server continuously messes up orders because she can't understand English. Practically inedible. Ordered takeout sushi rolls the other night and it was awful! Rice was so bland, no vinegar, no salt. Spicy tuna used to be good, but not anymore. Tempura was terrible - could barely see shrimp in any of the pieces, it was over cooked and tasted like old French fries with some gross mayonaisey mushy mess in it, kinda like tasteless coleslaw. And I love mayo but this was just wrong. So bad. California rolls were sooo skimpy - thin slice of avocado and half the peices had no crab - what crab was there was smaller than an eraser in size. I've never not eaten my rolls but this was worse than grocery store sushi, stopped less than halfway through. Just gross. Went here once a year ago and thought the it was okay even though the tempura was disappointing, but wow it's awful now. Need a new chef!! Though I doubt we'll be back. read more

Recently went to Kodori this past weekend after many people recommended it. It's a small place inside with maybe 10 tables tops, it's nothing fancy or new but those tend to be the best places. We ordered the veggie roll, shrimp tempura roll, tuna roll and I forget the last one but we were happy with every roll! The miso soup and salad were also good. Prices are comparable to most sushi joints. The owner was pleasant and overall definitely going back. read more

My Boyfriend and I just moved out to Fort Washington from Alexandria, and we quickly fealized there is very little food culture here. While exploring Waldorf, we stumbled across this place that had pretty decent reviews. It was not bad!!! I had the Galbi Bibimbap, it was tasty, had a good sized meat portion and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We had 2 sushi rolls that were average. Tasty but nothing extraordinary. I'm going through suburbia rejection since moving to the Dorf. All of my favorite spots are either in upper MD or DC. I was pressed to find a sushi spot after visiting the local Japanese steakhouse I was sad to think, I would not be able to get my fix. Until I came on Yelp and discovered this place. I called the place on a Friday around 9:30ish to see what time they closed and they told me they were closing now. I got super depressed because I'm like, where they do that at? Anyhoo, the next week, by 8PM we were ready to hit it. We got there and it was in a strip mall next to a paint shop. I didn't get discouraged because I trusted my fellow yelpers. We went it and the place is really small, only a couple of tables and a small sushi bar. We sat at the sushi bar order a couple of drinks and looked through the menu. I like seeing the specialty rolls of new places and trying them out. We ordered a few of our fav and a few of the specialties and they knocked them all out of the park. Our favs are the Raven's roll, the Redskin's roll (I didn't tell DH this was the name because he would of spit it out), and the Devil Roll. I also LOVE the beef lettuce wraps and the spicy seafood noodles. We are now regulars at this spot and we forgot our credit card and they let us put it on our tab! Wow. A tab, only in the Dorf. We had this place bookmarked to try forever. We love sushi, and we were really hoping to find a good place on the Maryland side of the bridge, but alas, the quest continues. I don't understand all of the high marks for this place. I agree with the reviewer below who said it's filthy and dirty. The floor is actually sticky enough that you can hear the wait staff walking around. If it's dirty out there...you know it's dirty in the kitchen. It was a dive, but I was willing to give it a try. We had sushi (which is why we went there). It took a while to get menus, and they were dirty when we got them. The menus were also dirty. The server came by to take our drink order, and before I could finish my sentence (I was in the middle of ordering an appetizer), he'd walked away! When he returned his attitude was a little clipped and I felt rushed, like he was doing me a favor by taking my order. I tried again to order the octopus salad, but they were out of it, so we tried the avocado and salmon salad and several items off of the sushi list. They brought out Miso soup, garden salad with ginger dressing, and kimchi - all free. That was all very good, and we enjoyed it. The salmon and avocado salad was drowning in some kind of honey mustard dressing. I've definitely had better, but I think my husband liked it okay. We had the Red Dragon Roll, the spinach roll, the Rock 'n' Roll, the Rainbow Roll, and another maki roll (can't remember now). I thought they were all over-sauced and a little wet. The specialty rolls were very thin. I also thought that the wasabi was bland. I noticed that the sushi chefs barely looked like they were out of high school and had long hair that wasn't held back with hair nets. The hot tea was good and there was plenty of it. Price-wise, the bill was reasonable. Overall, I might order sushi from here to go, but I wouldn't eat in the store again. Just a note: Below, someone calls this place "cute and cozy." It's cute like a piranha is cute and cozy like a warehouse is cozy. Let's just say, if you wanted to wear a thong bikini to dinner here, you'd be overdressed. I especially like the fact that they are only there when you need them. The wife and I have eaten here about one to two times a month for 3+ years. I haven't ventured into the Korean half of the menu yet. + They serve sake by the teapot. I must edit my previous review. Mr Kim has been back for awhile and his sushi is just as good as ever. This is the ONLY place around where you actually get spicy when you order a spicy tuna, salmon or crab roll. I'm not sure why so many other places feel the need to use mostly mayo with very little sriracha, but Mr Kim strikes the best balance of any other in the area. My last visit compelled me to order the Sashimi Donburi. The fish was beautiful in color, fresh and tasted amazing. My only complaint was that I wished the sushi rice had been more seasoned; however, this complaint is more personal preference than anything. Gone are all of the issues of poorly made sushi and daytime talk shows. The As long as Mr Kim stays I'll continue to visit. read more

