I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I think this was my 3rd or 4th time and I swear, it just keeps getting better!! Yum, yum, yummy, yum. Met some friends we shared some appetizers and I ordered the wings and shared a side of fries with all. This place is quant, fun and perfectly tasty. The server felt like a best friend by the end of the meal and it's been that way each time. Save room for the churros!! They are some of the best I've had in KC. Just the best!
Stopped by randomly last night and I'm glad we did! My favorite dish was the Chorizo Rangoons because the sweetest with the meat made it so good. I had the Kow Soi Carne Asada and it was delicious! I was skeptical because I don't like coconut (it's coconut curry) but it was just more sweet than an overwhelming flavor. My boyfriend got the hot honey chicken sandwich and it's 2 filets!! The honey on it made it sweet but not too much. The service was great and it wasn't very busy in there as we got there around 8:45pm. It has a bar in the middle and tables on both sides. Will definitely come back to try more!
Quite literally some of the best street food I've ever had. Their breakfast empanadas are to die for so if you stop in for brunch, those are a no brainer. On the dinner menu, my favorite by far are the birria dumplings. Such a unique way to present such a complex flavor. The service is great - everyone makes you feel right at home. I've had a couple drinks here too and you really can't go wrong. The menu is intentionally crafted to perfection and it's clear they value quality in their food and hospitality. Definitely coming back.
Muni is one of my favorite spots! Where Thai food meets Mexican cuisine, the fusion is unique and absolutely delicious. We've been here a couple of times and always love the atmosphere, the service, and the food. The slow pork is my favorite dish, and the pozole is excellent too. There aren't many gluten-free options, but they do have a few good choices. This last visit, we came with friends and ordered several dishes to share around the table. The drinks were great as always, and the food was phenomenal. Definitely a place I'll keep coming back to!
Favorites on the menu were the birria dumplings, salt and pepper wings with the BEST sauces, and the churros! The side salad was shredded romaine which isn't my favorite, but was really good with the tiger cry sauce. Our servers were very attentive, and bussed the table of plates almost before we were done with them a few times, but I appreciate more service as opposed to less!
Muni has been in my Yelp collection for well over a year. Maybe two. I don't know why it took me so long to get here, but I'm certainly glad that I made it. Muni is an Asian fusion restaurant that happens to have an amazing bar, wait staff and management. The menu is super creative and fun and not very big. I love all of those things. We brought our friends here for drinks and dinner after touring J. Rieger. This place is super cool, friendly and warm. I love the interior with bar seats available, high tops, and low tops. We had some lovely taquito egg roll appetizers and all four of our entrées were absolutely outstanding! We ordered churros for dessert to share and they were a big hit also. I really would love to work my way through the entire menu here. Muni is that good. The reviews brought me here in the first place, but the food and amazing staff will keep me coming back.
I can't wait to revisit this restaurant and make everybody order new things because everything we tried. There was amazing delicious unique we shared the breakfast empanadas, one person had the fried chicken gravy and biscuits, another the pork belly Sando, and I had the Chinoquiles. We were all amazed at the flavors traded bites around, the chinoquiles were the most unique and I just can't wait to go back and try the rest of the things on the menu. Service was good. The ambience was pleasant, place was clean. Everybody was smiling.
Good ambiance, attentive staff, big interior with many seats. Downside is that burger I had was pretty forgettable. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing as the menu is mostly a Mexican and asian mashup. Overall I think this would be a good spot if you wanted a drink and a light appetizer and the vibes are good.
TLDR: Not everything we ordered was amazing but I'd definitely come back to try everything! 4.5/5 Thai-Mexican?! I'd definitely never had that combo before! I love Thai food, I love Mexican food; what could go wrong?! Turns out, absolutely nothing! While not everything blew my mind hole (the cauliflower was just ok), I loved the wings and the empanadas, and the birrias were PHENOMENAL!! I wish we'd ordered the burgers bc they looked amazing. Guess we'll just have to come back. Our server was super friendly and chill, but he kept forgetting things lol. Which, it's alright, bc we weren't in a hurry or anything but after like the 3rd time, we were like "bro, can we please maybe write things down?". Would still come back for the food.
‼Dont skip on MUNI BRUNCH‼10a-2p. Seriously give it a try bc this Thai-Mexican infusion place really packs the flavor punch into your meal. Our server Jourdan was delightful, she recommended the Chinoquiles which I ended up ordering. OMG delicious, the curry sauce was a unique addition that had me taking bite after bite. The other dishes ordered were: Fried Chicken Biscuit & Thai Gravy with a side of hot sauce and also the Muni Breakfast Burrito which is actually filled with the good stuff. Thai Bloody Mary had the perfect spicy kick, but not too much, and the candied bacon was a nice surprise, only $10! Thank you Muni for a lovely Brunch & wonderful service Jourdan!
Jason's Deli... WHAT WAS THAT?! The chicken looked and tasted like a rubber band mixed with fish . I don't even know how that is possible, but somehow they made it happen. Then I went to get a drink and the WHOLE FOUNTAIN DISPENSER tasted like it had been filled with straight WATER. Every drink was so watered down I thought I was drinking flavored tap water. And don't even get me started on the "free ice cream." That stuff tasted like STRAIGHT FROYO. Absolutely not what I was expecting. Never coming back again!!! I REPEAT: DO NOT COME HERE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst experience I've ever had at a Jason's Deli. Save yourself.
Muni never disappoints! The best food item that we ordered was the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. They came with a delicious Asian sauce. The tacos were not as good as we had hoped. The chicken sandwich had two cutlets on it- lots of protein! French fries were delicious and mocktail/cocktails were great as well. We went at 5 oclock so just missed the happy hour, but service was quick and staff were friendly
We went to Muni for the first time and it wont be the last. The setting is vibrant and trendy with an extremely friendly and helpful staff. The entire menu looked amazing but we settled on the Rice Bowl and the Kow Soi Beef. Both were unique and delicious. The Kow soi beef is in a delicious coconut curry sauce and delicious noodles. The Rice Bowl is loaded with braised pork, pickled onions and a delicious spicy sauce to drizzle over it all. My wife had the Cock and Bull cocktail and said it was delicious. This is definitely an asian fusion restaurant that you will want to try.

