Enjoyed their brunch last year so had to come back to try their dinner and so glad we did. We grabbed a 5pm dinner reservation on a weekend for which we arrived a few minutes early before open. After checking in we waited till open before being brought to our table. Service was excellent and very prompt without being overbearing. If you needed something, someone was always ready to help. The course menu was excellent. I enjoyed everything but the bibimbap was special. Possibly the best I've had. Really great flavors across the board and enjoyed their spin on Korean dishes. Smaller spot but the layout is well done so that it doesn't actually feel crowded. Intimate lighting which is perfect for dates or small groups. Highly recommended.

Family took me out to this place for my wrapping up my decade and really, it was absolutely amazing. 97/100. The only flaw i found was their bathroom was too tiny. We did chef's menu ($145) and my brother in law added wine tasting. ALL the food that I had was creative, flavorful, and cooked to its perfection with fresh ingredients. Food is solid 5/5. Their bibimbap and the first course (pine nuts and tofu) were bomb and I highly recommend adding sea urchin to the bibimbap. In terms of food, I think they deserve more than one star Some michelin restaurants pay a bit more attention to customer experience (eg Eleven Madison takes notes w each customer's preference and gives out goodies after dining), and if Kochi can master this area too, it has potential to get three stars Really, really solid food - I'll definitely come

Great service and friendly staff. Waiter very nice, attentive and pleasant. Outdoor seating was a little cold this evening. Heaters not doing enough (10 degrees tonight) and outdoor Seating could be more comfortable. 8 course meal was delicious. Some courses stole the show for us like the halibut and desserts !!! The mushroom soup was served just about cold so that was a let down. Drinks were delicious. Hot tea was excellent. Pricing fair this caliber of dinner. Will return to try some new tasting menus.

Awesome, intimate experience with modern Korean cuisine. Went for a weekday dinner - was sat immediately (had an RSVP). Seating was at the counter with the open kitchen - nice vibe - especially when it's not a hectic kitchen. Ordered a few cocktails - all very delicious, not sweet but not super boozy either. The tasting menu was legit also. Would def come back.

Kochi is a Michelin-starred restaurant serving elevated Korean dishes via a tasting menu. I spent a celebratory meal here and had a great time! -Started off the white asparagus soup which reminded me of the Cantonese cream soups I had growing up. I liked the addition of microgreens to complement the asparagus and creaminess. -The hwe was fresh. The halibut was super tender and melted off the stick. While I liked the addition of caviar to the fish itself, it didn't quite seem to match the entire dish because it involved a seafood broth which was very tasty itself with its umami flavor. -The octopus was super tender; I liked the mix of gochujang on the octopus with the curry aioli. -The chef's special abalone was very tasty. It was super tender, chewy, and complemented the yuzu foam better by itself instead of with the shrimp cake (so I ended up separating the two). -The duck was tender and very well seasoned with a crispy skin. The accompanying banchans were solid. -The bibimap featured fresh tuna, although I think the ratio of rice to veggies was a little low for me. The addition of uni did bring out more umami flavors! -For dessert, the tangerine sorbet was a little too tangy for me so I preferred their banana milk parfait. I'm not a huge fan of bananas and was glad that the fruit flavors were more subtle. The texture was more milky, almost like a more solidified frozen yogurt. -For drinks, the mulberry tea highball is perfect for tea-lovers like me because it really has that strong bitter tea flavor with a subtle alcohol taste. It was fun to sit by the counter to watch the chefs prepare all the dishes. The pacing between courses was appropriate. Staff were polite, but I just wish they told us about the wine pairing from the get-go instead of waiting for the food menu so we could plan our meal/drinks. Overall I really enjoyed this tasting menu but nothing really stood out for me to rank them above other Korean fine dining restaurants. I would be interested in returning to check out any new dishes!

1st course. It was a mushroom soup.