Kodori is decent "suburban" sushi. If you've lived in the city or a heavily populated area where restaurants actually have competition and need to be top-notch, you will be disappointed. The sushi was ok. I had a shrimp tempura roll and the spicy crab roll. I also had a ginger salad which was a bowl of iceberg lettuce (maybe one full leaf chopped up) drenched in ginger dressing. I was looking for a bit more color (carrots, tomatoes, etc). Not quite a fan. The miso soup was too salty. Overall, nothing to rave about. The service was quick (I visited on a Sunday night around 7pm, an hour before closing), and the staff members were super friendly. I hate to say this but if you're cultured you probably won't enjoy this as much. They need a competitor. I love to support small businesses and the dreams of others so I'm happy I stopped by but it's not on the top of my list to return. read more

Had a hungry party of 4. One person in our group had been here before and suggested it. This place was PACKED. Which was a good sign, but no Asian people which was not. We were probably the only ones that had an Asian person at our table which is usually a red flag in my personal opinion. We ordered: Variety of Special Rolls Variety of Nigiri Combination Sashimi Platter The sushi menu had a good amount of options, although I felt the Korean options were limited which was a bummer. I ended up going with the Korean Style Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup, which was actually Udon, not the traditional noodles. While this combination was good, I would have preferred the more traditional. A lot of the patrons seemed to enjoy the Korean BBQ they offered. I don't typically like to order this unless I can cook at my table, only because I am particular about how my meat is cooked. The sushi was decent. The Sashimi tasted decent, and when rolled up tasted better. Which is not a good sign to me. Because they were so busy, it took us an hour and half to get our sushi. Then they had forgotten my soup, and that fortunately only took another 15 minutes to whip up. The prices were average, and the service was decent but not great enough to return. Would I return? No... just because I would rather spend the same amount of money or even less, and just drive out to a place I normally frequent. read more

Mr. Kim's Restaurant is a wonderful, quiet place to enjoy unusual sushi. His very generous sized special rolls are to die for. Two of his rolls must be mentioned for they are my favorites. The Kodori roll with it's soft shell crab is a meal in it self, but if you are into a challenge you must brave the, PAIN IN THE BUTT roll, make sure your drink is full. read more

It is very small inside so I haven't been back but decided to do a pick up. I tried the Kim roll this time & 2 salmon nigiris....YUM. Sushi...in....Waldorf?! Hold the phone! So, I discovered Kodori after doing a Yelp search for "Sushi" in Waldorf. I noticed that no one gave this place less than four stars, so I said, "what the heck, I'll give it a shot." I was fully expecting mediocrity. What I got was pleasantly surprising, fantastically delicious and authentic! I don't quite remember which two rolls my friend and I had as she ordered them. I couldn't make up my mind. But, they were again, surprisingly yummy! I will say that I would like to see more variety (less fried elements) in the sushi options. Maybe something topped with crab salad and a few more roe-topped options. I had the bulgogi and the beef was sweet and tender and scrumptious. After the miso, ginger-dressing salad and sushi I was full. But, either the bulgogi was that good or I'm a greedy pig (both are possible, especially with Asian fare). I'm going back as soon as I can. For a small place, it's pretty good. When we came in, I was like...oh wow it's like a little eatery in Asia with the alcoholic beverage and female model posters on the wall. The service was prompt. The servers were nice and friendly. The food we ordered was good. The free miso soup was just right... not too salty, but it made me wonder if it was instant miso soup... Coz it seemed like it. The free salad was drenched in dressing making it all soupy. The kimchi... I'm not an expert on how the kimchi should be, but the one they had...I wasn't that impressed. This was my first time here and I really enjoyed the food. The staff was friendly and the sushi was fresh. Mary was very helpful in helping my novice hubby pick out food he would like and he thoroughly enjoyed it all. I will say the atmosphere was a bit surprising. This is not a classy or cozy joint at all. If you are cool with that and just want some good sushi, then this is the place for you. The setting is in a strip mall area and the restaurant itself is set up just like a Chinese carry-out. The music was a local rock station and people continued to come in and out to pick up their carry-out food. I am so glad I found a local place in Southern MD and saved a trip and the aggravation of driving to VA. read more
