Out of all the places to eat on the plaza, Gram & Dun is a super solid choice. I've been for dinner and brunch, and both were super delicious. On my dinner visit, I tried one of their sushi rolls. I didn't have many expectations but was pleasantly surprised with this roll and I'd definitely try more of their options! I also had the dirty chai guy cocktail-- I'm such a sucker for any type of chai drink so this was right up my alley. For brunch I tried their chicken katsu sandwich, and while not the best chicken katsu I've had, it was still really good. I also obviously had to have some mimosas-- heavy on the alc, light on the OJ :) Overall the ambiance of gram & dun is super nice and a great way to fuel yourself while shopping on the plaza.
Came here for our anniversary dinner and it was great! The meatballs were delicious (and I LOVEDDD the sourdough). The drinks were wonderful, our entrees were also good! The happy hour here was fantastic. I absolutely loved the atmosphere here, and the service was very good!! We'd for sure come back.
Came to Kansas City for a few days to visit some friends over NYE. I do a lot of research before I arrive, and I find the best restaurants in town. Gram & Dun was one of those restaurants. We show up for our reservations and get seated for a wonderful meal. Ambiance was surreal. The vibes inside were that of a modern Italian kitchen inside of a Southern parlor room. I know that doesn't make any sense, but it's true. And the restaurant looks out upon the quaint downtown street of this Kansas City suburb through giant, floor-to-ceiling windows. So beautiful. Service was great, as well. The server knew the menu very well, and was able to answer a few questions, guiding me to the correct thing to order. The apps, entrees, and dessert were all paced well, too. Service lead to a lovely evening. As for the food, we started off with the Not-So-Standard Potato Chips (parmesan, sauce flight: gold sauce, comeback sauce, black pepper bourbon ketchup). These were very good. House cooked chips that were just thick enough, had a good bite to them, and were absolutely covered in luscious parm. The sauce flight was fun, too. Keep the leftovers around to pair with the rest of your meal. Onto the Low Country Pimento Cheese (fried saltine crackers, candied black pepper bacon, bread & butter pickles, tomato jalapeño jam). Hillbilly charcuterie. Lots of fun to mix and match some bacon, some pickles, a little jam, all on those very unctuous Saltines. Very fun app. My main was the Brick Pressed Chicken (lemon & thyme brine, prosciutto & sausage bread pudding, caramelized cabbage, lemon & shallot cream sauce). Chicken was cooked to a charred perfection, that savory bread pudding was just an amazing as it sounds, and the cream sauce really brightened everything up. I don't usually get chicken, but I'm telling you, this was the chicken to get. I also got to try one of the nightly specials, some sort of cheesy parmesan pasta covered in black truffle shavings. It was as extravagant as it sounds. Fresh-made pastas, giant chunks of lobster, cheesy ooey gooey, and those truffle shavings add just a touch of class and umami that really made this a good pasta dish. We finished up with the Gram & Dun Bar (chocolate peanut and pretzel nougat, marshmallow cream cheese, chocolate mousse, peanut butter ice cream). Again, another thing I don't usually go for, the dessert bar, but this place did it in a way I haven't seen before. Each layer added to the dessert. Nougat, cream cheese, and mousse, all tied together with that cold, creamy peanut butter ice cream. So so good. Overall, as good as this place was on paper, Gram & Dun really blew me away. Really elegant food, found right in the heart of the country. It was a pleasant surprise, and I would come back in a heartbeat.
What can I say again about Gram & Dun that I haven't said in the past. They are always consistent with their food. Always delicious.
Pros: Ambiance was beautiful. Really classy dining room with large windows looking out on the pretty streets of this suburb of Kansas City. Service was also really nice. Really nice server who knew the menu well. The food all came out very promptly and was hot and fresh. The food itself actually very unique for an elevated Southern restaurant. I feel like their all elevated Southern nowadays, but this place breaks the traditional mold with their menu items. Cons: I can't think of a single con. Maybe a few more Saltines on their pimento cheese app, but that's just nitpicking. Tips: Get the Low Country Pimento Cheese, get the Brick Pressed Chicken, and get the Gram & Dun Bar. You won't be sorry.
Went here for valentine's day and really enjoyed the experience! the interior is very modern and gives a chic vibe. if you sit on the exterior of the building, you can watch the people on the plaza walking and driving which is relaxing. the chicken and waffles were the perfect amount of sweet and spicy!! it was definitely a little bit pricey at 24 but for a nice environment and service, it was worth it. also the waitress was so lovely! she even took our picture and was very attentive to our needs
Atmosphere is great! We love the decor and the setup of the entire restaurant and bar. Service is good, a little slow but busy for one bartender. The pork belly and the poached egg on the Benedict were way overcooked! The flavors were wonderful though. The cornflake oysters were the star! Tender, wonderful flavors, and fun to eat. My prosciutto sandwich was nice, very messy but who cares We can't wait to return to try more items on the menu. The premium margarita was top-notch!
Came in for my partner and I's anniversary, having never been I had my own perception of Gram and Dun from what I've heard through grapevine but wanted to give the place a fair shake. Our experience completely shattered my expectations. The service was really incredible, our server was friendly, knowledgeable and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions even though we got lost chit chatting over our cocktails. Which by the way were very unique and refreshing for a cold winter day. I never felt rushed and that made our night really incredible. We had grilled octopus and ahi tuna for our appetizers and wow oh wow, easily the best ahi tuna I've ever had. My partner and I devoured them as slowly as possible to savor the umami flavor. Truly a must if you like seafood and tuna specifically. The grilled octopus was done nicely as well, the flavor was more subtle but the char on the octopus gave each bite nice texture and flavor. Our entrees were delicious as well, the lemon salmon and risotto hit the spot. I only wish there was more as I cleaned my plate completely. A nice flavor combination. Lastly the braised beef was a perfect to warm up on a chilly winter evening. A classic to be sure, the sauce was so well developed and rich and the roast pulled apart beautifully. Savory and delicious. Our server also brought us champagne to help us celebrate our anniversary. Couldn't ask for a better experience. I look forward to coming back and grabbing more ahi tuna asap!
