First timer. I inquired prior to placing my order what was top pick.. recommended Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, as a single breast filet now. Everything is à la carte, made to order. I've Loved this concept since it was a trailer in the East Bottoms. Alex started Local Pig as butcher shop sourcing local animals. Pigwhich was his on site food Truck. If only took 3 years and several different BBQ joints to find on in KC that I would say is very good and should be on a return food trip. I had the BBQ pork brisket without the BBQ sauce. After all if it any good you shouldn't need BBQ sauce. The portions were adequate for a sandwich and the meat was tender (but not falling apart) and moist. Had a great flavor. I did try the BBQ sauce and while it was also good the sandwich did not need it. Only issue I had was that I did not care for the pickles on the sandwich, but this is a BBQ place not a pickle place. Ordered the sandwich at the counter and within 5 or so minutes my name was being called. Too bad they only offer sandwiches, would liked to have tried some of their other offerings, but I guess there is always next time. TL;DR: Big Pig was legit. Shortened my lifespan a couple months. Chips were not good. Found this place on Yelp during my trip to KC and wanted a good ol' sandwich that only KC would have. They are located in City Market so good for a tourist like me to find and check out the neighborhood. City Market is good but not like Pike Place or Dumbo for food options and vibe. Ordered the Big Pig which was barbecue pulled pork with fried chicken and cheese and bbq sauce. This sandwich was awesome. Delicious, probably too many calories to want to know and yeah, probably shortened my life a little but may be worth it. The downside of my meal was the in store made chips. They were really hard and tough to chew. I even had four "clumps" which were about 3 or four slices of potato that no fed together so it was a hard piece of mass and uneatable. Sorely disappointed. The sandwich kept the good score but the disappointment downgraded the experience. Somewhat small complaint is that their soda machine ran out of ice so drank warm soda too. The energy before the game was electric in that River Market area and the long line at Pigwitch drew us in. Overall it was a decent experience. The service is fast and the cashier was friendly. He took our order and within 15 mins we had received all of our food. The layout of the place allows for larger groups as well and inside it isn't as loud as you'd expect. The menu is simple and next door you can also order meat to go which is an amazing concept. We got the French fries and the house made chips and the bottomless burger. The house made ships were okay although a bit to on the crispy burnt end for my taste but the fries and the fry seasoning were really good!! The east bottomless burger consists of pepper jack cheese, fried onions, bbq sauce, pickled jalapeños and ranch with a 5oz patty. I would've loved the entire thing except the flavor of my burger was just off. I had about half of one and even then I struggled with it because the meat tasted just weird... now this could've been because originally we were thinking of sitting inside close to the kitchen but there was a particularly off putting smell in that area. It was so strong we ended up moving. That might've influenced my ability to taste the burger and enjoy it and not wonder about the smell. Always a BIG FIVE experience at Pigwich. The sandwiches here are slamming, the burgers are banging, the homemade sides and sauces are dynamite (in the words of Guy who of course has visited this joint). You can't come to Pigwich hungry and not leave happy. The prices are still affordable and the food quality is exceptional. It boasts a slew of local ingredients in each and every dish on the menu as well as, a meat market and local provision shop next door- by the same name. Restaurant Week is always an insane value here at Pigwich, with a prefixed menu for $20. That for two years in a row has won overall (in my mind, for what that's worth) as the BEST VALUE LUNCH PICK for KC Restaurant Week. Last year 2024 the mini charcuterie box was adorable with a little sampling of some local cured meat as well as tart acidic homemade pickles, it was a great way to start of the meal and I wished they sold more prepackaged goodies like this over on the butcher side because I would take one of these to a picnic in a heartbeat. This year though for 2025 they really went all out with a crazy addicting spicy sweet sticky chicken wing dish that sang with flavor, the wings were smoked and then fried to perfect crispiness. They need to be an off the menu special again one of these days- we will get to those later. But these bad boys paired with a burger served with a side of house-made paper thing potato chips and all of this then capped off by a little dessert conveniently packaged to enjoy at home (or if you're a pure savage right after your meal). Come on, all of that for $20 is a great deal because the burger was full sized and bodacious, the pint of chips was a plenty and the serving of wings was what you'd expect (6-8 in a portion). Anyways, I won't bore you with any more restaurant week lore, you'll just have to wait until January 2026 to see if Pigwich can hold its title. Every day of the week there's an off the menu special, it's not a secret, it's listed right there on the menu or pre-listed on their instagram a week in advance if you like to plan your meals like me. They have some repeat players that make appearances month to month. One of those is the highly regarded chimi-burger which is, you guessed it, herbaceous floral vibrant chimichurri sauce atop a classic Pigwich smash burger with a sprinkling of pickled red onions, a staple in a lot of Pigwich dishes (and no complaints here- I love an onion in any forms as well as, I'm known as the pickle princess). Another winner is the pork brisket hoagie with meaty umami mushrooms and hints of savory truffle and tangy yellow mustard all served on a giant seeded soft hoagie roll. It's a behemoth of a sandwich but that doesn't mean I have devoured it in one sitting. Always on the menu is the Eastbottoms Burger an ode to when Pigwich was a mere infant of a restaurant and operated out of a permanent food truck placed by the train tracks on the near abandoned east side. This burger will always hold a place in my heart since it was the first item I ever ordered from Pigwich and it still stands out as having a myriad of complex flavors that work well with the high quality melt in your mouth meat. Try it, I think there's so much to explore on the menu sometimes it's hard to make a decision but a tried and true favorite will never make a bad meal. read more

What a disappointing trip after reading the reviews. My Burger came with a mini wooden knife sticking out of it, I about broke it off, trying to cut the burger in half. So charred it was crunchy. One side of the Patty looks like griddle scrapings. Only reason 2 Stars is they serve Coke products and the fires were good but hard to enjoy with my Charburger. I guess I'll try and finish it now.
