Cucumber Salad

I had very little expectations coming to Kobe Q. There are so many variations that can be had with Korean food so you never quite know what you're going to get when you go to a Korean restaurant. Kobe Q was surprisingly a great spot for delicious, flavor-filled food that makes you feel comforted and like you're eating at home. The service was a little spotty, but we didn't want a lot of attention and it was normal for the amount of people they had in the restaurant when we were there. We loved the ambience of the restaurant and it felt like we were in Korea inside the restaurant. I can't brag enough about how GOOD the food we had was. My only issue was the kimchi, which I prefer to be more fermented or spicy with more garlic. Kimchi is a very personal taste, and everything else that we were served was the best of the best and we will definitely when we're in town for work.

Kobi-Q is a hipster heaven! But don't let that deter you if you aren't! I enjoyed dinner here on a business trip and was pleasantly met with a beautiful, classic, yet eclectic ambiance in this old building cum restaurant. Having an allergy or catching the sniffles, I came to seek out some warming, spicy soup. It was just what the doctor ordered. I had the spicy tofu soup with beef as recommended by the server. It was chock full of all kinds of good things like mushrooms, large chunks of creamy tofu, red pepper, beef, and kimchi. It was served with an ample side of white rice which I dunked in to cool off the soup cooked in a piping hot stone bowl. Keeping with my theme of "hot", I had hot green tea. While comments abound that some dishes are not authentic, this one tasted great and that was all that mattered to me. Service was good, ambiance was nice and it wasn't too loud. There is a bar and all kinds of fun cocktails and Korean anime/cartoons playing on the screens. Would recommend.

I had been wanting to try Kobi Q for a while and was in the mood for noodles so I made my way there. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. The interior was nice. It's not the largest place but it's not tiny either. I ordered a drink and some food to go. They have a wide range of drinks: cocktails, wine, beer, and sake. I opted for a Bushido sake and my boyfriend went with a signature cocktail-Mad Tiger: Japanese whiskey, burnt orange, sage, and bitters. It was very similar to an old fashioned. We got an assortment of appetizers. The edamame is exactly what you'd expect from edamame. The crab Rangoon's were also good. I wasn't a huge fan of the pork dumplings. They were steamed which was fine. I just wasn't a fan of the pork filling. My boyfriend liked them so it's just a personal preference. The beef egg rolls weren't what I would consider an egg roll to be. It was more crispy spring rollesque. I did like the beef filling though. I'd recommend the edamame and the crab Rangoon out of everything we tried. For an entree, I ordered the Toshi Bowl: $12.50 A Vietnamese-inspired noodle bowl topped with grilled pork, veggies, lettuce, and crushed peanuts. It was a huge portion of. Definitely two meals work. The grilled pork was really good and had a good flavor. Everything was fresh. I'd definitely order it again and recommend it. I look forward to returning and trying more offerings.

Three Words : Garlic Mama Chicken. That's all that really needs to be said for this review but I'll elaborate. Many may miss the Kobi-Q that used to be in Westport, a mere relic of the past however, I do not share this sentiment. That Kobi-Q has sub-par sushi and substandard service this location though has a focused menu and subsequently, focused staff. The best dish by far on the menu is the succulent garlic mama chicken which has a crispy crunchy exterior covered in sticky no-too-sweet addictive sauce. The texture is something to be desired because I'm still dreaming of it. This dish is best consumed fresh unlike most traditional Chinese food that can withstand refrigeration and reheating this chicken will never be as satisfying as it is fresh out of the fryer and tossed recently. I'm telling you...eat as much as you can, even if that means skipping the rice. Other dishes on the menu are order-able but, none even come close. The crab wontons/Rangoon are a no brainer, of course, because who doesn't love deep fried pockets of creamy goodness? These aren't too heavy or overly filled with cream cheese, they have a light wonton wrapper that has perfect crunch without being overly oily. I liked the sweet and sour sauce as well, it didn't coat your teeth with sugar and had a nice balance. Another great starter is a little more health conscious...and green. That's edamame, which is always something I order if it's offered on the menu. Here at Kobi-Q there aren't any surprises when it comes to the preparation, the beans are fresh and salted and easily pop-able before a meal without filling you up too much (so you can still enjoy your garlic mama chicken) I've also sampled the short ribs which are more like small riblets. They fall off the bone and are very tender and not too fatty, but they still do have noticeable fat which I've been told gives things flavor. Haha, all jokes aside, this dish is tasty but, I wouldn't say it warrants the nearly 30 dollar price tag. The amount of meat to bone ratio, not to mention you only get 8 short (in length) ribs, isn't justified for the price especially because underneath isn't substantial rice but instead a sad salad of sorts. So far, these are some of my only complaints. For it being a trendy Asian fusion restaurant down in Crossroads it doesn't get too busy except for event nights so, it seems to be a safe early dinner option (note they don't stay open too late).