Great bar happy hour experience! The bar tenders were attentive and kind. I opted for the burger and Brussels from the Happy Hour menu. Both were great. I'm a Brussel sprout fan and these hot the mark. I tried the Gram and Dun dessert bar. It was beautiful but odd. Wouldn't get it again. I loved the atmosphere here.
Ambiance is warm, dark &comfortable. We were seated far from the door (which I like) and Griffin was our server, he was perfect! The signature drinks were nice & dessert drinks were as well. We LOVED the Not-so-standard chips &dips! I got wagyu burger & side of Mac & cheese - both were so cheesy & delicious! Perfectly cooked! Husband got chicken & waffle- also delicious! The chicken was juicy & tender. But that waffle stole the show-it was so yummy! This place is now on our favorites list, just wonderful overall!
I'm surprised I've never reviewed this Kansas City staple of a restaurant on the Country Club Plaza, I've been coming here for years. I've had some amazing meals here, with exceptional service at the bar for happy hour as well as in the dining room for dinner. However, brunch service can be a little off sometimes (especially on Holidays like Easter or Mother's Day). My last time I was here was for their restaurant week 2026 menu and it was a fantastic experience, I had never dined here for restaurant week and I'll definitely return next year. I came for the tail end of lunch and ordered the fried oysters and the burger with fries. The oysters stole the show (I believe these are also on their happy hour menu but don't quote me on that). They were crispy coated in a cornmeal batter and tasted a touch briny without being too fishy. I loved the southern style take on this dish, it was served over a tremendous remoulade sauce that has the perfect amount of tanginess and creaminess. Now onto the smash burger, this is on the happy hour menu for $10 and all I can say is just order it! It's rich and meaty, with ooey gooey cheese. It has a classic "burger sauce" that I ask for an extra side of to dip my fries in because it's that good! The sweet onion and house made pickles help cut through all that beef and bacon, oh yeah did I mention there's salty chopped bacon on this burger too?! It has everything you want from a smash burger at a sit down restaurant. As far as brunch goes, the dishes are nice, there's nothing wrong with a classic brunch menu but I've had hit or miss service. The toast trio is my go-to I've had it a few times, on the menu they have named them "planks" but let's face it they're really just fancy topped toasts. I like to do all three so that I get a mix of savory and sweet. The two Benedicts on the menu are also very good, they're unique because one has pork belly and another has a crab cake. They do some drinks really well and some of the ones I've sampled on their rotating seasonal menus just don't do it for me. But, on their classic menu they have a drink called Fly Me To The Moon which if you like bourbon and aperol you should try, I like to switch it up from an old fashioned sometimes and since this has orange bitters and lemon it's familiar while still being a nice change. Also, a lot of mocktails are offered if you still want something refreshing without alcohol. Happy Hour is king here so if you're ever shopping on the plaza, need a place to meet with the girls, or on a date I would highly recommend Gram & Dun but, be aware it's only offered inside, in the bar area and not on the patio. It's also only 2 hours (3-5) Monday through Friday so plan ahead so you can make the most out of it!
love the decor & outdoor patio, service is quick, and their island brew mocktail was delicious! the perfect post dinner pick me up
Grabbed a quick lunch here. Very nice! It's in the country club plaza area with so much to do nearby. Beautiful interior. Service was great and quick too. The hostess and my server were both very sweet. I got the Double Up lunch option with the Burger and Potatoes. Both good! I'd say the burger was my favorite. It had a nice and unique flavor to it.
Pescatarian Verdict: #stlouispescatarianapproved Gram & Dun is one of my Kansas City constants. Every time I'm in town, I try to make my way here! This trip, I went straight for the shrimp tacos. They had a little kick, which I loved. Give me spicy shrimp and I'm a happy human. But the real non-negotiable item is the the not so standard potato chips with dipping sauces. Gram & Dun serves them with Parmesan and a sauce flight featuring gold sauce, comeback sauce and black pepper bourbon ketchup. The restaurant is also open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, so you have plenty of opportunities to make poor decisions involving those chips. I've been here several times, and I'll keep coming back. That's probably the best review I can give. read more
I went to the Plaza this weekend to enjoy the art fair and decided to check out Gram & Dun for happy hour. After sitting down, we found out that happy hour wasn't being offered because of the art fair. Luckily, we had a fantastic server who made an exception for us since it was still early and we had specifically come for happy hour. For a starter, we got the Crisp Brussels Sprouts, which had a deliciously sweet sauce and a great mix of crunch and softness. For our entrees, we got the OG Smash Burger from the happy hour menu, the Blackened Shrimp & Grits, and a side of the truffle potatoes. The standout for me was definitely the Shrimp & Grits. The grits were deliciously cheesy, while the smoky shrimp and sauce on top cut through them nicely with a sweet and spicy gravy. Everything else was good, but nothing that would necessarily bring me back on its own. Overall, it was a good meal, although I found it a little expensive for a casual dinner. I'd definitely consider coming back for a date night and exploring more of their main menu. read more
Recently tried Happy Hour with a girlfriend and it wasn't too bad. The Not-So-Standard Potato Chips were interesting. They would have paired better with an onion dip instead of the sauce flight. Or do without the parmesan cheese and use some type of seasoning. The burnt chips tasted as such, but I'm sure it's hard to satisfy everyone. Italian Sausage Wagyu Meatballs weren't bad, but very average. Even with the cheese they didn't taste flavorful. Something was missing. The OG Smash Burger was a decent one. It wasn't dry which was a plus. My girlfriend said she'd definitely order it again if she returns. And although the menu didn't day that it came with fries, it was a pleasant surprise. Spinach Artichoke & Gruyere Dip was a little to chunky for me but the flavor was on point. Had the artichokes been a much smaller, I would have enjoyed the dip more. But that's based on my preference. A person who loves artichokes would have certainly loved it. The Happy Hour ambiance was nice and laid back. Not to crowded because we arrived shortly after it started. They have a patio option which is nice for days when the weather is pleasant. Wasn't overly noisy which was nice. Check it out, defintely worth the try. read more