I didn't realize Muni was inside of the old Tribe. I love what the lot did to the place. A great location and cool vibe inside. Cocktails were just okay. I don't think I'd rush back for another, but if I'm in the area sure. Our waitstaff was very knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Muni is an Asian fusion restaurant that happens to have an amazing bar, wait staff and management. The menu is super creative and fun and not very big. I love all of those things. Muni is such a great spot for friends who love to eat family style! You can order half the menu and try bites of everything. Those Birria Dumplings with the sauce!! We each liked one a little better than the next and left super satisfied. I dig the low boy barstools on the back half of the bar!! Cool dark, date night vibes in the evenings and they had a fun toy drive donation for discounts last holiday season. Check it out! Great location with tasty snacks. read more
Found this place while searching for a restaurant in the river market area. The website had great photos of the food. Choices were unique and sounded delicious. Our party of three arrived and was sat immediately. We were sat at a table in the bar area. Cool vibes with murals, plants and great music. We ordered cocktails, appetizers and entrees. All were delicious. Since it was our first time, we asked our server lots of questions and for recommendations. She was very helpful. I didn't see an item on the menu that I'd seen on the website. She said their menu changes seasonally and often. Great reason to visit again! Overall, a great dinner spot for casual dining with elevated food and cocktails. read more

Another visit to Muni means trying new things! I came with friends to split some apps and drinks, and this is definitely the perfect place for that type of night. We tried the birria dumplings and birria beef ramen (to keep a theme lol) and both were SO good. I also had the Havana Club cocktail which was a nice and smooth gin based cocktail with a punch of lemon-- loved it! The vibes in here are always great, and I love having it as a fun option in the River Market. read more
Muni killed it with their brunch. The Pork Belly Breakfast Sando was very fulfilling and the porkey belly was oh so tender. The Breakfast Empanada had a good flaky crust and the dragon sauce that it came with was *chef's kiss*. Seriously, so good. I'd say the potatoes could use some work - it lacked flavor (aside from some salt on top) since they were big chunks. Still though, 10/10! read more

Ambience: Welcoming interior with warm undertones in decor. Service: Friendly, no complaints! Taste: Tried the chive cake, birria dumpling, and tri thai tacos. The chive cake was flavorful and delicious, with a gooey inside and crunchy outside. The birria dumplings were great! The tri thai tacos were good, but I don't understand what made it "thai." We snagged a last minute reservation for 8 on Christmas Eve and had a blast! The server was warm and helpful, despite working on a holiday evening. Our table enjoyed the Empanadas, Birria dumplings, and loaded nachos for starters. Everything was full of flavor and delicious. I ordered the special shrimp and rice dish and my husband had the Smash Dat Muni burger. Both were also tasty. The restaurant is down in the City Market area and is cozy and unique. They have a corkage fee but were so kind to wave it as a holiday gift. I definitely recommend Muni! read more

