From all of the rip-roaring reviews, I thought for sure I'd love this place. Unfortunately, it was nothing special. Certainly not the best burgers in the city. My burger was good and meaty but light on seasonings. My tater tots were just plain bad. Overcooked, smaller than normal tots, and crumbling apart in the bag. I'm glad I tried it but the food combined with the atrocious parking situation and difficulty to actually get the food means I won't be back. Also, you can only order online! This burger spot is located inside of a bar, which was kind of fun. Every table has a QR code that you use to order and the time it takes to get your food was relatively fast. My husband and I played shuffle board while we waited. The mushroom tater tots were so yummy! However, I found that the smash burger was good, but not great. The amount of onions on them was a bit off putting. I think they could have used either a bit more sauce or cheese as they were a little dry. I wanted to try out the original location of Cosmo Burger after visiting the one in Lenexa. This is a big hyped place around town for having the best burger in Kansas City. It's not. It's very good, but there are a couple that are better. I ordered a double cheeseburger as they prepare it. I didn't love the pickles. They were weird. Not your typical dill pickle, which I prefer. The guys working behind the counter, insisted that I use the QR code to order instead of talking to them. There was no way for me to add mustard on the website, which is what I would've preferred. I was able to do that at Cosmo Burger in Lenexa City Center when I was able to speak to a human. This location still had excellent tater tots, even though the burger was greasy and not how I preferred it to be topped. The bar that Cosmo Burger sits in is excellent! The bartender was attentive and kind. If you want a soft drink to go with your burger, you buy it at the bar and it is $3.90. I gave him a five dollar bill and left another dollar on the table when I left. I also tipped the guys at Cosmo Burger. So, it was $26 for a cheeseburger tots and a Coke. Yikes! read more

Yum! I've been hankering for a good burger for the past couple days on a road trip up and down the Midwest. And since this was one of the best burgers in KC, and the hotel was nearby, I had to make it a destination. The burger was excellent. The bun nicely soft, the smash was as good as I've ever had. Nicely chatted but still juicy and tender. I added bacon for one of the best bacon cheeseburgers I've had in a long time. It is just a takeout window, so service was non-existent, but still the lowest recommended tip was 15%. A bit stiff for takeout I thought. Eating in the bar has its charm. The burger was a four out of five the burger sauce that comes with the tots made a huge difference when I added it to the Burger itself the burger was definitely tender the bun was soft a triple is almost too much Burger where is last time a double wasn't quite enough which is why I added the tots but the tots was such a small amount for the price all of the flavor the texture the crunch was definitely there out of like to had a little bit more tots for the price but I don't regret the decision to come back I will definitely do that again in the future I may downgrade to a double. read more

Cosmo Burger has been on my to eat list for ages. I finally just forced the time to go chk it out. Turns out that - again - the Yelpers were spot on. It's a really good burger. They cook it the old fashioned way. Seems they start with a coarsely ground beef patty that is cooked on a hot grill until its crisp all around the edges. This searing gives the burger a special meaty taste. It comes with a grilled onion & what tastes like homemade pickles. The Cosmo burger sauce adds a nice zing. The tater tots are also very good and cooked to a crispy golden brown. Suggest also use the burger sauce on the tots. Whether ordering in advance or at the window, you must use their site to both order and pay. The Wornall location is on the inside of a neighborhood, so there are a number of beers, etc available. Overall, these burgers are definitely in the running for the best in town. read more