Gram & Dun DAYDREAMING - I literally daydream about this pimento cheese appetizer daily! It's one of the best combos of flavor explosions I've ever experienced. Not to mention the unmatched wings that fall off the bone with crispy skin. And my FAVORITE type of Caesar salad with kale. One of the best meals I've had in a LONG time. Service was great, highly recommend sitting at the bar for a more intimate experience. And the patio is the place to be when the weather is nice. read more
I love being surprised in a great way when it comes to restaurants who've been in Kansas City for some time. Prior to this weekend, I had only ever been here on summer afternoon/evenings to have cocktails on their fantastic patio. My first food visit was last weekend and I was blown away. I chose the prosciutto and brie sandwich and inside salad and my friend had the biscuits and gravy and change the potatoes for macaroni and cheese. What an amazing flavorful brunch we had! Olivia, our server, was so wonderful, humorous, and attentive! I will be back and I suggest you go there too! read more
This is my second visit to Gram & Dun. Customer service has been great both times. The atmosphere is nice. Food ordered by myself and my friends: two of us had the Brick Pressed Chicken with truffle potatoes. Another one had the side order of mac and cheese without bacon and chicken wontons. Drinks: I had the Smoking Dun. I love bourbon and this was really good! I had another drink and can't remember the name of it but it was good as well. My friend had the Berry Blonde Mocktail and she enjoyed it. I would give the food this go around a 6/10. Both my friend and I who had the chicken believe it needed more flavor and season. It was cooked well though. I love the truffle potatoes. The chicken wontons were pretty good. According to my friend the Mac and cheese could have a bit more flavor. If I stop back in, it will be to get the Hangar Steak! That's the bomb! read more