My first Michelin Star restaurant experience. While Kochi was very good overall I'm not sure if it necessarily was an absolute standout. Maybe I was expecting a little too much? I guess a restaurant with a Michelin Star will do that. The first thing you will notice is that the restaurant is very small. It is NYC so you will be sitting very close to other people. No worries though ill use adjectives like Cozy and Intimate for the interior. I did like the overall ambiance though. They have a open kitchen so you can see the ridiculous amount of chefs and sous chefs they need to make this entire operation happen. This is only a chefs tasting menu so you cant deviate too much from the script other than the upgrades like A5 Wagyu. I dont really do upgrades so we went absolutely standard. I liked the food and service overall. With these types of restaurants they tend tend be a little more adventurous. I think some dishes I really really enjoyed like the fish on a stick and banana milk dessert. And some things were a little too far from the norms of Korean food then im used to. Not that it was a bad thing. I thought the bibimbap was very good but a little too creamy. And the duck was a maybe a bit dry. Service overall worked very hard but wasnt a standout to me for this level of restaurant. There were times when the course timing was a little off and we had to wait a little too long in between dishes. Overall a really good experience for a one off but not totally sure if I would come back for another run... I am willing to try the sister restaurant to Kochi. Mari. Happy Eatings everyone.

Kochi is a sister restaurant of Mari. We were lucky to get a reservation here as a group of 4 just a week out in advance in mid December, though we were seated in an outdoor patio with space heaters. We ordered the tasting menu, abalone to start, and drinks. They had just switched the menu so we enjoyed some elements of surprise. From the tasting menu, the bass fish and American wagyu stood out the most. The halibut was so tender, and the flavoring effectively brought out the freshness of the fish. But the wagyu was actually out of the world--it just melted in our mouths! I also loved one of the desserts, caramel corn ice cream. As small as the puff sorghum was, it was a great complement to the texture of the ice cream and sweetness of the caramel. We had so much fun bantering with the waiters as well. They were personable and down to earth, one of the highlights of our dining experience. I would recommend dining here!

Sooo good! Too notch Korean food. Excellent service. Each course was timed well. The place is small and quaint. You can be more casual here.

If you're looking for a fine dining place to bring your picky asian father to, then Kochi is the place to be! It's not too long of a meal (it's 2 hours maximum), stays true to its Korean roots while having enough of a unique twist, and is casual enough that you don't have to force your dad out of his sneakers and jeans. It's actually my second time back at Kochi, and they still managed to exceed my expectations! One of the reasons why I went back was because their wine/alcohol pairing menu was reasonable: it's a mix of wine, soju, makgeolli, and sake, which complements their set menu nicely. The variety is hard to come by, and is a welcome change to a scene that usually only serves wine. Another reason why I came back was because the food was delicious. Kochi somehow manages to elevate Korean cuisine without making it obnoxiously elaborate, or distorting it to the point where it strays from its Korean. Each dish is presented beautifully, but without the pomp and stuffiness one usually feels at a fine dining spot. They manage to curate a truly phenomenal menu while maintaining a more homey, casual ambiance. For this menu, my favorite was the mushroom soup at the beginning, which was a nice blend of creaminess, umami, and sweetness! The hwe, with the tender scallop and kimchi was such a refreshing combo too. My dad's favorite was the tangerine sorbet, which he even asked for seconds (and got, free of charge, thank you!). My mom really enjoyed the octopus twigim and the halibut. Throughout the meal, the waiters/waitresses were also super knowledgable and accommodating. They all know each table's progression in the menu, so they all help out in serving and presenting each dish. They're like a seamless team, it's really cool to see! All in all, Kochi is a great restaurant to take your asian parents too! Definitely check them out, you won't regret it!!