Finally made it down to Muni after seeing amazing Insta reels for weeks. Super cute place inside! We sat at the bar and had amazing service with Ben! Tried the Bloody Mary (great with a hint of spice!), Duck Duck Muni along with the Chorizo Rangoon during brunch. Great drinks and app. Can't wait to come back and try dinner. Brunch wasn't the best, it was overly salty and I love salt. Now mind you it was the first week of brunch service so maybe things have changed, hopefully but needless to say I haven't been back for brunch since. Everyone raves about the burger, I've had it a few times and though it is good but, it isn't my favorite smash burger in the city. The things I really love at Muni are the drinks and the fusion appetizers, what I really don't love sometimes is the vibes. It markets itself as a neighborhood bar and eatery but, I live in the neighborhood and at times it seems it's for a very specific crowd- and one I don't fit in with. I've also had this discussion with another Yelper who lives in river market as well and they agreed. Maybe it's more for tourists? Anyways, here are the positives the Chorizo Rangoon is literally too good, it's making me crave it just talking about it. Other high points on the appetizer list are the Gapow Beef Empanada which mixes Asian and Mexican flavors flawlessly and always has such a nice flaky crust. Also, you had my heart at Birria dumplings- this is how fusion food should be, fun not too serious but also so freaking delicious. The drink menu at Muni is another positive because I love the Muni margarita during happy hour and also have come to enjoy the Suffering Bastard. This cocktail has a clean flavor profile with a little spice from the ginger beer, it's a bourbon and gin based drink that isn't overly spirit forward, so sometimes it's too easy to drink! As an old fashioned lover I've tried a lot in the city and it's hard to find one at $10, well not anymore! Muni has got you covered if you want a classic old fashioned without paying a premium price. There are pros and cons but, all in all I'm happy we have Muni in River Market... now that I'm thinking about it maybe I need to try brunch again and give it another shot. read more
Muni is such a cool little place. The menu is smaller, which makes all the dishs seem special. They are very creative with some of the dishes. I was only popping in for a cocktail and an app before going to an escape room with a friend and man, I wish I tried more things! I tried the Birria Dumplings. Two of my favorite meals in one! It was mouthwatering and flavorsome. It was perfect size for what I needed. I also got the gimlet, which I was worried would be too much of a basil flavors but it wasn't. The wait staff was busy but very attentive. Prices are reasonable for the area of river market. read more

Decorated very cute for Christmas, it was very cozy in here!! We just came for drinks, but their margs were delish-- the perfect balance of sweet/tart that I like. Will definitely be back at some point to try some food! read more

I met up with some of my girl friends over the weekend to get lunch and we decided to try out muni because none of us had ever been, but we had all heard really great things. Firstly, parking can easily become a nightmare because it is right next to River Market, however after two loops around the block I managed to get a spot right out front! (Expect to pay to park no matter where you find a spot down there). They weren't too busy when we came in, so we were immediately sat in Jordan's section. Our service was absolutely outstanding, if you ever come here ask for Jordan because she was such a joy, very attentive to our drinks and had great recommendations. For drinks I got the bloody Mary and tried with the infused chili vodka - this may be the first time I was told a bloody Mary was spicy and it ACTUALLY had quite a kick to it. Definitely in my top 3 bloodys in KC now. For food, my best friend and I order the pork belly breakfast sandwich and the Chinoquiles, and we shared so we could try both! Who knew Thai and Mexican flavors meshed so well!! Everything was incredible, the sandwich had the most tender, not overcooked pork belly. The coconut curry sauce in the chinoquiles, so many wonderful flavors in every bite. We will absolutely be back, because we want to try the normal non brunch menu!! read more

I used to love Tribe that was in the same location so we decided to try Muni recently. We were seated quickly but our server was not very attentive. I ordered the honey hot chicken sandwich and it was okay but I have had better hot chicken sandwiches. The fries were also mediocre. My strawberry daiquiri was good but different than a typical daiquiri. I did enjoy the decor and the atmosphere. read more

Yum!! I love fusion, and this place definitely does it right. I was a little taken aback to find the menu was mostly beef and pork, two things I don't eat. With my plan to split things with my friends foiled, I opted for the chicken salad. Definitely one of the better restaurant salads I've had! I love when the lettuce is chopped and already tossed in dressing. It's just so much easier to eat! The chicken was crispy and all of the elements worked well together. I left feeling full, which is great for an entree salad. I also ordered a margarita, which seemed pretty standard. I would return if I was in the mood for this salad, but the menu options are somewhat limited. read more
The birria dumplings were delicious and so was the Tri Thai tacos with braised pork. Although it was lively and had a cozy vibe, the food was a bit overpriced since the portions are small since I paid over $30 for two dishes and left just satisfied, not full. On the bright side, the wait staff were friendly and went out of their way to let me when the food would be out. Overall, it's worth trying at least once while in KC. read more