The Brunch Bunch meet up at Gram & Dun for brunch. The host, Olivia, greeted me and accommodated my request to add an extra person to my reservation. She was helpful and added a chair and extra plate settings. We ordered the breakfast burrito, chicken and waffles, and biscuits and gravy. The food was so delicious, we will definitely be back soon. The chicken and waffles were better than I expected. The chicken's flavor and crispness were great. The waffle was one of the best I've ever had. I ate all of my food. Christopher was our server. He was very pleasant and patient as we tried to decide what to order. Oh! I almost forgot about the Brunch Punch. Try it. You'll like it. read more

The setting was modern earthy vibes. The restaurant had an open floor plan with no doors that separated the inside and outside. I loved this, it gave the feel of being in a fancy patio. Our service was wonderful! Our waitress brought us champagne toasts for my friends birthday which is what we were celebrating. This was a special touch! The food was all delicious! I was very excited to try the sushi but was slightly disappointed with it tasting a little more fishy than I would have liked. The crispy brussels stole the show! They were cooked to perfection. The drinks were all handcrafted and were excellent. read more

I recently visited for a quick bite to eat with friends. Obviously the aesthetic and atmosphere is absolutely beautiful but what was the highlight of my meal were the GD Beignets . Truly the best I've ever had. They were soft and crispy with the perfect filling on the inside . I want to also highlight the service our server was a young black woman who was kinda having a bad day, she mentioned how her ex brought in another girl into the restaurant . While those were daunting things to hear she remained professional and continued to do a great job with our table. Kudos to hear for pushing through. Absolutely delicious. read more

Thank you for the kind words and thoughtful feedback! We’re thrilled…
We went to Gram & Dun for brunch. It is a very nice restaurant and our service was excellent. I ordered the chicken and waffle which was recommended by the waiter. Loved the waffle. Crisp on the outside but light and airy on the inside. The chicken was just ok. I would have preferred more seasoning on the chicken breast. It was also a bit pricey for what you get. My friend got brussel sprouts, which she shared. These were amazing! Definitely wished I order those. My mimosa was also really good. There were a lot of good options on the menu that I would love to try in the future like the beignets and fried oysters. I look forward to trying them again! read more
Such a great brunch spot in Kansas City! They have a good selection of entrees for both meat eaters and vegetarians. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles! The service was great and the atmosphere in the restaurant is cute and cozy. read more

This is a beautiful restaurant in KC! The breakfast tacos were yummy, and the goat cheese went great with it. I thought the potatoes were great as well. We also tried the chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, and avocado toast. Everything was solid brunch food. Our server was friendly as well. The only thing is that the food took almost an hour to come out. It was a Saturday mid morning, so that might've had something to do with it but be prepared to wait! read more