We ordered the fried chicken and the bibimbap and they were both tepid when they came out.... Not sure why, or how. We were LITERALLY the only two people in the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. We came here for a late lunch. The food tasted okay but it just sucked that the food was cold. :/

Food was flavorful and out promptly. Service was friendly. Restaurant was clean and comfortable on a hot summer day.

Love the natural lighting and plants at this place! The service was great and the food was delicious! I had the Korean wings, I did half with sauce and the other half rub. Both had great flavor! The shrimp Bi Bim Bap was really good as well. The only disappointment was the shrimp had no seasoning and was just plain. Next time I'll try another meat option. Kimchi cheesy egg rolls were different but very good! I will definitely be back here soon! For more cool photos and reviews follow me on instagram @zeroforkzgiven

Although aesthetically pleasing, the food lacked the flavor of authentic Korean food. The food came out hot and fast, and the waiter was kind and helpful. It is a small place, but not too small, with a clean look. You have to pay to park in front of the building. I gave a three-star because the food wasn't nasty, but wasn't authentic, and more of an inspired taste. I understand catering to the population, but this was too far off for someone looking for the Korean flavor.

Bi Bam Bap bowls packed with flavor, steamed edamame, delicious dumplings, perfectly seasoned chicken, tasty fried rice and more can be found at Kobi-Q in the Crossroads area of Kansas City. This is a well known spot in Kansas City to enjoy Korean BBQ. I ordered the Bi Bim Bap Bowl and was very delighted with my meal! The rice, cucumbers, carrots, and corn, green onions and sprouts in the bowl were all very fresh! I'd highly recommend starting off your meal with the edamame and dumplings. There aren't a ton of tables and because it is so popular, there may be a slight wait depending on when you visit. The restaurant has an open and inviting vibe with plants throughout the building. If you are looking for Korean BBQ in Kansas City, add this spot to your list of places to check out soon! (note - you do not cook food/meat in front of you at this Korean BBQ dining spot).

We were seated right away despite how busy they were. All the booths were pretty much filled but our server still came by promptly and our food came out quickly! It had an overall amazing vibe. I loved the decor as well! This place is an amazing for Korean food! I got the bi bim nap and the meat was seasoned perfectly. Everything came together so well in this dish. This is a must try! I also tried the garlic mama chicken. It was perfectly sweet and savory!

Tasty dish for lunch. I bit over priced, but pretty delicious! Garlic Mama Chicken. I will order again, for sure. I will have to try dine in next time.

Great food, kind service, quick to serve, what more could you ask for? Kind of tricky to find the restaurant but very cool on the inside. We loved the skylight and the hanging plants, it made for a neat dining experience.