A restaurant with a former Michelin star, Kochi sits on the corner of 47th and 10th avenue. Like its sister restaurant, Mari, Kochi offers a seasonal tasting menu in Korean cuisine with a recommended wine pairing for those who opt in. The food is delicate, elegant and prepared with soft precision. Despite all that, it fails to capture the same decadence as Mari does. Taste: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value for money: 2.5/5 We had the tasting menu which was: 1. Mushroom soup - the soup was good, but the mushroom cracker had an interesting bite to it that made you feel like you were chewing cotton candy - 3/5 2. Hwe - Hokkaido scallop and kimchi, the scallop tasted fresh, but felt like it didnt need the dress - 2/5 3. Halibut - consommé, bean sprout and mustard greens - poached well - 4/5 4. Octopus Twigim - had good texture, wish there was more octopus - 4/5 5. American Wagyu - A main course done right, cooked perfectly 5/5 6. Jongga Bibimbap - felt like a quinoa salad - 3.5/5 7. Hwachae - imagine a fruit salad gourmet, this is it - 3/5 8. Banana Milk - banana parfait, soy caramel, banana compote, dried garnishes - in order for a tasting menu to be good, you need to end on a strong note. This dessert was it. It came across as an ice cream with a soft interior but a crunchy exterior. 4.5/5 Overall some hits some misses, a good experience overall but not sure if I'd come back.

    Our main entree was delicious.

Finally got to celebrate my soulmate's special day. Kochi has a tight dining room, where you need to squeeze yourself out if your sitting in the inside seat. They have excellent service and a great chef's signature tasting menu. After we snapped a few photos, a guy ran out from the back to tell us, "no flash photography." Aside from certain broadway shows and concerts, I don't think I've ever been told that before. Aside from that, we had a wonderful experience. They were kind enough to add a special dessert for the celebration. I would definitely come back again.

An accessible Michelin star tasting menu with some delicious bites. Kochi is fairly unassuming when you first walk in. It has an approachable feel with some nice design choices. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Kochi offers an 8 course tasting menu for $145 I added the Uni supplement for $16 and an additional Abalone course for $25. The entire meal was relatively quick in stark contrast to the sister restaurant Mari where I sat for at least 2.5 hours. Between the price point and pacing this is a relatively approachable Michelin star tasting menu. The dishes are well composed and there are some memorable moments. The best tasting and attractive dish had to be the Octopus Twigim. The texture of the tofu under the halibut was unexpected and super satisfying. The American Wagyu was extremely good so I would probably recommend against paying the $59 supplement for A5. Overall a welcoming establishment featuring a satisfying tasting menu with some interesting and delicious bites.

Definitely worth trying! The service was amazing and they were very attentive and kind. The food ended up being pretty filling. My favorite parts were the dessert and the mushroom soup.

Is there an a La carte menu?

    No.

Is there a dress code? Casual? For men- dressy shirt and nice shorts ok?

I doubt dress code, mostly smart casual, perhaps more lenient with outdoor dining seats. With that said, there will be people dressed nice there.

    Do they accommodate seafood allergies?

I believe so since they asked us for allergies as soon as we got there. My recommendation is that you call the restaurant

    Are reservations necessary?

    Hell yes

Do they accommodate gluten free diet?

They accommodated my dairy free and nut free allergen restrictions, so I am sure that they accommodate for other allergies or diets.

Is it a prefixed 9 course dinner only?

Believe so. Definitely worth it! You know it's legit when white folks are the minority.

Going to a Broadway show but have work that day. How long does dinner take?

I'd say about an hour till an hour and half

    Is it BYOB?

It's still BYOB until Dec 23rd.

    Is Kochi still byob?

