Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by this little hole in the wall spot. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I haven't had a ton of luck at Korean/Japanese restaurants in the past. And when I say that, I mean, restaurants that don't specialize in one or the other, but actually serve both. However, I came here, wanting sushi and Gyoza and that's what I got. Added bonus was the fact that I still got the Korean bonchon and I personally love kimchi, so it was amazing. I'm not going to lie: the sushi was far better than I expected it to be. I ordered either the Monday or Wednesday lol and a spicy toner. I also ordered the beef Gyoza. In total, my bill was 26 or so dollars. The rolls were a very good size. I really liked the flavor of the special roll I got. It was a good size and tasted pretty fresh. I would definitely come back. I came to Kodori a month ago with some co-workers for dinner. Upon first appearance, it looked closed because of the empty parking lot and tinted windows, yet there was an "Open" neon sign. Upon entering, it was empty, with a small space for seating. The waitress didn't seem happy to see us and came off as annoyed as we were giving her our orders.  It took a while for the food to come out. I think it was because they had Doordash/UberEats orders to go through. I wanted to order something simple and got the Yaki Gyoza Dinner which comes with 9 dumplings and rice. My other coworkers, 4 of them, got sushi and Dolsot Bi-Bim-Bop, but were able to get their food before me. I waited a while and got my dumplings as they were finishing up their meals.  The Gyoza was good. Tasty interior and crispy exterior. My coworkers said they enjoyed their meals and wouldn't mind coming back. I think for Kodori, it'd be best to get takeout because they seem to prioritize those over dine-in guests. All in all, the restaurant was clean, food was good, but service could've been better. read more

Stopped here for a lil lunch date one day we both had morning off. Super friendly staff who quickly greeted us and let us pick our own table. We started with a roll and some edamame, and some house sides were brought over. We also enjoyed kalbi and bulgolgi for entrees. Definitely worth the small travel for us to come here. ***DISCLAIMER: Im a sushi newbie*** Wanted sushi and didn't want to drive into the city. My homegirl swears by this place so I decided to check it out. I placed an order for carry out and was in and out within 20 mins. The inside is pretty small, seating roughly 20 people, 25 if you include the sushi bar. If you place a carry out order on a busy day you'd probably have to sit in your car. I ordered: Beef Bulgogi - 10/10 - the texture and flavor is amazing. The beef is sweet and perfectly paired with the bitter bite of the carrot and onion. The plain rice great for soaking up the sauce the bulgogi sits in and adds a nice balance if you feel the dish is too rich. They also give you kimchi and pickled cucumbers which added additional layers to the dish overall. It was my first time trying kimchi and I'm not sure what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. It was spicy and sour but not in an off putting way. I added it to a bite with the bulgogi, rice and cucumber and my taste buds were in heaven. Kodori Roll - soft shell & deep-fried crab, sp mayo, Inside / fresh tuna, salmon, eel, sp mayo top - today is Sunday, I was there yesterday, and if they weren't closed I'd be there today getting another roll. The soft shell & deep fried crab was the perfect contrast to the raw salmon on top. You get the fresh flavors from the tuna, salmon and eel and the sp mayo doesn't over power it. I added eel sauce to mine and finished this roll within 10 minutes. This place is located 5mins from my son's barber shop so I'm excited to have a reason to go :). I will be back. read more

