First timer. I inquired prior to placing my order what was top pick.. recommended Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, as a single breast filet now. Everything is à la carte, made to order. The restaurant definitely gives diner vibes with plenty bench/table seating and a well organized condiment corner. Oh yeah and they sell merch and their own bbq sauce! It's very tangy. Got to hear how Pigwich was featured in Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives where Big Pig was featured. Hence the pic & art of Guy Fieri next to wall menu. They were busy but very efficient in getting orders delivered. Ordering, cook getting orders out, callout of orders and waitstaff putting it out for pickup calling out your name! I didn't wait too long at all. My order was to go. I love the fact that everything is fresh from the butcher side! My HNFC was a nice size of breast featured with shredded lettuce, tomato and I think it had a pickle or two on and mayo. Definitely had some heat to it.. you could tell by the color as well. The sandwich was good just not in my top faves of HNFC. The fries were nicely golden with great seasoning. I'm curious about the burgers but wouldn't get that sandwich again.
I've Loved this concept since it was a trailer in the East Bottoms. Alex started Local Pig as butcher shop sourcing local animals. Pigwhich was his on site food Truck. Both concepts have graduated to river market and the Quality and Flavor are still top notch. The staff are friendly and the ambiance is Patio-Chic ( indoor and outdoor ). The sandwiches ( and burgers ) are ala carte. If you are dining with others, a side of Fries or chips can be shared.
If only took 3 years and several different BBQ joints to find on in KC that I would say is very good and should be on a return food trip. I had the BBQ pork brisket without the BBQ sauce. After all if it any good you shouldn't need BBQ sauce. The portions were adequate for a sandwich and the meat was tender (but not falling apart) and moist. Had a great flavor. I did try the BBQ sauce and while it was also good the sandwich did not need it. Only issue I had was that I did not care for the pickles on the sandwich, but this is a BBQ place not a pickle place. Ordered the sandwich at the counter and within 5 or so minutes my name was being called. Too bad they only offer sandwiches, would liked to have tried some of their other offerings, but I guess there is always next time. Will definitely be remembering Pigwich and make it part of my food stops in KC.

When we saw the sign for Pigwich we knew we had to get it. It was amazing! I had the build your own burger with fries and my friend had the Zombie Pig. They were both awesome! Well seasoned, tons of toppings, and the fries were cooked to perfection. So glad we found this place for dinner!
What is a visit to the City Market without stopping by Pigwich for a brisket sandwich? This is BBQ central, and I find comfort in the simple plating and atmosphere. It always feels like that place you go because it's consistently good. A staple for a reason. People are always friendly and the food tastes great.
The best outdoor space in the heart of the river market. We ordered a build your own burger and buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were delicious and high quality for the cost. The cherry on top is they don't charge for sauces!
Service and food is impeccable! This place has some of the best tasting food, and yet I feel like oftentimes when I go there's only a few people in there, not super busy! They deserve the best - go there! Grab some fries too

Delicious food! I loved the fries and enjoyed my sandwich. My husband got a sausage sandwich that he really enjoyed as well. Quick service! We received our food within 15 minutes of ordering. They had a garlic aoli and a sriracha aoli that were both delicious.
TL;DR: Big Pig was legit. Shortened my lifespan a couple months. Chips were not good. Found this place on Yelp during my trip to KC and wanted a good ol' sandwich that only KC would have. They are located in City Market so good for a tourist like me to find and check out the neighborhood. City Market is good but not like Pike Place or Dumbo for food options and vibe. Ordered the Big Pig which was barbecue pulled pork with fried chicken and cheese and bbq sauce. This sandwich was awesome. Delicious, probably too many calories to want to know and yeah, probably shortened my life a little but may be worth it. The downside of my meal was the in store made chips. They were really hard and tough to chew. I even had four "clumps" which were about 3 or four slices of potato that no fed together so it was a hard piece of mass and uneatable. Sorely disappointed. The sandwich kept the good score but the disappointment downgraded the experience. Somewhat small complaint is that their soda machine ran out of ice so drank warm soda too. But overall good experience and would recommend. Maybe you'll have a better batch of chips.
Pigwich was a fantastic barbecue restaurant. I had a brisket sandwich which was phenomenal. It was juicy and very messy, which is what you look for in a barbecue sandwich. I also got the sweet potato fries. They were coated in sugar and were excellent! My husband got the fried chicken sandwich and barbecue dusted potato chips. This sandwich was huge and full of flavor! The chips were the perfect compliment. Pigwich must go on your list of barbecue places to try while in Kansas City!
4.5 stars Tons of food options and i got the brisket sandwich + fries Good - bread of the sandwich made the whole item. The pork brisket was good, reminded me of elevated bacon. The crunchiness of the pickles and toppings helped add texture. It was a solid sandwich and i would go back to try the burgers and the pulled pork - fries were airy and perfectly cooked. The pint easily could feed 2-3 people. Only downside is they add a bit too much sugar to the fries otherwise they are perfect Tons of seating both indoors and outdoors. Love the homemade sauces as well
1st timer in KC, Missouri. Quick service and plenty of seating but it did smell odd in the restaurant. I got the Fat Pig and their housemade chips. The Fat Pig probably gave me some plaque in my arteries given how large it is. It genuinely took me two meals to eat. The sandwich was well balanced with the jalapenos at the bottom, which helped cut the cheese, fried chicken, and pulled pork. The housemade chips were extremely salty for my taste and disappointing. I would consider coming back to try some of the other sandwiches but I'll skip the chips. read more

