Think food court, this area of the MGM may be a food court like area, yet after the horrid meal I had at Taps at the resort, I was not eating there again. As we were walking by and reading the menu, the sushi chef greeted us and and offered us a seat at the sushi bar. Somehow, this is one of my favorite sushi places in NoVA. Despite being located in MGM, the price is pretty standard and not as overpriced as you think. You can either take it to go or eat at the sushi bar in front of the sushi chefs. My two favorite things to order is the Chirashi Bowl ($24) and Eel Bowl ($19). The Chirashi Bowl comes with 9 cuts of fish (3 salmon, 3 tuna, and 3 yellowtail) with sushi rice, seaweed salad, pickled ginger and wasabi. You can even customize your Bowl, so I always get all 9 pieces of salmon or 6 salmons and 3 tunas. All the sashimis are thick cuts so you definitely getting your money worth.The salmon is the MVP of the dish, it's has a perfect amount of fat to bring out the flavor. Tuna is second and yellow tail Is my least favorite. The Eel Bowl is another favorite dish because they give you the whole eel which is oven baked and served with avocado. The eel is very tender and flavorful and applied with the perfect amount of eel sauce. Overall, this is my go-to restaurant when I'm the area. Taste: 5/5 -Highly Reccomend Chirashi and Eel Bowl. One of the worst Sushi bar that I have been and at the MGM even. I thought MGM would select their vendors a little better. The so call Sushi Chef doesn't even know how to cut fish. The hamachi sashimi came out in chunks instead of pieces. The salmon and tuna pieces were not cut through. The tuna sashimi was so bad that you can't chew on them. Before you eat eat here, it is important to know that they serve those seated at the bar. It made sense to me. There is tremendous foot traffic. Every stand was overwhelmed by super long lines. We spent about 30 minutes searching throughout MGM for a restaurant or a counter-service place in the Market. I've also never seen prices this high for a food court. Bento said they had a 30-minute wait for food ordered from the menu, so I decided to buy the pre-packed sushi at the Bento counter. That took at least 20 minutes, standing in line. They had too few staff, and they weren't moving with a sense of urgency. There were only a couple of people ahead of me when I got in line, but the cashier was handling multiple roles, so we mostly just waited. My husband did the same for a slice of pizza. Then, we couldn't find a place to sit for a while. Every bathroom in the place also had crazy-long lines. I had hoped for a nice meal that evening. What I got instead was like eating at the airport on the day before Thanksgiving - both in terms of price and chaos. Never again! read more

I have to say that this was quite a surprise. We came here right before they closed and they were still able to get our order in. It took a minute because there were other people ordering online (Note to self- if you don't want to wait, put your order in inline for pick-up). They did give us our miso soup and seaweed salad first so we munched on those. The soup was hot and had plenty of tofu. The seaweed salad was very refreshing. I had the Unagi bowl which was surprisingly a big portion considering their rolls weren't as big. It was good my husband ordered two rolls, spicy tuna and california roll. The spicy tuna was good but the california roll was just amazing! They had real crab meat in the roll and not just the imitation crab so it was definitely a nice surprise. I came by Bento while walking towards the casino and saw the display of sushi. I was drawn by how fresh the sushi looked, but once we sat down, I was pretty disappointed. There isn't a lot of seating since it is just the sushi bar, but when we asked the chef for water, he told us that they only had Fiji bottles. Mind you, these bottles cost $5, so we respectfully declined. But after it appeared like we were going to order food, he gave us cups of free water... so he lied to us. Not cool. For food, Bento has hand rolls, bowls and burritos. When I saw the burritos, I thought the hefty ones packed with rice, fish and veggies, but these burritos are actually typical sushi rolls. $15 for a "burrito" that can be cut up into a 10 piece sushi roll is kind of ridiculous, but we are at the MGM casino. We decided to split the crab and yellowtail "burritos," which were actually pretty good. The Serrano peppers in the yellowtail burrito will creep up on you, so be careful.