4.5 stars (for the area) It's a shame that there are such terrible reviews for this spot. I don't know why people are expecting top notch sushi in Waldorf. You have to manage your expectations to the area it is located in. Their prices aren't as high as DC or northern VA sushi spots that specialize in sushi. Think of this as a place for no frills good sushi but not a fancy sushi specific restaurant. If you go with this reasonable expectation, you will not be disappointed. Also, there are so many other options other than sushi. They changed management in the last few months, so keep that in mind. They updated the interior, and it is much nicer. It's also a quaint spot that people mainly order takeout for from what I've seen in the many times we have been. The new service staff are friendly, but the miscommunication issue that some other reviews mentioned may be due to the language barrier. It seems that English is not the first language of the service staff, so that is probably the cause. If you want home-cooked Korean food vibes, this is the place. When I miss my mom's home cooking I go here! I believe this is a small, local owned business, so let's try to be kind and respectful in our reviews. I've been passing by this place and never paid it no mind. From the outside, it doesn't look quite inviting, however the inside was quite cozy. It's a little small and intimate. The shrimp tempura roll was good and will definitely get again. The service was great as well. If you're in the area and want sushi, give them a try. It's what I expected from Korean food and sushi in Waldorf. The Korean dishes had none of the powerful flavors I associate with Korean cuisine; strangest of all was the seafood pancake, which was fluffy and a pale, eggy color instead of crispy, golden, and packed with veggies and seafood. We love sushi and unfortunately, I will never go back. I had high hopes of having a quality food option without having to travel to another county. The establishment was clean, a few tables and chairs (basic eat-in carry out setting). The service was basic, no complaints there. We ordered at the establishment for carry out. The food was bland, and didn't taste good (multiple rolls, gyoza, soup, and a few more things); our rolls fell apart. Everything felt like it was just thrown together. The bulgogi got a "decent" rating from a VERY picky man, who said he *would* eat it again because it was tasty-ish, filling and reasonably priced. That's high praise, coming from him. The place itself is small, and much cleaner and refreshed inside than the tired exterior would have you believe. Chairs are sturdy without arms, so wide backsides are well supported. I don't think a wheelchair could navigate between the tables, but a wide person can easily fit. Small cute little place, I think most people come for takeout. I have been here a couple time and they are always good. My family and I sat in and our waitress was on it! She checked in often got our miso soups, sushis, and entrees out quickly. I ordered the eel roll box and it was really good. All of the tempura was delicious, and the orange was a good palet cleanser. My family said their meals were good as well. They are currently only offering takeout due to Covid-19. We ordered the following: gyoza soup appetizer, miso soup, squid salad, spicy tuna roll, hurricane roll (added avocado), rock and roll sushi roll. Packaging was fantastic-very thoughtfully done. Huge plus for us, especially when ordering hot and cold dishes, and liquids like soups. Before we placed the order, they informed us it was a very busy night for them, so any sushi would take about an hour. I was really happy they told us this right away, so we could make the decision to order from somewhere else if we were in a hurry. Luckily we weren't, and we wanted to try this place, so we went ahead and placed the order! The soups were good, we liked the gyoza broth and noodles a lot. I actually wasn't a huge fan of the gyoza's filling myself, but my friend enjoyed it a lot. The miso soup was good, nothing special there. The squid salad was realllly good, I think that was my favorite thing. The spicy tuna rolls were good, had a little kick at the end. The specialty rolls we ordered were the hurricane (added avocado) and the rock and roll. We liked them both, but thought they weren't as spectacular as described. My rating is based solely on a lie that was made to me by the sushi chef. People please stay away from any sushi restaurants that uses the term white tuna or white fish. I only notice these terms in predominantly black or low income areas. There's no such thing as white tuna. Please do your research so that you are aware of what you are consuming. I get tired of going to DC or Virginia when I want sushi. I decided to stop here on my way home the other day to give it a try. When I saw the term on the menu, I specifically asked the chef if the white tuna is Hamachi. He replied that is correct. However, when I got home, it was not Hamachi. This had a tan, slightly brownish hue and is actually called Escolar. While is can be legally sold on the menu as Sushi, it can have unpleasant side effects. What is illegal is lying about what I'm being served if I ask directly. Shame on you. read more

Ordered take out the first time, the food was warm so i heated it. The next time I dined in. The food is oddly warm not hot, even the rice and I ordered food not sushi. The salad was warm. The shrimp tempura was not as hot as it should be if it was just deep fried. There are cold and hot water containers and a bucket with ice in it on table, no machines. My best friend took me here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon since pretty much almost all of my southern MD friends rave about this place so I finally got a chance to try it out. It definitely is a smaller space and I was honestly a little surprised at how high some of the prices were based on the location. I would say that this place is very average. I was looking forward to eating here because of all the good reviews, but after actually eating here, I don't think this would be my first choice. Unfortunately, it is one of the only sushi places in the area. The sushi is pricey for the amount and quality you get - the rolls are soooo small for $10+ a roll and the flavors are very bland. The teriyaki chicken is also not what we had expected - basically boiled chicken and a few veggies in a watery base (not like teriyaki sauce consistency).