Low quality fast food joint. I'd avoid unless you're desperately hungry and don't mind a heavy stomach for the rest of your day. Food is prepared quickly. Staff are efficient. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating available. Got Nashville hot chicken sandwich, brisket sandwich, and homemade chips. Homemade chips were the highlight! Reminded me of childhood, when I used to fry thinly shaved potato slices. So greasy, salty and satisfying! A perfect indulgence! Soooo salty that you don't need any condiments--you can just enjoy the chips straight and then spend the whole day chugging water. Nashville chicken sandwich was just okay. Brisket sandwich was a let down--just three greasy slices of meat on a bun with three pickles. Just bland bread, overly sweet BBQ sauce, and greasy yet dry meat. Do not recommend. read more

Came here on a Saturday had a big pig, cheesesteak, and a barbecue sandwich. Would say that they're stupid little fries some of the best I've had. French fries standard. The cheesecake is not actually cheesecake. It's a chopped cheese sandwich. Everything tasted decent not the best. I would avoid the chicken sandwiches as it is a Ground. So I went to the Pigwich after I found out their meat came from the Local Pig. So I knew that the meat was going to be fresh. And indeed it was. I got the special for the day which was a burnt end sandwich and was sooooo good! The fries were crispy and fresh and we loved the atmosphere. They had a place the kids can play on and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is perfect in the warmer months. The service was quick and the server was great. read more

Overall it was a decent experience. The service is fast and the cashier was friendly. He took our order and within 15 mins we had received all of our food. The layout of the place allows for larger groups as well and inside it isn't as loud as you'd expect. The menu is simple and next door you can also order meat to go which is an amazing concept. We got the French fries and the house made chips and the bottomless burger. The house made ships were okay although a bit to on the crispy burnt end for my taste but the fries and the fry seasoning were really good!! The east bottomless burger consists of pepper jack cheese, fried onions, bbq sauce, pickled jalapeños and ranch with a 5oz patty. I would've loved the entire thing except the flavor of my burger was just off. I had about half of one and even then I struggled with it because the meat tasted just weird... now this could've been because originally we were thinking of sitting inside close to the kitchen but there was a particularly off putting smell in that area. It was so strong we ended up moving. That might've influenced my ability to taste the burger and enjoy it and not wonder about the smell. It was definitely not what I expected especially after all the reviews we had seen. Could've been a one time thing, which I sure hope so but definitely not my greatest experience in KC. read more

