Eel sushi and Waldorf sushi! So good!

Friendly staff and great food! The lunch deals are wonderful and come with plenty of food to fill you up. The eel and Waldorf sushi were so delicious. Definitely coming back!

Yaki Gyoza Dinner
Sarah C.

I came to Kodori a month ago with some co-workers for dinner. Upon first appearance, it looked closed because of the empty parking lot and tinted windows, yet there was an "Open" neon sign. Upon entering, it was empty, with a small space for seating. The waitress didn't seem happy to see us and came off as annoyed as we were giving her our orders.  It took a while for the food to come out. I think it was because they had Doordash/UberEats orders to go through. I wanted to order something simple and got the Yaki Gyoza Dinner which comes with 9 dumplings and rice. My other coworkers, 4 of them, got sushi and Dolsot Bi-Bim-Bop, but were able to get their food before me. I waited a while and got my dumplings as they were finishing up their meals.  The Gyoza was good. Tasty interior and crispy exterior. My coworkers said they enjoyed their meals and wouldn't mind coming back. I think for Kodori, it'd be best to get takeout because they seem to prioritize those over dine-in guests. All in all, the restaurant was clean, food was good, but service could've been better.

Stopped here for a lil lunch date one day we both had morning off. Super friendly staff who quickly greeted us and let us pick our own table. We started with a roll and some edamame, and some house sides were brought over. We also enjoyed kalbi and bulgolgi for entrees. Definitely worth the small travel for us to come here. I will 1000000% be back for the great marinated beef and pork. The gyoza was insanely good. We had the steamed pork ones. Sauce was so delicious! Will be back soon! Jake n kev

The place is small, we were helped immediately & the food came out in good time too. Everything was tasty, will definitely go again!

***DISCLAIMER: Im a sushi newbie*** Wanted sushi and didn't want to drive into the city. My homegirl swears by this place so I decided to check it out. I placed an order for carry out and was in and out within 20 mins. The inside is pretty small, seating roughly 20 people, 25 if you include the sushi bar. If you place a carry out order on a busy day you'd probably have to sit in your car. I ordered: Beef Bulgogi - 10/10 - the texture and flavor is amazing. The beef is sweet and perfectly paired with the bitter bite of the carrot and onion. The plain rice great for soaking up the sauce the bulgogi sits in and adds a nice balance if you feel the dish is too rich. They also give you kimchi and pickled cucumbers which added additional layers to the dish overall. It was my first time trying kimchi and I'm not sure what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. It was spicy and sour but not in an off putting way. I added it to a bite with the bulgogi, rice and cucumber and my taste buds were in heaven. Kodori Roll - soft shell & deep-fried crab, sp mayo, Inside / fresh tuna, salmon, eel, sp mayo top - today is Sunday, I was there yesterday, and if they weren't closed I'd be there today getting another roll. The soft shell & deep fried crab was the perfect contrast to the raw salmon on top. You get the fresh flavors from the tuna, salmon and eel and the sp mayo doesn't over power it. I added eel sauce to mine and finished this roll within 10 minutes. This place is located 5mins from my son's barber shop so I'm excited to have a reason to go :). I will be back.

OMG!! So I wanted some sushi. I love sushi! It's a hole in the wall like other reviews mentioned, but I enjoyed myself. The food was great and came so quick! It almost shocked me. I was like, "Oh wait, maybe I ordered too much. I was out there during lunch, so I was about to catch them during lunch time. I was going to get my food to go, but I decided to dine in. They didn't waste any time bringing out my food. Quick, hot, and GREAT!!! Everything I ordered was good. I can't wait to go back! Check it out. You will not be disappointed!

4.5 stars (for the area) It's a shame that there are such terrible reviews for this spot. I don't know why people are expecting top notch sushi in Waldorf. You have to manage your expectations to the area it is located in. Their prices aren't as high as DC or northern VA sushi spots that specialize in sushi. Think of this as a place for no frills good sushi but not a fancy sushi specific restaurant. If you go with this reasonable expectation, you will not be disappointed. Also, there are so many other options other than sushi. They changed management in the last few months, so keep that in mind. They updated the interior, and it is much nicer. It's also a quaint spot that people mainly order takeout for from what I've seen in the many times we have been. The new service staff are friendly, but the miscommunication issue that some other reviews mentioned may be due to the language barrier. It seems that English is not the first language of the service staff, so that is probably the cause. If you want home-cooked Korean food vibes, this is the place. When I miss my mom's home cooking I go here! I believe this is a small, local owned business, so let's try to be kind and respectful in our reviews. We are all trying to make a living out here in this ridiculous economy.