Yes, but call ahead and ask just in case

The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. Did you know this is where the Beecher's used to be?! RIP, I miss their Mac n cheese.... the vibe is completely different now (think extravagant Mediterranean vibes, it's very instagram-mable with the beautiful bar area). I had made a reservation for 5:30 (again, life with a baby is very different)- we arrived early but the staff were very gracious and were able to get us seated. They seated us in a side alcove area where they had cushioned seating, which was very helpful. What we Ordered: Drinks: Barlume Spritz and Hibiscus Mule (N/A cocktail)- drinks were good, nothing too special but we appreciated the cute stirrers Appetizer: Halloumi- grilled halloumi with roasted eggplant puree. The saltiness of the halloumi went so well with the creaminess of the eggplant. (Baby liked the eggplant puree too hah) Entrees: Lobster Arrabiatta and Duck Ragu and Truffle Pizza. My husband got the lobster arrabiatta and was raving about how delicious it was. He said it was the perfect level of spice. My duck ragu was served with busiate (a corkscrew shaped pasta) which I thought 'trapped' the sauce perfectly so you get a nice saucy bite each time. Pasta was perfectly al dente- my one gripe is that I felt the duck ragu was a bit too salty, which even managed to overpower the tomato flavor. We shared the truffle pizza, which came topped off with stracciatella, porcini mushrooms and shaved truffles. I liked the porcini mushrooms on the pizza, this was a first for me. For dessert (which we had to gobble down quickly because baby was starting to get fussy) we got the pistachio cake. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR STOMACH FOR THIS ONE!!! This was my favorite in the whole meal, the kataifi gives it that wonderful crumbliness and it went soooo well with the mango sorbet that's served with it. Recommend for a nice dinner with friends or a cool place to grab drinks! 4.5 stars

Bartender Juan was exceptional, and manager Andrii led by example with true hospitality. I initially had a seat that wasn't ideal, and without me saying a single word, they noticed. As soon as a better seat became available, they proactively offered to move me. That simple gesture spoke volumes about their awareness and commitment to guest experience. It's easy to deliver great service when a room is half empty. It's much harder when every seat is full, and that's exactly when this team shined the brightest. Bravo to the entire Oscar Wilde Bar team, especially Juan and Andrii. Experiences like this remind me why genuine hospitality is an art. I can't wait to return.

Call me the wicked witch of the west bc I am blown away how delicious everything was! From what I…read moresaw on socials and Yelp, I knew Opto was gonna be good but idk, wasn't expecting it to be THAT good! Everything was so crisp, flavorful, clean and delicious!! We had a rez for 4 on Tuesday at 630p and we left around 1030p - we were there for almost 4 freakin hours bc the vibes, food and service was impeccable. We felt bad being one of the last to leave but it's a testament to how great this restaurant was. I'm sure we were only able to do that bc it was a Tuesday but even then, it was boppin in there - every seat was filled! It wasn't hard to get a rez for the week but idk about the weekend. Note: We had someone that was allergic to dairy and they were so accommodating with putting some things on the side and being clear about which dishes to avoid!! Here's what we got Feta butter: 10/10 mild yet deep and flavorful Gem salad: 10/10 crunchy, crispy, tangy, umami Melon: 10/10 the sweetest crunchiest melons I've ever had with the milky goodness of stracciatella Calamari: 10/10 when the dish came out I was hoping for a more tempura-y fry but this was somehow light and tempura-y yet had that that rustic Italianness and squid was perfectly cooked Branzino: 10/10 the crispiest saltiest skin with the perfectly cooked flaky meat YOM Ribeye: 100/10 PERFECT NO NOTES Limone: 10/10 so buttery and salty and cheesy with the parm Tomato Pasta: 9/10 They brought this out complimentary for us!! And made sure it was dairy free!!! We were blown!! The pasta was slightly too thick/al dente for me but the rest of the table loved it!! Herbed Carrots: 10/10 maple (?) glazed and so sweet and soft!! Almost tasted like a mix between a carrot and a yam Harry's Strawberry Shortcake: 100/10 DO NOT SKIP!! I wished I wasn't so full at the end bc this was AMAZING! It was deconstructed with a nice serving of whipped cream and poppy seeds on top - wowowowow perfectly slightly sweet and the shortbread in it was indescribable!!! The restaurant itself was bigger than you'd think walking in and from what I saw, was a great spot to accommodate 6-9 people! Can get a bit loud but vibes are bright all around it was giving amalfi coast ~ Can't wait to bring more of my friends here!!!

The Spanish charred octopus was my personal favorite so tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned. The limone pasta was also so good, bright and comforting with just the right amount of citrus. Overall, a very satisfying dining experience with standout dishes throughout.