A truly delightful burger, so perfectly juicy and flavorful. Just the right amount of thickness so as not to be unpleasant or overwhelming. The toppings that you can individually add on it give a great flavor kick. One of my favorite burgers in town, definitely. You can order on the toast app or website in-house by scanning a QR code by the pickup window. The food comes in a reasonable time for being made fresh. They ask if you want some ketchup packets when they hand it to you too, or you can ask. If you want the fry sauce, which is really good, I would recommend, add it to your order when ordering. The tots are also really good, and the serving portion is huge. You can definitely split them with another person and have enough for each of you. They have water that you can serve yourself from a cooler in a nice branded Cosmo Burger glass. You can eat at the various seating arrangements in the bar/restaurant area. When finished, you can take your trash and glass to a trash can by the pickup window. There are several single-user restrooms along the back hallway, if you need to go. Simple, no-frills. If you are in the mood for a beverage, you can order one from the separate bar, which is part of the Dodson's establishment. Great burgers, highly recommend! Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of my food because I devoured it all too quickly. I can't eat dairy so I love that I can get vegan cheese and vegan sauce here while still getting a beef patty. I've been eating a variety of vegan cheeses for years now and not a single one compares to their homemade cheese sauce. It's always so fresh and quickly served. I miss their Lenexa location but I do not mind have to drive 30 minutes out of my way to come here. If you want just a simple classic insanely delicious burger- eat here! This is hands down my FAVORITE BURGER in all of Kansas City. The only downside is the hours because they are only open in the evenings, which means I can't get this delicious burger for lunch. Regardless, Cosmo Burger could teach a master class in how to prepare a burger that is miles better than most competitors. They also make a pretty decent tater tot. Be aware though that Cosmo Burger is inside of Dodson Bar, so you must be 21+ years old to dine in. I'd also recommend skipping any cookies as they weren't that great. Dodson's is a classic dive bar in Waldo, and Cosmo Burger is located in the back of the bar. Unique concept in which you order online only, no matter if you are eating there or to-go. Either way, make sure to grab one of their drinks while waiting for your order. Burger is a classic smash burger. It's perfect as is including cheese, onions, pickles and their special sauce. Exactly what you'd want in a burger. Also order the tots, which are delicious. Nice change up from the typical fries served with burgers. They offer vegan option too. I had to-go order and would give it 4/5 stars. Had I eaten it there while it was fresh I'd probably give it a higher rating. Superb burger that won't disappoint! read more

Whoever you ask in KC says that Cosmo is one of the best burgers in town so I had to try it myself. It alluded me several times w the construction at dodsons and the times they are open. I was finally able to check it out and it's cool that's it's paired with the dodsons bar. I also like that the other location in Lenexa is like a food court. The menu is super simple so I appreciate that they do one specialty burger for limited times. The burger bun held firm but soft while the meat had the nice outside crisp and softness in the center. Fantastic burger! Did a deep dive on Reddit to direct me to the best KC has to offer and landed here. I got the double cheese with bacon. Perfectly crispy gooey goodness. The service was friendly and the order was ready when they said it would be. Waited at the bar while they made the burger and had an excellent Negroni (the bar has a house vermouth blend) and lovely chat with the bartender, Johnny. The best burger I've ever had both the last two times I went. I get the double burger with vegan cheese because I'm lactose intolerant. I wish every place had this option and it tastes just like regular cheese. When you have the burgers with cheese and a sauce, it's so unctuous and juicy. Smashing the burgers give you those extra crispy bits around the side if you like that in a burger too but is still tender on the inside. I like to add bacon for even more flavor and crunch. Located inside Dodson's Bar and Commons, you order online and it takes about 30 minutes to prepare your meal. They keep things simple: single/double/triple smashed burgers and tatter tots, plus a limited assortment of alcoholic drinks. When your order is ready, they text you and you head to the pickup window. My burger was wrapped and inside a paper box. When you unwrap it, be prepared to be wowed. The first thing I noticed was the size of each patty extended beyond the buns. The meat is browned, charred and features a toasty flavor. They've been described as "meaty, juicy and cheesy." This is truly a Kansas City burger, with meat from the Fareway Meat Market and buns from Roma. They make their pickles in-house. I ordered the double smash burger (with cheese, grilled onion, burger sauce, pickle and potato bun) and the world's best tatter tots. You can customize your burger by adding bacon and chiles, or requesting extra sauce, cheese and onion. It was a truly an old-school burger that I've missed the taste of for a long time. Obviously I'm not the only one with a hankering for Cosmo. Feast Magazine recently recognized it as one of the Kansas City's best new restaurants for 2021. Truly don't think I would have ever know this existed without social media - it's a small window in the back of a bar on Wornall and you must order online. Our online order was really quick - took about 15 minutes from order to pickup and it was ready right as we walked in the door! The bar was pretty loud and packed for a Friday so we took it to go, but lots of big couches and bar seating if you eat in. The burger is definitely a contender for my favorite burger in the city! The double was a gorgeous smashburger with a super soft bun. I definitely will add the burger sauce next time! The menu is very pared down which is how you know it's a good burger!!