While we didn't have to wait for a table, almost all of them were full when we arrived. Ika is a smaller space in a strip mall off of 119 in Leewood, so there's not a ton of seating but the restaurant went further back than where we sat so there's probably more room than I could see. The kitchen/sushi bar is right up front when you walk in and takes up a good amount of room toward the front but it's aesthetically pleasing. The decor was very nice and everything was clean. They have a big chalk board near the front door, on the wall with their specials. They have quite a few. The menu is very large and our server came over about 5 minutes after we were seated. We ordered some edamame but asked for some more time to look at the menu. When the edamame came out, we placed our order. We decided to both get a side salad with ginger dressing and share two of their special rolls. We got one of the specials off the board, the Hidden Dragon. It was really good and by far my favorite out of the 2 rolls we got. My friend also really liked this roll and thought it was the better of the two. The other roll we got was the Rainbow which is a California roll topped with various types of fish. Neither of us are big fans of salmon so we asked for it to be left off. I didn't really like this roll. I normally love tuna but I prefer it cut a bit thinner and I'm used to it almost having a butter texture where it melts in your mouth. I'm not sure what was going on but all of the tuna had a very strong flavor and yes, I'll say it was fishy. I realize some people like that but I don't. Maybe it was the Hamachi (yellowtail) but it was not for me. I tried 2 pieces and that was enough. My friend liked it better than me but definitely preferred the Hidden Dragon too. I would probably give them a 3.5 if that was an option because the Hidden Dragon roll was very good. The service was efficient and quick. Not overly friendly. They never even acknowledged my friend's bday even though she was opening gifts and we sat a small birthday pop up paper cake card on the table. Not that we expected anything but maybe just a comment about her birthday. Maybe they were too rushed for anything extra. My disappointment in the tuna on the Rainbow roll is my reason for the lower rating. The rolls are $18 each so getting one I really couldn't eat is unfortunate. They also use the crab salad and not just a piece of crab in their rolls. I prefer the latter because I'm not too fond of all the extra mayo from the crab salad. I missed taking pics of our rolls! The Hidden Dragon looked fantastic and the Rainbow looked better than it tasted, lol. My friend still enjoyed her afternoon birthday lunch! I would possibly try them again to explore something else on the menu since there were so many options but I won't go out of my way to return.

Formal Customer Complaint - North Kansas City, MO Location…read moreSubject: Safety Concern and Unprofessional Conduct - North Kansas City, MO Location To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a concerning and disappointing experience at your North Kansas City, Missouri location on [3/20/26] around 12:00 PM. I have visited this location multiple times in the past and have consistently received great service and food. Unfortunately, this visit was significantly different and raised serious concerns regarding customer safety, professionalism, and treatment. Party Size and Seating Issue I arrived with my family, a party of six adults and one child (2 years old). We were seated at a very small table with only one grill, which was not adequate for our party size. I politely requested a larger table, especially since the restaurant was nearly empty at the time and multiple larger tables were available. My request was denied. Serious Child Safety Hazard My 2-year-old child was placed in a high chair at the end of the table, positioned directly next to the grill control handles. Due to the table being placed against a wall, there were limited entry and exit points, and my child was within reach of the grill controls. This presented a clear and dangerous safety hazard. I calmly explained this concern to the waitress and later to a supervisor, requesting to be moved to a larger table solely for safety reasons. Despite repeatedly explaining the risk to my child, my request was denied multiple times. Unprofessional Supervisor Conduct When speaking with the supervisor, I was treated dismissively. He appeared to laugh and look at me as if I were joking while I was explaining a serious safety concern. I was told that it was "my problem" and that I needed to control my child so he would not touch the grill controls. This response was unprofessional, inappropriate, and unacceptable. Interaction With the Owner I then requested to speak with the General Manager and was told that the person I was speaking to was the owner. He stated his name very quickly and did not make an effort to clearly identify himself. He reiterated that it was "policy" not to seat our party at a larger table, despite availability and despite the safety concern involving a toddler. Additional Concern - Discriminatory Treatment I also felt uncomfortable due to what appeared to be unequal treatment. I am Hispanic, and during this interaction, I observed the owner interacting more kindly and respectfully with other customers of lighter skin tone. This added to my distress and concern regarding how I was treated. Request for Review and Resolution This situation could have resulted in a serious accident. Grill controls placed within reach of a toddler constitute a significant safety risk, and I strongly believe this seating decision violated basic safety standards. If an accident were to occur, this could expose the restaurant to serious liability. I am respectfully requesting: A formal review of this incident A written response and apology A review of seating and safety policies involving children Additional training for management regarding customer safety and professionalism I hope this matter is taken seriously. I have always enjoyed dining at your restaurant and would like to continue doing so, but this experience was unacceptable and concerning. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, Adrian Avila [Phone Number or Email]