If you're not in the mood for sushi, the ramen is a must-try--rich, flavorful, and satisfying. The wings also stand out with a very authentic taste that you don't find just anywhere. Overall, this spot is a hidden gem with great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Against my better judgment, i shouldn't have ordered the Hawaii Roll -- the mango inside the roll gave me a bit of pause with consistency issue. Additionally, the rice on the sushi seemed gelatinous, like it was cooked too long. I didn't like it. The Tempura Roll was your standard fare. Lastly, while I love sashimi, the tuna offered with the chef's sampler was just ok. The star was the salmon -- buttery and smooth. Service was fine. We sat at the bar. Again, I wouldn't visit again, but try it for yourself. Cheers!

One of the best parts is the variety--you can choose from hotpot, or go all in with hotpot, sushi, and BBQ. I've tried all three, and they do not disappoint! The selection feels endless, which makes every visit exciting. I especially love that you get to cook your own food, even the BBQ. That's a big plus since many Korean BBQ spots cook it for you. It makes the experience more interactive and fun. The soup bases are flavorful and really elevate the whole meal. And now they've started serving alcoholic beverages too, which is a great addition! However the service is absolutely terrible and only declining. Pace yourself when you're drinking whatever drink you ordered because the chance of you catching your waiter to get another one will be almost non existent. Mostly teenagers are employed here which is good for the work experience but they are too busy on their cell phones to check on their tables. Even when the restaurant is empty you will still not receive service. You will watch your waiter pacing back and forth on their phone longer than you will spend drinking your water/soda. I used to come here once a week but the service has deterred me so much that at most I come once a month and each time I come it's getting worse and worse. I've had to pull the manager up on shift one time to ask for a simple refill because my waiter was too busy on the phone. I'm usually a great tipper, 25% or more, here I simply give 18% because most visits I sit for 30+ minutes with nothing to drink and zero way besides walking up to the waiter to get their attention since their phones are so close to their face it's touching their noses. I won't even come for dinner anymore because the price is not worth their service.

Our server immediately greeted us with a great big smile, she took our drink orders and described some of the drinks to us. We put in an order for 2 spring rolls and 2 eggs rolls which were to die for. Perfectly crunchy, crispy, and full of flavor with great dipping sauce! They came out piping hot and delicious. I also got egg drop soup which simply cannot be beat. The soup was not too thick and not too thin or watery. The green onions were fresh. The crisped wontons had just the right amount of crunch. Together the dish was savory and delightfully flavorful. Now, my guest can often be difficult to please (as food must be extremely specific), but it's not ever usually a problem that a "good restaurant" can't handle. They handled it perfectly. We got the chicken with two winter veg, no sauce or mushrooms and add water chestnuts. It came out exactly that way. Perfect. Not only perfect but steamed to perfection. I also got the chicken w winter veggies--with sauce-- which is a brown gravy. What can I say OTHER than it was also perfect!! The meat was cooked to tender, not dry. The veggies were bright and deliciously tender, but still had a gentle crunch (the ultimate dish style!). My husband got the orange chicken and the spice was absolutely divine. The orange chicken sauce was pungent and sweet. If you like heat, this one is for you!! The chicken was crispy under the layer of aromatic, REAL orange flavored sauce. My other guest got the Mandarin combination plate, which featured a host of veggies, surf and turf meats, and a spicy brown sauce on top. Again, meat and veg cooked to perfect tenderness, with the veggies snapping and crunching just enough but tender enough to enjoy. Drinks were a teapot for the table (which may have been a bit strong for my guests, but I drank it!) A coconut punch (non alcoholic), which is a virgin iced Pina Colada. I didn't expect that, but I still guzzled it down. It came in a parrot glass, too!! So fun!! The rest of the table got coke and tea and were just as good. (Yes I tried everything). And we came here because we've been seeing their really amazing TikToks and want to contribute to bringing this WONDERFUL restaurant back into the folds of the community and wrap them in support. I'd give them 10 stars if I could.
