Just an average smashed burger. Good bun, not a fan of red onion on a burger. Good sear on the burger. Tad heavy on mustard.

The kids burger was huge!

Delicious!! Huge burgers, fair priced, nice staff! Our 4 year old wanted to thank the cook after he at his huge burger! He loved it!

1st impressions matter too me. The trash is right by the door and was gross. Next tables needed cleaned and wiped off, with food on the floor. They were still dirty when we left. Out of 8 of us almost all of us had an issue with the orders as well as the table next to us. Trying to get what we ordered correctly was like pulling teeth. I know this is a new location but dang!!! Bad experience for all of us.

DBS burger. Double.

Sad to see Bar west go. Glad to see we have a new burger spot. Overall the food was ok. Not great. Not too busy, clean restaurant and a happy cashier. 1 old school burger with Fries. Sign says onion rings while supplies last. True. @5:15 pm no rings? 1 DBS burger. Buns were very dry. DBS sauce is odd. Old school burger had Waaaaaay too much mustard. Fries definitely needed to cook longer. We overheard the table next to us expressing similar observations. Really hope they make it. Also heard a couple say it was their third time in. I Doubt we'll return.

Caprese burger single

Yes! A great spot with far above average burgers. The Old School had exceptional pickles and onions. The Caprese was delightful ciabatta with mozzarella tomato yum. We shared tots that were very tasty. Its a welcomed addition to Shawnee. Right off 435 and Midland. We will put this place in our rotation immediately.

The vibe, atmosphere felt energetic and welcoming especially us being 26-year residence of Shawnee. This place is a great and needed upgrade to our downtown area. What really stood out to us was the fact everyone (employees) we encountered seemed to not only enjoy what they do but also took it upon themselves individually to make sure we had everything we needed. While our server did a great job, we had others attend and check on us while we were eating. That is a quality rarely experienced anymore in the hospitality/food service industry. It wasn't just our server's mission to ensure we had an amazing experience; it was everyone's. Even as we were walking out, we encountered a couple more "thank you for coming "and smiles after the sale. As consumers we can choose daily where we go to spend our money. Far too often some restaurant experience(s) reminds you of why dining at home would have been the superior choice. Hanks Garage and its employees gave us every reason to go back. side note: Don't pass on the broccoli, it's flavors of garlic and bacon are a must try.

The things I like most about Tay's include: the fries, sriracha ketchup, a fun car for kids meals, and of course the burger with all of the available toppings to choose from. I ordered a single with fries. My wife and I decided that we'll probably share next time. We might even get the slider with fries. My son loved the car his burger was served in. The ladies working were so friendly and worked quickly through the long line to get orders placed. We didn't have any issues finding a table to sit. They have plenty of high chairs and booster seats for kids too.

So the food... that's why we really came here. So many people hyped Tay's Burger Shack up that I think it made me set my expectations really high. I tried the Single Cheeseburger with fries, I will say that I didn't find it very special. My least favorite part was the buns, they didn't seem like they were toasted at all. Just your typical old cheeseburger. The fries were not my favorite. It does make a cute date night and maybe late night snack.

We also went with the ONION RING TOWER which consists of onion rings served with ranch or Cajun horseradish dipping sauce. The Cajun is the way to go. Next we the wings, which have a wide variety of sauce options, we went with, MANGO HABANERO which is a very Tangy-sweet with a habanero heat, and the HELL'S FURY which is enough ghost peppers to blow your top. Flaming hot to say the least and not for the faint of heart. I selected the JALAPEÑO CREAM CHEESE Burger, which is a prime Wagyu beef patty topped with jalapeño cream cheese spread, peppered bacon, and pepper jack cheese on a brioche bun. It was moist cooked just right with a light sear. Perfection. My wife opted for the SICKIES BURGER which is a burger topped with Peppered bacon, fried egg, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and American cheese, topped with onion rings and a splash of hot sauce. We conclude with one of their shakes, and they have several options to choose from, Banana, Butterscotch, Chocolate, Coffee, Oreo®, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Vanilla. I went with the Raspberry and my wife sent with the Oreo. Both were very filling. The staff is very accommodating and attentive that matched with a 1950s dinner vibe, it is a relaxing welcoming environment and this both enjoyable and comfortable. If you are thur the area you are sure to come away full. Highly recommend this place, it will not disappoint.

The TL/DR: Believe the hype on the overall…read more The more granular? Get a double patty, because they're smashburgers and they're fairly, uh, smashed. But when you add the standard fixins', then it makes for a good-sized sammich. But still, go for more than one patty. The 'Snack Attack' is their featured special, which is a burg & fries for a reasonable price. The double runs you a bit over $11 but it's a great value. The burgers are freshly made, they're seasoned well, and they're done right. But if you're a French fry type, like moi, then these are a don't-miss. Snack Shack on Johnson does their fries skin-on in beef tallow and the crispiness and flavor come barreling right through. Sensational side or even just on their own. One downside: ketchup isn't on the tables, just mustard, so you might need to request extra on the condiment. Yeah, but that hype. The burgers are good, not amazing. The fries, as previously mentioned, are legit fantastic. You're eating good for less than $15 in a throwback spot with a throwback approach, so that's also a win. The knock might be the organization, as it's just one register and the space is small enough that the 'line' is generally just a small crowd. Toss in some nostalgic photos and other yesteryear looks and this place is pretty close to the diner where Marty McFly first met his future dad. That image ought to cover any photo evidence. Parking is easy and pricing is competitive (have you seen fast food prices? Oy veh...) and the vibe matches the look. Definitely worth a stop, but don't tarry about when you have those fries, because they are a must-eat-when-hot experience. Last pro tip: Snack Shack does $1 ice cream cones 3-5 Monday through Friday as a 'happy hour', and yeah, those cones are worthy of being on a happy hour menu.