I visited Gram & Dun to explore their zero-proof menu and was so impressed! The service, ambiance, and attention to detail were excellent. Our server even double checked that I was comfortable with the Ritual tequila being 0.5% ABV, which I really appreciated. I tried two drinks: Mockerita (Ritual Tequila) - tart, crisp, and perfectly balanced with a salted rim. 8/10. Spritz Your Way (Ritual Aperitivo & Fritz Mueller NA Sparkling) - bright, bubbly, and an incredible Aperol Spritz dupe. 9/10. **Note: The Aperol Spritz tastes quite close to the real thing, so if near-alcohol flavors are triggering, that's something to keep in mind! The food was also great! We split the calamari (perfectly crisp) and I had the seasonal curry with shrimp, which was cozy and flavorful. Overall, this is a great KC spot for anyone looking for a thoughtful, elevated zero-proof experience and great bites. I can't wait to go back to try the NA sangria and elderflower spritz next time! I made a reservation for last night at 7:45 for me and two of my girl friends. We were sat outside by the bar and were warned that there were some loud guests at the bar. Honestly they never bothered us and the atmosphere was amazing! The patio is so cute and welcoming. We started with the fried squash from the sides menu and they were so good! Gram & Dun, Dun DUN DUN! I've been here twice--once for a birthday and again for another celebration--and both times were fantastic, with no complaints at all. Here's my take couple of the dishes: The Burnt End Mac N Cheese was absolutely incredible. I'm a huge Mac & Cheese fan, and this one did not disappoint. The portion of burnt ends was generous, and the creamy mac was perfection. If you love Mac & Cheese, don't hesitate--just get it! The French Onion Burger was phenomenal. Typically, I might go for a steak at a nicer spot, but I was feeling curious about their burger, and I'm so glad I tried it. It was bursting with flavor, extra juicy, and absolutely delicious. The only thing I would change is more veggies--I'm a big fan of veggies with my meals, so next time I'll be sure to ask for extra. The Hanger Steak was pretty impressive too. Cooked to perfection, it was tender and flavorful. The sauce had a bit of a gochujang kick--tangy and sweet--which caught me off guard at first but actually paired really well with the steak. While it's not what I expected, it worked. As a fry lover, I can say their fries are tasty, though not the crispiest. They were a bit limp, but still solid and satisfying. Lastly, the ambiance is great--a relaxed, inviting vibe that's perfect for bringing parents, friends from out of town, or anyone looking for a chill dining experience read more

We came on a warm Sunday afternoon & sat on the patio. It was lovely but could've used some umbrellas for additional shade. They only had a limited appetizer menu until 4 pm when you could order off the dinner menu. Highly recommend the spinach dip & the burger! The Baja salad was good but not great. Our service was punctual but it felt like the server didn't really want to be there & it took a while for food & drinks to come out. read more

Food was meh, but the service was glacial paced. When it takes 20 min for the first Pepsi to arrive you know it's slow. The gumbo is very sad. No visible pieces of sausage. No real flavor. Spilled water sitting on the table the entire meal when the server said she'd wipe it up. 25 min for a Togo dessert that is $13 and inconceivably small. The burger was just ok which is sad for wagyu. The potato chips and spinach dip is good. But the overall glacial server and waits for food and bar items is really unfortunate. Been There, Dun That, won't be back anytime soon. read more

OK WOW!!! Gram & Dun has been on my "wish list" of restaurants for a bit and I am so glad we went! First off, the ambiance and our seating was lovely. We were by the sliding doors which opened to the patio and in the evening with the rain, it was absolutely perfect. When it started pouring they did close the doors tho! Our server, Adriana I believe, was so kind! Didn't rush at at all, answered all our questions thoroughly, and was great overall. Between the three of us, we tried a variety of drinks. My boyfriend had the G&D Old Fashion which you can get with either bourbon, tequila, or rye. He chose tequila and it was so good! I had a class of the Chianti and our friend had the Pepper Princess mocktail. All were hits! For dinner we had the Baja blackened chicken salad, pan seared salmon, and the filet. Thank goodness we love to share because we all tried each other's dishes and were blown away with each bite. The sauce on the potatoes with the filet? Absolutely to die for! My salmon was cooked perfectly and the salad was too spicy for me but for people who like a kick, sounds great for them. Overall an amazing experience. I can't wait to come back! read more

Do they take brunch reaervations?
I would think so - they certainly take them for dinner. You should check on Open Table.
Would I be able to request the chef to be creative and make me a special dish, provided it doesn't include meat or dairy?
I would email or call the restaurant, but they certainly seem like the place to accommodate that request. I would assume that during their busy wknd brunch times it might not be possible, but if they had advance notice so that the chef can be…
Does the restaurant have dog friendly seating on rainy days?
The Kansas City Health Department mandates that we cannot have dogs in areas that we are cooking and serving food.