It's been awhile since we were in the river market area. Decided to go walk around farmers market on Saturday morning. We got hungry and stop here for lunch. First time here. Menu looks like they have lots of delicious sandwiches. We opted for the cheese steak sandwiches and fries. They were delicious and the fries were cooked nice and crispy just as I like it. Service was efficient. They got order out as fast as they could. Casual atmosphere with seating inside and out. Totally recommend this place when in the river market area. read more
Always a BIG FIVE experience at Pigwich. The sandwiches here are slamming, the burgers are banging, the homemade sides and sauces are dynamite (in the words of Guy who of course has visited this joint). You can't come to Pigwich hungry and not leave happy. The prices are still affordable and the food quality is exceptional. It boasts a slew of local ingredients in each and every dish on the menu as well as, a meat market and local provision shop next door- by the same name. Restaurant Week is always an insane value here at Pigwich, with a prefixed menu for $20. That for two years in a row has won overall (in my mind, for what that's worth) as the BEST VALUE LUNCH PICK for KC Restaurant Week. Last year 2024 the mini charcuterie box was adorable with a little sampling of some local cured meat as well as tart acidic homemade pickles, it was a great way to start of the meal and I wished they sold more prepackaged goodies like this over on the butcher side because I would take one of these to a picnic in a heartbeat. This year though for 2025 they really went all out with a crazy addicting spicy sweet sticky chicken wing dish that sang with flavor, the wings were smoked and then fried to perfect crispiness. They need to be an off the menu special again one of these days- we will get to those later. But these bad boys paired with a burger served with a side of house-made paper thing potato chips and all of this then capped off by a little dessert conveniently packaged to enjoy at home (or if you're a pure savage right after your meal). Come on, all of that for $20 is a great deal because the burger was full sized and bodacious, the pint of chips was a plenty and the serving of wings was what you'd expect (6-8 in a portion). Anyways, I won't bore you with any more restaurant week lore, you'll just have to wait until January 2026 to see if Pigwich can hold its title. Every day of the week there's an off the menu special, it's not a secret, it's listed right there on the menu or pre-listed on their instagram a week in advance if you like to plan your meals like me. They have some repeat players that make appearances month to month. One of those is the highly regarded chimi-burger which is, you guessed it, herbaceous floral vibrant chimichurri sauce atop a classic Pigwich smash burger with a sprinkling of pickled red onions, a staple in a lot of Pigwich dishes (and no complaints here- I love an onion in any forms as well as, I'm known as the pickle princess). Another winner is the pork brisket hoagie with meaty umami mushrooms and hints of savory truffle and tangy yellow mustard all served on a giant seeded soft hoagie roll. It's a behemoth of a sandwich but that doesn't mean I have devoured it in one sitting. Always on the menu is the Eastbottoms Burger an ode to when Pigwich was a mere infant of a restaurant and operated out of a permanent food truck placed by the train tracks on the near abandoned east side. This burger will always hold a place in my heart since it was the first item I ever ordered from Pigwich and it still stands out as having a myriad of complex flavors that work well with the high quality melt in your mouth meat. Try it, I think there's so much to explore on the menu sometimes it's hard to make a decision but a tried and true favorite will never make a bad meal. read more
Great spot! Stopped in on a Sunday morning/early afternoon and there was a line out the door. You order at the counter and grab a number. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the pigwich sandwich, cheesesteak, and Nashville hot chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Food came out quickly and prices were more than fair. The sandwiches were all great portion sizes. Pigwich took the cake- it was exceptional. Cheesesteak was equally wonderful. Nashville hot chicken sandwich has Mcchicken vibes. Fries were crispy and fresh. Lastly, had chocolate chip cookies (they have 1-2 other dessert options as well) which were delicious. Will certainly back- I know why the line was so long now! read more

Went here for lunch after going through city market. The service was pretty fast! I got the jalapeño burger and it was super yummy! I do wish the burger had a cream cheese option with it being a jalapeno popper burger. I feel the prices are pretty fair. There was seating outside and inside! read more

The burnt ends banh mi was kind of dry and lacked any discernible flavor besides just being spicy, but the pork brisket was pretty good. I went on a weekday night, so it wasn't too busy, and the food came out quickly. Maybe I'm just biased, but this place isn't really one to call home about. read more

What a disappointing trip after reading the reviews. My Burger came with a mini wooden knife sticking out of it, I about broke it off, trying to cut the burger in half. So charred it was crunchy. One side of the Patty looks like griddle scrapings. Only reason 2 Stars is they serve Coke products and the fires were good but hard to enjoy with my Charburger. I guess I'll try and finish it now. As mentioned in a few other reviews, if you are sensitive to smells, this isn't the place for you. read more

After initially hearing of the greatness of Pigwich many years ago, my wife and I finally made it down to the River Market for lunch at this famous, KC meat purveyor! Famous? Yup - Guy Fieri-and-Andy Reid-famous!! (Does it get any more famous than that?). Andy brought Guy by for a stop on the Triple-D path through town not too far back. Enough on intangibles... how was the experience for us? In a word: DELICIOUS!! It's located on the southwest corner of the Kansas City River Market square. Fast-casual in style, you submit your order at the counter, they call you up when the food is ready, and you can dine inside or out, either in their restaurant property, or out in the market! On our visit, we tried a burger, a pork sandwich, and a large basket of fries! Wifey and I agreed that the pork sandwich was the winner of the two, but both were fantastic! And the fries?!? On POINT!!! Perfectly cooked and seasoned, and paired perfectly with their barbecue sauce! The burger was much different than I anticipated, but mainly in a good way. It seemed much better seasoned than your average burger. I anticipated more of a purist approach, but props to the creator for taking it a notch above! The dining room was clean, there were plenty of beverages on offer, plenty of sauce and dipping options, and nice folks working the counter! Wow!!! How can this place not be closer to 4.5 or higher!!!! Absolutely fantastic!!! First of all, down in the revitalized KC River Market, so go take a scroll on an ice Saturday and make sure you save your appetite for Pigwich!!! Casual place where you order at the counter and they call your name. Had the Pork Brisket sandwich and it was amazing!!! Was worth the drive from St Louis!!! 5+ stars all the way around!!! Run, don't walk to this joint & make the trip from where ever you are!!! read more
